Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Location of the hotel was good and nice views from the breakfast room.
Very dated property. Our bedroom was clean but very small with small double bed. No sea view for us sadly. Selection for breakfast was pretty good.
Balcony and views.
Decor dated. Carpets need replacing. Overpriced.
Excellent view's from the rooms facing the sea ... access to the pool and gym ... parking available in front of the hotel. Very adequate choice of breakfast and evening meals should you require ...
In some areas access was only available via stairs although there is a left covering most floors .. the decor of rooms for us was poor and in need of modernisation although there is evidence of maintenance taking place ..
Room and view excellent, breakfast good, staff attentive and polite. There seemed to be no staff shortages.
The meals in the dining room were just the specials menu and this did not change, except the soup, for 3 of our four dinners. Menu in bistro very good though.
The staff so unhelpful..breakfast half cooked bacon. Rock hard sosagge. Eggs Rock hard..not nice at all. I did complain to reception...the reply was...I'll let the chef know....definitely not a hotel for disabled ♿ people. Couldn't wait to check out.
Everything
Excellent food
Generator a bit noisy during the day but not early am or late pm so not a problem
Shower & bathroom was good View was excellent Bar area & terrace was nice
Lift smells of smoke. Breakfast was very poor. Carpets throughout need a thorough clean. Staff were a mix of OK & pretty poor
Very friendly, helpful staff.
Some areas were a bit tired eg ensuite and balcony area
Beautiful view from the hotel
The web site was very misleading as to parking and access to hotel itself. Not at all good for people with mobility issues. Too many stairs and no disabled toilets.
Excellent food and a great spot for swimming right opposite the hotel (tide dependent)
Friendly to walkers, includes a restaurant and a pool which is nice after a full day of hiking on the coast path. Breakfast with sea view!
Great views .
Noisy fllorboards from room above we were stsying.Luckily it was just one night out of the five we stayed.
the room & view was good and the spa was good Breakfast was average evaning meals was over priced
House keeping really rude leaving rude notes this is not what you expect for paying 1400 for five days 60.00 pounds for two burnt steaks
Excellent views from our room, food was good & staff were al polite.
Views excellent
I could hear quite a lot of banging when in my room. Not sure what from. Seemed to come from the floor below. Luckily it usually stopped by the time I wanted to go to sleep
Staff, ambience, sea view room, breathtaking views and most of all the food was amazing. Every morsel of food fit for a food connoisseur
Maybe more continental breakfast options such as ham or cheese to go with a Couissant as I’m not a lover of fried English but I have no doubt if I’d asked it would have been no problem
Location & views. Staff were very friendly & helpful.
Parking wasn’t guaranteed. The hotel is looking quite worn around the edges. There aren’t enough electric sockets in rooms. The lift doesn’t actually stop on a level with rooms on it.
Very dated but views are spectacular
Musty smells in some corridors
Amazing staff. Excellent service. Old building but the room I got was very clean. The pool is fantastic.
Can there at least be complimentary water in the room
We stayed in a deluxe double room with balcony on the 1st floor. A spacious room with comfortable bed and sofa. The bathroom wasn't that big but perfectly acceptable. Lovely views of the sea and coast line. We enjoyed watching boats and yachts coming in and out of the harbour. Having the swimming pool and spa was particularly good. The pool is a nice size and there's a large hot tub, steam and sauna with a number of seating options around it. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and buffet style in the main restaurant. Specialty dishes can be ordered. We ate a couple of meals in the bar area which were nice. The bar had a nice balcony again offering great views of the sea. Parking is in dedicated bays on the road opposite the hotel. You collect a parking permit at check in. Looe is a wonderful place with so much to see. Great eating places and bars. The ferry from the west to east side is a must at £1 per person and in August runs until @7.30pm. It saves a fairly long walk to and over the only bridge.
