We were upgraded to a suite for our anniversary and i cannot rate this hotel enough. It is more than a hotel it is an experience in luxury and quality. the staff and facilities are another level and thank you for the memories x
Beautiful property, beautiful location, excellent staff, attention to detail. Everything was perfect!
Nothing. We loved everything.
Arguably the nicest hotel i have ever been to! The friendliest and most professional staff i have ever met! Alessandra at the reception is someone who makes you love the hotel from the second you arrive! 10/10 this hotel
I tried to find but honestly nothing!
An absolutely beautiful hotel with the most impeccable service. Incredible attention to detail in getting to know us and finding little ways to delight us each day. They have a head of customer experience and she was wonderful; as was Luigi one of our servers! Very kind and thoughtful all around.

We are a family of hotel lovers that travel quite a lot (see previous reviews) and typically stay at/love Four Seasons… this was our first Belmond and I’ve been totally blown away. We flew here to celebrate my 40th birthday. Ravello is up “on the hill”, away from the hustle and bustle of Amalfi “down on the water”. At first, we were a little nervous to be away from the coast for an Amalfi Coast trip, but turns out Ravello and the Caruso are absolute gems. Truly it’s not a far distance, but the twists and turns of the road will make it a 20-25 drive. This hotel is perfect. The grounds are immaculate with flowers and fruit trees everywhere you look. The staff is excellent. I called in-room dining one night, ordered quickly for my husband and my daughter and couldn’t decide on what to order for myself and Luigi immediately said “you should try pasta tonight since you had pizza the other night”. I was actually laughing so hard because I couldn’t get over the fact that this (I’m certain) very busy staff member remembered my order from two or three nights ago?! When I said that to him on the phone, he laughed and replied “I just love my job”. That’s just one example of the level of service they provide. There are no slip-up’s here. Everything was flawless from start to finish. The food at the poolside restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was great, such a view. Everything is perfect from the plates to the quality of the food. Our room and housekeeping were excellent as well. We’d leave for an hour to grab food and our room would be made up in that short time! The doormen were literally kissing our daughter goodbye. We never return places and we’re dreaming of returning here already. Just go ahead and visit!
We were part of a family group staying at the hotel celebrating our parents Wedding Anniversary. It's a special hotel. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds. Lovely location, swimming in the pool overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Easy walking distance to Ravello. Delicious food in the grill and restaurants. Kind staff. Relaxing hotel, so not to noisy. Pleasant atmosphere. Very clean and well looked after in general. And a fair value for money. We will definitely be back. We loved it.
Belmond Hotel Caruso gave us the best hotel experience we have ever had. From our very first interaction with the hotel’s car service through check-in and every moment of our stay, each staff member we encountered was exceptionally warm, helpful, and welcoming. After traveling throughout Italy, we chose to end our trip with a few days in Ravello while celebrating my husband’s birthday and our wedding anniversary, and the entire experience exceeded anything we could have imagined. The thoughtful touches were truly unparalleled. We arrived to handwritten notes and beautiful gifts in our room, including wine, limoncello, and strawberries. The nightly turndown service and so many unexpected, delightful details made every day feel incredibly special. We were also generously upgraded to a junior suite with a private terrace. We were so touched that we nearly cried. It was one of those rare moments that we will remember forever. Hotel Caruso is a truly extraordinary place, not only because of its beauty, but because of the genuine care shown by its staff. We left feeling incredibly grateful and already hoping to return someday. With gratitude, The Salazars
We have been here many times over the years. Never disappoints. Even better since the upgrade. Exceptional location, service, dining and pool area. Highly recommended.
The Caruso lives up to the Belmond standards and the town is just perfect to enjoy the coast without the crowds!
I have been to many beautiful hotels but this is by far the best I have experienced. If you can go, do not hesitate.
I had the pleasure of staying at Caruso in 2007. It was after that trip that I told myself I would make it back here one day because of how special this place is. I was lucky to make that dream come true and it was all that I remembered and more. First, I must acknowledge the incredible staff. To me, beautiful hotels can certainly impress, but it's the people who create the experience and make you want to return! In particular, Iolanda, the General Manager, was spectacular, charming, personable, accommodating, and genuinely approachable. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and is a true asset to the property. I wish her nothing but continued success and all the very best. Antonietta, Alessandra & Gabriella at the front desk, were wonderful. Not only were they able to upgrade us to a jaw-dropping suite, but every interaction we had with them was professional, friendly, and exemplified the highest level of customer service. At the restaurants, Chef Christian, Carmine, Giovanni, Marco & Nicola welcomed us with smiles and wowed us with memorable meals and wonderful conversation. Marilena, the guest experience manager was a delight. It's very apparent that she is passionate about her position and providing above and beyond experiences for her guests. The service here is truly five-star. As is the stunning infinity pool that is constantly listed as one of the world's best. The commitment to customer service and refined hospitality really impressed me. Staff constantly greeted me by my last name, they would check in to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as it could be and were happy to acknowledge and follow through on my requests. We spent most of our time by the pool, swimming to the infinity edge, soaking in the breathtaking views of the winding coastline and the mountains in the distance. It was the perfect place to unwind, indulge, lose track of time and never want to leave. The poolside restaurant was my happy place. One of my favorite memories is seeing the plumes from pizza oven smokestack, which brought a smile to my face as I knew what delicious pizzas were coming our way. God they were good! Lets not forget to mention the impressive breakfast service. The beautiful fresh made pastries, the enticing meat and cheese station looked over by a delightful attendant, all the traditional breakfast items and a full menu if you would like something more substantial. All with a gorgeous view overlooking the coast. We dined at Caruso Grill our last night for dinner where Carmine and Giovanni wowed us with a fantastic table in an intimate and beautiful setting. I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Christian hard at work with his team and as expected, every dish was incredible. Our junior suite 205, (which seems like an understatement) was an absolute dream. A bathroom with windows offering mountain views, a terrace to enjoy meals on and chaises for private lounging with views of the coast, a spacious living and dining area and a bed that i could stay in forever. The turndown service was quite memorable, as I had never been offered a memory foam foot pillow placed at the side of my bed to relax my feet prior to laying down. If we are fortunate to make it back to Ravello one day, we look forward to seeing all the staff and experiencing all that the Belmond Caruso has to offer. They made memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives and we are truly grateful. Side note...If any of you are cat lovers, Ravello, aside from its endless beauty, history and architecture is known as "cat village" as the cats that wander the streets are protected by Italian law and most of them would love your attention!
