Everyone was so friendly
Convenient location for an overnight stay on our way to Lake Tahoe. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern.
Price plus parking is extra cost ($32 with no valet parking).
Excellent location, just steps away from Old Sacramento. Great views. Spacious room. Superb pool area (though the pool closes too early, a little before 7pm). Excellent valet parking (fast, reliable).
Dirty room (a lot of dust behind furnitures, on window edges, etc.) See pictures! Maintenance came. Manager promised to send housekeeping the following day. When I came back, the room had not been vacuumed. Given the hotel rates, this is not acceptable. Room service wasn't good either (both dinner and breakfast). They waived breakfast as I insisted.
5 Stsr Service! All staff from our valet, to check-in and bellman, start to finish was friendly and professionall. The hotel room and amenities were clean and well maintained. We are seasoned trailers that can highly recommend this property.
Great Hotel. Very Very clean hotel
We had an excellent stay at this hotel one of the best hotel stays in a long time! The room was comfortable, quiet and the AC was quiet. Nice sized shower and cozy robes. Nice touch wine glasses and water glasses in the room. We loved the cocktail class and social hour. All of the staff members were super nice - from the pool attendant, valet, check-in, bartenders at Revival, staff at the social hour, housekeeping, etc. Big pool and nice clean gym. Located right next to the Golden One Center and convenient to many restaurants. We will return!!
The host staff was EXCELLENT!!! Very friendly and helpful. These 2 staff memebers went above and beyond for our stay and I am definitely coming back to this hotel!!!! Please recognize Noel and Emeli for there outstanding customer service and they should be recognized. Thanks Figueroa Family....
My boyfriend and I booked a room at the Kimpton basically just so we could use the pool for an afternoon (I live 3 miles away). I always love the vibe at the pool, it’s relaxing, not too busy on a weekday, and the service is friendly and attentive. I assumed we only got access to the pool the day we checked in but the next morning Emilee at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating. She not only facilitated having an item returned to me that I had forgotten in the room, but also made sure our keys worked to give us pool access that day as well.
excellent customer service when calling the front desk during check in and when calling them from the room because I needed help with the bathtub or needing a refill on something as simple as extra coffee creamer. I told them when booking that I would be celebrating my business anniversary there and they left the sweetest surprise for me which brought me to happy tears. truly an amazing experience with their customer service. the room was clean, facilities beautiful and up to date. I also love that they text us with activities going on throughout the hotel! overall 10/10 experience
genuinely can't think of anything
Love the rooftop pool area. The quality of the food on the rooftop is good. The rooms are also nice and pretty spacious.
We completely forgot it was a staycation! We felt like vip’s from the moment we walked in. Thank you for a great anniversary weekend.
I’ve wanted to visit The Kimpton for a while now, the pool area looks gorgeous from online, and it delivered. We had a fantastic day at the pool, great service. They were updating the cushions while we were there and everything looks great. The management was attentive and so friendly. They helped my kids get goggles when DoorDash couldn’t deliver. Front desk manager was so helpful, he got us set up with scooters to ride to a restaurant downtown. They also have these cute bikes you can borrow as well. Housekeeping also did a wonderful job, we travel quite a bit and it’s not often you see rooms as clean as these. Thank you Kimpton Sawyer! A+ stay!
The staff was professional and great customer service.
Nothing
Nice location
Everything is tooooo expensive. Should at lease offer a freebie in the lounge/ bar
I was not informed about where the dog area was and was embarased when I was reprimanded.
How attentive they were we had just adopted a puppy and they went above and beyond
Excellent stay! Felt very taken care of! The bed was super soft and the room was clean. The pool was great and everyone was so nice. Highly recommended!
Love this place. Great staff. Great rooms. Great pool area. Feels like a getaway in Sacramento.
Comfort & location
Nothing
It’s a beautiful location. The hotel was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff was incredible - I would like to give a special shout out to Noelle - she certainly went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and ensure we had everything we needed.
CLEAN, GOOD SERVICE
PLUGS IN ROOM SHUT OFF AND ON ALL NIGHT SO CPAP KEPT SHUTTING OFF AND ON DIDN'T SLEEP VERY GOOD
This hotel is the most incredible place to stay. The staff is so kind and hard working. All the amenities were so relaxing and welcoming. Always will come back!
The only complaint is the chairs on the private balconies from both of our stays were covered in bird droppings and the table seemed too small for a breakfast or meal. The reading light with our previous stay was broken and didn’t want to turn off so had to tape it with a bandage through the evening so we could sleep.
