Canal Park Lodge

Loved that we were right on the lake. Room was very quiet. Breakfast had lots of choices.

Perfect, what a great view of Lake Superior!

Location, breakfast

The room wasn't as quiet as we would've liked.

Convenient location, helpful staff, very comfortable common areas indoors and outdoors, and spacious rooms.

The included breakfast was mediocre.

Clean room. Nice view. Good breakfast.

Kind of pricey!

Location, breakfast & comfort

People going in & out of their rooms slamming the door. Pillows not very comfortable

cleanliness - staff very nice

The view to the lake

We had to clear the breakfast trays ourselves but there was no where to put it and it was very messy.

Beautiful hotel! We had a view over looking Lake Superior and saw the sun rise from our bed! Such a beautiful place!

The VIEWS 😍 We wanted VIEWS of the water- delivered!! Stunning! Sunrises- stunning! Walking out the back door to Lake Superior, phenomenal! Staff was beyond helpful, especially when we decided to stay another night. Lake walk is right there. Downtown is literally a block away. Continental breakfast is delicious!! And if you go hungry, you are stupid- something for everyone!

Nothing.

The only rooms with a balcony faced more towards the city than the lift bridge.

The "smoke" from the wild fires affected the view from the room/however, the walks to various sites, the ability to sit around the "fire" at night & eat smores, the inside seating area to relax with friends, the wonderful breakfast in the A.M. and the fantastic pool were ALL EXCEPTIONAL!!!

air quality---entirely out of your control

Lage war gut, Waschraum

Braucht Renovierung innen, Waschraum veraltet mit Maschinen für Münzen (nicht wie sonst pberall mit Kreditkarte), keine Zeitangabe an den Maschinen, sodass man nix planen konnte.

Staff were accommodating and personable. Room was clean, comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake.

Price is high

Fabulous property, everyone was so friendly and the location was amazing!

Location, facilities, well thought out room

Not as clean as hoped

Breakfast was great. We also enjoyed the outdoor patio. Location was amazing. We walked everywhere.

I did not love the location of our room on the first floor.

We usually enjoy our stay here.

Toilet didn’t flush properly and it took multiple attempts to get it to flush normally the entire stay. No exhaust fan in bathroom. The property still has that unpleasant smell that has been there since it opened.

Clean and walking distance to 4th activities

The cleanilist of the facility

The bedding is white

Clean rooms, comfortable beds

High nightly rate. I should have researched more

The location is elite.

The breakfast was not very warm.

Quiet stay. Great location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.

Pool was a little small but comparable to a lot in the area.

Breakfast was very good. The room was very clean and the staff was much above average. We would definitely go there again.

I thought it was a little too expensive. Also, I’m not a fan of the hard floors. I prefer carpeting. The beds were a little bit too high for our elderly mom to get into.

I loved the main floor sitting area over looking the lake. The view of the lake from our room was worth the extra cost. The beds were comfortable. The decor is both lovely and comfortable.

We know we love this hotel already, because we have stayed here many times before! We booked a room with a Lakeview and I was surprised to see the room had been remodeled since my last visit. Our room did not have carpet, but rather vinyl plank flooring. Also, there is no couch in the room, but rather there is a comfortable chair to relax in. I love the added feature of hooks along the wall with cubby holes to hold personal items such as car keys, sunglasses, swim goggles or mittens. Another change is that the hotel no longer provides small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Nowadays, they have a dispenser mounted to the wall of the shower for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It took every last bit of strength I could muster to squeeze out 1/4 tsp of body wash. I lost my motivation to try for Shampoo and Conditioner. In Previous years, when we have stayed at this hotel, we have appreciated the breakfast provided at the hotel prior to hitting The North Shore for hiking. This time, they take your name and room number and verify each registered guess before you are able to get breakfast. Also, a staff member serves you eggs and sausage. I think we could have gone back for more, but my family did not feel comfortable going back for seconds. The weather in Duluth while we were there in March was freezing cold! The wind coming off Lake Superior was quite strong and had everybody at the pool for hours. The pool was set to a great temperature, not too cold, not too warm! Large picture windows surround the pool so you can see what is happening outside and the hot tub was also enjoyable! I love that the pool has a pool towels.