If you're looking for elegance and exceptional accommodations and staff, this is the place to stay in Ravello.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unforgettable experience at Hotel Caruso in Ravello. We enjoyed both an aperitivo at the Caruso Bar and dinner at the Caruso Grill, and everything was simply outstanding. The breathtaking setting, exceptional food and drinks, and impeccable service made for a truly memorable evening. A special thank you to Carmine and the entire Caruso Bar team for their warm hospitality and attention to detail during aperitivo. Equally, our sincere thanks to Giovanni and the Caruso Grill team for delivering a fantastic dining experience with professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care. The combination of world-class service, stunning views, and an elegant atmosphere makes Hotel Caruso a place we will never forget. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. Thank you all for a wonderful evening! Noemi & Giorgio
Il manque une enceinte pour écouter de la musique dans la chambre
I was not staying at the property, but just having lunch and was able to see a room. It is the most beautiful hotel! The rooms were stunning with views to match. Lunch by the pool was quiet and delicious with the best service by Giovanni and his staff. They made my friend and I feel as we were special guests. Hotel Caruso is a must see. I will be returning to stay!
Staying at Caruso was one of the highlights of our Amalfi coast experience. We truly enjoyed our stay & wish we had spent more time, there is always a next time:)
I cannot say enough positive things about this property. The service from beginning to end was superb. We loved the location in Ravello, and the view is unmatched. All dining, including breakfast, the Caruso Grill, and Il Pantaleone, was fabulous. The tasting menu at Il Pantaleone was a work of art, with every element carefully crafted with intention. We participated in the Coastline of Treasures' complimentary daily boat tour, and I would highly recommend it. Once again, the view from the water was beautiful. Caruso sets the standard for professionalism, hospitality, and attentiveness, providing guests with an outstanding experience.
We weren’t staying here but felt we had to post after such a refined drink in the bar. beautiful fresco on ceiling and the most attention serving of two glasses of champagne we’ve ever seen . Like Ravello itself true Old School grandeur. thank you
This was our third visit, and once again we were truly impressed by the level of hospitality, professionalism, and care shown by the hotel staff. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel warmly welcomed and genuinely valued as guests. The attention to detail, the kindness of the team, and the consistently outstanding service are a big part of why we continue to return. It is rare to find a hotel that maintains such a high standard year after year, and your team does so beautifully. We had another exceptional stay.
The service was exceptional, and every staff member seemed to go above and beyond. Enza was especially thoughtful — she knew we were heading to Rome next and printed a list of her favorite restaurants and food recommendations — and Luigi at the front door was warm, friendly, and kind. Breakfast was outstanding, with beautiful views over the Amalfi Coast from breakfast and our room. The hotel is also perfectly located in Ravello, within easy walking distance of the charming town. The room was spacious and well stocked, with a Dyson hair dryer, Nespresso machine, tea setup, stocked fridge, and a great bathtub.
The room decor felt somewhat dated for a property at this level, and the robes were disappointing — they looked rumpled and did not feel especially soft or comfortable. We also did not have time to use many of the amenities during our stay but that’s on us - as the pool looked beautiful.
Our very favorite place to visit. The hospitality, service, food and overall experience are unmatched. KUDOS to the Staff and all involved.
We visited the Caruso Grill at the Caruso Hotel in Ravello to celebrate my wife's birthday and we had an exceptional experience. Although a relatively casual restaurant, the views were stunning and the staff outstanding. Giovanni, the captain, gave us a tour of the kitchen so we could see the day's catch and put together a tasting menu in a flash. I would suggest Caruso Grill to anyone searching for a casual but memorable experience.
This hotel has to be one of the best we have ever stayed in. Food was amazing, the staff were exceptional, the excursions were out of this world. Definitely the place to stay in Amalfi ( Ravello).
We spent 8 magnificent nights at Hotel Caruso. We did NOT want to leave. Absolutely everything was perfect and we enjoyed every single minute. Can’t wait to return!
Everything! So elegant and charming & the staff is top tier!
This was our third stay, and it somehow keeps getting better every time. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and were welcomed so warmly—it truly felt special from the moment we arrived. The team goes above and beyond, creating an experience that feels both personal and effortless. Our suite was incredible, and every detail of our stay exceeded expectations. Even in the hours before our departure, when we were quietly dealing with the loss of our beloved dog, the kindness and care around us meant more than we could fully express. This place and the people here hold such a special place in our hearts—we can’t wait to return.
Everything
This hotel will always be very special to me. It’s heaven on earth. The views are magnificent. I love breakfast and the pool restaurant. Our room was very spacious and we loved it. It’s literally perfection.
View and location and people work there
We like everything there
A historic palazzo between sky and sea, famed for its floating infinity pool, fragrant gardens, and impeccable service romance perfected on the Amalfi Coast.
Wonderful Staff at Caruso. The staff made our stay very special.
Highly recommend. Amazing location and the staff made us feel like family. Food was incredible and can’t wait to return
Such a treat to finally return to Ravello and spend a few nights at the Caruso. The view is spectacular! Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the festive pizza making party on Friday evening.
Es un lugar maravilloso único especial cada persona es una atención especial la verdad me enamore de ese lugar de cada persona tan maravillosa todo es hermoso
The Hotel Caruso is pure magic — perched above Ravello with dreamlike views and timeless elegance. Our room was beautiful and serene, and breakfasts were truly exceptional. But what makes this place unforgettable is the staff: warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. A rare blend of luxury and heart. Can’t wait to return!
