Close to the M5
Sadly the rooms are small and pokey, the lights didn’t work, there was issues with parking as the car park isn’t big enough for a hotel and restaurant. Over all I wasn’t impressed
We used the accommodation to have quick access to a wedding which was 7mins away. The room was very clean. Good amount of parking. We aren't sure we loved the self serve check in. It feels a little impersonal however the bar staff were on hand to speak to if needed. We had a small double room and it was a tight fit for two people. The hanging space did not allow a mid length dress to hang. The ironing board was a table one which was half the length of a normal ironing board and was difficult to use without creating more creases.
The bed was rock hard and extremely uncomfortable. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the people in the room next to us speaking like they were in our room. We were also woken up many times to the sound of someone plugging something into a power socket. Each time someone passed in the corridor the door would rattle. I had a discount applied to the room but I still don't think it was worth £100 a night.
The location is great for drive touring and for other nearby facilities like bars and restaurants. Parking is excellent. Access system is easy.
The room, although small, would have been acceptable. However, the shower was possibly the worst we have ever encountered. So small that you had to breathe in to get in and out through the very small door opening. A high step to get in and out which Is for genuine plumbing reasons, but no hand hold to assist that process, making a precarious undertaking to enter and exit. Also the shower head did not fit the holder and also sprayed water from the head to hose fitting. Toilet paper wasn't replaced when it ran out. No apparent system to ask for customer assistance. Tea cups provided but never cleaned or replaced. The bar/restaurant seemed to have cutlery left on table where no one was eating but people were sitting having a drink. This didn't seem like a good idea when fidget fingers start handling other people's utensils.
Excellent Very clean Food fantastic Great value
Good sized room, comfortable bed. Plenty of parking space , lovely staff. Enjoyed main course evening meal - belly pork , good breakfast
Self checking in and out , had to seek out a member of staff each time to help/ clarify info. Missed the personal touch. Also needed help to find directions to room as no information given!
The room was clean, if a bit small and the bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of choice at breakfast. Great for a stop over.
A short drive to the city and retaurant that could take us
Wasn't overly welcoming. However we got information when requested
Porridge, breakfast
Shower, too small
Lovely bar area, friendly staff, nice clean room, fab breakfast.
Not keen on self check in - feels impersonal - it’s more a question of personal taste, but I think having a human present at check in is not too difficult? It also felt a bit weird going down to a busy bar during the evening asking at the till for a pillow and some milk! Middle aged men supping on their pints maybe doesn’t mix with mad middle aged lady asking for a pillow! Notwithstanding this, I then had to ask again about 25 mins later, and to be fair, I got what was requested immediately with an apology and a “it’s been very busy”. The staff are so lovely - they don’t need to hide behind a self check in! I’d suggest that having dedicated “hotel” staff would also save mixing pub business with routine room requests, and make everyone’s life easier. The staff looked pushed to cope with a busy bar and routine room requests.
The breakfast was very poor quality. The room was clean but the bed was extremely uncomfortable and so were the pillows. We couldn't sleep for the night. We also booked a twin room but were given a double bed, which was no good. Very poor, when we particularly booked a twin. The bedroom window was open and jammed, so we could not shut it, making the room very cold. To be honest, we would have been more comfortable sleeping in our car. I could not recommend. The staff were pleasant.
All it needed was comfortable beds and pillows, a window that could be closed and a shelf in the shower. There was nothing to put the shampoo or shower gel on.
Nice clean place with friendly staff
Ours was a quick overnight stay to break a long journey home so all was OK, the standard double bed felt a little cramped.
Clean. Quiet(ish). Pleasant staff.
Improve room size for the price. Listen to the customer, especially when they ask for an extra sausage with breakfast. That isn’t asking a lot.
It is cute
The staff were friendly, food was lovely and room was clean.
The bed was uncomfortable and I kept banging my legs on the wooden base. No room to walk around the bed.
Good staff, food excellent
Room very small, although we paid for larger room, not sure that it was allocated to us.
Bona ubicació
Habitacio molt i molt petita i el bany diminut, gairebé no podia entrar a la dutxa i feia pudor de claveguera
Staff were pleasant and helpful. Very good breakfast
There was a horrible smell.in our bathroom but once we informed a member of staff we were quickly moved to a different room
There was plenty room for parking. The bar was excellent and the outside seating area was good. The food was very good.
Mysigt, typisk engelsk atmosfär. Bra mat.
Lite små rum, smala sängar, liten dusch.