This is a nice, clean, modern hotel. We had a great room at the end of the hall with a big balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable, with good closet and drawer space, functional bedside tables and electrical outlets. The shower was kind of weak, but the bathroom had adequate counter space and there was a list of amenities they can provide if you’ve forgotten anything, very thoughtful (see photo). They welcomed us with a plate of sweets. When we had an issue with the TV they sent Maintenance promptly to fix it. There is no restaurant, just a bar with a light menu. They do offer room service breakfast, and there is an Echo & Rig restaurant just off the lobby which also serves breakfast til 10am. There are several other restaurants within a couple blocks, including the Hyatt Centric which had a very good breakfast available til 2pm daily. The location is great for attending an event at Golden 1 Center, just a few steps across the plaza.
Great stay when visiting Sacramento for work. This hotel is in a prime location, right next to Golden One Center. The rooms are spacious and modern. There is a restaurant on site, 24/7 room service, and a well-stocked mini bar. Enjoy complimentary evening refreshments and coffee in the morning.
I had the worse experience at the hotel. I’ve been a guest at the hotel in the pass, major issue, room not being ready by 5? When you plan on attend game and need to freshen up. In November 2026, close to Thanksgiving holidays, I had a friend visiting. I was profiled as a black woman by security sitting in the lobby drinking coffee, the security guard only approached me. Not any of the white guests. I shared a room with my friend. She left before me. I had my room key as the asked for it, I guess my word wasn’t enough. They told me to leave or they would call the police and told me to go to my room immediately and leave the facility, even though I had been a guest for to days and also a member of IGH . The general manager handle the issue horribly, she lied about what happened and why. She allowed me to think I was profiled for my race. She tried to back pedal and apologize. Her staff was unprofessional. It’s embarrassing. She could not handle the operations of her hotel and allowed third parties to dictate her behavior and job title. A General Manager she be accountable for her guest, not someone tells her staff how to her job. Emily Nichols needs to train her team to the highest standards and treat every guest based on these actions in the moment. Considering the Kimpton Sawyer Sacramento larges revenues comes from NBA player staying at the hotel, who are predominantly black and aggressive attacking a guest with threats is unacceptable. Her Guest Manager was also, extremely unprofessional. She also wouldn’t give me the name of the person above her as I felt the situation had not been resolved. If you’re a person of color be prepared. It ruined our stay and holiday. She became arrogant and threatening when I wouldn’t accept her apology and free tickets to a game. She didn’t understand the point of being blacked and threatened by staff.
Everything
Overall an underwhelming experience that caters more to a conference crowd. Do not expect any luxury, and not on par with other IHG/Kimpton hotel experiences. Then again, this might be to “best” Sacramento has to offer… I will try the Hyatt next time I ever need to come back to the area. DO NOT book through Chase Travel. Frankly, I do not understand why this hotel is on Chase Travel The Edit. Hotel dining credit is only applied to room service, which is limited menu and lacking in service. Hotel restaurant is apparently separately run so you cant do room charges there. Chance of upgrade is small on weekends if there are Kings games or conferences. Room service: Poor experience overall. One night we ordered in advance for scheduled delivery and they arrived 1 hour late. Second time they arrived 30min late. Forgot the potatoes saying their fryer was broken but then delivered us potatoes about 20min later after our food arrived. Both times saying the hotel was fully booked and they were understaffed. Rooms: We stayed in corner king. Not worth the extra prices we paid. Very basic with cheap furniture. Dusty corners and scratches on the desk. Not well maintained. Housekeeping: room was empty from 7am to 3pm and housecleaning never came. I had to call to request cleaning. Cleaning was basic, with our used tea cups left as is. Poor communication at checkout: Finally, at checkout, front desk manager asked about the stay and seemed apologetic after I explained the above. Our Chase travel credits evened out the bill so she said she would deposit some IHG points. Printed a final bill of zero balance owed. However, a few days later I see a charge on credit card. Had to call to find out it was for the amenity fee. Amenity charge: as mentioned, they will charge a nightly amenity fee but did not disclose on the final checkout bill. I had to contact them after seeing credit card charges. Amenity fee apparently goes towards the coffee and happy hours, which we did not attend a single one.
Overpriced. There is no breakfast on site other than room service (which is extremely expensive) and the rooms don't have tables or chairs to eat
Lack of breakfast. Extremely expensive. The HVAC in our room did not work.
Near multiple restaurants and activities
This hotel always feels like home and is one of California's best kept secrets if you are a frequent SF Bay to Tahoe traveler. Their pool area is honestly one of the best in Nor Cal, but if you like privacy my favorite time to go is in the early winter or spring before it becomes a total scene. The atmosphere totally chages based on whether there is a King's game or not. The patio rooms with the soaking tubs are honestly better than the suites IMHO. One of the reasons I am so fond of Sacramento and love to visit is that it has so many kind and fun people to interact with, and of course, the staff here embodies that flavor of hospitality that makes you want to return again and again. I'm sure I'll see you soon Sawyer! You rock! Love is the message!