If you are booking a stay or planning to visit the Caruso, I’d imagine your expectations are already starting at a pretty high level. Believe me when I say, the hospitality and dedication to your enjoyment while at the Caruso will undoubtable far exceed whatever it is you may be imagining awaits. The Vistas: Photos do not do justice to physically being there. The view from just about every corner of the property (especially at the pool) is so inconceivably breathtaking that if they chose to provide the bare minimum of services, you wouldn’t blame them nor mind because it is just that awe inspiring. The Service: However, “rest on their laurels” they do not. From the moment we arrived, every single individual we encountered treated us as if we had been traveling with them for years. Attentive and accommodating, never overbearing. I genuinely thought for a moment that perhaps they had mistaken me for some kind of foreign dignitary. But no, they are just. That. Good. The Food: Traveling in Italy, you don’t expect the food to just be good, you expect it to be great, and in some cases life altering. For the most part, across our trip up and down the coast, eventually making our way north to Florence, the food was very much “great.” However, one of the few instances to approach “life altering” occurred here at our lunch. The freshest sea food, pasta and unexpectedly the most remarkable fresh fruit I’ve ever tasted. It was the simplest thing, a strawberry, divided and filled with what I believe was a sorbet. It propelled me back through time, to memories of eating strawberry ice cream with my grandmother. Outstanding. Overall Impression: Anytime spent in Ravello is likely to be a highlight of your trip. But time spent at the Caruso elevates your experience to the point of potentially becoming a highlight of your life. A sincere thank you to the entire team, we hope to return soon.
The setting is gorgeous, the views are breathtaking, and the hotel is beautiful—but what truly makes Hotel Caruso special is the people. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel like family. Antoinetta at the front desk went above and beyond, helping with everything from questions, bookings, changing tours and even ice for an injury. Josie was equally kind and welcoming. The food at Caruso was our favorite of the entire Italy trip, even compared to the Michelin restaurants we tried. We loved the bar menu most, followed by the Grille. The bar became our favorite place to relax—Carmine greeted us each evening with the warmest smile and made every night fun. Tommaso, the manager, was wonderful too (his special gimlet is a 10/10!). And of course, Luigi, the doorman, greeted us every day with genuine warmth and charm. Caruso is so much more than a beautiful hotel—the staff and their thoughtful touches make the experience truly unforgettable.
The staff were lovely and made the experience even more special. A must-visit! While staying at the hotel, we discovered the boutique and were amazed, we found the most comfortable and stylish shoes ever!
One of the great hotels of the world
Very expensive
From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced by grace. Everything flowed effortlessly — the smiles, the warmth, the calm beauty in every corner. Belmond is not just a hotel; it’s a feeling of belonging, of being genuinely cared for. My heartfelt thanks to General Manager Iolanda Mansi and her wonderful team for making every moment unforgettable. There was serenity in the details, emotion in the view, and soul in every gesture. I left feeling grateful — and already longing to return.
From the moment we checked in Rosie the concierge was very welcoming. She assigned Elise to give us a tour of the hotel and the spectacular upgrade to an oceanfront suite. The hotel was built near the foundations of an 11th century Palazzo. My suite was a partial archaeological monument the master suite encompassed some of the original walls and the brick dome. Everything you want is at hand with leather covered Espresso machines and hot water kettle! Piero the porter was careful in bringing up the suitcases, up the stairs to the separate master’s suite. The hotel was also exceptionally meticulous in receiving.my clothing purchases in Italy which were waiting at the Hotel for me. Every morning the included buffet breakfast was spectacular. Starting with fresh seasonal berries and eggs of your choice. The Caruso version of an eggs Benedict was delicious. Prawn omelette with caviar was also excellent. Fresh squeezed juices were abundant. The view from the breakfast area of the Amalfi coast and the waterfront villages are unforgettable. I followed breakast at 9 am with a 20 minute swim in the infinity pool. Swimming with view of parallel mountain tops or looking over the edge at the villages and the coast is unique. Marco the pool attendant was alway ready with a towel and a bottle of sparkling water (my preference) the pool water was 28 degrees Centigrade to 24 degrees when it was very windy. Very comfortable for lap swimming. Bravo Hotel Caruso. Hope to visit again!
This boat day was a birthday surprise, and it turned out to be one of the best days of my life. The Aprea was immaculate and felt brand new, but what truly made the experience unforgettable were our captains, Francesco and Antonio. They went above and beyond in every way — from taking beautiful photos for us, to showing us hidden coves and the most picturesque spots along the coast, to serving wine, champagne, and the most gorgeous plates of fresh fruit, cheeses, and prosciutto. They even brought us to a hidden gem, Maria Grazia, for an incredible seaside lunch that we’ll never forget. Francesco and Antonio were the perfect hosts: true gentlemen, thoughtful, kind, and so knowledgeable about the area. Their attention to detail and care made us feel like royalty. If you have the chance to book the Aprea, don’t hesitate. It was pure magic — the kind of day you dream about, and one I will treasure forever. (Note: This review is just for the boat experience. I’ll be sharing a separate review on the hotel soon.)
My wife and I went to lunch here and were treated like royalty. I had a lobster special that was truly the best dish I’ve had in my time in Italy. Luigi, Giusi and Giovanni provided excellent service and were very hospitable. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
The Caruso is a breathtaking world class hotel in Ravello. Absolutely stunning pool, grounds, and view. Simply the very best customer service.. the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness. Highlights of our four day stay would be the beautiful hotel boat trip along the Amalfi coast to Positano and back, long days at the pool with five star service and food, incredible dinner at their Belvedere restaurant. Congratulations to all the staff of this amazing hotel. Thank you
I am a frequent traveller, thus I have been in iconic hotels all over the world … but the Caruso Belmond went beyond my imagination .. the unique view, the ancient building, the elegant decoration, thwarm hospitality ALL extraordinary. A MAGIC place, look forward to returning. A special thank to Jolanda and Emilia for having treated me so well
Wonderful dinner at the Caruso Grill with impeccable, friendly, and genuine service from Alex and team. Starting from the entrance the ambiance fits into the beautiful Italian coastal scenery and the restaurant itself overlooks the ocean. We were incredibly lucky to be in Ravello on an evening with fireworks and had a front row seat to the show! In addition to the view, the food is amazing. After having eaten across Italy, the Caruso certainly ranks very high for quality of ingredients and preparation. The Eggplant Parmagiana was flavorful, the house made pasta delicious, and local seafood grilled simply to perfection. Everything is treated with care to extract the best flavor of the natural ingredient; the traditional cooking style really brings out the best in the amazing local produce. Last, we have to give a big thanks to Alex again for making our night very special. Even in a room full of guests he made us feel special and cared for. While we didn’t get to stay at the Caruso this time we certainly will be back for more than dinner on our next trip!