Whilst the hill down to Looe town is a manageable walk, the walk back up required a taxi each time. The leisure centre changing rooms are small and lockers need attention. You need a trolley token or £1 coin to lock them. Only a few had keys with a wrist band. No soap or shampoo in the showers. You need to go to reception to sign in and out of the leisure centre and pick up towels. The centre is then up a floor and stairs. There's a step free lift from the road to reception but be careful not to stand near the doors as the censors will stop the lift! Even though there is a lift to various floors there are stairs to reach it and then a few stairs to each corridor for the rooms.
It was clean and the staff were very friendly. Main meal was good
Our accommodation needed maintenance on it. Television didn't work! Bathroom floor needed attention and bath panel was coming off. Very hot in room. Dessert was expensive and not good.
Fab breakfast.so much more than what we expected
There was a changeover in staff some super friendly..some not so much bar staff
Outstanding value, especially for peak season. I paid £103 for a comfortable bed * en suite (bath with shower over - best pressure as long as I can remember) * anazing breakfast - included several high end options all without extra charge * free use of spa * spectacular views. And great staff! What you get for your money is magnificent (& I'm fussy!) Other reviewers moan the single room was too small! It wasn't that bad - I have stayed in worse! Accommodation in Looe is expensive, especially in season - £170 in a pub is common.
Because I had mobility issues, I was dependent on taxis to & from the centre of Looe - but I can't blame the hotel for that!
room and breakfast room
view
I had a superior room but it only had a single bed. The bed was comfy though. The room was basic but fine. Staff were very helpful and even gave us a secluded spot to park our motorcycles so they were out of sight. The view from the terrace bar is amazing and we had a good chat with the night barman Matt who was very nice. Drinks were good.
Given that it was called a superior room I do feel the room should have been better and bigger than it was.
View from room was great. Swimming pool sauna and jacuzzi amazing. Also a big plus was the snooker table.
First night in room. Without a balcony. Feel booking.com description should be changed as we understood we had paid for Seaview and balcony but the hotel said balcony had to be requested. I feel this is false advertising. We were lucky as a room.. with balcony became available and the manager was happy to move us.
Good location overlooking the sea
The hotel decor & carpets were very tired & in some places very dirty. Small rooms, no bottled water, little style
Location was brilliant and room with sea view was amazing!
The staff contradicted each other and when we went to use the pool we had to return to room to get towels, then get coins for lockers, only to find there was no family changing area as incorrectly briefed, and most lockers were broken and out of use. The entire hotel including spa facilities is very tired and for costs paid this should take place soonest!
Lovely hotel
For me being Disabled it was to far away but that’s nothing to do with the hotel.
Breakfast room, layout and views. Staff and service good too. Bar and dining area and views, nice staff service too.
Shower plumbing was faulty (413) as it dripped constantly though the shower when used was fine. No noise though if the connecting door was closed! Extractor fan noise from kitchens below not great either.
The view bistro bar lovley and breakfast also
Nothing
Gorgeous views and lovely staff. The swimming pool was perfect, and the breakfast was great. The seating outside the bar was lovely and clean and the bar staff were very good.
I didn't realise how up a cliff it was and it was a bit of a walk from the station. The lift was broken so I had to carry my bags up the stairs.
The breakfast every morning was lovely and the restaurant was excellent.
Clean, happy polite staff.
Constant noise outside room from kitchen extractor. Breakfast a bit to greasy for me.
Location & excellent breakfast
Tiny tv in bedroom
Room had a spectacular view. It was reasonably large, too which was good. We had a bath with shower over, and I prefer this arrangement, especially because it worked really well. Most of the reception staff were excellent as were most of the restaurant and bar staff, there were a couple of exceptions which I expressed to the manager. The location was totally perfect for us with our dog, as there is a dog friendly beach directly opposite. Parking was great too, just needed to get a permit from reception and we were all set.
Roof beyond our terrace was really old, worn and a bit dirty, spoiled the view. The restaurant food in the evening was not the best we have had; we had pollock with an aloo gobi, it was all a bit over cooked and dry, the aloo was a kind of cake rather than a loose curry and it tasted lovely but was dry. The breakfast was pretty good, but not excellent.