Valet service was fast and easy
Everything! Location, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff, clean, and very comfortable!

Love the Kimpton! Close to everything. Fantastic Staff! Great atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable, get a balcony room, enjoy you morning coffee!
Room, staff, clean, location, and amenities. There is much to do and free events in lobby which are fun.
We had a great stay at the Sawyer Kimpton! From the moment we were greeted at the front desk we saw how kind and helpful the staff is! Rooms were clean and fresh, plenty of towels, and a lovely view. Also, a delicious, complementary coffee bar in the lobby each morning! We highly recommend!
More food choice’s for room service, simple and basic.
No breakfast restaurant on weekend
Did not get the reservation from you
Perfect location for exploring downtown and right next to the Golden one center
I found that the water wasn’t hot enough in the shower and I didn’t like how I had to check back in even though I extended my stay
The property was great and location/ parking was easy to get to. Hotel very clean staff very friendly as well. We checked out the roof top bar and pool it was a nice stay.
Nothing that I didn’t like, everything was above what we expected.
It was clean. People were nice
The parking
First time ever at the Kimpton sawyer. Went to the Kimpton Sawyer for our 25 year anniversary, stayed in a suite. What a complete disappointment!!! it should be called the red roof inn- They did leave the light on for ya ) there was broken lights. It was old,! stinky , dirty. & not clean. A drinking glass was broken ( thank god I didn’t cut myself! ) so you don’t want to drink any glasses from there, they must’ve gotten the artwork on clearance , garage sale, because it had water stains all over it as if it was in a flood. … place is a joke. Don’t bother. The service, Front Desk, and everything about the place was an absolute disappointment. Nobody was nice, they were rude, they never tried to make anything good. I’ll save my money.
Pretty much everything that represents the hotel.
No problems at all.
I’m currently staying here now. Second time and again overly impressed. Everyone from reception to security, the whole staff are the best of the best no kidding. They even saved my family from an unruly guest in the lobby as I was away for work. Even brought hot coco for the children. Also, establishment is modern and clean. Will keep coming back.
Location location location
Breakfast was excellent reasonably priced, tasty and large portions.
Nothing
Nothing
Extra charge for water bottles that was never communicated
I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was spotless, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be back!
The good things: 1) They welcome dogs of any size and breed without charging a pet fee. This is extremely rare. My dog is over the weight limit of most hotels, or a typical pet fee is $50-$150 per night. 2) There was a front desk person in his 20s maybe, working the night shift, who was very kind and gave good advice on where to walk the dog. Go about two blocks toward the Capitol and you’ll find a large grassy median. He was knowledgeable and caring. 3) One front desk person in a suit, maybe the manager, helped me roll a luggage cart up to my room, without asking. He could see that it was hard to get through a packed lobby with a cart and a dog, and he just jumped into action. 4) Their bath towels are the softest I have ever felt! The bathroom was well laid out, with a pretty design I’d want in my own home. The only minor issue was the glass wall in the shower is not the right size and water gets all over the floor. 5) It was a very comfortable bed and a great night’s sleep.
These things were disappointing or frustrating: 1) They toggle off the manual switch on their handicap doors, making them inaccessible and noncompliant with ADA. Both times the person who toggled the switch back for me, said if I have an issue with it I could talk to the front desk, which is irritating — they shouldn’t be passing me off to another team. They said it’s because the lobby gets cold when the door stays open automatically for 30 seconds. If so, then add a fleece jacket to your uniform. 2) I ordered room service and in the section for allergies wrote “no mayo no onion.” It came with onion. It’s not a severe allergy, but those kinds of mistakes can be serious. 3) The front desk person who checked me in kept referring to my dog as “my baby.” Does your baby need a dog bed? Does your baby need a water bowl? It felt cringey. 4) I skimmed the pet waiver form quickly because of the chaos in the lobby. Later, I read it more closely. If another guest complains about your dog, you could be liable for reimbursing them for the cost of their hotel stay?! That’s ridiculous and way outside the norm! 5) Finally, a tip: don’t check in as a basketball game is letting out. There was a mob of people — at least 100 — coming through the lobby for the parking garage underneath the hotel, which as far as I can tell is valet only. The basketball arena is on the back patio of the hotel. When the valet said they needed my keys as I pulled up to unload my luggage, I gave them my keys. But when I was ready to go inside the lobby, I said could somebody please lock my car? and they couldn’t find my keys. They said don’t worry about it, we’ll find your keys and you can go inside. And I said no way, I’ll wait until you find my keys and lock my car. So, the valet got swamped and didn’t have a secure process. That was an uncomfortable first impression of Kimpton.