Comfort, location, s’mores!

Had to ask for housekeeping service. Trash and new towels would have been nice

The breakfast was very good. But - there was only one pancake machine working so it caused a long line waiting to make a pancake.

I was disappointed that on such a busy weekend that you did not find a way to have both pancake machines working. The bathroom door wouldn't close in room 117.

Room, location we’re both really good

Later pool hours. We got in a bit later and did not have much time

Location Lakeside view Outdoor fireplace and patio Breakfast

Breakfast location coffee all day, room all good!

Our neighbors were incredibly loud and inconsiderate-door slamming and something slamming against the wall all night I hardly slept at all last night, because of them and the big loud truck outside in front of our room woke us up at 5:00 am this morning

Good location. It would have been nice to have waffles or pancakes.

Faster draining shower/tub - I reported this when I checked out. room 135

Very pleasant stay. Clean and relaxing.

No complaints really. Staff were very friendly. Facilities clean and comfortable. Food was pretty mid but that is what was expected. Dining area clean, good coffee, and good service.

Lovely lodge, decor, protected entrance to lodge. seating: by fire, to look at lake, by the Xmas tree… room: comfortable pillows, chair. Lotion and face wipes nice , bar soap Present for hands Breakfast: great variety, friendly staff, 7-11 available

Entrance: Floors easily shown wet /mess of winter etc- maybe long rug runners would be good at the entrance. Room: new laminate floors in rooms -nice looking but no place to dry outdoor winter boots well or any contained spot to leave wet boots- maybe an outdoor rug/runner in entrance of room to help- Bed mattress a bit hard , but maybe personal preference. Bigger hand soap for bathroom would be nice.

Breakfast wasn’t very good at all - just your standard hotel breakfast fare.

Lobby was packed full of partying hockey parents and kids running up and down the halls late into the night.

Staff were excellent! Room was perfect. Price was reasonable Breakfast hit the spot

Great staff, great breakfast, warm and inviting holiday ambiance.

Some minor wear and tear in the hallways near elevator and in our bathroom…maybe just time for a little updating.

Iocation is great, staff was helpful and pleasant

The beds were a little hard and lumpy...our room had a view of the building wall

Friendly staff, common areas were cosy and beautiful. Great views of the lake and right on the walking path. Nice breakfast.

The view, the location, the price.

Breakfast hashbrowns were soggy and were sitting in liquid. Could have had a thicker duvet, too skimpy.

The hotel check in was very smooth . It was a sold out weekend. The rooms are beautiful well maintained.they coffee in the lobby which was excellent our group loves coffee. The view is beautiful we were on the second floor with a beautiful view of the bay. There is a great walking distance around the bay. We had a nice view of the bridge. We utilized the pool and hot tub very adequate for families. The breakfast bar was well maintained and very good. The eggs bacon and sausage were handled by the staff which they handled very well. The staff and food was excellent.had a pancake maker which our group enjoyed. I can’t say enough about the cleanliness of the food area. It is a truly a wonderful place to stay.

Beautiful hotel in a location with a gorgeous view of Lake Superior. Photography in the hotel is by a well-known local photographer. On cold evenings you can curl up next to the fireplace or outside while roasting marshmallows for smores.

Didn’t use the pool or hot tub, hot tub was closed! Breakfast was great

Front desk staff friendly room was nice

Hot tub wasn’t working and one of the reasons we selected the hotel. Staff and everything else was good.

Comfy, large rooms!

Room clean spacious and laid out well. Perfect location

Very clean and very friendly.

Clean rooms, excellent breakfast, wonderfully friendly staff. We'll be back!

Great breakfast! Beautiful view of lake Superior!

We were able to check in very easily and before 4 o’clock, which was nice. The hotel is very quiet and surrounded by a beautiful area. The hot breakfast in the morning is fantastic.

Clean, great views an good breakfasts!

All good.

