Good buffet breakfast. Pleasant outdoor area overlooking the bay. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Good amenities.
Thin walls - could hear talking in adjacent rooms and dog barking in room along corridor. We were in room 12A and cleaners gathered outside this room and chatted for much of the day which meant afternoon naps were disturbed. Sink plug didnt work!
All the food we had was excellent- beautifully presented and very tasty
Our bedroom was too hot at night although it was perfect during the day
Hotel itself is as ok but room was awful
Location and staff were nice
I visit many times and never disappointed, excellent location and views ideal for a relaxing break
Maybe the swimming pool temperature could be slightly higher than it is on entry quite a shock
We booked an apartment by mistake so would rather have been in the lovely hotel but it was all very nice. Great location.
Nothing. It was a beautiful place.
Room clean and tidy
The bar needed cleaning. Bottle top, change and other item on floor behind bar.
Great location, fantastic breakfast
The room was like a boiling hot broom cupboard with the noise of staff and the kitchens underneath. Very dated.
All very good, lots of options
Coffee not very hot
Staff were friendly Bearkfast was OK
The hotel needs updating badly-very old furniture and facilities
We been here for our honeymoom, then on our 5th Wedding Anniversary, now we just celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Berry Head Hotel is still as excellent after teb years.
Location is beautiful over looking the sea just outside Brixham. Apartment is nice, hot tub was nice to relax in after a day out. Indoor pool was okay for a swim in the morning and walked down the rock pools in front of the hotel of a morning with my daughter.
The apartment was not as clean as it could of been, floor needed mopping, cobwebs in every corner. It was also like an oven, could not sleep in the bedroom, was outside multiple times in the night to could down. Ended up on the sofa bed.
I stayed in one of the apartments. They are expensive , especially in high season but very comfortable and with good views of the sea. We opted to pay extra for a hot tub which is on the decking directly outside the apartment - this was a nice addition, especially after a long days walking the South West Coast Path. The apartments are surprisingly well insulated and quiet to stay in. The hotel itself is very convenient and offers a varied menu. The food is good quality. The only downside is that at times they are short staffed and service can be slow.
Short staffed at times in the restaurant and not always clear who is looking after your table. That seemed a little haphazard.
The Location
The room was small and poorly cleaned. Not enough parking especially for disabled drivers.
Accommodated my high fibre diet. Coffee could have been hotter.
Beer prices
Breakfast nice view from the room but it was a little on the small side
It was the ideal location for our mini break away.
There appeared to be a shortage of staff behind the bar on quite a few occasions
Beautiful location, very peaceful with incredible views across the bay. Nearby is Shoalstone pool with a lovely cafe and Brixham is a manageable walk away. The food at the hotel is good quality and the staff are great. Our apartment was clean and comfortable, with dressing gowns, linen and towels. Just about ok in the heat with a fan and doors / windows open. The hot tub was brilliant fun!
A minor thing - there are no hooks on the wall! It would have been good to have somewhere to hang towels, coats, dressing gowns.
Staff were friendly The room was clean. Lovely views from the restaurant and bistro.
There was always a wait for someone to come from the back to serve at the bar. It wasn't easy to get to.
The location, the location, the location!!! Clean, well presented rooms, looks like a recent makeover. Good parking
Sauna not working because of insurance ??? What ?? For the price, bottled water could have been supplied in rooms. Breakfast was adequate but not outstanding.
Fantastic location, very friendly staff, very clean. Very nice breakfast - good selection.
Disappointed in the room. Space in main room sacrificed for over large shower in bathroom, poor design (larger rooms at Premier Inn) Paid extra for sea view that was obscured by large tree! Expected more for a room at this price
I liked everything about this hotel.
There was nothing I didn't like.
Receptionist was very helpful and informative and offered help with our stay. We were given a room with a sea view without requesting one. We are in the restaurant and the meal was really good. Breakfast was very good
The room was on the second floor and it had been a very hot day, so the room was very hot. The saving grace was with having a sea view room was, with the window open. the beautiful sea breeze cooled the room at night.