Super Hotel, avec une magnifique vue, très bien située un petit déjeuner très copieux, le spa très propre avec une piscine super belle. Très bonne literie Je ne peux que recommander
Fantastic location, beautiful views.Staff very pleasant and helpful..Food in bar good.Overall very pleasant stay.
Nothing really
I only needed a brief bed for the night so I had a basic small single room. It was fine, everything was clean, the staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast was pretty good. I would have liked to pay a little less than £99 but what could I expect, booking at the last minute for a Thursday night in Looe in summer?
Evening dinner food was excellent for a hotel
It needs updating and there is a musty smell bit do not let this deter you as it is a lovely hotel.
Very clean and the staff were very friendly. Food was excellent
If I’m being picky the bed was a bit small and the bathroom looked a bit tired
The views amazing room size great meals good Staff friendly polite helpful
Would have liked walk in shower due to knee problems could not climb into bath to use overhead Shower..
location very good value for money and good food..Very comfortable and ideal and patient with the elderly generation like us !
Needed a little updating in areas
I have stayed here before and was happy to return. The staff were friendly and helpful. The views are gorgeous. The rooms had everything we needed, including a fan! I liked the brighter decor.
There weren't many power sockets so needed an extension. The window in the bathroom was impossible to reach to open or close, it would be OK for a taller person.
Pool
Loud music going on the Saturday evening until after 12 so difficult to sleep
Everything
Nothing
Great location on the coast with sea views from the terrace. Generous breakfast and extensive dinner options
Noise from air con units in room at the back of the hotel
Single room at rear with v noisy kitchen extractor fan right beside it. Zero view. Dripping shower, and got locked into my room due to faulty lock. An unsatisfactory and expensive experience.
Good quite location except for early morning seagull noise.
Not a sea view as we have had before so found it very stuffy on a hot day. There was a large shower but no towel rail.
The only thing that was good at the property was the food.
The room was facing the back of the hotel. It was rite by the kitchen extractor fan so there was this consistent noise. The curtains are torn the fan in the bedroom was extremely dirty with dust. My husband complained to reception, he was told they will look into moving us. This did not happen. The receptionist ignored us for the rest of our stay. The receptionist was the one with dark hair and had it tied up with a pen. The pm/weekend staff where great except for the one receptionist she was so unfriendly and not approachable. We needed a Dr for my husband as he was not well this particular receptionist was so abrupt and half willingly gave me a Dr ‘s number. Every time we walked past reception she would turn away from facing us. She was very unprofessional as a front staff person. We did not expect her to ask how my husband was but out of curiosity I feel she should have asked when we walked past reception. At the end of the day she was the biggest issue I experienced.
View and room were lovely. Breakfast was good. It was a bit hard to decide what to have for dinner but we enjoyed what we had.
Didn't realise there would be quite as many steps to everything.
Hotel was in a great seafront location. Staff were lovely & really helpful.
Fridge in the room
Very good
Room was a little decapitated. Curtain lining torn . Windows grubby.
Lovely friendly staff Huge balcony overlooking the sea Dog friendly Good breakfast
Pool a little small when shared with 3 kids, suggest making it adults only.
The staff and the breakfast was very very good
The rooms was a bit outdated
Good value for money, friendly and helpful staff. Good location with wonderful sea views. Good breakfast choices
Great location. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room. Spa facilities were very good with generous access.
Single bed with sprung mattress was not very comfortable.
Excellent location great food in restaurant
Needs a fridge in the room And a phone for an emergency
Everything except the smallish room
Room was a little smal
Beautiful hotel and views
Excellent variety of food choices, for breakfast.
