We liked the location and the price was in our range. The water pressure was very good. The bed linens were clean.
There was no coffee maker; only instant coffee. There should be a Keurig with coffee pods. They need more towel racks and hooks, and a brighter light in the toilet section.
Convenient
Failed to send promised access codes.
Location
Dirty. Very. Ac unit extremely load. Poor access to staff. Breakfast was a total fail. Walked to the sister hotel to wait 20 minutes in total absence of staff. Breakfast?? What a joke. Stake cereal I will never stay at with them again or ever recommend them. Embarrassed to say the least that I spent this much money
Very attractive facility, comfortable
No elevator
Great location close to everything I wanted to see. The room was clean and the AC was working well. I also appreciated the water and soda left in the fridge.
There was no coffee maker in my room, which was very disappointing. I consider this a basic item that should be provided. Then finding out the provided continental breakfast was at another location two blocks away meant my mornings were not the relaxing start I wanted. My room was clean upon arrival, however I never saw a staff member during my stay and my room was never serviced again during my stay. I left the sign on the door requesting my room be made up while I was out. Very disappointed to return late in the afternoon to find the bed still unmade and no fresh towels. Also with the extreme heat it would have been nice to have another bottle of water. My biggest concern is one of safety. On my first morning I was awakened by someone trying to enter my room. I yelled out and the person said something I could not understand. They did leave and I have no idea who it was. I want to believe it was a confused guest who got the wrong room, however, I do question how lost you can be when there are only 10 or so rooms in the place. I also know if I had scared someone like that I would have found a way to apologize even if it was slipping a note under the door.
It’s got a lot of character! The space is just right for a short stay, and the location couldn’t be better.
It would have been nice to have at least one person on staff, since not everything is as obviously signed as it could be. The parking hours are also a touch confusing.
소박 청결 정숙
Location was great; building is very attractive; manager was most helpful and attentive; continental breakfast was great - delicious fresh baked goods and yogurt parfaits
Rooms are very small; only place to hang clothes/coats is hooks and hangers on the wall; bathroom in my room had partial wall that limited access to the toilet making it very awkward to use; toilet paper roll nearly empty and no replacement was provided
The bed was comfy Stratford is a lovely town.
There was no one at the property so we had to call them to help us get into our room. There was no curtain or blind at the window so we had to use a towel to try and cover up the street light shining in. There was barely any toilet roll left and we had to ask for more. The bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied from the last person. Breakfast was extremely limited eg bread & bagels plus banana bread and satsumas. Coffee was only in our room but we couldn’t get the Nespresso machine to work.
No breakfast was being offered! apparently not until May 1st.
It would have been nice to have breakfast served and not have to pay 20. for parking.
Location. Cute.
The room was far too warm - even with all the windows open and the fan on. Did *not* sleep well at all! Had to pay extra for parking. No breakfast :(
There was NO Breakfast. The advertising was VERY misleading.
There could have been breakfast. Also the website said there was free parking and we had to pay $22.60 per night which was a Total Ripoff.
Attractive rooms and comfortable beds. Great location. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping and some theaters.
Nothing
Room was cramped. My husband couldn’t fit in the tiny shower. Washroom facilities a joke. Our room was fronting on the main road. We were not advised about having to reserve parking, so had to walk a short distance to park our car. Breakfast was included - toast / scones /strawberries / yogurt The description of the hotel room looked quite luxurious compared to the real thing. Overpriced for this hotel
Breakfast was good. However it would be better if coffee/tea was available ( there weren’t enough cups in our room for coffee and we assumed it would be part of breakfast. Hotel was very quiet
More towels and pillows in the room Room seemed small to be considered a suite
Location was excellent. Appreciated the ease of contactless check in/out!
The bathroom was a little odd, with the toilet in one bathroom and the shower in the other! The shower was pretty small. But the water pressure and the soaps/lotions/shampoo provided were great.
Location was perfect.
The bed had really small pillows and not the most comfortable mattress or blankets.