Mysigt och pittoreskt
Små rum, smala sängar
Ideal location for our visit to the UK. en-route to Scotland.
No elevator, wife has balance issues, caused some stress, limited staff on duty in evening, no clear reception area.
Clean well presented room. Dinner good quality. Breakfast superb. All staff happy to help
Nothing
Breakfast excellent. Evening meal very good & value for money.
The TV was broken & the bathroom had a smell of sewage. We did advise someone when we left.
The ease of parking made it a good base for visiting Hereford and Tewksbury and a frequent bus service ran into Gloucester from a stop just across the road. The rooms were clean. The restaurant meals were delicious with a varied menu. We have small appetites and were able to share dishes, which made dining a pleasure. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Despite being a busy pub, the rooms were quiet.
The hotel was fully booked when we arrived and our first room was rather small and it was only possible to enter the double bed comfortably on one side BUT after two nights, once a larger room became available with bedside tables on both sides of the bed, we were swapped at no extra charge.
L'emplacement La propreté Le breakfast
Le repas du soir. J'ai tenté une salade Caesar. 20£ pour une salade peu copieuse mais surtout abominable. Croutons mous, poulet cuit dans l'eau, quasi absence de fromage...une horreur.
Lovely old building - clean and functional room. Nice pub with good (but expensive) food.
Overall good Staff helpful and welcoming
Very basic room
Location
Room was really warm -
Dinner was good but they had run out of quite a few options.
After checking in remotely, it wasn't clear where our room was. The room was tiny but functional. We weren't advised that booking a time slot for breakfast was essential, so had to wait an hour. The breakfast staff were complaining that they were short staffed.
Staff great. Breakfast superb. Room very clean
Noisy stairs
exeptional all round

The location was convenient as a stop off travelling home from Cornwall. I did not like the self service aspect of checking in and out, and the entrances were not very inviting. The room was fine, not noisy. Breakfast was just ok not worth £17.
See above
Nice location free parking Windows that open, fan provided
Food expensive for the quality and presentation, Full English £17 very expensive Bed needs changing the topper did help
The location was apx 20 mins outside of Gloucester which was what I was looking for. On arrival the female member of staff was very helpful when there were no key cards left for the self check-in and she continued to show me to my room when she was clearly doubling up as waiting staff. The room was clean and inviting except for the shower floor which looked like it had some residue left over from a previous shower or clean and hadn't gone down the plug hole and had then dried on. Nevertheless the room was very nice and comfortable.
This place doesn't cater for vegans. I arrived at apx 8pm in the evening after a long day visiting my father in the hospital. I asked the man at the bar if they were still serving food and what vegan options they had. He said they had none other than the halloumi burger and they could take the halloumi off making it a mushroom burger. This didn't appeal so I asked for a bowl of chips and was informed they don't just offer chips. So I left the food and ate cereal in my room. I could have potentially lived with the food discrimination, and the outdated menu, had he been polite but I found his manner rude and unhelpful.
Clean
The room was lovely, clean and well stocked with all we needed for our stay
Nothing
Nothing really....although to be fair to the hotel it was nearly fully booked
Constant drone from main road Self check in Too far from town centre Most staff were fine but one little princess decided to put some attitude on me for no reason
comfortable room , great staff would recommenced to friends friendly and would book again

Self check in. Staff. Cleanliness. Location.
Stayed 2 nights and had a truly relaxing experience; great location and wonderful staff. Self-check in was a breeze and room (25) was bright and had everything we needed. Ate at the Thatch both nights where meals were good value and no skimping on portion size. Will definitely return. Thank You.
The building was beautiful & clean. Our room was comfirtable and we enjoyed iur stay.
Lovely place, fab service. Really dog friendly
It was so hot! (Not the fault of the hotel) but it meant we didnt sleep well!
Erg vriendelijk personeel die extra moeite deed even te helpen met een stukje gereedschap om mn motor te repareren
The food was excellent very tasty
The room was a little small and the drains smelled
The room was very clean and the food great (a little expensive)
We did ask to have a room overlooking g the Motorcycle. But couldnt have been further away.
Lovely place, friendly people! Great roadside location.
I was traveling without a car, which made it a little more difficult.
Spent 3 nights at the Thatch Inn earlier this week on the hottest days of the year so far. Easy to book over the phone. We brought our dog for an extra £10, which is pretty good value. The Thatch Inn is in a good location on a bus route into Gloucester centre, Stroud and surrounding areas. Due to the heat, we had to sleep with the window open, but we never heard much noise from the main road. There was an electric fan supplied and this was a massive help. The bar area is air conditioned and dogs are welcome. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice. Or room was clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely with us and our little dog. We’ll definitely stay again if we’re in the area.