We had lunch at Caruso Grill and loved every moment. The location is truly stunning and the food is excellent. Based on recommendation from staff Giovanni and Luigi, we had the Caprese, spaghetti Caruso and grilled sea-bream. It was all so delicious. Also we loved the open kitchen and meeting the chef directly. A true highlight of our trip on the Amalfi coast. Thank you Giovanni and Luigi!
Our stay at the Caruso Hotel in Ravello was nothing short of a dream. Having traveled extensively, we can honestly say this is the finest hotel experience we have ever had. From the very first moment we arrived, the warmth, attentiveness, and genuine care of the staff made us feel not only welcome, but truly cherished. Every detail was so thoughtfully considered that it felt as though the entire property was working in harmony to create something magical just for us. The setting itself is breathtaking – perched high above the Amalfi Coast with sweeping views that take your breath away – but what truly sets the Caruso apart is its extraordinary service. The team anticipated needs we didn’t even know we had and went above and beyond at every turn. No request was too small, no detail overlooked, and every gesture was carried out with such grace and professionalism. Most importantly, they made our daughter’s wedding an experience that will forever live in our hearts. What could have been a stressful occasion was instead seamless, elegant, and unforgettable. Every aspect of the celebration was elevated by their dedication – from the flawless coordination to the personal touches that made the day uniquely ours. They created not just a wedding, but a memory that will be cherished for generations. The Caruso is more than a hotel; it is a place where moments become memories, and where every guest feels part of something truly special. For anyone considering a destination wedding or simply the most memorable stay of their life, we cannot imagine a more perfect place than the Caruso.
Stayed here to celebrate a birthday and it did not disappoint. Beautiful room with a view and a bucket list experience. Perfection and a treat from start to finish - from the handwritten welcome note and leaving note (and gift) from the manager to the lovely kind staff at reception , concierge, breakfast and the pool. Special mention to Gabriela at reception, and Giusi, Jada & Julia at breakfast. We didn’t catch everyone’s names but everyone was so lovely. Thank you for making this a trip to remember!
We travel few times a year on leisure and I usually don’t write a review unless I had a really good or really bad experience. I have been going to Amalfi Coast every year from the States for over 25 years. We find the region beautiful, relaxing with great food. We started going to Hotel Caruso in 2005 when they first opened and have been going there ever since missing one year because of COVID. Usually we visit few places before we end our vacation there and we always realize this is the best hotel that we stayed on our trip. We just completed our visit and as usual it was prefect at Caruso. Frankly I was a bit worried at first after Alfonzo the General Manager moved to Belmond Splendido but the new General Manager Iolanda which I know for years has done an amazing job continuing the experience. I want to thank her and all her team for an amazing experience we had again and hope to see everyone next year.
We went to the Caruso Belmond for an “aperitif” as a group of 9. The whole experience was memorable. We were sat by the infinity pool with stunning views of the Amalfi coast. Our Negronis were some of the best we’ve had. We then had some tasters brought to us - heavenly. The service was impeccable. It was a truly magical event and I would unreservedly recommend it to others.
Service and food were amazing! The pool was spectacular! Staff the best I have ever had..
Belmond Caruso exceeded every expectation from the moment we arrived. The property is stunning, with breathtaking views over Ravello, immaculate gardens, and an infinity pool that feels like it touches the sky. But as beautiful as the hotel is, it was the people who made this experience unforgettable. Every staff member we met, from the groundskeepers to the pool attendants, treated us with warmth and care. Service felt both personal and anticipatory, with everyone remembering our names and preferences in a way that made us feel truly special. We celebrated my partner’s 50th birthday during our stay, and the team went above and beyond to make it magical. At the restaurant, by the pool, and even on the private boat, every detail was handled with thoughtfulness. A special mention goes to Antonio and Francesco, who hosted us on the Caruso boat day. The boat was beautiful, and their hospitality was extraordinary, they even surprised us with candid photos, giving us memories to treasure. This was our first Belmond stay, and it has set a new standard. We usually choose Four Seasons, but after this experience, Belmond will always be at the top of our list. Truly unforgettable.
Superb location, can’t wait to be back! Good food, excellent service and amazing view! Highly recommended
From the moment we arrived, we were blown away at the beauty of the hotel. No one does style and elegance like the Italians, and the Belmond epitomises this. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the room we were given was beautiful with an amazing view over the coast. However, we were directly next to the balcony in reception, so every morning when we were sitting outside, people were coming out onto this balcony from the reception, so there was very little privacy. On our first night, we ate at the Belvedere restaurant and had the fish tasting menu, which was delicious. The second night, we ate at the Grill and had a poor experience. We were seated in a corner and felt forgotten. After a long wait, we were asked what food we wanted even though no one had asked us if we wanted a drink. We ordered the tune tarta, which was swimming in a tasteless sauce. I then ordered a pizza, and this was one of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten. It was a wet, sloppy, and tasteless lump of dough. We reported this to the team, and the manager came over and apologised and did not charge us for the food we ate, which was the right thing to do. The next day, the head chef spoke to us and apologised. He asked us to try again, and we declined due to the previous nights experience. This was the last evening meal we had at the hotel. The swimming pool is simply stunning with the best view we have ever seen from a pool. Staff were attentive, and the food at the bar, including the lobster rolls, was delicious. The bar is a great place to enjoy an evening drink and again the staff were wonderful. The reception team and concierge could not do enough for us and always greeted us with a smile. They also recommended a great fish restaurant called Trattoria Lorenzo, which was superb and only a 15-minute drive away. At breakfast, there is a vast choice of cheeses, meats, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, and hot dishes, and I have to say the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever eaten. Simple yet cooked and seasoned perfectly. The question is would we stay again at this hotel and the answer is a huge yes. Even though the Grill restaurant let us down and our rooms balcony lacked privacy, we couldn't fault anything else.
