Het vriendelijke personeel. De uitstraling van het hotel.
De plek waar hotel staat. Veel drugsverslaafde.
Easy, friendly check in. Very clean. Good sized room. Walk in shower. A Tim's and Skytrain right across the street. Downtown Vancouver was way outside our budget. Stayed in Surrey for 3 nights and it was a straight run 40 mins) on the Skytrain to Granville.
The staff were great/lovely and very helpful. The restaurant and bar staff were also lovely.
The location worked as we had very easy access to the sky train but I wouldn’t want to walk in the area at night.
Conveniently located near the rail station that takes you to Vancouver.
-pool - breakfast - location
- availability to extend for a second night
I am extremely disappointed with my experience while trying to book a meeting room at this hotel. I called to reserve an event space and spoke with the Sales Manager. She quoted me a rate for what she called a “full-day” rental, but when I asked for clarification, I was surprised to learn that their definition of a full day was only 8 hours (12:00 PM to 8:00 PM). I politely explained that an event rental requires time before guests arrive for setup and time afterward for cleanup. I requested either a true full-day rental or, at the very least, a small adjustment to 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM so I could use the extra 30 minutes before and after the event for setup and packing while keeping my actual event from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. My request was immediately rejected without any willingness to discuss options or provide a customer-focused solution. The Sales Manager repeatedly stated that she would not make any exceptions and that “these are the rules.” When I asked if there was someone else I could speak with, she responded that she was the manager, she managed everything, and whatever she said was final. Her tone throughout the conversation came across as dismissive, rude, and unprofessional. I have worked with many hotels over the years while organizing events, and this is the first time I have ever encountered a hotel that considers an 8-hour rental to be a full-day booking with absolutely no flexibility for basic setup and teardown time. By that logic, would a 10-hour event be considered a two-day rental? It simply doesn’t make sense from an event planning perspective. The issue wasn’t only the policy—it was the complete lack of customer service. Policies can be explained professionally, and customers should be treated with respect, especially when they are trying to book an event. I hope hotel management reviews both their event rental policies and the way customers are treated. The Sales Manager’s attitude reflected very poorly on the hotel, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property for anyone planning an event.
Good location, I liked the soaps and lotions,
Room is a bit squeezed. Not enough circulation space.
Would prefer a buffet
Love the location. The staff was friendly and the hotel was very comfortable and clean.
I like everything about this property.
El desayuno fenomenal
Estaba apartado de la ciudad de Vancouver
Good location. Good restaurants attached.
Took considerable effort to retrieve our $100 pre authorisation deposit we paid on check in for a prepaid booking.
This was our 2nd time to Canada and by far best hotel so far., It was close to transport links. Like bus and metro which makes getting around easy. The fact you had all 3 meals plus a cafe which meant you weren’t overly reliant on super markets, the staff at reception were brilliant and helped with initial problems we had on arrival. which continued with restaurant staff when we had breakfast and even cleaners. The layout of the rooms was nice and being high up you got nice view.
The only real down side is where it’s located as area slightly run down and may put people off but that’s mainly nights. You are near train line but if your high up the noise is not too bad and certainly wouldn’t put me off coming again.
I stayed at Civic Hotel Surrey during the World Cup on a redemption booking, which was excellent value given that paid rates were running at more than C$1,000 per night. At those prices, I was surprised the hotel did not seem full, which perhaps says something about how aggressively rates had been set. The location is convenient if you are using public transport. The hotel is right across from Surrey Central SkyTrain station, and the train gets you close to the World Cup venues in Vancouver. The journey is about 35 minutes. During off-peak times it is comfortable enough, but late at night after a match the train can be packed, and standing the whole way back with crowds of hot, tired fans gets old quickly if you are doing it more than once. My main issue was that the hotel appeared to raise rates substantially for the World Cup without fully thinking through the needs of World Cup guests. Some matches in Vancouver started at 9pm, which meant fans were realistically getting back to Surrey around midnight or later. At that point, there were no meaningful food options at the hotel. No room service, no minibar, and no late-night grab-and-go option. That felt like a real miss. Marriott is a World Cup supporting partner, and the hotel had a lovely Instagram-friendly World Cup backdrop in the lobby, which was fun and well done. But the practical guest experience mattered more. After coming back from the stadium late at night, having eaten ordinary stadium food, guests needed something simple and convenient. A small grab-and-go station, a limited match-night menu, or even a list of nearby late-night food options that were safe and easy to reach would have made a big difference. I raised this with management and suggested some practical fixes, including partnering with local businesses or preparing a late-night food option specifically for match nights. As an international visitor, the area around the SkyTrain late at night can feel a little uncertain, and I did not want to wander around looking for food after midnight. That said, the hotel itself is very good. My room was modern and comfortable, the property felt clean and well run, and I enjoyed the pool and hot tub. It is a solid city hotel in Surrey and very convenient for the SkyTrain. Overall, I would stay here again if the price was right, especially on points. But during a major event like the World Cup, the hotel needed to do more than decorate the lobby and raise the rates. It missed an opportunity to meet the actual needs of the guests it was charging premium prices to host.