Lovely old building nice decor good parking
Evening meal was a little small for price paid , shower cubicle small also
Very nice old pub with well kept grounds and great value for money.
Nothing really, will definitely visit again.
Loved the comfort of new sleeping rooms paired with the charm of the very old original section. Excellent food! We had very good breakfasts and dinners.
Absence of any human at check-in! Everything is electronic, right down to magnetizing your own keys. It’s efficient, but not warm or welcoming. No one to ask questions.
Excellent menu and a beautiful old pub. Well located not far off the motorway.
Service was poor. Basically they either need more staff, or waiting staff that know their jobs. Waiting 40 minutes to get a dessert only to have to go to the bar and ask! When you're paying top notch prices you expect top notch Service!
Tidy, compact room. Fairly-priced. Helpful staff. Loved the oak tree in the car park: more should be made of it! Get it dated and draw it to the punters' attempt, extoll its virtues.
Nothing really
Lovely comfortable bed and a good choice of menu for breakfast.
The shower was on the small side with the entry and exit impeded by the positioning of the shower unit!
Great location with lots to do in the area. Beautiful old pub with friendly staff, nicely looked after beer garden and an excellent chef! The food was great quality and really well presented, far better than standard pub grub. Carol looked after us very well for breakfast, thank you ☺️ our room was clean, cosy and simple with a very comfortable bed. Great value for money, booking direct and getting breakfast free was a nice bonus. Highly recommend
Great staff
Nothing
Excellent value for money, Great breakfast, lovely friendly atmosphere created by Sasha in the breakfast room, would definitely stay again 💯 %
Perfect stay. Welcoming helpful staff. We had a delicious lunch and breakfast. Room was clean, quiet and (despite the heatwave) nice and cool. Thanks.
Located in a nice part of the country, but on a busy B road. Room was smaller than average. Just glad we opted for a standard room, rather than the small. Food and drinks were good quality.
Pricey by comparison to other places we have visited. Almost £15 for a large house wine and a pint of cider. I think the cheapest main course on the menu (a burger) was £19. It was good, but not up to the price.
Character property and extremely local for my meetings the next morning.
Shower rooms very basic for the price, but that’s being really picky.
Very nice staff Great food
Easyly located by satnav. Clean and tidy.
The food was a little expencive.
All staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. accommodation was clean and well serviced. Food was excellent. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and we felt well looked after. The computerised reception worked well for the greater part. Easy to get into Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury.
It would have been nice to have had a dedicated person for any reception queries.
Great stay and good food
Nothing was wrong
Shower didn't work properly constantly changing from very hot to very cold.
A beautiful building, lovely gardens. Plenty of parking and a bus stop across the road to take you to Gloucester. We had booked 2 rooms, one of them was very nice and we had booked large rooms. Menu was nice.
We had asked if we could arrive at 1.00, unfortunately even though our message which we received back through Booking.com said the Inn said that was fine, when we arrived nobody had any idea this had been arranged. Thankfully after a short time this was sorted and someone showed us to the two bedrooms which we had organised for our friends. The first bedroom looked clean and presentable but when we saw the second bedroom it was quite a bit bigger which seemed strange as they were both meant to be large, our friend said not to worry but after a while realised how small their room was, our room had chest of drawers, double wardrobe large dressing table, unfortunately the other bedroom had no chest of drawers a single wardrobe and really was small. I felt quite bad about it but even though our friends were unhappy they decided not to speak to someone about it. The breakfast menu seemed very expensive and we have never had to pay for a cup of tea with the food and the full breakfast was over £17, the main menu was also quite expensive. We did order breakfast once and there was quite a long wait for the food to come.
Comfortable, quiet, clean. breakfast was good and variety on offer
Lighting at the dressing table was bad to do make up.
Nettes Ambiente
Es war kaum Platz den Koffer zu öffnen
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bed was comfortable.
The food was expensive and disappointing. The shower temperature was intermittent. There wasn't any comfortable seating if you just wanted a drink, the dining room and bar were combined. The decor and furnishings were very tired looking.
The rooms were comfortable. Bathroom was a modular design and fine for us. Staff were very friendly in the dining room. Another staff member helped one of our companions locate another shower when the shower in her room was not working.
Just wondering why we got a tip added that we were not expecting. We are not use to that process.