Vista increible, Comodidades e instalaciones insuperables, La Paz del lugar despierta las mejores sensaciones, con una gran atención de sus empleados comprometidos con el turista y que hacen que todo sea muy fácil y se disfrute el doble. Hiperrecomendable
Today was a great happening in Ravello, at the Hotel Caruso Belmond. Hospitality, Professionalism, and Class. All coordinated by the mastery of Giovanni S. A wonderful experience of relaxation and well-being. Strolling through the lush gardens with breathtaking views was a thrill for the soul. In the spirit of friendship and sharing, we enjoyed the chef's delicacies and were pampered by the Grill Bar staff. What can I say? Thank you all so much. See you soon for new experiences.
Everything-room, hotel facilities, the pool and pool club, restaurants, hotel bar, staff, service-everything was fantastic. There are daily, complimentary boat trips to positano and the rest of the coast which are really worth doing.
Nothing
We loved Ravello and the trip was made by this wonderful hotel. The setting, quality of the rooms, amazing service and restaurants makes it somewhere we would love to revisit. Having not been to the Amalfi for 20 years, Ravello was much quieter and peaceful than the chaos of Capri and Positano. Caruso is somewhere I cannot recommend more highly.
Simply one of the best hotels on the Amalfi coast. Beautiful hotel rooms along with beautiful pools with views overlooking the Amalfi and Salerno Italy 🇮🇹. The views from all lounging areas and bars and restaurant are spectacular. Highly recommend having a spritz by the pool and taking a nice dip in the pool when you are staying there. I must thank Luigi the concierge for his welcoming, greetings very professional. Thank you, Luigi. and all the staff at the bars and lounges what a great experience.
We loved the serene space in Ravello and at the Caruso in the mountains. Coming to the Amalfi coast in August is complete madness but Caruso crated a lovely serene experience in Ravello. The attention to detail is wonderful including the service, room, outdoor gardens, pool, Caruso grilll - everything was lovely!
The Amalfi coast in Italy feels like a mix between sprawling, gorgeous coastal views of the Mediterranean, and crazy one-way streets piled with traffic and crazy crowds in Positano. Well, Caruso Belmond gives you the best of both worlds: beautiful views of the coast, no crowds or crazy traffic. The staff was excellent, the facilities were clean and modern, the food was delectable, and our stay was on of the best we've ever had. Ravello is a true Gem in Amalfi, and an amazing place to stay while you explore the coast. We cannot recommend this enough to people as a great stay in Amalfi.
Everything about the place was pure luxury and class, food views, staff all outstanding
Nothing
Caruso is not just a place to stay. It is a place that stays with you. Perched high above Ravello with views that almost defy belief, it combines historic charm with calm, understated luxury and offered a sense of peace that is hard to describe. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth. Every team member we encountered was thoughtful, kind and attentive without being overbearing. Their instinct for service is exceptional and quietly confident. Lunch at Belvedere was a highlight. The ingredients spoke for themselves and the setting was elegant without trying too hard. The service was faultless, and the pizza from the famous original oven will live long in my memory. There is something very special about this place. The beauty is obvious, but it is the atmosphere, the people and the care that make Caruso unforgettable. Credit to Dan Ruff and Iolanda Mansi ❤️
The hotel does everything right in unexpected ways
Review for the Spa! After a long rainy day exploring and walking all over, I walked in utterly drenched to the front desk, and asked for the spa. The concierge was so kind and escorted me down. The therapist working was so sweet to me. She took my sopping wet poncho to hang over a towel, gave me a warm blanket and hot tea while I waited for my services. The facilities are beautiful, fully stocked and staffed with the most patient and delightful ladies. I cannot praise them enough to how well they took care of me. They took me from a wet exhausted mess to a relaxed human again. Thank you thank you!!
I don’t write reviews but this experience was so good that I feel like it’s the least I can do can’t wait to go back
I recently stayed at Caruso for four nights in early June with my wife and one-year-old, as the final stop on a trip through Italy. I had high hopes based on the glowing reviews and stunning photos, but I was not fully prepared for how much we would truly fall in love with this hotel. This is an exemplary luxury hotel and gem of the Amalfi Coast. Trip Planning/Pre-Arrival: We booked through a travel agent in Belmond’s Bellini Club, which gave us complimentary perks: a room upgrade at check-in (we were not offered one, due to the hotel being fully booked), a one-time €90 resort credit, daily breakfast (which I believe is already included for all guests), and priority late checkout (we were offered to stay until 1:30 pm when we asked). We communicated frequently with the concierge before arrival to arrange airport transfers, dinner reservations, and tours of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We also mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and our daughter’s first birthday. Responses were consistently prompt, professional, and helpful, with well-organized PDFs for excursion and restaurant suggestions. I also appreciated thoughtfulness when we requested a Pompeii tour. The concierge suggested stopping there en route from Naples Airport to the hotel, since it’s close to the airport. I hadn’t thought of this, which was a time and cost-saving suggestion versus making a separate trip all the way back there another day. Arrival: We arrived in Naples mid-morning, and everything went smoothly with the hotel-arranged transfer. We loved the driver, and were delighted when he was also our driver back to the airport at the end of the stay. This was a full-circle touch that felt serendipitous, whether intentional or not. The comfortable Mercedes van came stocked with bottled water and cool towels, and the plan to visit Pompeii on the way worked out perfectly. The private guide who met us there was excellent. She was engaging and accommodating while touring with a toddler on a hot day. After the tour, our driver was waiting and ready to continue on the scenic, winding mountain road to Caruso. Without any stops, the drive from Naples Airport takes roughly an hour. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed and led into the lobby, where we caught our first glimpse of the magical coastline view from high up in the cliffs. Rosy completed our check-in and was incredibly kind, offering us lemonade and a comfortable place to sit with our daughter. She embodied the perfect mix of professionalism and sincere warmth that we consistently experienced throughout our stay. Rosy also gave us a tour of the property, and we were immediately captivated by the gorgeous and well-maintained historic hotel. It evokes a charming, bygone era where you can easily imagine famous past guests like Jackie Kennedy and Greta Garbo strolling the halls and gardens. Room: One thing I’d recommend is that the hotel improve its website information on the different room types. Many room types have similar names and descriptions, and the photos don’t show consistent things across room categories, so it’s hard to compare. At one point before reserving our room, our travel agent reached out for clarification on differences between room types, but we never got a real answer. We ended up reserving a Superior Sea View Junior Suite with Garden, hoping for ample indoor and outdoor space. After settling in, we realized we really didn’t like the room we were given (35). It felt small, with a particularly disjointed and tight entrance and bathroom layout. The room also felt a little tired. While