KEIKYU EX HOTEL Takanawa

Great hotel, close to trains. We really enjoyed our time here!

Has everything you need if you forget something, so convenient from the train station! The train station nearby isn’t overwhelming. Staff was very kind.

Pienen budjetin matkaajalle hyvä valinta.

Extremely close to Shinagawa station, short walk to lively area with many dining options, very clean room with bathtub, excellent water pressure, lovely staff

Good base for Tokyo.

Clean, comfortable bed and ample room for a few luggage. Bathroom has shower and bathtub. Quiet. Free breakfast included at Royal Host next door. Just a few minutes walk to Shinagawa Station and close to a 7-11.

Air conditioning needs to be provided always . Then it would be excellent stay . Breakfast very good

The only setback is no aircon the room is too hot

Other reviews mentioned how great it was to be so close to the train station, but I didn’t find it enjoyable. Very noisy and high street traffic— walking and cars. Lots of construction in the area. Front desk was kind, but we didn’t always understand each other. Love the amenities. Room was clean. Shower was clean, but I was unsure how to use it. There was no a/c- the fan doesn’t blow, just moves air in the room. We don’t suffer, just wanted it a little cooler, since windows were shut.

Stayed here during early November, which was unusually "warm" temperature-wise. Location was perfect due to proximity to Shinagawa Station. Room was small, but not cramped. Free WIFI made keeping connected easy. On the downside, previous posts about the bathroom not being vented well, when it comes to odors, are correct. Because of the warm weather outside, and inability to control the temperature within the room, each night was uncomfortably hot, and I have to drop a star on the rating for that. Also, a caution about the stairs at the main street entrance, because of those being built on a slope, it can be easy to accidentally catch your foot (or roller suitcase) on a very low-elevation step and stumble.

We were deceived by your advertisement. The room was so small, narrow. It was difficult to move around Hardly no space to keep our luggages, It was extremely uncomfortable,

Location is good, lovely restaurants and facilities around

close to Shinagawa train station. So quiet. I didn't hear any noise while I'm at room.

Very convenient location to Shinagawa station. Two or three entree choices for breakfast

the location is the most convenient to traveling between Tokyo City, the Attraction Place and the Airport. the property is in a good condition to be next to Shinagawa Station where is the center of Shinkansen train and a local train in Tokyo. the hotel room is comfortable with all amenities to be using for short or long stay and there are more amenities to be able picked up at the front desk if any one would need more amenities.

Staff were very helpful.

Was ok room is business hotel

We had stayed in very short term which made us less opportunity to evaluate.

Japanese hotels are always well prepared - they offer many amenities (toothbrush, razor, shampoo, conditioner, etc) and this hotel is no exception. I have stayed here before and will stay again. Thank you!

Rooms were very small for western standards. Otherwise everything was great.

The price and location are fantastic; however. the rooms are not very clean. I had to wipe the counters for dust when I arrived and rinsed the tub out before using it.

Onsen style bath area with separete shower tub area.

This was an excellent hotel that was difficult to find at first — it is next to Outback Restaurant. It is about 5 minute walk from the station. The room has a decent size bathroom and you get two breakfast coupon which were used for delicious Japanese breakfast next door. Personally, I think it was a better value than Toyoko Inn.

Good hotel clean very friendly staff. Breakfast set was very good plenty to eat. It was a was as short 10 minute walk from the Shinagawa train transportation center.

Good location. Across from train station. Nice and friendly staff.

The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Always a good stay at the KEIKYU EX HOTEL Takanawa.

I am happy to stay when I come back to Tokyo in the future. Very helpful and great location. You can enjoy the breakfast from six restaurants.

Free gift for ladies (either bath salt, steaming eye mask, or muscle patches) - Great amenities - including free mouthwash Cons: - Toilet and room doesn't seem to ventilate very well - Rooms a bit small But definitely the price was great. I would have liked to stay at the prince hotel but it was too expensive in December. This was a good alternative. They also do luggage storage if you do overnight trips out of Tokyo. Shinagawa is also a great location to stay if you are travelling out of Tokyo (very accessible to both Haneda and Narita airport, and a main shinkansen station/on the Yamanote Line) There is also a coin washing machine to do a laundry

Need little bit air conditioning as the room was little bit warm

The location was very close to Shinagawa station it was easy to find the staff were very welcoming and helped me check in easily if there was no issue

I did my laundry with small. This includes 50min wash and 50min dry. But after finished, my laundry was still wet, so I did only dry for 30min, but still it was wet. And it's time to check out. I had to pack my cloth with not dry completely. I can't.believe my cloth is not dry enough after total 80min dryer.

