Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Room and balcony view was wonderful. Staff was great. Loved the authentic Jamaican food! Foreigners come for the food and spirits.
1. My bags were lost at the resort and later found. 2. Only one day there was collauh on the buffet. 3. Not enough Reggae music played. 4. Needed an activity boards! I don't want to be on a cell phone to be connected to resort activities, my vacations are to disconnect and enjoy the resort.
Horrible service,, only local local food was served,, people always expect you to see them before they even do anything for you ,,,, Very rude, would highly recommend not to go there!!!!!
Sometimes it was difficult finding something to eat depending on the time of day
We (myself, my husband and our 3 adult children) were staying at the Jewel Grande in Montego Bay when hurricane Melissa hit. We tried to get flights out ahead of the storm but were unable to which left us riding out the storm with some other guests and the resort staff. In the after math of the storm we were unable to get flights out for another week which was a total of 15 days (7 originally planned). The resort was good at keeping us up to date with information before the storm and setting up the Club House for everyone to stay safe during the storm. The building we were in proved solid and the pre planning of a new generator and extra fuel and supplies meant we stayed comfortable. I was extremely thankful that the resort and staff put in all the work to keep my family and the other guests safe during this beast of a storm. While the all inclusive, fun and relaxing vacation that we were hoping to have was short lived (about 3 days) before the hurricane prep and protocols started to take hold it was still an experience that we will never forget. There are not enough kind words to express the gratitude we feel for the staff that went above and beyond under less than ideal circumstances to make sure we were taken care of and we had everything we needed while many of them were experiencing difficult situations from not being able to get in touch with their own families and their homes and communities being damaged or destroyed. We are extremely appreciative and grateful for all your hard work from our butlers Shanika and Vinroy-well done, to the resort manager and front desk staff which we spoke with daily, to the chefs who had to get a bit creative due to limited supplies but fed us very well, the wait staff always with a smile, the house keepers and our barman Kennon who was quiet but kept his eye out for us and took care of us as well as the many others who worked very hard to keep us comfortable until we were able to fly out. You are all valued and appreciated....Thanks so much for taking care of everyone!!, The Lyon Family
The venue and the staff were beautiful inside and out. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Me and my wife stayed here throughout hurricane Melissa and I couldn't have asked to be in a better place.
I didn't like the fact that Melissa damaged the beautiful building and surroundings and also upset the staff😢
We went to the Jewel Grande to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary knowing that there was the possibility of a tropical storm coming. Very quickly it turned into hurricane Malissa while we were there, so I feel so strongly the need to give all the amazing staff at the Jewel Grande so much credit for there professionalism in keeping us all safe, feed with amazing hot meals three times a day, secure in a “safe” area and still providing a form of entertainment to keep there guest minds I’m sure off the unthinkable. The general Manager Jaap Van Dam who kept us all extremely informed when ever any information changed, this man truly deserves a metal for his calm dementor which helped so much. Also a special thank you to Abby, Shelly Ann, and Beyoncé who constantly asked us how we were and if we were doing ok all while not knowing the fate of there own homes and family. We are truly humbled by your hospitality and warmth and will remember you all forever. We truly want to come back to the Jewel Grande as soon as you’re up and running to re-celebrate our anniversary without Melissa and with all of you under happier Cercomstances. Mr. & Mrs. Little .
We are thinking of you and your loved ones during this terrible time. Jamaica is hurt, but not broken. Together, you will rebuild and rise again. 🇯🇲 Likkle but we tallawah 🇯🇲 I was not going to send this review so soon after the devastating impact Melissa has brought Jamacia but we wanted the staff team to know they are valued, appreciated and their hardworking is recognised. Jamaica 🇯🇲 owes us nothing … from beautiful scenery to clear blue sea and delicious food … it was definitely a holiday to remember 💯 …. I would go back in a heartbeat ❤️. Jewel Grande…AMAZING!!!! We will be back soon 😁 Restaurants- During our stay we were told that some restaurants (mainly the Orchid buffet- catering for everyone - breakfast, lunch and dinner) would not be opened as it was low season with low occupancy. We were staying for 3 weeks, so not happy about having to dine in the same restaurants again and again. We spoke with Team food and Beverage members (Volae, Ewin and Sain). They were very understanding and helpful. They created a menu for us to dine in whatever restaurant and pre order from that menu for us to have that dinner. They did not make it an issue and we felt at ease to order and arrive at the restaurant for them to prepare what we had chosen. The restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating including the staff from the buffet Orchid and restaurant staff at the Waves, Le Bouchon, Pierside. We had no complaints about our food options and with the food service provided. Sorry, did not get everyone involved names but thank you to Julia Smalls and staff team. Thank you also to the lobby bar staff and pool bar staff for being friendly and respectful. Please note - Breakfast/Buffet restaurant is in building C. Room- We were on the 10th floor (Building C) and our views were beautiful… coming from uk; nothing but breathtaking !!! Our views were definitely a highlight 😁. The balcony was large with lounge chairs so could sit out looking at the views feeling relaxed and alone. The room is a bit dated but kept very clean and comfortable. We were offered room cleaning and beverage stock each day. Room service was also on offer!!! Lobby (Front Desk) staff: Excellent service and hospitality. Thank you for accommodating us so we could stay in the room longer (at a cost) as our check out was at 11am and our transport to the airport would be picking us up at 18:15. Thank you to all lobby staff that supported us with queries. Especially to the young lady ;did not get her name) who helped me with my TikTok video (( 14.6k views and counting 😂🤗). Entertainment- Good but same entertainment each week ( we were there for 3 weeks). We did go out in Montego Bay some night for other entertainment so this did not bother us as much. We have come back relaxed and although back in work mode still thinking about the amazing time we had in Montego Bay Jamaica. We would definitely return to Jewel Grande hotel as they made us feel welcomed, relaxed and accommodating to make our holiday experience special. Ma heartfelt thank you to each of you for your kindness, dedication and passion. Your warmth, hospitality, and unwavering commitment made our time at Jewel Grande an unforgettable experience. You welcomed us and helped us to create memories we will cherish forever. Until we meet again-thank you!!!
I stayed at Jewel Grande for my birthday, and it was absolutely amazing! I had a beautiful one-bedroom oceanfront suite — super spacious, spotless, and with an incredible view. When I arrived, there was a birthday cake and a bottle of Chardonnay waiting for me, which was such a thoughtful surprise. The staff were truly wonderful — friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The food was top-tier, some of the best I’ve had at an all-inclusive resort. What really stood out was how the resort handled Hurricane Melissa. Management moved everyone to a secure building and made sure we were safe and comfortable. They kept the all-inclusive experience going with hot meals, games, movies, and music — even during the storm! I was so grateful for the staff who stayed to take care of us, even while their own homes were at risk. It was my first time in Jamaica, and because of Jewel Grande, it definitely won’t be my last. I’ll 100% be coming back — nowhere else compares! May God bless the staff and the beautiful people of Jamaica 🇯🇲❤️
I visited Jewel Grande on October 23rd for a friend’s 40th birthday celebration, and from the moment we pulled up to the hotel, the experience was nothing short of incredible. The staff greeted us with such warmth, professionalism, and kindness. It immediately set the tone for a wonderful stay. Our room was spotless and had the most breathtaking view imaginable. Every corner of the property offered a stunning view of paradise. We thought we would be leaving before the hurricane, but when all flights were canceled, the hotel and its amazing staff went above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort. The management and employees moved quickly to put safety measures in place, all while remaining calm, compassionate, and reassuring. They provided us with three hot meals a day, entertainment, and constant support even as they faced their own personal challenges during the storm. Their strength, dedication, and smiles under pressure were truly inspiring. I can’t express enough gratitude for how the staff handled everything. They made a difficult situation feel safe and even comforting. I am praying for every single one of them and their families as they recover and rebuild. The Jamaican people are incredibly resilient, and I know they will rise stronger than ever. I will absolutely be returning to Jewel Grande once they reopen and will recommend this beautiful resort to everyone I know. Thank you, Jewel Grande team you turned what could have been a scary experience into one filled with care, hope, and unforgettable kindness.
The room and balcony was very spacious. The bathroom has a standing shower and tub separately. The hotel was very clean. The variety of food was good. The transport from check in to get to the building for hotel room.
The entertainment area could be bigger and more space for guests to sit and watch. I could not use the pool bar on my section of the hotel. Not many day activities to participate in.