Brasserie Restaurant and access to swimming pool. Great view from restaurant during Breakfast.
Location of bedroom which was at the rear and adjacent to a wedding party with music until midnight.
We were upgraded to balcony sea view room which was amazing. Large room, great views , beautifully decorated. The terrace bar has great views with comfortable chairs and tables. Staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make us happy.
A bit dated in places.
The hotel is in a excellent position overlooking Torbay. The room was bright and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was served in their main restaurant with views overlooking the sea, and you had plenty to choose from. They also had another bistro for evening meals and drinks. The pool was an added bonus, which we used on two evenings. The hotel is clean and staff are very welcoming and friendly.
It would have been good to have a swimming costume spinner in pool changing area, to help dry off your swim wear.
The location is everything, and the views from the terrace are spectacular! The staff here are almost as amazing as the view, and a big shout out to Mel and reception and Dave who seems to work everywhere else! Staff like these guys are a great asset.
The only thing I would add would be a small fridge in each room, so nothing really to report as dislikes.
Great location. Comfortable room
SOME staff were a bit indifferent Only some in bar and bistro could do with smiling a a bit more friendly and more attentive
It was a lovely building set out nice lovely views
Car park fills up quickly on busy days but lovely staff will help you out
Excellent location. Brilliant facilities and friendly staff.
We enjoyed our two day stay, there staff were all very nice. The parking was very busy due to weddings but this is what you would expect at a popular hotel. The food was excellent. The room we stayed in 33 needed some repair work on the walls and ceiling, there were cracks in the plaster work.
Only what I wrote about the room, I did report about the toilet seat needed adjusting .
Location
The hotel advertises two EV charging points however, better signage is needed as I found non EV drivers were parking in them. I was able to charge my car but other EV drivers may not have been able to get a charge point. The car park needs better policing as non residents use it to park and walk down to the local public seawater pool. The hotel guarantees a parking space for residents however at busy times the car park was full so a resident would be unable to park Rooms need air conditioning units. It was very hot during our stay and the bedroom was extremely hot and sleeping was difficult. Dust in some areas of our bedroom.
I would say that the room was ok,breakfasts excellent.
The room was at the back of the hotel right next to a fire escape steps and I couldn’t have the window open and secure it so anyone could have got in I got up to try and secure it and it was filthy! And they told me I could take my dog to breakfast the next morning and when I went down I was told I had to leave him in the room which I can’t do! So I didn’t get any breakfast! The room was ok but it was spoilt by the window issue and food .. the actual venue was lovely outside etc.
Window issue and not being able to eat breakfast with my dog
Amazing location , wonderful staff , perfect stay
Lovely location. View does a lot of the heavy lifting. Staff all very polite.
Room wasn't the best, very old fashioned and hot. Bed was covered in hair, looked like dogs hair? TV didn't have signal so couldn't watch it.
view!
This is a lovely hotel with outstanding views of Brixham.Breakfast was lovely and had a good choice.
The location is very special
The 'attic' rooms are very hot and quite small
Friendly staff, comfortable room, great food.
Room was a bit hot.
This was my second stay at the hotel and looking forward to my next.
I wish I stayed an extra day.
An absolute gem. Comfortable cosy clean rooms. Stunning location. All staff were so friendly and helpful (special shout out to David at Breakfast) amazing food. Will definitely return.
Absolutely nothing !
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good with plenty of variety. The outside terrace area overlooking the sea was very good and seating was very comfortable. Gardens around the hotel were well laid out.
The problem I had was Booking.com. I booked a sea view room and we ended up in a garden facing room with a patch of sea if you angled your neck. It was a small box room on the top floor on the side of the hotel - not on the sea facing side. It was not what we expected from the booking.com website and maybe explains why we were offered an upgrade. Why would we take an upgrade when we thought we had booked a sea view room?
