The location. It is beautiful and was very convenient for the personal event my wife and I were attending
The electric connection serving the lamps in the room was temperamental. It worked sometimes. I anticipate there is a short somewhere. More importantly, the side lamp on the desk was not screwed in> when I attempted to switch the light on, the top came off in my hand and exposed the live elements .When I reported this to reception there was no sense of concern or apology The breakfasts was old fashioned and mainly unhealthy.
Good setting
The room was too small and looked like a office block
Beautiful property but accommodation was that of a boarding halls and location to the main part wasn’t not great either
Rooms location
Nice surroundings. Overall clean and tidy. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Breakfast is buffet and substantial.
The accomodation is separate from the estate's main building. The rooms are like student accommodation - very basic and low quality decor. Not an expensive stay but still really overpriced for what it is.
The views
All was fine where I stayed.
The cottages at Soloman Mansion had everything needed for a two-person stay. The space was a little tight with large suitcases, but it was a pleasant cottage with a full kitchen. The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating.
The mattress was a little soft and sagging in the middle and the space was a little tight with two large suitcases
It was a good location for what I needed.
It felt like it had been made to fit, the rooms felt like office blocks, not small but no love. The breakfast buffet was a little to be desired.
Only stayed a few hours, had an emergency and had to go home. But the separate accommodation was clean and tidy. But very noisy, doors banging and people coming up the metal steps mainly.
Beautiful surroundings and lovely staff who were all very accommodating. The price was very good, I will certainly be staying again on my next trip to Tunbridge Wells.
It would have been nice if the bar was open longer. 😉
Pillows smelled taps did not work properly . My husband had to hold toilet seat up to use it shower was poor and bed uncomfortable
Absolutely beautiful building and setting. The staff were really helpful and unobtrusive. There was a wedding the weekend we visited which also was not a distraction at all - in fact it was quite nice and lively without being rowdy! Breakfast was a good standard buffet breakfast which both my son and I enjoyed. Salomons is around a 20-25 minute walk from a really nice pub where we had pizza and a couple of drinks on the night we arrived.
Nothing really. The accommodation we were in (outside of the main building) was a little basic but completely fine given the price and given that you get the lovely hillside and woodland setting included!
I found the Museum, the science Theatre, and the history of the house fascinating, unusual and unexpected!!
Nothing
Beautiful location
Some of The wedding party were extremely noisy coming back to their room and in fact had a big argument outside their hotel room door in the corridor so we were woken very late at night by an arguing couple. Although not the hotels fault perhaps thick doors to the rooms or some sort of sound proofing would stop this.
Lovely setting with very friendly and helpful staff. Extremely relaxing and comfortable stay!
I don't think there's been anything that I haven't liked or was not expecting.
In a lovely setting, great for quiet evening walks
Could not really walk to any nearby facilities as roads narrow and busy
All was good ground's would have been lovely if it wasn't parched
The property is impressive in size but needs maintenance. The accommodation is separate from the main house
The accommodation is tired and needs decoration, the beds are small doubles and there is no water pressure for the showers.
Grounds are spectacular and peaceful, main building and breakfast superb, historical building with interesting free museum
Could have been clearer that actual accommodation is in separate new block which was uncomfortably hot and not at all in keeping with period building. Rooms lacked a refrigerator which was also difficult in the heat.
The room was very clean and comfortable, the grounds were amazing and the staff very really helpful.
Whilst the website did state that there were no catering facilities for evening meals it felt as though there was something missing in terms of possibly having a vending machine for snacks and cold drinks.
Accommodation is very basic, felt like student accommodation. The block had little/no sound insulation so could hear people moving around above. The metal bridge to the first floor was very noisy over our daughters room and they had a broken nights sleep. Breakfast was poor.
Breakfast Sound insulation
Very clean. Majority of staff cheerful and helpful. Main building and grounds beautiful. Breakfast was very good and a lot of choice despite being advertised as continental a full English buffet was available. Bed very comfortable
Directions to property not very visible and is down narrow country lanes and we missed it despite satnav and ended up driving around the whole estate through narrow lanes. Girl on reception was very confused about payment as we had prepaid. Floorboards in room above were VERY creaky although guests were quiet . Main lights did not work..... no glass or container in bathroom for toothbrush? Felt very basic.
Lovation peacful
Great layout, very comfortable space for two people. Nicely decorated.
Bed a little uncomfortable but not terrible.
Beautifully set. Good location.
The noise from the road and the beds weren’t very comfy. Breakfast overpriced.