First couple of days were great but has fallen apart on the next 2 days with 3 to go Beach front villa with own wade pool, had to vacate at 10pm due to internal water in the electrical panel, moved to penthouse on 12th floor where 1/2 the lights don't work stuck in the 60's decor but built in 2010, remodeled in 2016. Staff is great, change that to excellent as always in Jamaica. Buildings are falling apart, paint peeling, can't swim in the 4 ft bay because there is a storm coming 2 days from now, bright sunshine no swell no understanding, food is good in the steakhouse but not in The Pierside, very limited food choices in all the restaurants 2-3 entrees , very limited seating , we are off season and couldn't get into 2 restaurants in seven days, redeeming quality is the buffet is pretty good with great staff, menu changes daily with 30 choices of food and the bar at the main pool is awesome, specifically Maxine. Tipping is not required but we found we got great service and friendship from tipping. Swim up bar closed for major repair ????
This place is simply breathtaking. It had all the amenities anyone could ever ask for in a vacation spot. I had absolutely zero issues with this wonderful place that I was extremely sad I couldn't stay more than a week. I met so many amazing workers. In fact I want to put a shout out to the two girls that done activities they were so much fun! But honestly, what made the trip unforgettable was the server named Marvin. He literally made everyone feel welcomed and made the stay absolutely marvelous. His smiles, his hard work, and his jokes were out of this world. He was there everyday I was except one and I could definitely tell when he was not there. The atmosphere wasn't the same without him. His work ethic is Definitely one to take notice. He made sure all the dirty dishes were picked up in a timely manner and never stopped to make sure everyone had what they needed or wanted. Y'all need more like him lol!
We had a wonderful stay at the Grand in Montego Bay, and one of the real highlights for us was Calvin, the chef at breakfast. He went out of his way each morning to make our son Jack – and the other children too – feel welcome and special. Calvin always had a smile, took the time to chat, and made sure they had exactly the food they liked. His warmth and friendliness made such a difference to our mornings and became a lovely part of our holiday. Thank you, Calvin, for helping make our stay so memorable!
We had a lovely stay for 2 weeks for our honeymoon, however nothing special to congratulate us at all all week so a little touch would have gone a long way. The views were great and the staff were fantastic! Rooms: could benefit from a full length mirror and somewhere to get ready outside the bathroom and somewhere to hang wet clothes outside. Food: orchids lacks character and atmosphere it felt like a school hall, lots of options were popular and were out almost every day so a lot of waiting around. Some nights all restaurants were closed except Pierside (bookable restaurant) and one other option but when you arrive 10mins after opening there was already an hour wait which is not ideal with young kids. Steak is very salty but the salad bar is great at Boucherie. Pools: clubhouse pool was closed for first week and main pool and swim up bar for most of second week. Avoid main pool if you want to relax as this is where all the activities take place with constant shouting down microphones and dragging you up to join in. Clubhouse pool is much more relaxing unless there is work going on in the towers next door then all you can hear is drilling and grinding. Entertainment: on a weekly rolling rota so if you’re there for 2 weeks you would have to watch the same shows twice (karaoke on Thursdays is horrendous felt like I was in Benidorm). LATE CHECK OUT IS $50 PER HOUR AFTER 12pm!!! We thought this was scandalous! We booked a spa day pass for $50 per person for the day which they don’t really advertise but we had full use of the spa facilities and a spa butler for the day and avoided the ridiculous charges as we had a late flight and was at the hotel until 7pm. Gift shop is expensive, approx $25 for a kids bucket & spade set. People walking around pestering you around the pool/beach to buy spa treatments (again at ridiculous prices) Massive shout out to Whitney and the evening DJ you guys were MEGA!
My husband and I were disappointed with our recent stay at Jewel Grande Montego Bay. For a property that promotes itself as a five-star hotel, we certainly did not receive five-star treatment from management or supervisory staff. To make matters worse, we brought over 100 guests to your property, as we hosted our wedding next door at the Rose Hall Beach Club. Given that level of business, we expected to be treated with care and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was far from the case. At the start of the booking process, our sales representative Tamina was courteous and responsive. However, as time went on, her professionalism declined significantly. It often took weeks and multiple calls to get a response to even simple inquiries. Wedding planning is stressful enough, but her delays and lack of communication only added to that stress. A major issue arose when we attempted to add a minor to a room. Despite our signed group contract clearly stating that children stay free, we were told we would be charged. I sent a copy of our agreement to Claudia, a supervisor, who said she would contact Tamina and follow up. We never received any resolution. Our interaction with Claudia was curt and dismissive, and we were not treated with respect or value. This matter remains unresolved despite repeated follow-ups since October 2nd. Several of our guests were also unhappy with their accommodations. Rooms in Building B had unpleasant odors, visible mold, and debris from ongoing renovations. When guests requested to move to another building, they were simply relocated within the same one, leaving the issues unresolved. Our guests endured the situation out of loyalty to us, but many stated they would not return. Our disappointment continued at the Pierside Restaurant. After returning from an excursion one evening, I arrived wearing a dark cover-up over a dark swimsuit. Since it’s a beachside restaurant that closes at 9:30 p.m., we went straight there for dinner. Despite my modest attire, a supervisor refused to seat me, insisting “rules are rules” in a dismissive tone. My husband had to run to our room on the 11th floor to get me a T-shirt before I could be seated. Once seated, we saw a large cockroach running across the restaurant floor. A guest even joked, “You weren’t allowed in with a cover-up, but roaches can roam freely here.” This was both ironic and unacceptable, especially for a five-star property. I have photo and video evidence of the incident. Additionally, the service at Pierside was extremely slow. While front-line employees generally demonstrated warmth and professionalism, management and supervisory staff fell short. However, several employees deserve special recognition: • Butlers Shanika and Vinroy were exceptional attentive, courteous, and proactive throughout our stay. • Nickesha and Teresa consistently greeted us and our guests by name, checked on our well-being, and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. These individuals truly exemplify hospitality and should be recognized for their service they were the highlight of an otherwise disappointing experience. Other issues also deserve attention: • Security gate and front desk coordination were poor. Several guests had difficulty checking in because their names were “not on the list,” and security often couldn’t reach the main office. • The complimentary rooms included in our group contract remains unresolved. During the wedding week, Tamina assured us we could finalize details afterward, but when we followed up, she said it was “too late.” We requested escalation on October 9th, and she claimed to contact her supervisor, yet we’ve received no response. • On our wedding night, our room was supposed to be decorated with champagne as promised by Tamina. This never happened, and despite our butlers raising it to supervisors, no one followed up or apologized. Overall, this experience was far below what we expected as paying guests and as a wedding couple who brought significant business to your property. We left feeling undervalued, disrespected, and embarrassed by how we and our guests were treated. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we would not consider returning to Jewel Grande Montego Bay or recommending it for future events. We are still awaiting follow-up emails from Tamina and management regarding our complimentary room.
We stayed in a one-bedroom oceanfront suite in Sabal Palm, and it was absolutely incredible! The suite was spacious — with two large bathrooms, a full kitchen, a comfortable living room, two TVs, and a balcony overlooking the ocean. It truly felt like our own private apartment for the weekend. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was excellent, with plenty of delicious options, and the service was consistently great throughout our stay. Our favorite drinks were definitely from the main pool bar and at the hibachi pier — both spots were fun and had great vibes. The Italian restaurant was also really good! There’s so much to explore on the property, and they offer a variety of activities during the day and at night — you could easily spend your entire trip here without ever needing to leave. The beach was beautiful and spacious, with warm, clear water. There was a bit of seaweed in some areas, but it didn’t bother us at all since there was plenty of open space and it never felt crowded. The grande spa was amazing! Nicest spa I have ever been to! You definitely get the royal treatment! It is calm and serene, I highly recommended the Himalayan salt massage! A special shoutout to Allan, who took such great care of us on the beach! He was always smiling, upbeat, and made us feel like family. His positive energy and kindness truly made our experience unforgettable.
This is NOT a family resort. Guests openly smoked weed at the pool and beach while staff stood by and did nothing even a “Nana” left her child to get high (we know because our children were playing with her child; she ended up passing out and unable to walk coherently after smoking her joint). The fragrance of skunk was everywhere despite it being a smoke-free/drug-free hotel. Do NOT let them fool you, it was not Hookah; we know what weed looks and smells like. My husband is a cop in the United States. We booked a butler suite but no butler ever came despite asking four times, and housekeeping was inconsistent. We stayed quiet out of concern for our safety (since even staff tolerated the drug use and seemed to help facilitate it), only raising it at checkout, the manager ignored us completely. Food was pretty good at the restaurants but service was painfully slow. The buffet was underwhelming. Beach was pretty and warm but the sand was filled with trash. If you value safety, service, or honesty in advertising, avoid Jewel Grande at all costs. We will never return to Jamaica after this experience.