The hotel is in a fantastic location for views , the staff were very polite .
The room and bathroom were very old and dated and in our opinion needs a bit of a renovation for the money you pay we were very disappointed .
Overall, the hotel is fantastic. Lovely location and great views over Torbay, especially on the terrace area. The staff were great and always there to help. The Brasserie is a nice place to eat, drink and relax. There was a great selection available for breakfast.
Whilst the was nothing actually wrong with the room we were in (nice size for the two nights, comfy bed, clean and tidy), we felt that it was a bit dated and perhaps in need of a refresh.
The location was wonderful, great views of Torbay from the terrace with front row seats for the Air show that weekend. Not to far to walk into Brixham down the hill but a bit of a trek back up, we stopped for a picnic half-way.
The room was tiny and in the eaves on the 2nd floor so limited headroom on one side of the bed. Even though it wasn't a hot day and the room faced West, it was really hot and stuffy when we arrived. There was a desk fan which helped a bit The "sea view" was a view through a small window that only one of us could look sideways out of at a time otherwise the view was of the lawn. It was very much in need of a refurbishment as carpets were fraying and the blackout lining on the curtains was torn. The "hot" buffet breakfast was lukewarm at best and as we're diabetic we couldn't full up on pastries etc. We only booked it because we were attending a wedding there and it made it easier as we don't drive.
The hotel is in a fantastic location with amazing sea views looking towards Paignton and Torquay. We enjoyed a fabulous lunch on the terrace with amazing views and a great atmosphere. There was a great choice of food at breakfast, the dining room again shared the fabulous views. The room exceed expectations, comfortable bed and cotton bed linen. Coastal views were beautiful. Overall we absolutely loved this hotel and its location. We would recommend it to others and will definitely stay again.
Everything was perfect.
Its location on the headland with fantastic views and great outside facilities, Food was very good and the staff in particular gave excellent service.
The dormer bedroom on the second floor was unbearably hot, with only a fan to try and cool it. It was a heatwave admittedly but normal summer temperatures would still make this very uncomfortable. We paid for a sea view which was a complete waste of money as you could not possibly stay in the room a minute longer than necessary. I understand listed building status makes changes difficult but portable mobile air con units could and should be provided. Didn’t like the dog friendly status either which is not made clear in the booking.
Great location, great food beautiful views, watched the sun go down with some lovely gentle piano music
Room was a little tired
View
Vegetarian menu very limited Vegetarian specials in the bistro extremely limited. Virtually no change from one day to the next. In addition the table d'hote menu for each day was not posted at a suitably early stage so that we could make plans to eat in the hotel or not. We found that the daily menu was not even posted at 17.30 each day. Far too late!!!
Fabulous location overlooking Tor Bay. Easy walk in to Brixham town. All meals were very good…wonderful fish. Rooms were well equipped and clean.
Nothing really. Did feel restaurants were a bit understaffed.
Everything. The setting is amazing and then we discovered that everything else was perfect.
Nothing. It ticks all boxes.
Lovely traditional hotel in superb location with lovely terrace overlooking the bay.Food good and fair prices.
We paid extra for a sea view.Only had a sideways view..Yes you could sees the sea if you put your head out of the window.
The location and the staff were lovely. The apartment was well designed, clean and comfortable with a hot tub and a view.
The apartment was great but needed more comfy furniture inside and out. I booked it for the view and wanted to reposition the bed and the sofa so that was what I was looking at instead of a wall.
Being so close to the sea in the comfortable Hotel. The reception staff were very understanding and sorted another room for me after my first night as the one I was in was next to the generator and it went on and off through the night .I was very comfortable with a sea view .
Nothing. It was only the weather. Couldn't sit outside for long due to the wind.
Super location, friendly helpful staff, good facilities, nice breakfast. Met our expectations.
Would have preferred a shower cubicle rather than a shower over a bath.