Comfortable, easy wifi access, tidy, convenient
Check in was a little clunky
Breakfast at Features very good
Location
Noisy room. Very poor breakfast
Romantic, warm, comfortable, fireplace
Nothing
The location great; room very good, bathtub clean. Very comfortable and spacious.
Two things: room too hot at night and couldn’t find a way to lower the heat. The bed, while lovely, was way too soft — to the point that we drifted into the centre. Sry but true!
Great location. Super clean. We had a great complimentary breakfast.
Outside traffic noise. Our room was very small.
Quaint ; nice theatre vibe. Very convenient to downtown. Easy to locate.
A bit tired.
We liked the quaint atmosphere and the eclectic decor.
The room was a bit small
breakfast was just scones, etc...no protein
not enough outlets within reach.
Location and pleasant room
The location was excellent for us, walking distance to shops, restaurants and theatre. I did like the security of the 2 door codes for entry.
The room was a little odd, 2 sinks in the room, a separate toilet room and another separate bathtub room. The bed I am told was comfortable. The mattress on the pullout sofa sloped enough to the bottom of the bed that I actually slid down to the bottom in the night.
okay
No front desk, had to go between hotels
The staff were extremely helpful. They offered us umbrellas when it started to pour. They provided a special treat and decorated the room as we were celebrating a special occasion. The furniture was chosen with care to preserve the era and times.
The bathroom although very clean and functional was very small
The location and staff
The TV needs to be explained. Didn't like Roku, very cheap no sports stations. The Nespresso machine don't like the brand . No explanation on the coffee types. The coffee was awful. Then asking you to take hot coffee door stairs to the lobby. Not a good idea. The fireplaces didn't work . Facecloth had masscare still on it. It appears to understaffed. Overpriced room. Not good value for money.
Great location close to the theatre, walking paths and restaurants. Liked the room door locking mechanism with codes rather than keys. Bed was comfortable.
Biggest complaint is value for what we paid. Room was small and “tired”. Room and facility did not match the price.
The location
I am trying to understand why we were charged $280.00 for our room when none of the advertized prizes come anywhere close to what we were charged. We also paid an additional $22.00 for parking bringing our total to over $300.00
Check-in was simple. Location was nice.
All good….cheerful and charming
Fantastic room with jetted tub, separate living room, fridge with complimentary drinks, snacks, Nespresso machine, kettle and tea, and free breakfast. Can't wait to visit and stay again. 1 block walk to all the shops and Lake Victoria. Nice to have parking with our room as well. Self checkin was so easy and convenient. Highly recommended!
Didn’t like the sink out
Was all just fine. No problems at all.
I liked the vintage artistic decor. Very tastefully decorated. Very quiet and safe. Delicious continental breakfast! The view from my room an ugly enclosed roof with vents. Expedia offered a similar room but with a leafy street view. Not sure who was responsible.
Mixed review. You have to understand the building was built in 1875 so not a chain hotel and not today’s standards for a room. It was a Clean room, bed was comfortable, lounge area and continental breakfast were good. Air conditioning from a very noisy window air conditioner. One staffer we met was friendly and helpful. On the downside- some of the towels were stained and they threatened you with a $50 charge if you took the shower gel etc. It was last renovated for sure 30 years ago. The bathroom we had was a corner tub only with a handshower - no standing shower. Awkward as we were there for a wedding. Understand up front that this boutique hotel is not manned and very pricey for what you get. You have to communicate by email only and they don’t indicate that cancellation is 7days beforehand! The parking needs to be paid in advance with the booking so you actually get a parking pass or else you have to park blocks away from the hotel.
Great location. Very comfortable beds/pillows. Hotel reception area was beautiful and very welcoming!