In a world where many faces aren't friendly, come to the Jewel Grand for service filled with gratitude! I found it quick to unwind here. I enjoyed breakfast at the Orchid Buffet, but the highlight of the hotel is truly the staff. A few people to mention who showed so much kindness were Mrs. Venessar & Mrs. Teressa and there’s so many others, but I didn’t have a chance to get their names yet, but I’ll be filling you in the details of our trip! They treated families with children like their loving own! While the hotel itself is beautiful, the people who staff it make it shine even brighter. With clean rooms, excellent service, and genuine care for guests, this place allows anyone to enjoy a relaxing getaway. I’ve seen honeymooners celebrating, families with children having fun, and most importantly, you can relax one of the most beautiful properties with your own loved ones. Seriously, book your stay—you won’t be disappointed. Sorry for the vivid detail, I’m preparing for the last step of my doctoral degree.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE! The service, the room, the limited food options, the lack of communication, everything has been terrible since the beginning of my 2 week stay. The buffet was only open 2 days for dinner out of 2 weeks because they ‘wanted to focus on the service provided at the A la Carte restaurant’, which is only 3 restaurants. I have paid for all inclusive and instead i have been restricted to 3 restaurants for the duration of 2 weeks, which is absolutely ridiculous. The hotel doesn’t not communicate nothing with their guest and the food options being limited. The pools were also closed during our stay. I booked a two bed bedroom and received one bed in the bedroom and then when I have gone to reception to get this rectified, they said that i must pay $400 per night for an upgrade , even though they didn’t provide the room that I had bought. In addition to the bed issue, there was also issues with the light in the bedroom. The spot lights were flickering and dim and the main light and fan wasn’t working. We called maintenance at 2pm on Monday and they said that someone should be with me shortly to fix the issue. Nobody came until 8pm and then said he was coming back in 30 minutes. He didn’t come back to fix the light until 7:30pm Tuesday evening. During this time, I would call reception to receive an update and each time it was that the maintenance man is working on something and he would be with us shortly. Another issue we had with the room, is the damp spot by the bathroom, which would only stay dry if the AC was on. We told maintenance and they had told us that there is nothing that they can do and we should keep the AC on because the damp is due to condensation. I am not sure where the condensation would come from, if nobody has showered or anything. The communication at this resort is ridiculous. Also when going to the A La Carte restaurant, please be ready to be served bread and your drink before your food comes out late. Each time we visited the italian restaurant, we would be served warm bread and would have to wait minimum of 45 minutes to get our food that we ordered. This has been the worst resort i have stayed at in Jamaica and I would never recommend anyone to spend their money here. Please spend that extra and go to the RIU because you will get your moneys worth. Entertainment is dead. No daily schedule. Poor communication. Limited food. This place is not catered for young people, so if you are looking to have a good time at your resort, DONT BOOK HERE. YOU WILL LEAVE DISAPPOINTED!!!
The staff was very helpful and friendly
The room and the food
Food service at the Buffet, Orchids is horrendous. Very little variety, quantity, poor taste and quality. If you arrive at the Buffet within 1.5 hrs of closing, about 50% of the food items are finished and will not be refilled. You leaving feeling hungry with few other options. Room service food is horrid and cost $10 for delivery. The Pelican Grill's food is below average, Jerk hut come with dry roll, poorly spiced jerk chicken, no rice or additional condiments. Crickets Grill, each time we went there ( within 1 hr of closing) they ran out of food. This is my second time coming here and I will not be returning. I would not have returned here if this was the experienced I had 2 years ago. I've been to resorts that were cheaper and far better food ( RIU Aquarelle's food was splendid). The food and service was Le bouchon was descent, the staff was friendly and prompt. Overall the staff on the resort were great. I'll not be returning because the piss poor experience with food.
Everything
Nothing
The view of the place is extremely nice and the rooms are beautiful but the food at the restaurants are disgusting . I just came back from Jamaica yesterday and stayed at this resort for 5 days and was extremely disappointed with the food and drinks . The bars never have anything sufficient to make a nice cocktail ! The restaurant Waves need to permanently close because the menu is horrible and the food does not taste good . This is a resort in Jamaica and to my surprise the menu is not balanced with some Jamaican cuisine. Some people actually fly to another country to enjoy the country dishes . The bartender and the staff are so nice but the food is not good at all . The burger and fries station served some oily fries and chicken tenders on 10/6/25 because of course they were out of wings at 12:45pm when they had just opened at 12:30 lml! What a joke for a resort . You pay so much money and you can’t enjoy the food . The juices they serve at the buffet tasted like it came from a juice box ( how you can’t get fresh juice from a Caribbean country that grow their crop naturally ) . If you want a nice room to stay at , this is the place but if you want good authentic Jamaica food and beverages this is definitely not the resort to book with . I give them a 2.5 stars and will be rating them on every social media, google , Expedia ..,. Everywhere because they need to do way better !!!
We visited to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing. The staff treated us so well and we got treated (with cake) at every restaurant. Most relaxing four days I've had all year. Shout out to Calvin from the Pelican Shack; and Shantoya, Tyola and Jodi who served us so well. Very polite, very attentive.
Came here to celebrate an anniversary. Checked in to the room to find a lovely plater of chocolate covered grapes. At the on site restaurants that we had reservation we received a nicely decorated dessert plate. The room was nice an spacious. Stayed in room C501 of the Sentry building. Excellent view of the property and the surrounding sea. The breakfast buffet had a mix of local and international options. Non motorized water activities were available. While all the staff present were professional, some exceeded expectation to ensure our stay was a wonderful one especially chef Calvin and jenelle.
I don't know where to start..... My family and I went to Jewel Grande in September for my mum's birthday and loved every part of it. The food was lovely along with the staff and our rooms were so beautiful; with an oceanfront view! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could have ever been. In particular, the entertainment and the pool side staff made us feel like family. To name a few: Ralston, Andre, Nickeisha, Whitney, O'ryan, Altiman, Glenroy, Jermain, Monike, Ricky and Chef Calvin
My first experience (birthday celebration and vacation) was wonderful. The2BR suite reserved for us was very nice and spacious. It was clean, had great views and comfortable for 3 people. The butler service with our suite was nothing short of amazing. We have 2 butlers and they were very accommodating and ensured any needs were addressed. The resort's restaurants were all top notch. The food we impeccable! Fresh, very little preservatives and always tasteful yet not overly seasoned. Fresh fish, steamed veggies, and other tasty cuisine. Authentic desserts and fresh juice everywhere you go. The staff was so, so welcoming. They made you feel right at home, so relaxed. I would recommend Jewel Grande and I would definitely stay there again.
I just want to say a massive thank you to all staff at this resort. I have never seen such hardworking, compassionate and always caring staff like this, I am in lack of words on how to describe how excellent these staff are. I honestly did not want to leave the place I just landed today in England and am already so sad and ill. About the food and drinks in this place, I don’t even know how to describe this the food was so good and always different options u just eat and drink whatever u want. Also another thing about this place. Even if u dont have money to book for activities trust me u can stay at the resort and still enjoy yourself as everything is there they have a club and every day entertainers at around 21:30. When it comes to cleanliness, I don’t even know, the cleanliness over there is top notch. I just can’t explain how good this place is everyone needs this experience it. I wish I had booked 2 weeks instead of one . I can’t wait to come back to Jamaica with family and if am back am still choosing this resort again. If anyone is looking for a resort that deliver most especially if u have a family, this is the place.
this was everything the pictures showed and very well taken care of.
need more food options, one place never opened
Just returned from a wonderful week at the Jewel. There was a few hiccups in the first couple of days but with the help of Ms.Juliet Gray (supervisor guest services) my problem as solved. She also made follow up phone calls inquiry about my stay .We wanted to express our appreciation to some of the staff members that went above and beyond to make our week special: Venessar (supervisor restaurant) she made sure our food was always on point up until our very last day. Asari (Lead Concierge) any questions or reservations he handled without hesitation. Opal (check-in clerk) always smiling, pleasant and remembers my name. Andrae (guest services) always called to make sure everything was OK and greeted me during my check-out.Cabana attendant don't remember his name was very attentive to everything we needed while we were in the cabana. All of the entertainment staff by the pool were great. Last but not lease the Jerk Chicken chef on the beach, the chicken was bomb everyday.