The hotel was lovely and the service was 5*. They staff was helpful and concerned that everything about your stay was delightful.
Nothing.
Friendliest staff. Was able to bring my dog. And the hotel didn’t smell like a bunch of animals.
Loved it.
Proximity
Unable to accommodate joining rooms - family travelling with kids Our belongings were left on a trolley in reception all afternoon and not taken to the room as was promised when we checked in
We are locals and, as new parents, we’re looking for a little retreat — Klimpton Sawyer delivered. Morning kickstart, happy hour, gift delivered to the room — all special experiences that elevated our stay! Can’t wait to return!
The valet team are all very nice and excellent guest service.
This hotel is wildly overrated and absolutely not worth the price. Be warned: there is a hidden "amenities" fee of $179 PER NIGHT that was not clearly disclosed upfront. For what amenities, exactly? The "outdoor pool" that was unusable because it was freezing cold and raining? Or the free coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby? That's what I paid almost $200 a night extra for? We were explicitly told our dog would receive a pet bed and bowls. They never arrived. I called housekeeping at least 10 times throughout the evening -- no one answered. The front desk also did not pick up. Zero accountability. The next morning I finally got through, and when someone did come up, they brought the wrong items. Service across the board was terrible. Staff were unfriendly and dismissive, with the only exception being the valet team, who were actually kind and helpful -- and notably not hotel staff. Ironically, valet was also unavoidable. The hotel advertises self-parking, but when we arrived we were told valet is the only option during this time. So much for transparency. The room itself was nothing special. Stained carpet, basic finishes, and absolutely no "luxury" feel. Honestly, a Holiday Inn offers the same room quality - plus better service and fewer games with fees. Between the hidden charges, broken promises, unreachable staff, forced valet, and overall indifference, this stay felt like a complete cash grab. Save your money. Do not stay here.
Almost everything
There is no handheld shower
Close to a lot
The bathroom door wouldn’t stay shut in my room
We had a really good time at this hotel. The front desk staff and valet did so much to make sure we were comfortable. Love love love this hotel! Can’t wait to come back. Shout out to Haley for helping us with our reservation. We really needed connecting rooms and she worked hard to make it happen. The social password game was also fun!
All the amenities .
The Sawyer is always clean, posh and a fabulous place to stay
All that was in the description detailing room amenities
Bath room did not have any/extra hanging hooks
Nice hotel. Clean Rooms. Good service. Great food. I recommend this hotel if you’re in downtown Sacramento. The free Social hour drink and appetizers is a good touch.
The location of this hotel is boom, right in the heart of Sacramento Downtown, walking distance to all nice restaurants and Golden one center. Nice and clean hotel with friendly staff.
We stayed here for a family holiday trip and couldn’t have been happier. The outdoor pool being heated in the winter was a huge bonus for the kids. Every employee we met was smiling and genuinely helpful, and the valet team was impressively swift and responsive. Housekeeping kept everything spotless throughout our stay. Highly recommend for a comfortable and family-friendly getaway.
The hotel, location and attention was beyond perfect for a marathon trip
I stayed at the Kimpton with my friends and we had the best experience. The services were top notch and every experience at the hotel made you feel special and cared for. The amenities, location, and proximity to everything was why we chose this hotel and we couldn’t have made a better decision. Revival’s bar and staff were exceptional and the drinks were fantastic! Front desk staff and the director made our stay comfortable and were attentive to all our needs. Highly recommend this hotel!!
Great place with amazing people ! Front desk was nice and very knowledgeable about area. Shout out to Amir for helping us out with everything. Thank you !
One of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Rooms are nice and clean. Revival was such a fun place to mingle and they had great cocktails. Staff were knowledgeable about the area and very helpful and friendly. Also a great location to walk around. All in all such a great stay and I will be coming back and letting friends and family know about it!
We live close to Sacramento, so we often take "staycations" to surrounding cities. We have wanted to stay at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel for some time now. We were supposed to meet family for Thanksgiving, so we decided to stay at the Kimpton ... and are we glad we did. What makes this hotel absolutely fabulous is the staff ... everyone from valet, to the front desk staff, wait staff, housekeeping --- they are so helpful, gracious, understanding, and courteous. The bar (third floor rooftop adjacent the pool area) is fantastic. We had one of the best hamburgers we have ever had. The staff was fabulous, and the surroundings are beautiful. The hotel is located adjacent to the Kings Stadium and offers access to several restaurants, and easy walking access to Old Sacramento (one of my favorites). We highly recommend the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel.