Room only had heat, no air conditioning available. Difficult 5 nights with window open just to get the room temp where you didn't sweat all night long

3 min walk from Shinagawa station. Comvenient location. Room was small but very clean. Friendlt staff.

Nice hotel, clean and close to the train station at a reasonable price.

The hotel was very clean and felt secure. The staff had been very friendly and accommodating. The location is great; about a block or less from the train station and really close to a lot of different sites.

Nice hotel close to Shinagawa station. Royal host is on the first floor. It’s very convenient to have meals any time.

The hotel I used for two nights whilst in Tokyo, it’s a 5 minute walk from Shinagawa on the ‘central line’ of Tokyo line. The easy access means you can get any of the top locations in tokyo within 20 minutes either way. The hotel was nice a clean throughout it seemed very busy during the week but the staff were very friendly on arrival and the check in was smooth. The room was big it had a double bed, desk, tv and I had space to open my suitcase and leave it open without taking up most of the room. Furniture was all fairly new and I had a great view of Tokyo Tower. The bathroom was excellent as ever powerful and hot showers. The bathroom amenities were a good quality providing Face, Body and Hair wash the bathroom also had toothbrush, razor and towel. The cover all bases here so you really don’t need to take any of your own unless you stay longer than a week. No food included in our room as Tokyo has so much you can find a decent breakfast anywhere in the area. Would stay here for business or pleasure.

-Free gift for ladies (either bath salt, steaming eye mask, or muscle patches) - Great amenities - including free mouthwash Cons: - Toilet and room doesn't seem to ventilate very well - Rooms a bit small But definitely the price was great. I would have liked to stay at the prince hotel but it was too expensive in December. This was a good alternative. They also do luggage storage if you do overnight trips out of Tokyo. It was very close to Shinagawa station, room was not very well ventilated. But you can open the windows. Welcome gift you can choose include bath salts, eye masks and muscle patch Mouth wash and shaving cream available on ground floor

Very clean, friendly English speaking staff. Nice hotel!

The room was very hot and turning on the air conditioning made the room hotter. Woke up to 28.5C

Only good thing was the hotel is close to Shinagawa station.

This hotel used to be a upper class Meridien hotel. It turned a bit old. It was refurnished, still looks a bit old on the inside, but still has the large rooms which I like very much. The breakfast is also quite extensive for the price you pay.

Good clean but small space. Great for access to rail and launch point for other parts of Tokyo and Japan. Close to station.

Pros: Hotel close to shinagawa station and eateries. I chose this hotel for my return to tokyo from osaka via sinkansen. Also for fly out from haneda airport. Single Room is quite spacious and clean. Cons: Room is very warm despite having window open (max opening ~3"). Aircon is blowing out warm air. Nothing can be done and staff keep apologising, gave me a table fan which was better than nothing. Thank god i was staying for 2 nights only.

Good hotel close to Shinagawa station, Rooms / Bathrooms fine, Staff not geared up to dealing with foreigners

It was very helpful allowing me to use their scale for my check in bag to fly. One thing I wasn't happy about charging me to 50 minutes early checked in. In USA my experiences, they were happy to check in very early if their rooms are ready. I think it should be considered for future make your guests happier. Otherwise, it was nice place to staying.

The hotel is in a very fine location and only 5 minutes walk from Shinagawa Station. The room and facilities are well managed, new and clean. Will certainly make another stay in the near future.

Nice n clean room, but the shuttle bus to both airport; Narita and Haneda was more walks if you are carrying big suitcase.

Very nice, affordable, close to the station, excellent staff.

Very close to the train station and a convenient last stay before leaving Japan. Hotel is kept well and rooms are clean

I often stay at keikyu takanawa. Very handy (walking distance from shinagawa station directly connected to haneda and narita by train). For one person the bed is generous size, bathroom clean, absolutely great value for money. I often travel during the stay but they always hold my main luggage at the reception even as long as a week. There is a convenience store at the back, family restaurant attached to it and shinagawa wings (shopping and restaurants) just 50 steps away. For someone who lived in Tokyo for 15years and come back regularly, this is my "home" when I am in Tokyo.