The resort is gorgeous and clean. The staff are always willing to help in a real way…not just superficial. I had some health problems while there and they immediately found the right help which involved the nurse. She was compassionate and caring, explaining all the possibilities and possible charges. She immediately called a doctor who arrived within 10 minutes. He was thorough, compassionate, and explained all well. He exhausted possible diagnoses and gave suggestions for easing pain while here. I became an emotional mess and everybody from bellmen to front desk to wait staff were generous with encouragement and hugs. They all helped my husband feel safe as well. Some of the names of those who treated us well were of course, the Nurse and Doctor whose names I did not write down, Front Desk staff: Kadian, Melicia, Natalia, and the always wonderful Vernon the bellman. He remembered our names and always called me Queen❤️ Again, the wait staff were fabulous, especially at Le Bouchon (probably misspelled) the Italian restaurant, and a sweet female bartender at the small bar near the pool near Sabal. What made this trip apart from the beautiful architecture and the stunning natural views, was the wonderful staff!
The Jewel Grande Spa experience was AMAZING!!!! My massage therapist Lanakaye and Inez left me totally de- stressed. Amazing hands!!. My spa butler Christal was sooo attentive and assisted me through the whole process.
I had the displeasure of staying in this hotel, and it's a complete rip off. I came with my family and we stayed in two of the grand suites on the same level so we can be near each other. Every day we had issues with the cooling and got a lot of false promises. The bed sheets upon arrival were dusty and had stains on the foot side of the bed in the master suite. I made a complaint to the butler service we had and they took almost a full day before we had new sheets ready. One of the biggest points I'd like to make is their cleaning services are a bunch of thieves. They stole my cologne on the very last day of my trip. I left a tip every day after the room was cleaned just to thank them for their services since we were quite a large group. Andrew McFarline and Calvine Suckan were the managers our butlers had us contact and they were the worse to work with. They gave us a very small portion of a refund back for our stay which does not even equate to a one night's stay. They said they will also look into the matter of the theft and gave us their e-mails to reach back out to them for a more promising solution when we got back home. I've been reaching out to them for over a month and they have done nothing to rectify this or find my cologne. I really wish I could leave more of a negative review on how bad the service is here. The food was OK at the most, I've stayed at better resorts in Montego Bay, and I would definitely go back to them. Giving this place a shot was the worse, they don't restock room fridge, the cooling is bad as I stated, and you will have to wait around the night time to get your sheets changed if you're lucky. On top of that the butlers are only interested in giving you quality service depending on how great you tip them every night. We tipped everyone pretty good, we were a large group and just wanted to have fun, overall we had fun out of the resort, coming back to it there was always an issue. They need a overhaul on their current staff. I would recommend folks to try a different resort and save yourself the peace of mind. Giving this hotel your money will only cause you trouble going into your stay.
The property was very beautiful and clean.
I liked everything.
Absolutely phenomenal! Everything was perfect!! Impeccable room service, helpful front desk, great customer service.
All the staff, especially the ones we had direct contact with, were amazing! They provided exceptional services from the heart every time! From the grounds keeper, housekeeper, Butler, dining room staff, security, front desk staff, managers, and even the taxi drivers on grounds. We have been to other resorts and had great experiences, but my experiences here at Jewel Grande exceeded any other experiences I have ever had! From the time we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by your amazing front desk staff. Though I can't remember the name of the young lady who helped to check us in, it doesn't mean she's forgettable. She was amazing (please forgive me for the memory lapse 😔). If you have to find out who she is, she worked with Anthaniel (another one of your amazing staff). Next! When it was time to go to our room, we were blessed to have met Mr. Vernon. He went above and beyond the call of his duties to make sure we felt welcomed, safe, and assured us that anything we needed, the staff would provide for us. Mr. Vernon filled the role of our concierge during our stay at the resort, a role that seemed to come so naturally and without any expectations. The dining room staff, from the servers to the chef, were phenomenal! Chef Varnel made a turkey breast one morning for breakfast, and I told him he needed to be slapped because I don't eat Turkey here at home, but I had 2 servings of his masterpiece that morning. Not only did he provide a delectable delight, he provided service "from the heart." Another one of your many amazing staff is no other than Ms. Vanessar! She took the time to stop by our table to inquire how everything was. When we told her we were disappointed because the freshly squeezed watermelon juice that we looked forward to every morning wasn't available this particular morning. She told us she would see what she could do, and she left our table. Shortly after, we saw her with a plate of freshly cut watermelon as she headed towards the bartender. She returned briefly to our table to inquire, "would you like a touch of ginger in that?" A few moments later, she returned with 2 large glasses of refreshing watermelon juices, and boy, was it delicious 😋. You can't fake services like this! This has to come from the heart ❤️. This is a genuine service that had been portrayed by every single staff member working at the resort. Along with the previously mentioned staff, I want to take the time to recognize some of the other amazing staff members as well. Terresa (fom sugar cane cafe), Leonard, Orlando, Damion, Nickesha (the young lady with the most beautiful smile, displaying her pearly whites), Mikayla (hope I'm spelling her name right), Vandamme (who did something that no one has ever been able to do. He took us out on the little sail, and by the time we made some ways from the shoreline, we were so relaxed that we wished we had tried it sooner. He led us in meditation while in that little sail boat, lol 😆 😂). I have so many compliments to extend to all your amazing staff members, but time wouldn't allow me to do so. What we have experienced at your resort indicates that this service starts at the top, but it doesn't end there! I have a motto that I live by and practice: "team work, makes the dream work." I experienced this at your resort. Oftentimes, people hear about the bad but never the good. Or people take the time to write a bad review, but never a good one. I want to take a lead on behalf of myself, my friend, and everyone who forgot, or didn't take the time to let you and your staff know about the differences they make in our lives away from our home. A heart-felt thank you to all!!! I'm looking forward to another visit, very soon. We were so satisfied with our stay, we're pushing for our brother's vow renewal there. Again, thank you to all the amazing staff for their exceptional services!