Cottage kijkt uit op een muur. Matras geen goede kwaliteit. Enkele mankementen.
Wonderful setting & grounds, and close to Royal Tonbridge Wells and its amenities
There is no restaurant for evening meals and we weren’t aware that there was a wedding on that meant services were restricted
Location, views, staff
Comfortable bed and very clean. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Beautiful grounds.
I was in the room on the ground floor by the main entrance door so it was very nosy as people came back to the hotel late at night. Breakfast was chaotic, when I arrived there was next to no food left, the hot water had run out, no cutlery or cups to be found and it was hard to track down staff to ask for anything.
We were staying for a wedding so it was good for that purpose.
My son requested two cots. He was told that understandably this did not include bedding but he was not told it did not include mattresses so the children were unable to sleep in the cots. The venue were extremely reluctant to help him with this problem or even offer an alternative. A better understanding of the situation and a quick remedy would have been appreciated especially as we were all involved in the wedding.
Nice setting
Room was in building more like student accommodation ..very hot and stuffy Room next to entrance to building window blind had to be down and door buzzer annoying Very noisy, banging doors and drunken guests right outside window as was a wedding
The proprietor was amazing and Ash the cat was very welcoming. Great room lovely stay
Nothing
Locatie
Good breakfast friendly staff room basic but clean
Room small basic but clean
Amazing location, friendly staff and good breakfast.
Nothing, all good.
We stayed in one of the one bedroom cottages. Well equipped with everything and beautifully decorated.
N/A
Me and my daughter stayed here for the night because of its close proximity to Hever castle. Was blown away by its beauty. The breakfast was lovely and the staff friendly....Expecially the girl behind the bar.
Nothing not to like.
Lovely cottages, very clean and spacious in beautiful grounds with very friendly staff.
The bed wasn’t very comfortable and there was no air con in the main building or cottages.
The location
Room was so hot The roof in bathroom was open and water was dripping in due to rain Thermostat controller wasn't easy to use No response from reception on ringing them within working hrs The shower tap cap was loose In such hot weather property had just 1 small fan and that too only place it could be plugged in was near head which wasn't helpful Couldn't sleep entire night
Location staff clean
Mattress poor quality
Outlook on the estate was beautiful. Staff were helpful. Small historical museum about the estate owners.
Uphill walk to the residential area. Some lack of service when multiple functions co-incide.
Soort studentenhuizen
bad beds, below average breakfast, thin walls between rooms, ugly & wornout & outdated furniture everywhere, too hot in the rooms (no airco).
The location and grounds were stunning! Breakfast looked ok although I only had coffee and toast.
The accommodation itself let the stay down. The room was very tired and the carpet was very stained. I found it quite noisy , I think there was a herd of elephants staying above us and was woken at 6.30 am by noise outside. But- the bedding was spotless and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable.
Superb buffet breakfast
The carpet in my room could have been cleaner
The grounds are lovely and peaceful.
The room was very poor and basic - like staying in student accommodation. Extremely outdated. Would have been acceptable but disappointed if paying half the price but definitely a rip off for the price paid.
The grounds are beautiful
The accommodation was small and looked like I was staying in a chalet on a butlins weekender . The pictures advertisement on booking.com are deceiving to what you think you are booking . No staff around apart from a poor young lad on reception desk who's was security but had been placed on front desk on his first day . Do not be fooled by the advertisement or your be sadly disappointed.
Lovely grounds and manor house. The rooms are basic but at the price acceptable. No food available on the Sat, but ordered take away
I loved the buildings, the history, the staff and facilities. It wasn't quirky, it was different. A fascinating museum of the family and their amazing history enthralled me for two hours. Staff were really friendly and chatty. I stayed in their 'student' accommodation and it was quiet, comfortable and all facilities I wanted were there. Breakfast was easy and high quality.
Nothing.
Very relaxed atmosphere, the cottage was well appointed, clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent too, and delighted that our dog was made very welcome.
Nothing really, we had a great stay😀
breakfast & nature
they start cleaning / making noise before 11am, when it is official checkout time
Breakfast
Accomodation is a bit dated thought I was back at school. No air conditioning when it was really hot.
I liked the grounds. The friendly staff and the gym.
This is a difficult one. I knew the two rooms were separate to the estate but they were cramped and you could hear your surrounding guests. There was also a private event on so we couldn't properly experience the estate. I find it weird how they got planning permission for that accommodation building.