Very accommodating staff
Nothing
The location is terrific, the terrace being fantastic on a sunny day. Very dog friendly hotel. The food was very good and we especially liked the fish and chips, best we'd had for ages.
A little understaffed when busy at breakfast leading to some delay. To be fair, the hotel does warn when the busy periods are.
Setting Reception staff
Other than first night, the food was disappointing Room was too hot and noisy Value for money
Amazing view over Torbay
Everything was excellent
Absolutely everything!! The reception team are 5☆
The fact we couldn't afford to stay longer🤭😁
Fantastic views. The room was warm and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.
It appears quite dated in some areas. Our room was quite small but had beautiful views.
This hotel is in a stunning location, never get fed up with the view. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Great choice for breakfast.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and great views . The breakfast, what ever you could think of it was there.
Wonderful location, great breakfast choice Ample free parking.
Do not book bedroom 2 on the 1st floor, we stayed for 2 nights and had interrupted sleep both nights due to noise from the cellar cooler fans being constantly on, it was like we had a tumble dryer under the bed. We did mention it to the staff with the hope of changing the room, but they were fully booked so unfortunately we had to endure it. Even with this, we would stay here again, just a different room.
A superb position overlooking Torbay, with a choice of terrace and gardens to sit and enjoy the stunning views across Torbay. We didn't use our car the entire stay as Brixham harbour was within easy walking distance for us, and likewise the clifftop walks around Berry Head. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, and the local crab sandwiches we had at lunch were delicious. ALL the staff we met and spoke to were helpful, polite and chatty. We come to Brixham regularly in our camper, but this time we chose more comfort ... and we would choose the Berry Head Hotel again!
Our room was 12A so no unlucky 13, but it was previously a bigger room divided in two, because you could hear the people in the adjoining room talking fairly easily, and using their plug sockets on the dividing wall. It didn't bother us, but it was noticeable.
The grounds were lovely. The scenery was wonderful as well overlooking the bay. Restaurant and bistro also had great food. Service exceptional. Easy walk into town
Location and room
All good
A very relaxing few days,Brilliant food, simply amazing Sunday Lunch.
Sad to linen tablecloths have gone.
Nice mix of old school and new
Nothing
Great location Comfortable bed Very good breakfast choices, and good food at dinner Staff friendly and helpful
The room was a little tired. Bathroom needs updating-shower over bath with plastic shower curtain is a bit dated Although overall perfectly clean bedroom carpet needed a really good hoover
Love the friendly and family feel of the place. Good food. Comfortable room. Lovely location and the leisure suite is a really good bonus.
Maybe a basket to deposit towels in the leisure suite nothing else.
The staff were very helpful. Nothing too much trouble.
Location and the style/period of property
Bath/shower very small and leaked everywhere and I don’t like shower curtains!
Beautifully located hotel near the coast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice swimming pool and spa.
The small room. For the money it should be larger. Breakfast was just about OK . No multi seeded bread and very limited prepared fresh fruit.
Very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Fantastic location and views
Nothing to dislike
Location
The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the whole of Torbay. The outside terrace is lovely and the residents dining room very smart and well located.
The decor is rather faded and old fashioned. Especially the 2 resident’s lounges. The bedroom a bit small and disappointing for the price. On Saturday evening the loud disco type music on the outside terrace was not in keeping with a 4 star hotel.
The location was just right for us. Beautiful views. Helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We self catered for breakfast as we were in the apartments but the dining was very good. With special mention for William’s shortbread biscuits 😊
Welcome. Staff. Lovely room. Comfy bed. Very clean. Service. Location. View. Nice environment.
Nothing.
The location was very nice. We had dinner in the restaurant a couple of evenings and it was very nice .and the staff were brilliant.
Loved the location and the character of the hotel it has history and charm
There is nothing not to like every thing was amazing
Stayed in the apartments they are fantastic. The food was excellent one of the best Sunday lunches I have eaten.lovely friendly staff always willing to help
It’s a very special place, I like the mix of old and new.