SO clean! The staff were kind and helpful, the location is great for access to the skytrain, and it was so peaceful and quiet. The outdoor heated pool is such a perk!1
Only con was that there was a really strong scent throughout the hotel, specifically in the elevators and hallways. It didn't bother me, but one of my friends found it overpowering. (Just a note for those with scent sensitivity)
Dear Management, I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent check-in experience, which I hope will be helpful for improving guest services. My wife and I arrived at 2:45 PM for our 3:00 PM check-in and were kindly asked to return later as our room was still being prepared — which we completely understood. However, when we requested to at least complete the check-in formalities while we waited, our request was declined and we were asked to come back in 30 minutes. After 3:00 PM, we made a second attempt and were again informed that the room was not yet ready. We had no issue with the wait itself, but we were once more unable to proceed with the check-in process, which left us a little uncertain as to the reason. On our third attempt, we were fortunately able to connect with another staff member who was very helpful and clarified that completing check-in while the room is being prepared is indeed possible. We appreciated their assistance greatly. I understand that room readiness can sometimes be delayed, and that is entirely understandable. My concern is simply around the check-in process itself, as having to make three separate attempts was a little frustrating, particularly after a long journey. I wanted to bring this to your attention as I am a regular guest at the Civic when visiting BC, and I have always valued my stays here. I hope this feedback is useful, and I look forward to returning under smoother circumstances. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
De kamer en zwembad
Ontbijt locatie was totaal niet passend bij uitstraling hotel, echt tegenvaller.
Clean
The proximity to absolutely everything from restaurants, shopping and Skytrain was excellent. And, while my room was small, the view was fantastic!
The price for this stay was considerably higher than most in the area. I am an international traveler and while this property is urban and lovely, it simply doesn't warrant the cost
It’s in a good location and very clean with good atmosphere
Food was ok, not great. My husband was more disappointed.
The food at the restaurant could have been better.
Steps from skytrain and shopping, always well appointed and clean
Parking is always a pain 3 stories down but other than that it’s very good
The staff was friendly and willing to help.
The pool was cold. We asked for a later check out time. We had our keys renewed but they still stopped working at the usual check out time. I didn't know if a breakfast was included. We didn't have breakfast there. We didnt like the see through glass in the washroom.
Food choices' too narrow
The staff lady Ray was very polite. She was very kind to guide me on my questions. The clean and bathroom facilities were really well cared for. The bottle of water daily was the one I enjoyed the most. Good location, near the train station to go everywhere.
The restaurant, especially at breakfast. The service took too long (20 min to receive the dish) and considering I was on a business trip the time is fundamental.
The service and assistant of the receptionist Rayza. She was really supportive and so kind with my questions. I've enjoyed a lot my stay
Nice fresh look.
Na
I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I stayed here on an extended business trip in the fall of 2025. What a surprise to find such an exceptional hotel in Surrey BC of all places. The rooms are well appointed. Housekeeping staff were fastidious. Food in the Dominion Bar+Restaurant was some of the best hotel food I've had anywhere. The front-of-house staff knocked it out of the park. The only thing keeping me from awarding 5 stars is the absence of any convenience store on-site.
Mooi hotel in een bijstad van Vancouver. Centrum van Vancouver goed te bereiken. Metrostation ligt naast het Hotel.

The room was perfectly clean, the view was stunning, a very comfy bed and just an excellent experience!
Great vibe
Fantastic hotel, but the location is horrible. You are able to hear the sky train at all times and I did not feel safe walking around at night
Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Rooms are a bit small but the cleanliness and location makes up for this. Parking is available with easy access to hotel. Restaurant on location has good food.
I respect their customer service for my elderly parents. They have taken care of them in the best way possible even with the language differences. The room are set like a normal hotel. BEST and only normal hotel in surrey, the other hotels are setup like a motel or worst.. I travel a lot and my standard are different. Definitely their customer service is above normal.
.
Great
Noise levels Noise proof windows would be great
Amazing hotel, great location
Our stay was great, the room was clean and comfortable, conveniences like fresh water and coffee were appreciated!