there was some vintage charm, many furnishings and accessories were dated. A refresh of the rooms that preserves their classic style would be very welcome. The biggest issue, however, was that the room felt subterranean, with windows looking up at the garden like being in a basement. To access the garden, you had to go out the door and up a set of stairs, making it dark with no view at all from the room itself. This was in spite of the website description for this room type promising that guests could “savour the spectacular views of the Bay of Salerno from your picture window.” The stairs and raised sections also made it tricky for our daughter, who had just recently started to walk. However, the garden itself was beautiful and huge, filled with beautiful flowers as well as a grassy lounge area and dining table with a sea view. A bit dissatisfied with the room given its high cost, I reached out to the staff to explain our concerns. They seemed genuinely invested in helping, but since the hotel was fully booked that night, said they’d get back to us the next day. As promised, the next morning, a staff member greeted us in the lobby as soon as we arrived back from an excursion. They offered a complimentary upgrade to a Sea View Suite with Garden (now a full Suite rather than a Junior Suite). The new room (32) was just a couple doors down, but a major improvement. It was significantly larger and a bit more updated, with a separate living area, full dining table for four, and four-poster bed. The bathroom was also much larger and more functional, with dual vanities. The garden, while smaller, was more usable: it had a flat, direct path outside, perfect for our daughter, and included a comfortable covered area with a dining table and daybed. Though the view was slightly more obstructed, it was still beautiful and the view was visible from inside the room. The staff were incredibly gracious about the move. Three bellmen were sent to help us, offering to transfer everything as-is so we wouldn’t need to pack. Though we still packed our loose items to make things easier, the team made the process seamless. They insisted on handling everything and did so quickly and kindly. We also appreciated welcome amenities that were left in our room: a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, fresh cherries, bottled water, and a welcome note (though it surprisingly didn’t mention our special occasions). Later, our daughter received a kids’ backpack and a coral-shaped stuffed animal. Each Belmond property in Italy has its own stuffed animal character, so we were excited to add this one to our collection. The hotel also provided excellent baby amenities. In addition to offering a crib, we received towels, washcloths, a diaper pail, a high chair, and a changing table. This was the first luxury hotel we’ve visited with our daughter that offered a changing table in the room, and it was so helpful to have. The room was quiet and peaceful, but we noticed guests made heavy use of their balconies and gardens (rightfully so, given the amazing views), which meant we often overheard conversations while outside, which was no big deal. We were more bothered, however, when guests above us played loud music and smoked marijuana on their balcony, directly affecting us via unpleasant smell and noise in such a peaceful place. Housekeeping was excellent, well-timed, and thorough. Turndown included nice surprises like lemon candies or larger food items, though the food items weren’t always clearly labeled, which would have been helpful. On our last night, we found a farewell bottle of limoncello in the room, which was a very thoughtful touch. Pool: A crown jewel of Caruso is its gorgeous infinity pool with dramatic views over the coast. The views of the nearby hillside town of Scala were also just as beautiful from the opposite side. The setting and views are truly jaw-dropping, and the area as you approach, with arbors and plantings of flowers, is so beautiful. We also loved how things were set-up with a variety of areas to sit, including near the pool or in grassy space nearby. We absolutely loved spending time at the pool, where the staff members were incredibly kind and helpful. They remembered us and our daughter from day to day, offering her a baby float for the pool, and always making sure we had everything we needed. Although they provided a button you could hit for service, it was rarely necessary, since they were around so often. Complimentary waters and Evian face spray were provided, as were small snacks of potato chips and olives that were refilled as needed. There was a cart with complimentary granita as well. Despite being told it was heated, the pool itself was a little chilly during our stay in early June. It is also odd that it is only shallow for a couple feet before dropping off to a depth of seven feet for the remainder of the pool, which isn’t the most useful in a hotel setting. However, we did enjoy time in the shallow portion. The only other minor negative at the pool is that there is no food service when seated at your lounge chair. There is a lovely poolside restaurant that we visited for lunch almost every day and really enjoyed, but it’s sometimes preferable to just have food delivered informally while lounging. I recall the hotel advertising a nearby private beach area in prior years, but I heard nothing of it during our stay, so I believe it has been removed as an amenity. The pool is so enjoyable that beach access didn’t feel necessary. Dining: We found food and beverage at Caruso to be strong suits of the property, and could easily have eaten every meal there. Dining options include: Poolside Restaurant: This lovely spot offered consistently fresh and flavorful food. The lobster pasta was a standout, as was the Caruso Lemon Experience cocktail, which was perfectly refreshing. The staff here were always thoughtful about our daughter’s needs, even offering to make her an off-menu fish and chips that she loved. Enza provided especially outstanding service. She remembered us, our preferences, and dietary restrictions by heart day to day. Caruso Grill: The more relaxed (but still not 100% casual) of the hotel’s two main restaurants, Caruso Grill, is housed in a beautiful open-air pavilion with views of the gardens and sea. It’s open for lunch and dinner, and quickly became a favorite of ours. We had dinner there on our first night and returned again because we enjoyed the solidly good food and warm, attentive service in a comfortable setting. Ristorante Belvedere: This is the more formal dinner venue with a tasting menu, which we didn’t try. It looked lovely, but Caruso Grill had similar views and was right next door. Bar Caruso: The hotel bar is important to us, and Bar Caruso truly delivered. The space oozes class and elegance, with a classic wood-paneled indoor section mostly used later in the evening, and a covered outdoor area with wicker chairs and amazing views that’s popular before dinner. Every drink we had was excellent, from a perfectly crafted martini to more creative specialty cocktails. Everyone there was very nice, but Carmine stood out for his bartending skills and warm personality. He was so wonderful, and I looked forward to chatting with him each night. Breakfast: Breakfast is served on a covered outdoor terrace near the indoor bar area, and comes with panoramic views and warm hospitality. The option to order freely from an à la carte menu was included, while also enjoying a cold buffet of fruit, cheeses, yogurt, pastries, juices, and prosecco. The staff were attentive to the point of literally running over to help so we didn’t have to serve ourselves from the buffet. Food quality was high, and the setting made it an enjoyable way to start the day. In-Room Dining: Breakfast was also included for us via room service, which we tried and enjoyed on a couple occasions. Orders always arrived on time and were thoughtfully set up by staff on our choice of our indoor or outdoor tables. We also ordered lunch on our arrival day, and it was tasty and well-presented. Location: Being in the charming town of Ravello felt magical. Walking right out of the hotel onto pedestrian-only cobblestone streets and wandering to the central piazza was delightful. We also enjoyed visiting Villa Rufolo and having dinner at Mimi Pizzeria, both recommended by the hotel. After touring other Amalfi Coast towns, we especially appreciated how Ravello never felt crowded. It was peaceful and quiet all times of day, in stark contrast to more tourist-heavy towns like Amalfi and Positano, where crowds were overwhelming. Moments like watching our daughter run around the piazza in Ravello with local kids were genuinely heartwarming. Caruso is located right next to Palazzo Avino, a competitor hotel with similar views. We stopped by there one evening for drinks at their Martini Bar to check it out. It was lovely too and worth seeing, but had a very different feel with a pink-focused décor. Ravello’s location also made logistics easy. While some Amalfi Coast towns are only reachable via the congested coastal road, Ravello has access to a scenic mountain road that leads back toward Naples. This meant we could get to and from the airport without being trapped in the infamous traffic that plagues the area in the high season. Excursions: Caruso includes a complimentary daily shuttle down to the town of Amalfi on a very nice mini-bus. It runs a couple times a day and takes about 15 minutes each way. The shuttle is also used for the hotel’s two complimentary boat tours that depart from Amalfi (one route in the morning, and another in the afternoon). We took the two-hour morning cruise, which went along the coast to Positano, where you could disembark for a few hours before an afternoon pickup, or stay onboard for a roundtrip. We stayed on, since we had visited Positano earlier in the trip. The wooden boat was beautiful, and the captain and crew member were very friendly. It was nice that complimentary drinks (water, soda, and prosecco) and snacks were offered, though the prosecco being served in paper cups felt unnecessarily lowbrow. As mentioned earlier, the concierge can also arrange paid excursions. We loved our two-hour Pompeii tour. We also booked a four-hour Amalfi Coast driving tour through them, but found it to be one of the few letdowns during our stay. The hotel’s description of the tour stated that “a private driver will be your guide for the day”, leading us to expect a fully guided tour through the various towns, helping avoid (or at least navigate) the most tourist-heavy spots. In reality, our driver, though incredibly kind, warm, and professional, mostly just took us from place to place and wasn’t truly a guide. Our stops in Positano and Amalfi had no direction, and ended up with us wandering in the most congested areas, exactly what we were hoping to avoid. Traffic was another issue. We spent much more time in the van than outside of it, largely in standstill traffic. What made it worse was that we had unknowingly booked the tour on Republic Day, a public holiday in Italy. Our driver said it was one of the worst days to be there, with traffic comparable to peak summer, despite being earlier in the season. Given how thoughtful they were with our Pompeii tour logistics, it felt like a surprising miss that the concierge team didn’t flag that we had unknowingly booked this on such a poor choice of days. We enjoyed the interesting contrast in perspective, seeing the coast from above on the road versus from a boat another day, but ultimately felt the driving tour was a waste of money. Kids: For those traveling with kids, it’s helpful to know that the clientele is mostly couples, (some younger, many older), but we did meet a few families, including one other with a toddler and several with school-age children or teens. That said, the overall vibe is definitely more adult. While I think it’s fine to stay here with kids, the atmosphere can make certain moments feel more stressful than at a more family-focused resort. The staff were exceptional and gracious, and the baby amenities in our room were exactly what we needed. Still, even the casual dining spots like the poolside restaurant and Caruso Grill, felt just a little formal for meals with a toddler. For example, our daughter got briefly fussy during one dinner, and an hour or so later when we left, several tables commented on it, not necessarily unkindly, but in a way that made it clear she had been an interruption. Staff Service: While we loved many things about Caruso, the impeccable service truly made us fall in love with the hotel. The service culture clearly starts at the top, and Iolanda, the general manager, deserves special recognition. I’ve never seen a hotel GM so directly involved and invested in the guest experience. She knew us and our daughter by name, regularly checked in, and clearly poured her heart into ensuring everyone had a phenomenal stay. We spoke with her at least once a day, and it was obvious that she set the tone for excellence. The staff clearly respect her, and she brings out the best in them through her passion for Caruso and careful oversight and stewardship of the property. A WhatsApp number was provided at check-in to contact hotel staff about anything we needed during our stay, and this was a great way to handle any requests or questions, which were always answered quickly and in a professional manner. However, the service at Caruso went beyond basic professionalism. The staff work together seamlessly, and genuinely feel like a family. We also appreciated how staff, particularly in food and beverage, rotated across venues, which added to the sense of familiarity. For example, a server on the buffet at breakfast might also be working at dinner at Caruso Grill, or a bartender in the evening might be serving at lunch by the pool the next day. A few other examples of Caruso’s caring service: -Staff would go out of their way to prevent guests from lifting a finger. For instance, when I planned to carry a couple of unfinished drinks from breakfast to our room, the staff insisted on escorting me to carry them for me. Similarly, when I inquired about ordering a pizza to-go from the pool restaurant, they insisted on delivering it directly, so I didn’t have to wait or carry anything myself. -Our daughter was warmly embraced by the team. One day, when she was peeking into the open kitchen at the poolside restaurant, the head chef waved us in and graciously let us observe, despite being mid-service. Throughout the property, staff members would remember her and always just seemed genuinely excited to see her and similarly would let her explore with ease. -Even minor slip-ups were proactively addressed. After a surprisingly long delay in getting glasses of wine we’d ordered at the pool bar one time (due to some confusion over finding the right bottle), a team member later came over, apologized, and removed the entire round of drinks from our bill. I hadn’t complained, which made the proactive nature of the gesture all the more impressive. -Service was anticipatory in ways that made even minor details smooth. At checkout, the staff had already loaded the luggage we had stored with them earlier in the day into our airport van without waiting for us to ask for it to be done. We could just step in the van and go. The service misses were limited. We were disappointed by the concierge’s lack of helpful guidance regarding the Amalfi Coast driving tour. We were also surprised that the hotel never acknowledged the special occasions we had flagged (our anniversary and daughter’s birthday), despite multiple mentions from both us and our travel agent. While we care more about genuine service than celebratory gestures, it felt like a surprising oversight. Overall: Overall, we absolutely loved Caruso. I don’t know that we’ve stayed at many hotels with such seamlessly aligned strengths: a stunning location with breathtaking views, beautiful facilities, and a staff that provides such a high level of service that feels effortless. Caruso is an idyllic Amalfi Coast retreat, and I truly hope we have the chance to visit again.