Overall Experience Beautiful property with some great amenities. Having had such a positive experience with the staff previously, we returned excited for another amazing stay. Unfortunately, this visit did not measure up and we now need a vacation from the vacation. ________________________________________ Service 👍 A few staff stood out. [Le Bouchon] - We were fortunate enough to have Winston as our server twice. He was very observant, professional, and personable. The hostess was terrific as well! [Orchids] – Our server – Gavin; hostess – Janice; food manager/chef – Carolyn; omelet chef – Vanel gave exceptional service each time. [Moonstone] – Our server Romane was welcoming, anticipated our needs, and made sure that we had a great time. [Waves] – Tackeisha elevated our dining experience with her charm and kindness, consistently going the extra mile. She genuinely values her guests. Her service is impeccable, and she remains the gold standard. [Entertainment Staff] - M&M’s water aerobics and Nickiesha’s Zumba were both fantastic. Each encounter with Nickiesha was pleasant and she went out of her way to be accommodating, ensuring that guests were happy and enjoying themselves. [Main Bldg.] - Each time we ran into Vernon, he was a delight to be with and made sure to take good care of us. 👎 Noticeable decline in service, with more upselling than genuine hospitality. Staff energy was low; lots of stares; fewer smiles and friendly interactions. The level of service varied, revealing a pattern of unequal treatment. At times, American guests—particularly African American women, seemed to be shown less courtesy and professional regard compared to others. This disparity was hard to ignore and significantly affected the quality of our stay. ________________________________________ Food & Bars 👍 Multiple dining options during the summer months. Le Bouchon – perfectly cooked steak + nice salad bar + yummy deserts. Orchids - excellent breakfast buffet and omelet station. The food was always hot, and staff were very attentive to guests’ needs and anything that needed to be refreshed on the buffet line. 👎 Room service is now $10. Moonstone (a past favorite) altered their recipes and was closed on the first night. The two cats were also a bit bothersome. My sister is allergic to cats, they were quite active and would jump into the chairs, onto the tables, and eat from the dishes that guests had left behind which was not a good look. It was also an issue when we visited in 2023. Orchids closed for dinner our entire stay. Swim-up bar service very slow; bartenders often ignored waiting guests. ________________________________________ Entertainment & Activities 👍 Variety of activities. Sentry Pool - comfortable and sunny. Private beach with complimentary water sports and updated loungers. We loved the Jamaica Cultural Show, and the violinist was incredible! 👎 We truly missed the former entertainment crew (Delando, Susie Q, and MJ impersonator)—they were the heartbeat of the resort. [Suggestion: Recognize standout staff with the pay they deserve to ensure they remain.] Events moved or canceled without notice; guest favorites like karaoke and the silent party gone. Hard to relax at Sentry Pool due to nonstop activities. Towel card system confusing; not given at check-in, yet $25 fee if lost. Beach had heavy seaweed and very little shade. [Suggestion: A few umbrellas would be appreciated.] ________________________________________ Security 👍 The resort felt very safe. Strong, visible presence at every building. Always helpful with doors, directions, and golf carts. ________________________________________ Transportation 👍 Luxury golf carts were quick, comfortable, and convenient. 👎 A third-party taxi driver repeatedly loitered on the property, causing disruptions and interfering with normal operations. On one occasion, he was found napping on the back of the golf cart outside the main building while we got on and waited for assistance from the bellman. During checkout, despite our prior reservation and a 10–15-minute wait, he gave our seats to three other guests, resulting in a delay in reaching the main building and connecting with our private airport transfer. Although security and the bellman apologized repeatedly, the taxi driver dismissed their concerns and stated that it was "no big deal." ________________________________________ Rooms 👍 Sentry Tower: spacious, modern, rain shower, convenient location. (Side Note: The first time we stayed in the Silver Tower – a 2-bedroom, 3-bathroom suite with 3-balconies, a kitchen, dining room, and living room which came with two butlers. This time we booked two oceanfront premium junior suites with double beds.) 👎 You hear all the music, activities, and shows from morning to night. No bed skirts. Noisy fan and AC related flooding near entry, nonstop running toilet, condensation near another vent which left puddles of water on the floor. Our balcony could be accessed from the neighbor’s balcony on either side—major security concern. Doors slammed loudly; balcony door difficult to use. Flies became a nuisance (at one point, I counted 10 flies on the patio door). They were everywhere.
This resort is spectacular! The sea view from our balcony was gorgeous. The staff were extremely warm, welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. I loved the coffee bar in the Sentry Palm building - fancy coffees paired with fresh cakes, daily. The Pier Side restaurant sits right over the sea, it is beautiful. Most of the restaurants look right over the sea. The nightly entertainment is excellent; and, takes place overlooking the sea. A special shout out to the following staff: Giovanni, the Chef at Waves restaurant whose creative dishes never ceased to surprise and delight; Aubrey our friendly server at the Waves restaurant; Simone the helpful tour desk operator; Shanneil the friendly Concierge in the Sentry Palm building; Shelley, the SPA Manager; Calvin the excellent Jamaican Chef at the Orchid restaurant; Rhaymone, Gawayne and Davian, the Jerk Chicken Beach Chefs; Stephanie, our pleasant server at the Orchid restaurant; Cleon the grounds keeper who so obligingly climbed a tree to pick coconuts for us; Devron our server at Le Bouchon restaurant who always seemed to know exactly what we wanted.
The food is amazing at the resort. The people who work here make you feel like family. The spa was such an amazing experience. I’ve gotten many massages but none as good as this one. Shout out to arlene and soroyal who did mine and my husband’s massage. Also to ackeem and lorainne for amazing customer service and greetings when we walked in.
We found the property to be “ok”. Our room in building B was ok ( the a/c did work well, but the room was in need of a remodel & had some issues with things needing to be repaired) but our balcony door would never open- so we could not sit out & enjoy the ocean from our room. As far as the “resort”, in MHO (& facts) this property was built to be a community of condo owners & when that went sideways, they attempted to turn it into a resort. It just does not have, nor was set up to be a resort. While dining- the food was very good, but most places lack the ambiance/settings of a high end resort- yes, lack of a/c while dining is an issue. Entertainment was less than average. The people that own condos in there will sit at the pool & air all of their grievances about how things are bad for them at the property. I give the property a C grade as it is an acceptable choice if you go with realistic expectations, but do not expect anything above & beyond. Staff was very lovely. We really enjoyed the coffee shop in block B daily.
I would like to give a Special thanks to Vernon, at the front entrance with his assistance helping us with the taxi (Juta) guy Andrew”Teddy Bear”. Andrew is an awesome, loyal, honest and ready to assist with whatever your needs are as far as getting around. Love you Andrew. The gift shop, Andre he’s an amazing young guy who’s very helpful. Dayvon that’s at the Cabana at the beach is wonderful. He’s also ready to assist you with whatever you need while at the beach. Kereese who is also amazing staff there that’s ready to assist and so kind. At the restaurant Orchids, you have Kemar who is amazing server. Janice at the front hosting. Then you have the Spa crew that’s amazing. It’s so many, we are grateful to have had this time with family! We miss you guys and love you. ONE LOVE!!
Amazing all inclusive resort with many amenities including beach cabanas, daily activities and great dining. Highly recommend getting the jerk chicken they cook on the beach daily! The staff is incredibly friendly. We had a room with a butler, Chantell, that planned all our dining and excursions for us. We are already looking forward to coming back!
Celebrating a milestone b'day, and Kaysie-Ann started us off right! She's kind, accommodating and a bright light!! She took care of us like we were family! Much love to her!! There are too many people to name who made this trip amazing, Moneke, Glenn, Jean-Claude, and the list goes on and on. Kaysie-Ann and the staff made this an unforgettable trip!
I like that it never felt crowded. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was the highlight with their friendly and attentive service. The food had some hot and misses but overall was okay. The highlight was the Italian and Asian for atmosphere and food quality.
I was expecting a more luxurious experience, similar to what you might find at a resort in Mexico. The property felt a bit smaller than I had anticipated, and the grounds could benefit from some improvements. On a positive note, I appreciated the complimentary kayaking, though I do wish we had more freedom to explore beyond the small inlet. It’s a great place to unwind, but it may not meet your expectations if you're looking for a high-value, luxury experience given the price point.
The activities and nightly entertainment was great. The architecture was beautiful. The food was decent, I loved the variety…they even had beef patties! The staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a lot to do. I also loved that my child could stay in the kids club and have a great time by himself. My family even got to play beach soccer and regular soccer on the soccer field. It was an epic match between the generations of men in my fam. Lastly, the sunset by the beach was amazing. We had unobstructed views from several spots.
The property itself was pretty nice. However, The suite had a few issues (hot water stopped working in a bathroom, the fridge beeped for hrs until a tech could look at it and instruct us on how to manage that issue). A couple of my family members also had room issues. I was really surprised that the main entrance was down a service entrance hallway that was humid and very visually unappealing. It took very long for the cleaning staff to take care of my room after a service call, even though I had Butler service and there wasn’t a DND sign on my door.
The staff was excellent especially our Bulters Toby also Vernon and the lifeguards Ricardo and Nicolas ! The chief chef provided some ackee and saltfish for our group on request which was greatly appreciated because they didn’t have ackee that day ! The staff sang Jamaican happy birthday rendition for my three cousins if there is away for me to send you the video let me know !
The air conditioner seem to be off at times the washer and dryer in our room doesn’t work very well !
We are currently at the resort and this is our second stay here, last was a couple of years ago. If you are planning on coming here please CANCEL your reservation ASAP and look elsewhere. The hotel is under new management and the place is horrendous. Rooms not ready when you check in even when they say they are. A/C not working in rooms, restaurants or common areas. Elevators not working. Restaurants closed. All the good staff has left as they know this place is under terrible management. They charge for room service now. And require a card to get towels. We are thoroughly disappointed and cannot wait to leave. I should have know prior to leaving this would be bad as the phone line disconnected every time you called them. And other reviews have stayed similar stories. I highly recommend NOT coming to this place.