Schönes, stilvolles und gutes Haus. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle außerordentlich nett, freundlich, hilfsbereit und gut gelaunt. Absolute Empfehlung!
Es gab nichts negatives.
Good location nice atmosphere Very good room which was dog friendly and good value when booking direct Would definitely stay again
Great location for attending function at Elmore Court. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great
The bed was very comfy.
There wasn't room for 2 large suitcases.
We liked the comfy bed (a divan so we didn't bash ourselves on the legs).
The lack of even Freeview or Freesat channels on the tv was very disappointing.. could only view a very few channels. The sausage as part of the cooked breakfast was not to our taste..not as good as previous times.
Ok, just an overnight stop on way to the south west
It was ok
We had a comfortable stay for one night. Had a good breakfast which was included in the price and also had dinner in the restaurant the evening we arrived.
Table lamp not working. The shower was a bit small.
Nice place to stay , very friendly staff very well maintained and rooms very clean with good facilities
Nothing really
Posibilidad de cenar y tomar algo en el mismo alojamiento y su terraza. Aparcamiento gratuito para el vehículo
Lovely place, easy check in, staff super friendly and a lovely pub and bar area
Bit of road noise, not much apart from that just a little expensive on the drinks!
Very nice accommodation. It looks like it has just been redecorated. Staff were very friendly, and a great choice for breakfast in the morning. Lots of parking.
People in the bar were friendly and helpful
Very small room. Difficult to deal with luggage Difficult to get out of bed on one side
Old charm
Toilet was smelling although it was clean
Great location. Great staff and restaurant service and food.
My local pub and it is fab, super dog friendly for responsible dogs and their owners - great beers and the bar manager is great and very dog friendly. Good food too. I’ve been coming here for over 25 years and yes recently there’s been some modernisation of bars etc but they’ve kept the feel of the place and it’s great to see it regularly busy utilising the space it now has and better able to do food and multiple different beers. It wouldn’t have lasted with the old setup. Fab place and fab staff - visit it and you won’t be disappointed 😀
The building is old with lots of history and the Bar is great
The smallest shower in the world. Its tiny, and the room is noisy due to the main road. The price is too much for this room and therefore it is not a place I would return to.
Great location just a 30 min walk along the canal path into Gloucester centre
Can hear the people in the next room coughing talking etc
Perfect location and parking
Nice staff and bar Great food
Good food.
Good location, free parking, good breakfast with plenty of choices which was included in the price. Massive bed.
Did look to book again next year but breakfast was listed as extra at £17 for beans, 1 sausage, 1 bacon, tomato, fried egg.
Used to be a lovely venue, personally I think the new bar area completely changed the vibe of the whole place (for the worse). Bar manager needs to sort his attitude out as well.
The property was in a great location. The room was clean and tidy, The staff we're very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. It was great value for money.
Easy to arrange a late night check in.
The self check out system wasnt that good.
Lovely clean room, very helpful staff and a good breakfast.
Great place to stay, clean room, quiet and lovely food.
Good safe place to stay for a solo female. Clean room, a friendly bar/restaurant, car parking (though it can get busy but I found there was someone to help me park in a tight spot. Food fine for the price. The location is on a main road in the outskirts of Gloucester so good for visiting the city, and it is only 10 miles to Slimbridge (though it took 3 hours because the M5 was closed for many hours and all traffic funelled onto the main road!) The room prices are low unless you want Cheltenham Races week, when prices reach dizzy heights everywhere.
Edificio antico e molto suggestivo al di fuori, rinnovato all'interno mantenendo le caratteristiche storiche. Comodissimo l'ampio parcheggio e possibilità di cenare nel pub sottostante
bagno poco curato
The food! Aside from our breakfast this week, our food has been what can only be described as garbage. We arrived and I could smell the deliciousness straight away. I have dysphagia, and I struggle to swallow, but subbing chips for truffle mash was no problem. Fish, truffle mash is quite literally the best way to eat a fish supper. Seriously. Try it. Breakfast was amazing too. Im a happy girl. Also, to the lovely lady who waited on us at breakfast (11/05/25) my perfume wasnt by Lataffa. I took a pic of it. Please give it to her ♥️
Room was a little cold and the toilet didnt half make a racket.
Very clean room.
We stayed overnight for our trip to Cornwall. We booked two rooms as we had our dog, rooms were small and would be very uncomfortable in warm/hot weather. For bed and breakfast (standard) it was expensive! The staff were lovely, very approachable, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, but management need to rethink their prices or better still try staying overnight in Room 11 for example.