I have been wanting to check this hotel out and it did not disappoint. If literally can not say one they could have done better. The views, the service, the amentities offered, the products in the bathrooms, the snacks that you come back to the room to, the location were all absolutely wonderful. Yes, this is an expensive hotel but worth every penny. My teenager said that it was so peaceful. The breakfasts were very delicious with rotating baked goods every morning. The staff at the pool were attentive. When we arrived, they immediately whisked off the previous guests' towels and quickly laid new towels with out us asking. There were also buttons on each umbrella that you can press to have a staff member come to you. We will definitely return and stay longer next time!
Location is amazing, pool is mind blowing, had room service for lunch which was delicious. Had dinner at Belvedere, food was amazing, service took way too long.
Caruso was our final stop in the Amalfi Coast. We spent one night at the hotel and overall our experience was disappointing. When spending $3600 a night you expect the hotel and service to be mind blowing. We were given a room in the back corner of the hotel with a garden view, a nice room but nothing to rave about. We arrived to our room after exploring Ravello and noticed that we had a water leak in our bathroom. The water dripping on the marble floor made for an extremely slippery surface, I slipped and fell, no serious injuries but reported this to the hotel immediately. We were told that this would be addressed and left for dinner. Upon coming back to our room at 10pm, we arrived to find towels on the floor underneath the water leak. We called the reception and they said that there was nothing else they could do. This was not a resolution for us given that we had reported hours before with ample time to either resolve or change rooms. This is also not what you expect at this price point. We were checking out the next morning and just went to sleep. The next morning we called reception to get help with our suitcases. 10 minutes later nobody showed up and we ended up having to carry our luggage ourselves through the maze of stairs. Upon checkout the person at reception apologized for the water leak and offered us a $200 credit. The manager was unavailable and we were told that they would reach out to us, they never did. Before we came to Caruso we spent 5 nights at Le Sireneuse in Positano. The level of service, the facilities and the property blow Caruso out of the water, its not even close, not to mention we paid $3k a night for a room with an ocean view and private balcony. Overall it feels like Caruso is a big corporate hotel thats completely out of touch with what a luxury experience at the price point is meant to be. Disappointing.
We spent a few nights hear for an event we attended. My wife was very excited with all of the reviews she had read. When we arrived we felt we were being up sold on every little detail. They offered us some lemonade while we waiting to check in. They suggested drinking it buy the pool. Then have a bite while we make the room perfect. Well they charged us for the complimentary lemonade ( the region is known for lemons) After 3 pm the room was finally ready, what a view, we were told we had an ocean view, i guess in italian the bell tower translates into ocean, because that was our view. The staff didn't really care, very arrogant and almost, “ your lucky to be here” So we left and went to another very friendly hotel on the ocean( nope no more bell tower views) For the price I think there are ao many better places to stay. Food was a 4/10 and service was a 5/5 , attitude was a 10/10 ( not in a good way )
This was our third visit, and incredibly, ten years have passed since our very first stay to the day. Yet, the magic of the Caruso—perched high above the Amalfi Coast—has only deepened with time. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the same warmth, elegance, and breathtaking beauty that made us fall in love with the Caruso a decade ago. The staff remembered us by name and made every detail feel effortless and personalized. The hospitality is truly world-class—genuine, thoughtful, and delivered with a touch of Italian charm that never feels rehearsed. Special thanks to Tommaso and Carmine, who always make us feel like we are home and part of the Caruso Famiglia. The rooms remain as timeless and luxurious as ever, with sweeping views that still left us speechless each morning. The infinity pool--Still one of the most iconic in the world—floating above Ravello like a secret between the sky and sea. Thank you Marco and Marco Jr- for all your insights and history. Dining and sipping aperitivo on the terrace, dining on Chef Armando's exquisite meals at The Belvedere, making pizza with Mariano, and wandering through the fragrant gardens brought back so many cherished memories while creating new ones we’ll treasure for another ten years. Belmond Caruso isn’t just a hotel—it’s a living memory for us. It’s where elegance meets emotion, and where every visit feels like the best one yet. We’re already dreaming of our next return and hope to bring our nieces and nephews so they can meet our "Caruso Family" and experience the elegance and service of a bygone era that Caruso lives & breaths. Truly the people that make it-Thank you Iolanda Mansi and Congratulations on your 20th year! Grazie mille, Belmond Caruso. You’ve stolen our hearts once again. - Tricia & Marc
Giovanni and his team provided exceptional service, as did Iolanda. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return. This is among the most beautiful locations we have ever visited; the staff, food, and overall experience were fantastic. We highly recommend this establishment.
The breakfast was amazing, so many options and all super fresh. A highlight of the stay!
Other worldly. Best service, atmosphere, food, location. I have visited many times and it never disappoints...only gets better. GM, Yolanda is beyond helpful ..Roberta at front also amazing. Food and beverage service beyond.. Carmino at bar makes the best most creative cocktails imaginable. Pool service (thanks to Marco) the best!! Hard to find words that can live up to what the experience is like at the Caruso.
The best hotel we have ever stayed in! I proposed to my fiance at the Caruso, we were given a complimentary upgrade on arrival with an amazing terrace and sea view for me to propose on. The hotel manager met us on arrival and welcomed us to the hotel. Andrea & Francesca were amazing during our entire stay. We hope we can return one day!
A perfect stay in such a beautiful property. Seems like you go back in time. The staff made me feel like I was at home. Love their attention to details.