Nice old property building from the outside. Staff was kind and helpful. Lobby was nice but had limited seating. However, the room was dated (and the traffic outside was very loud because it's on a main street and next to a traffic light so we left after one night rather than stay the second night because we couldn't sleep in the room). The breakfast was minimal (much less than what we get at chain hotels that offer free breakfasts), no coffee offered except for in the room (and we couldn't figure out how to use the coffee machine and there was no real milk at the hotel, just the artificial cream pods so we went out and bought coffee). We paid over $900 US for two nights and it definitely wasn't the luxury property or stay that we expected. Historic, basic services, nice staff, noisy.
Cozy room. Clean and quiet. Get there early for the continental breakfast. Items are not replenished. When it’s gone, it’s gone
Very quaint old English style intimate hotel. Very friendly staff. Breakfast in lobby could use coffee and utensils but scones and bagels were good. Small lobby Generous with drinks and coffee in room ,Close to everything in Stratford
Did not have breakfast. No room service,no front desk. Was nt impressed will not be staying with you in the future .Not worth the money.
The young man that took are bags to the room.
we absolutely loved our stay!! so charming, comfy rooms, lovely little lounge on the main floor, sweet and caring staff. the only thing we were missing was more food and drink options - mainly more coffee, tea, and milk, and maybe a little more variety of food? it would also be nice to have some proper cutlery instead of disposable wooden spoons. regardless, we really adored this little hotel!!
Our room was cozy and clean. The hotel was so charming with a little patio where we enjoyed a nightcap. The location was close enough so that it was a short stroll to almost everything but far enough away that it was peaceful. We will definitely be back!!
The extra little touches in the room and breakfast was lovely.
The property was close to everything and the staff was really nice. It was easy to find.
The air conditioner was super loud and kept us up.
Comfortable room, except for a toilet which is awkwardly placed in the tiny bathroom. Nice supplies for making tea and coffee. Staff were available by request, but I would prefer more traditional check in process. The emailed check-in procedure was awkward.
The Stratford was beautiful, quirky, and in a great area of the city. Very easy to get to dining, shops, and the theatre!
Room is a bit small but cozy, and the staffs is friendly and helpful.
A quaint boutique hotel in a great location with everything you could ever need on an overnight stay. The Continental Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and delicious. We shall be returning next season!
Beautiful property. Very quaint breakfast
Fabulous room!
The location was excellent. The staff were very accommodating to our arrival time and were patient when I could not find my email. They also allowed us to park until after our play at the Avon Theatre. The continental breakfast was very good. Thank you to your staff for the extra touches for our Wedding Anniversary.
The view was not great but we didn't care. The plumbing may have been a bit noisy but overall the room was quiet. The television listing given was not accurate.
Location great, breakfast good
Insane price for what it is. Maybe that has more to do with Stratford but wouldn't have expected to have to dodge painters in the hallways during peak season. Rooms need updating.
Breakfast was extremely modest.
I did not like the keyless system to get into hotel or my room.
My room was clean and comfortable. No restaurant but a continental breakfast buffet is offered downstairs in the morning. The staff were courteous and professional as well as being very friendly and helpful.
Quaint and clean. The staff did what they needed to do to keep me happy.
In addition to being a convenient walk to town, restaurants, theatres, and river park, the hotel provides a tasty and healthy light breakfast and a Nespresso machine for really good coffee in the room. I would only wish that the extra fee for parking be noted with the reservation.
Quaint hotel in an excellent location. Shops and restaurants within walking distance. Well kept property with all rooms being different. Check in was easy via email with door codes provided. Had a wonderful stay, highly recommend!
Great area close to the theatre, shops and restaurants.
Amazing, cozy, welcoming!!!
The tables with umbrellas on the front patio were nice to sit at for morning coffee or evening drink
Staff was very pleasant, and the breakfast service had very nice presentation. It was everything we needed for our quick trip to see a show in town, and put us right in the middle of everything we needed.
Rooms are noisy, check-in was inefficient, hotel condition was not good.
noisy a/c - spouse grateful for supplied earplugs small outdated bathroom - replace tub with shower would help exterior, lobby and breakfast areas updated and attractive, but room very dated and in need of decorating update check-in and housekeeping/breakfast staff very helpful and outstanding
Step back in time - Victorian style. All the little things are there. Nice complimentary continental breakfast- on ‘China’ plates. Located steps to all the action.