Food was amazing can't fault it staff again were amazing location again amazing only stayed 1 night will be returning fantastic hotel
You cant improve everything was amazing
Shower, breakfast
No air conditioning, bed was uncomfortable, no USB socket, noise from flue to kitchen outside room in early hours
Our room with our balcony and sea view was a great size and the view was outstanding.
My boys room was very much ch smaller with no view. WiFi was not good. Had some issues with cleaning the bathroom and balcony.
Nice clean double room. Tea and coffee were in the room. Enjoyed gym as well.
Too hot at gym.
Good facilities, friendly staff, close to town, clean
Nothing
The location of the hotel is lovely with beautiful views over the sea, and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choices.
The hotel is very run down and tired, the furniture in the bedroom was very shabby, the bed and bed linnin was old and not comfortable.
Fantastic room and location. Good food.
Bar staff cleaning draught drink pipes at 9.30 pm on Saturday. And asking us if we required another drink just after we purchased one. Fresh is always best.
The view from terrace
Food was a bit iffy, reported lights not working in the bathhroom om arrival - still not working when left 5 days later. Lift also not working on day of departure.
Knowledgeable staff, nice location, great views from breakfast and restaurant area.
Although acceptable, the rooms might benefit from a little refurbishment
Breakfast was great and the view from the restaurant is lovely. The pool was nice, clean and great temperature. Bathroom looked like it was recently re-fitted.
We had a room at the rear of the hotel, overlooked by surrounding houses. The bedroom was compact and a little dated (bathroom looked new though)
It was in a good location Great views Good facilities Staff very helpful Polite and kind
Nothing
The view from the terrace bar was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and the food was very good. Double room small but comfortable, fine for an overnight stay. .
The shower was held together by cable ties, and water pressure wasn’t good. It could do with a bit of a refurb in places.
The view from the bar.
The car parking. 25 parking bays full car park 7 occupied by no guests/Staff. Eventually found street parking half a mile away. Did get up at 5.30 the next morning to retrieve car to put in one thr 3 vacant spaces. Room had a strange smell. Tracked it down to an overflowing dehumidifier, which was overflowing giving and excedingly wet wardrobe top The bathroom door handle didn't fit a large hole in the door, which you could see through. One of the electric switches was illeagal as it had not been fitted into the wall.
The Staff are amazing, Great Food and Great Location. Lovely Views of Looe
Hotel needs to invest in air con system
Location and very good staff, also excellent food
Bit dated and needs a bit of loving care
For a three star, there were decent facilities and plenty of room in the communal spaces. And our bathroom looked like it had been recently refurbished and was VG. The indoor pool was also good.
Perfect location and very friendly staff
Can't say anything that we disliked - it was a very pleasant stay
Room - spotless and comfortable View - ok across the rear garden towards homes and buildings perched into the steep hillside. Nice but a shame not of the sea Breakfast - a buffet with everything I could want, plus waiting staff offered to get anything not on the buffet. The window table overlooking the sea from the large picture windows was lovely. Staff: the staff were wonderful - helpful, knowledgeable, upbeat, charming. Leisure facilities: a lovely pool and sauna, steam room, warm relaxing beds. Whilst I didn't have time to enjoy them - I was aware that extensive beauty and relaxation treatments were available. The hotel retains an air of older (80s seaside) style elegance, but everything is modern and spotless. For example, my bathroom looked brand new, with a choice of shower head styles (standard, or 'rain'), both with good water pressure and temperature control.
No air con in the bedroom, that would have been appreciated in the heatwave. More extensive opening windows giving better air flow would have been appreciated.
Location is great, although an uphill walk from Looe. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, the bar area is pleasing with a great view.
Very dated common areas and rooms. No air conditioning. The lift was broken which was affecting many older people with mobility issues. The breakfast buffet food looked lovely but many items were cold. On our second day, we ordered poached eggs, all three were hard in the middle. Butter, milk and sugar are left uncovered on every table at breakfast and there was a fly in the milk. The bathroom was not cleaned during our stay. Hotel advertises having 2 restaurants but one of them is permanently closed.
