Reviewed Sep 19, 2026The Holiday Inn Express Gloucester-South is a very good standard hotel. Despite being located close to the motorway, there is no noticeable traffic noise inside, which makes for a comfortable and relaxing stay. A particular advantage is the neighbouring Bumble Bee pub. It has a pleasant atmosphere and serves excellent food, making it a convenient and enjoyable option for lunch or dinner. Overall, a reliable hotel in a practical location, with the added benefit of a great pub right next door.
The only slight disappointment was the breakfast. It was a typical English breakfast, which may suit many guests, but the continental selection was quite limited. Apart from the usual toast, there was no fresh bread, cheese, cold cuts, or fresh fruit available.

Reviewed Sep 13, 2026Kerry was wonderful. Breakfast great with loads of options. Blackout windows. Great shower. Beds decent. Even a little treat for our dog. Can't fault them.
Room was a little warm but they provided a fan. I do think that senior management need to think about rosters more though. Some staff were working the day we arrived, and the night shift and then were back to start the morning shift. They were still brilliant, but they need a decent night's sleep too!

Could have updated air conditioning in the whole building. I’d prefer to stay and hang out at the reception where it’s much cooler due to the air conditioning. Bear in mind we went in the heat of summer this year. Just my opinion.

Reviewed Sep 4, 2026Location, check in process car park spaces. Great helpful staff. The kitchen on site was very helpful for a late meal and free tea and coffee in the evening was very welcome.
Could not turn the tap off fully which led to water running onto the floor. Did not realise immediately as checked in late. Very sparse breakfast due to supply issues with eggs (understandably) but not many other options and replenishing took too long.

The room was very hot, a fan was provided but it didn't tilt properly so was very effective, it was also noisy. We opened a window but the lock cable stopped it opening far enough. Also our room backed on to the dual carriageway so was very noisy with the window open. However with the window closed we couldn't hear any traffic, so the soundproofing was very effective.

Food. Unfortunately it looks like the menu has changed. I ordered a crispy chicken burger with fries, and it was disgusting to say the least. It resembled a frozen Birds Eye burger in a small bun and the fries were tough and possibly cooked and then reheated. I'm afraid my complaint went on deaf ears, so certainly won't be eating here again.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026El hotel está situado en un polígono comercial, tiene parking gratuito pero está lejos de la ciudad. No está mal para moverse por la zona, pero siempre y cuando lo uses solo para ir a dormir.
No tiene aire acondicionado y el calor se acumula en las habitaciones, imposible dormir. Las ventanas están bloqueadas (por seguridad) y solo puedes abrirlas un hueco pequeño para ventilar... si te atreves, porque están llenas de telarañas (menudo tamaño de bichos). Te dejan un ventilador pequeño en la habitación pero no sirve, hemos visto huéspedes sentados en la calle, salir por la noche a recepción (donde sí hay aire)... Y para colmo, una de las noche se activó la alarma de incendio a las 6AM por una "falsa alarma". Todos los huéspedes salimos corriendo (muy asustados), y no nos pidieron disculpas, ni una explicación ni detalle, ni nada. No volvería, hay mejores sitios y mejor calidad-precio.

I became aware that would not be able to check in until 10pm the following night due to my work hours, so I put a request in for a late check in (unsure if this was a thing). I also advised that I was driving a long van so would likely take up a few parking spaces. They emailed back within 20 minutes confirming the late check in was not a problem and they'd even cone off a few spaces so I could fit my van in. Sure enough, I saw the coned spaces and parked up with ease and then met at the desk by a lovely lady who checked me in in seconds. The next morning, I was seated for breakfast and checked out with no issues using the card drop off box. So easy and the staff couldn't do more to help. So so impressed.

Booking.com stating that some hotel rooms had air con. Unfortunately none had air con. This resulted in myself and my family having to move hotels. I am registered disabled and could’ve done without this inconvenience. Booking,com were meant to be contacting me again. Surprisingly, they have not! I shall not recommend or use Booking.Com again.