Beautiful setting
No Aircon in the rooms
The setting was totally beautiful
The rooms very very hot when we arrived and overnight but it was the hottest night of the year some guests were noisy
Lovely building and outdoor areas with scenic views for breakfast. The breakfast was also decent
The rooms were roasting with virtually no airflow. The fans were rubbish and barely did anything to resolve the issue. When we asked for more fans that was declined. The accommodation was also not was expected as it looked as if it had come straight off a council estate.
The place is amazing and any person would love it. Breakfast was really good as well. Free parking is appreciated 👍👍 But a 10 square meter room and no air conditioning is a problem for 90 pounds on reduced price. Apart from that everything was good
Read above
Main estate and grounds were beautiful
The rooms were really hot and they were quite noisy
The estate is beautiful. Easy check in and check out.
Beautiful grounds
Detached accommodation. Poor weather made it difficult to enjoy the central area.
Private parking and quiet location . We used the kitchen facilities and found it lovely and warm . A collegue said they were like army barracks but it didnt feel like that at all.
An out door seating space would be nice if the weather had been better. I was overcharged by the hotel but they were quick to reimburse me.
The main building was stunning
The Accomodation looked like a student dorm
Set in a beautiful area with huge grounds. Room was comfortable with the necessary facilities and clean. Breakfast choice is fairly limited but more than adequate and enjoyable.
Beautiful grounds. Free parking. Good breakfast.
Needs two chairs in the bedroom. This would enable one to stay by the dressing table /desk. The other in the corner to use to sit on. The bathroom sink does not hold water. The bathroom could do with maybe a cupboard or another shelf.
Stunning grounds.
Clean
Breakfast was great. Accommodation very convenient, basic and clean. Just a little too much noise with access door and people coming and going along metal gangway late at night.
The Manor House and grounds are stunning
Room is in a block and resembles a holiday camp. Room basic and bland. Rubbish in entrance when we arrived and still there when we left the next day.
Very good excellent a lovely place to stay
The area
Magnifique environnement
Lovely breakfast with a lovely view from the Conservatory
Mouldy shower wasn’t impressive
Comfortable, clean and affordable.
No fridge
Large beautiful grounds. Interesting buildings and history. A comodation was great too
Beautiful estate, well kept and clean. Everything I could wish for: old trees, birds, pond, valley and hills, nature in all ger splendour. Very nice foyer we had an amazing continental breakfast.
The cottage felt like a shoe box, one of the bathrooms bigger than the bedroom itself, very small and claustrophobic for me, bed mattresses uncomfortable as well. Place very clean and welcoming, but a bit too stretched on the actual size. We had 2 bedrooms, which was better suit as 1 bedroom.
the estate and grounds are lovely. staff are very welcoming & friendly. cottages are great value for money. will definitely stay again! only a 10min drive to the city centre/ town.
Comfortable enough. Good view Warm
Quite basic
Great location and nice interior.
No hot water in the property on arrival but quickly fixed by maintenance once informed.
Everything was great and it was a great rural area to stay in, breakfast the room the grounds, wow!!
I know that sadly this is personal taste and is unfortunate but should not in any way detract from an excellent stay - I just found the bed too hard for me sadly!
Excellent value for money. The grounds were amazing and well kept. Staff were cordial and genuinely interested in you and your well being.
My bed was a bit on the small side.
Bar staff on visits exceptional and breakfast! Chefs scones Amazing!
The view was amazing and the location of the hotel is perfect! You literally can’t get bored in there! Our favourite hotel ever!
Friendly staff who told us all about the history, we stayed in peony cottage which was lovely & clean, the grounds around the estate are beautiful, we had a full english breakfast in the conservatory with a lovely view of the grounds, short drive to Royal Tunbridge Wells with lots of great shops & restaurants, over all we had a lovely weekend.
Slow service, would have preferred buffet
It had potential to be nice.
One en-suite absolutely stunk! So awful the guest due to stay was unable to stay there. The bed also had dog hair on it. The walls were dirty. The sofa was dirty. The bedding was dirty. Needs attention before letting again.
It was very clean
Nice buffet breakfast fairly priced in sunlit conservatory with great view. Tables for four or fewer. When we needed a table for 5 they prepared one in the dining room.
Beautiful grounds. Full english breakfast. Good shower
Cold water tap trickle (washer?), mattress had large dip at head-end
The cottage that I stayed in was really nice and totally worth the price paid. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The only thing that could be improved was the response of the staff during breakfast service which was not the fastest. in addition the location was a bit remote.