Staff greeted us with big smiles and were so friendly. The whole place was clean and welcoming. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We were right by the elevator but heard no extra noise! The fitness center was well stocked and clean! Unfortunately the hot tub was closed for maintenance but we managed to warm up by the fire pit outside instead. The shower tub was quite deep/tall, so something to note if you have height and/or mobility concerns. The hot breakfast was a great way to start a day of hiking and sight seeing! Will definitely be back again!

No major complaints. The beds are pretty hard. My main complaint would be the fact that the hottub has been closed for maintenance the 3 times we’ve stayed at this hotel, and that’s one of our main reasons for choosing which hotel we stay at. So we probably won’t try this one again.

We had a fabulous stay

We love staying at CP lodge and waking up to Lake Superior. Rooms clean and quiet.

Good Cost vs room high

Exceptional staff.

Wish they had a bar. Setting is wonderful!

Great experience all around!

Went out on a limb and booked the Canal Park Lodge. We typically stay at the Lift Bridge Lodge but they didn’t have availability. Overall this hotel was not bad but definitely wasn’t a great experience. The Bad: The room STUNK SO BAD. Like musty old grossness. And the floors in the room, while nice to have vinyl floors, were terribly dirty. My daughter’s socks were black at the end of the day. The wallpaper was peeling in spots all over the hotel. The lighting throughout the hotel was just so yellow and everything was just very dated. The Good: The hotel was definitely kept up and in good shape. The pool area was amazing. Hot tub was perfect. Breakfast was really good. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Great balcony with 2 chairs. Overall, if I’m paying $400/night I’d like to be wowed. And this definitely wasn’t anything to write home about. Next time we’ll go back to the Lift Bridge Lodge.

Our window was supposed to have a lake view but the window needed replacing because it was fogged as it was bad. Otherwise the stay was very nice. Loved the fire pit and patio

Great location and view of the lake.

yes excellent condition

Staff was outstanding!

Great traditional hotel at a great location and with a great view!

Very helpful pleasant staff. Great breakfast. Lovely environment. Love the fire pit!

Location

Room was ok. It looked tired and in need of a spruce up. Stale smell coming for air conditioning, probably needs a filter replacement or just replacement. For the price we paid I expect better comfort.

Very nice hotel, great location, walkable and trail along the lake.

Great location, great breakfast. Friendly staff.

Beautiful location and great accommodations. Great seating areas for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The only addition I’d throw out there is to have tapas and drinks area but overall, GREAT!

The location was great.

The room had a bad smell to it, I asked to switch room and was able to the second room was a little better.

Very clean and well maintained hotel.

The facility its self is very nice. Breakfast was very good and above average for a hotel. The location in Canal Park is great and many attractions are in walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. This hotel was very clean and we had a lovely room. The location was close to everything. Parking lot was roomy and free for guests. The free breakfast was delicious. There were a number of hot items along with the usual bagels, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Love it!

Perhaps the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in, with a very good breakfast with a lot of variety.

Very nice & roomy. Quiet & relaxing.

Stayed here many times. Great to be by the lake!

Great place to stay

Great breakfast. Quiet hotel

Checking in was a delight. The employee was very polite and welcoming. We stated that we were 3 hours early and she cheerfully stated that there was a room ready for us. The room was exceptionally clean and very spacious. The king bed was extremely comfortable and we slept in it as well as we do at home. The breakfast was delicious with a selection of everything you would want to eat for breakfast. I would recommend Canal Park Lodge as the best and lowest priced hotel in the Canal setting.

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at the hotel. Our room was great, nice size and clean. We enjoyed having a fridge and microwave. The breakfast provided more than met our expectations providing hot foods, bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes and a variety of breads, muffins and danishes. The location is great, walkable to all the canal park attractions and dining. Free parking is provided, and the last night we enjoyed sitting out by the gas fire pit watching the water and visiting with other guests. Overall a great weekend, and we would stay here again.

Loved it!

The room smelled like an old man..shower dispencers not easy to use.

Amazing location right in the middle of the action but still plenty quiet. Plenty of space in our standard 2 queen room for our family of 4.

Convenient location, beautiful room, restaurant/brewery next door.