My family and I went for cousin 50th birthday celebration, so I was about 50 family and friends. From the time we enter the resort everyone was so welcoming and sweet. We was greeted with good morning by everyone we saw. This is my 3rd time to Jamaica and this resort had the best employees, they was so friendly, all of them up bit smiles on their faces. I love the fact that this resort was not crowed. We got the room with butler service which was the best thing ever, I was so happy that we paid for it. Our room was an apartment, we had 2 rooms, 2 bathroom, washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, lost of closet space, we had 2 balcony, living dinner room and kitchen. We stated in Building B which had it own coffee cafe with a view, which you get fresh coffee and pastries everyday, so you did not even have to go breakfast if you a light eater. The pools and beach was empty for most of day, you can get seat in shaded areas. Don't forget about the Jamaican ice-cream, my son and I had it 2 or 3 times a day, we tried every flavor they had. Their so much more about the resort that I love, you just have to go and enjoy it for yourself. The only bad part of this resort the do not have any restaurants or snack bars open after 10 pm, but the do offer room service. But if you have a butler the leave a 8 pm the can leave food in your room for you or order outside food for you before they leave. Also, I did not like the type of rice the served with the rice a peas. I just need to give a big shout out to our amazing butlers Chantell and Alpochino, especially our girl Chantell, from the day we met her she was so sweet and warm to us. We connected with her right away. She was so helpful on everything we asked about, she even helped out 2 others rooms who had butlers. they both made sure text us, in the morning when they get to work and before the leave. Chantell would meet us everyday in the morning before she left. If you got there please request her as your butler. PLEASE CHANTELL NEEDS A RAISE AND SHE NEED TO BE RUNNING MANAGMENT OR SOMETHING AT THE RESORT SHE IS THAT GREAT! I will be booking this resort again. Thank you for a wonderful peaceful vacation!
I've visited several Jamaican all-inclusive resorts as Jamaica and its people remain one of my favourite islands to visit. The Jewel Grande stands out as a tall, clean, and spacious property, though some areas lacked air conditioning and resorted to large fans. The steakhouse offered the best steak I've had in the Caribbean, though it's not quite Chicago-level. Yes, the beach has some sea grass but is pleasant to walk on, and there are ample chairs and cabanas, though staffing was sometimes stretched at the cabanas. The manmade barrier made the waves enjoyable and re-entering on waves in the hobie cat fun. Restaurant quality was generally good, especially for Jamaican cuisine, but menus were limited and items frequently unavailable; the Italian restaurant had long wait (just under 2 hours from sitting down to food). More attentive, never asked for drinks during any meal other than steakhouse. Also more late-night food options would be welcome. Food access during the off times is more restrictive than other places. The jerk chicken made every day on a grill/smoker on the beach was so good and cabana attendant brought us this every day for lunch. The resort had a lively cultural atmosphere with many Jamaican families (ex-pats and current Jamaican residents), and the staff were friendly and hardworking, though occasionally seemed understaffed (Italian kitchen staff and cabana especially)—special mention goes to Winston at the cabanas and our excellent butlers, Lennox and Toby. Drink quality was really good and not as watered down as other resorts where I have had to insist upon some alcohol in my drink. Our multi-bedroom oceanfront room was comfortable, despite minor issues like insufficient hot water to fill the large tub and missed fridge restocking, however our butler Toby took care of restocking and many items along with Lennox. Housekeeping could improve consistency as they only cleaned once and would left clean towels. In their defense we had do not disturb in mornings but no checks later in day and we never had turndown service (which I don’t really care for other than restocking towels and beverages). Only odd interaction I had was with a security guard while waiting to go to sister resort via golf cart to the ATM (Please get an ATM on your property)…he just said I should give him $20 because he called the golf cart. I laughed that off and just said no. Weird, but people are people and don’t know his situation. He didn’t press our make me feel uncomfortable or try to press. We were celebrating for our trip there so the floors and champaign was so well done...rose petals everywhere. Other items: Resort excursion options felt limited but private snorkeling excursion to doctor’s cave reef area was great. The room key bracelets were great but sometimes fell off small wrists. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall experience was positive and again for me I really loved having so many Jamaican families there and Jamaican food. The large villas at the beachfront and ones I believe I saw in silver palm courtyard look fun and filled with large families enjoying their time. I would consider returning, possibly for a family reunion. Thanks again Lennox, Toby and Winston for making it extra special.
This was my third time staying at Jewel Grande, but unfortunately the worst! My son and his 2 daughters (16 and 4) was vacationing with me to celebrate my birthday 7/18/25. Our stay was from 7/15-7/22/2025. Don't get me wrong, the service from my 2 butlers Toby and Lennox who were assigned to my suite, was excellent! I had superb service from my waiter Daniel, for my Ocean Gazebo birthday dinner, (which ended up being set up on the boardwalk in the blazing hot sun at 5pm, instead of the Gazebo which of course is covered). The dinner time was changed to 7pm, but we were not served dinner until after 9pm..... because they had Daniel walking from the Boardwalk to the restaurant (Waves) located near the lobby, which is quite a long distance WITH NO ASSISTANCE! ONE WAITER on foot going back and forth with large trays in each hand. This was absolutely ridiculous!! RUINED MY BIRTHDAY DINNER!! Not to mention the very hard grained rice and peas that was served with Jerk Chicken at US$120 per person!! The appetizer shown on the menu I chose, was changed without anyone saying a word to me. I could have gotten a much tastier meal at the buffet in Orchids where we ate everyday without any complaint about food. The only problem with Orchid, inside the dinning area the air conditioning was not working, so we would eat in a sauna!! The workers were sweating, the conditions were horrible, but the food was off the chain at Orchid. The managers Sherri-Lee and Asari did their best to compensate by offering me another day to have my dinner actually in the Gazebo, but that did not turn out too well either. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THEY WERE VERY SHORT STAFFED. Even at the Cabanas, which I have always rented and had my own "butler" as advertised by the hotel, this trip the first day (July 19th)there were 2 butlers serving 8 cabanas, and the second day (July 21st) there was only ONE butler serving all 8 cabanas. MANY OF THE ACTIVITES THAT I LIKED WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE SOFT ICE CREAM BAR WHICH I KNEW MY 4 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WOULD HAVE LIKED, WAS OUT OF SERVICE. ONE OF THE TWO ELEVATORS SERVICING GUEST IN BUILDING B where our room was, WAS OUT OF SERVICE AND YOU WOULD FEEL LIKE YOU WERE IN A SAUNA IN THE ONE THAT WAS WORKING WHENEVER IT EVENTUALLY CAME!! Too many things were not functioning on this trip without any form of monetary compensation! It was very disappointing as my visits before had me boasting to my son and others, how great this resort is. I was told it is now under new management. If that is so, I'm sorry, I need the previous management back on board!!! I think I will try another hotel for my next visit. Me and my family were not the happiest of campers this time around.
The daily entertainment activities were amazing. We get enjoyed times anytime and anywhere. Also, the beach was so calmed and warm, my family love stay inside the water and swimming there.
There weren't too much options in the bar and I think they can improve the list of drinks offered
Awesome stay! Beautiful resort, superb food, and top-notch service. Truly a Jamaican paradise! Our photographer was the best. SmithCamrayan@gmail.com-1876-796-2771
My family and I just returned from our second stay at the Jewel Grande. We had the 2BR OF deluxe suite. THE GOOD: The staff does a wonderful job at keeping the grounds immaculate. Our suite was spacious and cleaned daily. There were several different onsite restaurants to enjoy and a lot of variety. We found the food to be delicious. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Shout out to Shameka in dining and Andre in the gift shop. They were both very helpful and polite. THINGS TO IMPROVE: There were plumbing issues from the start. The water pressure was too high and the toilets were running (probably due to pressure). We did not have hot water one night. The faucet did not reach over the sink far enough, so the entire sink area would get wet. We had to constantly ask for face cloths (staff should leave at least 2 per day/guest). TIPS: Review & Book restaurants/excursions upon arrival. Before heading to the beach, ensure you have towel cards issued by the front desk to pick up towels from the towel hut located by the main pool.
I want to start on a positive note—the butler suites are fantastic, and the rooms are well-appointed. I have stayed at the Jewel Grand approximately three or four times in the past, and I've always had a pleasant experience. However, during my most recent visit, neither my guest nor I felt the charm we had previously enjoyed. Firstly, we were surprised to learn that room service incurs an additional fee, as we had not encountered this policy during our previous stays. Additionally, I requested to speak with a supervisor, but I was informed that one would reach out to us, which did not happen. Unfortunately, the level of professionalism from some personnel members was lacking during this visit, leaving me disappointed with my overall experience. Sincerely,
"We stayed at this resort from July 13th to July 19th. We had a wonderful time. From check in to check out we had a great time. We ate at several restaurants during our stay. The cuisine was awesome from ackee and salt fish, to bammy, bread fruit, jerk chicken, curried chicken, mixed vegetables, plantains, soursop juice (which brought back memories from my childhood), sorrel juice, desserts, and more, we ate WELL every single day. Every staff on the resort was very welcoming and very professional in doing their job with excellence. The resort was relaxing, and we had very good weather. Our excursion to the Bob Marley house was great. Our driver Ian handled the roads up to the mountains well. Our tour guide was very informative as she talked about Jamaica, the culture, the people, the wonderful cuisine and so much more. The Michael Jackson show was awesome too. We had such a great time, and we appreciated the excellent customer service from everyone we encountered on the resort. THANK YOU!" Sincerely Sophia Delva-Saunders
Everything was AMAZING. My husband and I came here for my birthday and we were not disappointed!!!