Awesome!
Property was great
Very nice hotel but $1200 for a Sunday and Monday night plus parking is too much for this hotel. Very nice but not to that level.
Property was fine but major construction next to it that was unpleasant
Very clean
Convenient from all aspects
Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Sky train access to city and sights, close by was a real asset. Dominion bar and restaurant, was good value.

The view was great from the room , the room is well designed , clean and nicely layout
Amazing room and view. Very clean and professional service. Extra pay for parking.
Very run down area. The bed was warped on one side. Felt like you would roll off when you slept on your side. Other than that the too Was excellent. We ordered breakfast in Ben but the eggs were very runny. Not edible. The rest of the breakfast was very tasty.
Great
Großzügiges Zimmer, gutes Frühstück, nettes Personal.
Es fehlte eine Klobürste auf dem Zimmer.
Good
Beautiful room and gorgeous view. Very comfortable and clean bed.
The shower really should have some grab bars. The floor in the shower is slippery and a little dangerous. Very confusing parking garage. Not an easy place to find. The name of the hotel is at the top of the building. Not easy to see.
Excellent
Came for 5 nights because my dog needed to go to the vet specialist at Boundary Bay. The hotel is nice, the rooms are very clean, but what made our stay was the exceptional staff. In particular, every single one of the servers (shoutout to Breanna!) at the Dominion restaurant went above and beyond to make us feel special and welcome. The food is also spectacular (shoutout to Manny, who is a magician in the kitchen…vegetarian Tibetan dumplings are ADDICTIVE and everything else we tried was so delicious). The pool was also warm and clean and my teen son loved the gym amenities.
Perfect location in surrey. Walking distant to many restaurants in the area. Clean and friendly staff members. I’ve stayed here a couple times already and will continue to come back.
Nothing
Modern and clean with good facilities. Great location next to Sky train station.
Area around the hotel is a little run down. Some noise from the Sky train.
I’ve just spent 3 night at this hotel with the family. I would say overall I was disappointed with the say. Cons: (1) value for money not there. (2) the King room we booked was so small that there was barely any space around the bed to move. (3) our family ended up with rooms on the 5th floor which has a sky train directly outside the windows so every 1/2 hour train passengers peer into your room… how is this even allowed??? Plus the noise from the train was an issue for sleeping. (4) no amenities in the room … not even a shower cap. Bare minimum of soap/shampoo provided. (5) Housekeeping leaves before 4.30pm so if by chance you had a late night and need your room cleaned later in the day, it’s not possible… again, for the price they charge this should not be the case.
The room was very clean. The beds were really comfortable. And it was very quiet for being right next to the sky train.
Hotel was clean and rooms were very nice. Staff was exceptional. Easy access to skytrain.
It was okay
Great hotel. Interesting neighbourhood.
This hotel is very gorgeous and clean all the staff was lovely and I very much enjoyed my stay I will be staying here again!
Comfortable bed
This is a small hotel, the smaller of the towers in the picture. I paid for a corner room with "city panoramic views" and got a 5th level floor overlooking a busy building site. Offered a higher floor but only standard room alternative and no refund.
Hotel was clean, comfortable, and located close to the highway and public transit. Also has lots of great food selections near by. Would recommend to ppl looking to have a comfortable stay while visiting Vancouver.
Great hotel.
Portable toilet right at the entrance of the hotel, bad smell.
Staff was great, accommodation was amazing, celebrating our anniversary and Civic hotel surprised us with Wine and chocolates. This place is close to everything. It was great coming back here and definitely 100% recommended.. if you're looking for a place ro relax and unwind with family. This is it!
Parking is a little pricey but safety is priority
We’ve stayed at the Civic Hotel several times for business, and while there’s a lot to appreciate, some aspects have us reconsidering future stays. The rooms are consistently clean and well-kept, though they tend to run small, with limited closet space—a bit of a challenge for longer work trips. One unusual design feature: the coffee machine is placed directly across from the toilet, which feels out of place in an otherwise upscale room. Despite holding Titanium Elite status with Marriott, we haven’t received any upgrades on recent visits, which has been disappointing, especially given the frequency of our business travel. This lack of recognition may have us looking at alternative options going forward. On the positive side, the included breakfast is excellent, with a wide selection and good quality. The location is ideal, offering easy access to SkyTrain and other transit options, and the staff are always responsive and professional.
A fantastic level of service. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the Dominion restaurant for breakfast every day. And dinner several times. A great pre-cruise spot. Easy train access to Vancouver proper.