While the lobby is nice and inviting, our room was much smaller than the picture led us to believe. The building is old and the room lacked a true vintage look. Why keep a 400$ deposit for the stay? We were not going to leave with the half bottle of shampoo for $50$.
5 minute walk to Avon Theatre. Cute snacks in the lobby and a nice breakfast spread. Bathroom was tight quarters but not unexpected for an older property. Would stay here again!
Room has drinks in the fridge waiting for you. Nice lobby continental type breakfast to bring back to your room.
a super convenient location; close to the Avon Theatre; recently renovated to a high standard - note that it is self check in, but I liked the look inside and feel of the place, note the hotel building itself was very old.
Location is good but the breakfast is terrible
This is a fine place to stay, clean, convenient, and the breakfast was lovely. Seniors should consider that there is no elevator, and though the young man who checked us in offered to carry bags, the stairs are formidable without a bag.
The place is beautiful. Only issue was the a/c...July is a hot month and the a/c should've been by the bed area and not the sitting area. Room wasn't cold enough, making it hard to sleep
This is the first hotel I've stayed at that did not have a traditional reception desk. Honestly, nothing was traditional about this property. You walk into the lobby and someone is sitting on a laptop waiting to check you in, which took way too long. This hotel had breakfast, which is nice to offer, but when there are plastic trays for you to grab a plate and you have to bend down to the small landing that is almost the same height as a step that people walk down to get a bagel, I knew something was off. No coffee offered in the morning. They had a few juice options, one slipped out of my hand, fell, shattered, and got me and the floor covered in juice. As a paying guest, I was left to my own devices to figure out how to clean the floor since no one from the staff was on site. They have a phone number listed on the outside side of the door to call if you need anything, but after calling twice and getting no answer, I gave up and went to my room to grab a clean bath towel to wipe the floor. I could go on and on, but it's not worth it, nor is staying at this property. A big swing, and an ever bigger miss...
Good location. Good spread.
Awkward to know to bring coffee from the room. Nespresso machine in room malfunctioned. It didn't seem to work. Employee came twice and it intermittently worked/didn't work. Not a useful arrangement.
We had a great time
Lovely boutique Reno’d hotel with excellent location, professional, friendly staff, comfortable bed, well appointed room with many amenities including fridge, coffee maker, kettle and lots of hot water for shower as well as air conditioned. Highly recommend.
Great stay and beautiful hotel!
Close to down town
Our stay was wonderful. Rishita was so helpful throughout, ensuring we were comfortable. If you are expecting a glitzy hotel stay, I would say this is not it. It is very quaint and really showcases a vintage style. The only negative would be the breakfast. The breakfast selection was limited, and I was surprised at the lack of plates and cutlery.
A quaint & historic hotel, very helpful staff, easy walking distance to many dining options. Though older its unique. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet.
Clean room, great bed, older hotel...rooms could use some updating. Customer service was great and responded to questions quickly. Would recommend.
Really friendly and helpful people! Shawn was super helpful in a pinch, as well as the wonderful concierge who got us settled. Very clean with a continental breakfast included. Also some non alcoholic drinks complimentary, as well as some treats. Room a bit small but totally adequate for a comfortable stay.
Location is good
Extremely low value for money. Breakfast was a literal joke - joghurt, cereal and bread and juice - on plastic single use dishes, NO coffee or tea. We ended up eating in our room. Paid parking up front, when you can park for free on in the area. Noisy floor boards in the whole building, you can hear when your neighbors move around. In our room, the floor was crooked. We slept the night before in a Marriott hotel for similar money, and were a lot more happy, with better breakfast.
If you're a theatre professional like me and you need accommodation to see a play at Stratford a lot, this is a GREAT place to stay. Clean, staff is super friendly, clean, great wifi, and most important, it's right downtown, close to all the theatres so you can stumble to your room after the show.