Nice hotel with a great location. Would recommend for short stays.

Great location hotel. Service was great and friendly staff. Room was clean and good space for single. But air conditioner system is old type that couldn’t control sensitive temperature setting. Little bit cold for me.

Great location just off the Shinagawa rail station. This is the smaller Keikyu EX Inn which is diagonally adjacent to the BIG Keikyuu EX Inn (not the one you see prominently from Shinagawa Station) Hotel entry is sandwiched between 2 family restaurant - you can access entry from lobby area.

The hotel is located near shinagawa station, though slightly uphill. Front desk staffs were friendly. Good for early morning shinkansen rides out of Tokyo.

My husband and I booked this location for our first night in Japan. It’s a 10 min walk if that from Shinagawa station which is a major hub for the Yamanote line which connects you to Tokyo and the Shinkansen which can take you anywhere on mainland Japan. Room is small by western standards, but the bed(full size) is comfy and the room has everything you need. Would book this location again if I found myself in the area again.

Came early and was able to drop off my luggage. Less than two mins of Shinagawa station. Hotel staff was super friendly. Don't need to pay extra for the breakfast through the hotel, cheaper to pay if you decide to eat at the restaurant that the hotel uses for breakfast.

Hotel is conveniently located near shinagawa satiation. Overall very ideal in price , location and service. However note that rooms are small and therefore a party of two should always take the twin bed option ( as the room size is bigger). The superior double bed room size is the same as single bed. Ideal for one person, but cramped for two people. Laundry facilities available. Free coffee and tea provided

Good experiences while staying at this hotel. Location is very good.

The location is good..few minutes walk from shinagawa station and there’s a small shopping mall opposite the station. However the aircon is centralize is quite warm at night without even need to turn on the warmer...

Was only here for one night. Found it easily once I exited Shinagawa Station. Have to walk on the pedestrian bridge. Clean hotel and they even give you a welcome gift. Self check out by returning the key card in the morning.

Standard hotel..nothing fancy. A bit distance to convinience store. But quite close to station.

This hotel is our speed - a place to sleep, shower, and get out to see Tokyo. My review is aimed at Westerners who have no experience with Japanese 'business hotels'. The lobby is staffed with English speaking, friendly clerks and that's it. You pick your own room amenities (coffee, tea, bathroom necessities like cotton squares and swabs) from the lobby counter and bring them to your room. The rooms are small but not unworkable. There is a fridge and an iron, hot water kettle, coffee cups, hair dryer, a Lenovo tablet, a TV, small alarm clock, a robe (changed daily) and disposable slippers. The bathrooms have the usual 'washlet' bidet and heated toilet seats :-) yay. As with all the hotels we stayed at, we were provided with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, and drinking cups. Daily replaced amenities included toothbrush/toothpaste, razor, disposable washcloth, hairbrush. No hand lotions. Towels (all hotels we stayed at ) were one hand and one bath towel per person. We could have asked for more but decided not to. The bath has a clothes line. Plenty of outlets and ethernet cables if need be. No breakfast is provided, you can get your own at the Royal Host next door (or even McDonalds closer to the station) but we picked up plenty of breakfast items at the station conbini (Kinokuniya and a Daily News) but head to the Konan side of the station for the food at Dean Deluca and Atre! OMG! This isn't the closest hotel to Shinagawa station but the price was right. Only other downside was room temperature can't be regulated although you can open the window, and our wifi kept dropping one night.

A typical business type hotel, which ideally caters for short/medium stays. You may struggle a little with large suitcases. Generally very clean. My stay was in a warmish November where there is a dated heating system but no air-con. A stand alone water evaporator cooling unit is provided, which I would question its efficiency in a hot summer. Reception staff very friendly and helpful making this a comfortable stay.

pretty good overall. twin bed room was great but the bed for double room is slightly too small for 2 persons.

Great value and location. Plenty of room in the bathroom. Room was too hot and there is no way to adjust climate. Wifi was good but it kept dropping connection. Good selection of amenities in the lobby.

The best part of this hotel was how convenient it was. Once you leave the hotel there are many things to eat which made the trip much easier for us. It was also conveniently located a walk away from the station which helped with our luggage.

The hotel is located not very far from Shinagawa station. The staff can communicate good English and help us a lot.

It is located near Shinagawa station. Hotel doesn’t have own restaurant but there are many restaurants nearby. I like this hotel.