The only thing I would say is we stayed in the new building and some of our room lights flickered alot when you turned them on.
Absolute perfection! Our family visited the Jewel Grande last week and it was amazing! Our room was clean and beautiful, the food was great at every restaurant, and the best part was the wonderful staff. These are the kindest, most accommodating people we have ever come across during our travels! Jermaine is the best! He played ping pong (he’s the champ!) and cornhole with our family and added so much fun to our trip! He is the nicest guy and just so much fun! Special K at the sentry pool bar was awesome too! And Inez at the spa gave me the absolute best foot massage I’ve ever had in my life! The Himalayan salt room at the spa is beautiful! I highly recommend the Jewel Grande!
We arrived on Friday, the reception was nice and the beach is beautiful. The food is delicious, the pool is nice, and the rooms are clean. The view is very nice, the animation is very beautiful, and the service is delicious.🥰❤️
Two weeks after our stay and I miss it already. We traveled with two adults and a teen. The room was a pleasant surprise...it was huge! We had a full kitchen, although the only provided items were mugs and glasses, so not sure of the point. There was also a full washer and dryer which was a bonus. The fridge was stocked daily, and the room was cleaned well each day. My only complaint is the sofa bed. My son had to sleep on the couch since the pull-out bed was horrendous and could not be slept on. The food: Fantastic! We couldn't stop eating the jerk chicken and had it almost every day. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. I'm not a breakfast food person, and there were lunch options always available (ackee & saltfish and rundown? Heck yeah!) We tried all the restaurants. The Asian (the one that requires a reservation) was mid, but the rest were great. We only waited a bit for the steakhouse. My personal favorite was the buffet which we hit up twice. The curry goat was out of this world. The beach situation varied. The employees work hard each morning clearing the endless supply of seaweed. There was little seaweed in the protected swim area during the second half of our trip. There were always areas without seaweed. Beach chairs were available with umbrellas. Definitely go for a catamaran sail. Our captain was a hoot. The pool entertainment was a blast. If you're not a fan, there's a quiet pool on the other side of the resort. Again, always chairs available. My request to this resort and pretty much every other resort...get more umbrellas! One of my favorite aspects of this resort: Reggae! I'm a huge reggae fan and it was constantly played wherever you went. I was scared of hearing American pop music, but the only time I heard that was during pool entertainment events. Thank you for this! Gripes: Not many. A place to return used plates and glasses would be great. Although they are collected, sometimes they piled up and it's not pleasant sitting next to someone's old lunch. Tips: Bring an insulated cup for frozen drinks and a metal straw. They use paper straws which stink with a daiquiri. Hit up the Hip Strip for souvenirs ($7.99 t-shirts!) and absolutely go to the Pork Pit (best jerk I've ever had).
Fantastic experience, we didn’t want to go back home 🥲 the hotel has absolutely stunning views, plenty of restaurants and bars, neatly maintained beach area, adult and family pools, kids club, nightly entertainment- you name it! We stayed for the first time with our 7 months old baby, and I must say he adjusted there better than at home 😄 we had baby crib arranged in the room, in the restaurants we always had steamed options to offer first solids to our baby, and we had plenty of territory to walk around with the stroller. Our baby boy had his first swim in the pool and sea over there, so it was surely a very memorable experience. Oh, and we loved having a cabana by the beach - highly recommend to anyone out there. The convenience of having own space to rest while enjoying the butler service is totally worth every dime. Also, kudos to the chefs at Le Bouchon, Asian and Waves restaurants - the food was absolutely phenomenal! Buffet breakfast was equally great, plenty of options to choose from, and the little coffee place next to it had delicious ice cream and sweets served all day. We haven’t tried the other venues because of short stay, but I’ve heard great things about the Italian restaurant too. But apart from all of this, I must commend the staff: everyone, from bellmen and receptionists to housekeeping, servers, butlers and security - absolutely everyone had been very friendly, polite and attentive to our needs as young parents. Our baby got spoiled with attention received from everyone, at some point we felt Jamaica felt just like home ❤️ Thank you for this absolutely wonderful experience and we will surely be back!
Just returned from one of the best vacations my family and I have had in a long time, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Jewel Grande Montego Bay Resort! From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. A special thank you to our amazing butlers Orrett and Suline, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and special. They were truly at our beck and call—always warm, attentive, and two steps ahead of our needs. 💫 The food? Absolutely delicious! And the entire resort staff was incredible—friendly, professional, and always willing to guide and answer questions with a smile. We felt relaxed, cared for, and genuinely appreciated. What more can you ask for in a getaway? All the best to this incredible resort and the beautiful nation of Jamaica. We’ll definitely be back! 🌴🌞💚 #JewelGrande #MontegoBay #JamaicaVacation #LuxuryResort #FamilyTravel #ButlerService #IslandVibes #TravelReview
We have stayed at this resort many times and this will be the last. The problem is with the management of the property. The actual workers/servers are fantastic- very friendly and accommodating. The indoor common spaces and restaurants are very hot- either no air conditioning on or just barely there., no fans or moving air. It’s uncomfortable to eat or be inside. ( The rooms air conditioning is good so sleeping is not a problem). They shut down restaurants when it’s very busy here and it’s very difficult to get into them. The dinner buffet is subpar compared to any resort we’ve been to so if you can’t get into a restaurant, the food choices there are minimal. This resort can and has been better. The decisions from the top level should focus more on the guests like it used to.
My family and I have been staying at this property since it first opened. Most years we visit twice. This property has lost all sense of management in the last two years. In December we visited and had no hot water for six of our 10 nights. The general manager informed me I would receive credit upon check out. I received zero. I returned in July with a party of 10. Last night they closed two of the four available restaurants on one of the busiest nights. We had to settle for the buffet that served the same options as lunch. Also I booked four rooms. Two king rooms and two double. They gave one of my double rooms to someone else leaving two men in a king room. The staff here is amazing and a major reason we return. I'm done with this property. Been coming to Jamaica for over twenty years and will spend my time at another resort. I also owned my own restaurant for over thirty years and can tell you the way they operate they won't be around for too much longer. This property was amazing ten years ago it's sad to see what poor management can do to once beautiful resort. Dan Kachadoorian
I had such a magnificent time there with my family , the staffs where extremely friendly an I love the scenery from the balcony, the property is well clean an the pools worth staying in all day . The food's was delicious especially the jerk chicken on the beach, they got alot variety meals to choose from . I love the entertainment at nights along with night club . An the pools bars are lit . Will diffinetly visit there again.
The entire staff were so kind and accommodating. The Asian Restaurant was not our favorite. The food was not very good especially the dessert. Had we known that there was teppanyaki option we may have had enjoyed that better.
The property was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was not very good The steakhouse and Asian restaurants were closed every other night. The buffet was ok, breakfast was the best part.
.
we arrived February 21 -25 2025 the bus was waiting for us, very friendly. arrived early so we enjoy Lobby bar food, drinks music very warm atmosphere, one bedroom ocean front suite was beautiful view, there was always transportation available, Happy Birthday cake on the kitchen table, in my room Waves food was good, silver cafe. We especially like River rafting private tour for my Birthday, Dunn River party was disappointing kept changing the time after 4 hour we left the hospitality was terrible didn't offer us, some other activity to do, we had to wait for the bus to return to take us back to resort very upsetting on my birthday, the representative that books the trip was very lovely helpful and apologies, was able to get some of our money back, overall, major of the restaurants was taste . I would return back to Jewel Grande again
I had an amazing time at the Jewel Grande! 10/10 Experience! The food was out of this world and hit every time. Shoutout to Ms. Annetta who made my omelettes for breakfast at Orchids Buffet…so so good. And Ms Kim who served at Crickets Grill. I miss her already! Her service was impeccable!
The food was really good. The staff members were all very welcoming and accommodating. We loved the water sports and the jacuzzi. We would definitely return to this hotel.
7 of us in the Penthouse Butler Suite. 3 of us on the 2nd floor. The top 4 issues: little to no running water in the Penthouse for our entire stay of 4 nights. Showering was a joke. Not to mention being able to wash our hands after using the restroom. There was animal urine all over the 2nd floor unit. The AC on the second floor in the first unit wasn't working. They reluctantly moved us after 2 full days. There was a puddle of...we're not sure what...that was oozing from the toilet. These items listed are simply the basics. There were so many other issues. I could write for DAYS. The Italian restaurant experience was horrible. After waiting almost 2 full hours for dinner, we were served cold food. Wrong drinks, repeatedly. It's as if they didn't even care. The "butler" service: while some attempted to be helpful, others were not at all. They tell you to ask for any and everything and they will arrange it but it's not that simple. You wait for hours and hours, sometimes days for a satisfactory accommodation. Sometimes it never comes. They would tell us that reservations at the restaurants had been made...only to show up at the appointed time and be told there is no reservation for us and they did not have room to seat us. Transportation to and from the hotel was a joke. Just Uber...better yet...DON'T GO AT ALL! The issues are FAR TOO MANY to list. After being placated for days, I spoke with the manager on our last full day. We had a respectable conversation and he offered a private dinner for my daughter's 30th birthday (which was lovely) but the compensation was nowhere NEAR what it should have been for basic sanitary conditions. We spent over $13,000 at the resort alone; not to mention over $8,000 just to get there.
Family of four stayed five nights with our age 20 and 17 daughters. I'm a rather picky customer so when I say don't hesitate, book the trip, I mean it. Being under 20 min to the airport was a huge plus for me. Food was way better than any cruise I've taken. Drinks 🍸 were A+, the staff is absolutely the best of the best. Impeccable housekeeping (I mean wow!). Activities were plenty and fun (Uptown Baby, you are such a jewel and a joy, love,Team Tuti Fruity). If you need to use a stroller or wheelchair/device, getting around the resort will be longer routes, as the most direct ways are stairs and steep ramps, so consider that, but there are golf carts that shuttle people also. My ONLY suggestion for improvement to the amenities is that air conditioning should be added to the gym and cardio areas. The lack of ac in the gym really surprised/disappointed me so I only used it once although I planned to go daily. The nightly shows were good. Thank you for the Reggae concert! This was our first trip to Jamaica and I would absolutely 💯 stay here again.
Although the building is beginning to show its age, Tia at the front desk, Vernon-Bellman, Patrick -Driver, Romain- bartender. and Liqi-poolside Butler were all outstanding. They made sure that every part of our vacation was enjoyable.
Friendly anf helpful staff, great amenities, lots of food options
Good: comfortable beds, great coffee, very friendly people. Bad: slow service in restaurants and they seem to open when they want. Once your glass is filled once don’t expect anyone to ask to refill. We don’t drink; this was just water and coke we waited on. The taxi people outside are super pushy even when we told them we did not need a ride they insisted we cancel with people we booked and use them instead. Patio doors will not fully close so the room stayed pretty warm and we couldn’t open the curtains because that would let more heat in. Wouldn’t go back.
My first time in Jamaica and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. It was perfecr
Everyone there is amazing. So welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view as promised. We will recommend and plan our next trip there.
I honestly thought it was great and have no complain complaints besides, I wish they had more authentic Jamaican dishes like beef patties, cocoa bread, EXT!!
I truly love the resort and the food was wonderful. My only complaint and I’m sure there’s nothing you can do about it. It was just too much stairs…
Just up and down so many different stairs
Just got back from staying here. I took my mom and my 3 kids. This resort was beautiful and the staff was lovely! Everyone was so kind. The food was amazing! I give it 10/10.
Awful experience will never go again, from the horrible room location, to the restaurants , couldn’t get in was told they are full, lies. and most especially the rude and disrespectful staff. Would not recommend this resort to anyone.
I want to thank the staff of Jewel Grande Montego for making our stay 06/11/2025 - 06/16/2025, and Birthday/Graduation Party celebration a memorable one for our daughter Dr. Nnyeko Griffiths and approximately 50+ friends and family that stayed at the hotel, plus 17 more for the event pass. Starting with Tamina the hotel’s group planner who got us premium ocean view rooms and assisted us with the party planning and set up, you did a great job. I required the person touch and you tried to assist at all times. Customer service that I received at the front desk was outstanding from check in to check out, and special shout out to Anathaniel, Audia and Moya. You guys always acted professional, respectful to members of our group, answered whatever questions we had, providing excellent service to the guests. Venessar, each time we dined in the buffet we just wanted to keep you for ourselves despite knowing that you had other guests to attend to. You have great people skill and that is what is needed in a job like yours. Keep up the excellent work. Mr. Puspendu, thank you for listening to the special dietary needs of individuals in our group and trying to accommodate them. I stayed in Suite C1103, and the view was spectacular and the room very lovely. The stay for myself and my group at Jewel Grande Montego was excellent, I would recommend the hotel and hope others have the same experience.
Our visit to Beaches Grande Montego Bay for an event was ruined by the blatantly rude and unprofessional behavior of a staff member named Ramon. From the moment members of our party arrived, they were treated with disrespect and condescension. As Black locals, we expect to be treated with the same courtesy and professionalism as every other guest. Our presence and money are just as valuable, and we should never be made to feel otherwise. We made an effort to address the situation directly and told Ramon, respectfully, that he should work on his customer service. His response? "I don't need to work on anything. I'm fine." This level of arrogance and disregard for guest feedback is completely unacceptable, especially in a resort that claims to pride itself on hospitality. Management must take this seriously. No guest should ever be dismissed or belittled for giving constructive feedback.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom butler's suite. Our butler's communicated mostly through text, rarely in person. They secured dinner reservations but beyond that we're of no help. Twice, following housekeeping service, we had blood smears on the bedding. We had to request fresh bedding. Floors were never swept or mopped during our stay. Requests for water in the mini bar were ignored and had to be requested multiple times each day. The food was good. Drinks were okay but they were very stingy with their liquor.
I recently had an unfortunate experience at Jewel Grande Montego Bay. While the resort itself is beautiful and many of the staff were excellent, my interaction with your in-house security personnel, RAMON, was extremely disappointing. His unprofessional and unpleasant attitude was unacceptable, especially in a hospitality environment where guest experience is paramount. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, I can confidently say that employees with such poor attitudes can severely damage the reputation and overall guest experience of any resort. Jewel Grande must address this matter promptly, as individuals like RAMON do not reflect the high standards that guests expect when choosing a luxury resort.
Outside of property was excellent. Inside was sub par. No air conditioning other than the room. Construction was going on during the entire stay. Loud banging noises throughout the day. Very annoying and overall bad experience. Rooms were in poor condition but advertised as new on the website. False advertising. We changed rooms but it wasn't much better. The shower knob fell off and almost flooded the bathroom. Took 45 minutes for maintenance to arrive. Good luck for any future travelers.
Beautiful resort. The food was delicious, the staff was always very attentive, and a lot to do.
We’ve been to Jamaica twice before this and this time, although wasn’t horrible, it was the least pleasant. Upon checking into our room (2bedroom 2 1/2 bathroom villa butler included) we noticed the shower in the master suite was not what was expected. Had bad scaling til where it appeared to be extremely dirty. The cabinets looked rugged and the overall appearance of the room was unsatisfactory considering the amount of money we paid for our week long vacation to stay there. We complained to our butler he notified management. We were offered another room that was just as bad so we declined. Fuming over the situation, being in another country on vacation we began to look for other accommodations. Unfortunately we were not able to find any within the area that would accommodate our time. Approximately 3 hours later we were notified by our butler that another suite was available for us. We accepted the new room and decided to make the best of this offer. Later that night at 6 we went to Moon Stone (Italian restaurant) and was immediately greeted by the rude hostess. Very rude. Most of the younger staff there are rude. I spoke to someone (maybe a manager maybe not as i was explaining the girl stared me down unapologetically almost as if she was mocking me). If it wasnt for our Butler, Orrett, we wouldve cancelled the entire vacation and come back home. Bottomline the room accommodations were very poor, most of the staff was rude. I would never consider staying at this resort again.
