The warm welcome on arrival. We were travelling with a trailer and Jacques showed us where we could park the car and trailer The breakfast was delicious. Everything was fresh and tasty.

We recently stayed at Monte Bello Estate as a team, and the entire experience was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, the rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and well maintained, and the amenities were fantastic. Everything was thoughtfully taken care of, which made our team stay both relaxing and memorable. A huge thank you to the entire Monte Bello Estate team for the outstanding hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend the estate to anyone looking for a wonderful getaway or team venue. 10/10 — an amazing experience from start to finish!

Unser Zimmer war einfach lieblos und kalt. Sowas kennen wir nicht von Südafrika. Da wir zu viert waren, haben unsere Jungs oben geschlafen und wir unten. Oben war es warm und fürchterlich kalt. Kommentar der Rezeption: In Blomfontein ist es immer kalt. Vielleicht sollte man mal über eine Heizdecke nachdenken, wenigstens für unten.

The cleanliness, the grounds, the property looks well cared for

Shower is small, the floors are cold/ concrete, luckily has an Aircon. The room was generally small but we were comfortable. Cars parking at the walk-in gate, making it hard to walk through especially with luggage.

Breakfast was good both in-house as well as Breakfast on the go, thank you. It catered for everyone's preferences.

The timing on the shower to access hot water could be better.

Honestly was expecting a quite tranquil place located on the outskirts of town. Pity it’s a conference centre people were making a noise till late.

After a long day on the road Monte Bello Estate offered everything that we needed. A friendly welcome, a fire warming the dining room, a delicious bite to eat and a comfortable bedroom. We missed the sit down breakfast spread as we had to be on the road early the next morning, but the kitchen staff were kind enough to pack a "padkos" breakfast bag for us. We highly recommend a stay at Monte Bello and will stop there again on our travels passing Bloemfontein.

The rooms need to be updated. Very bad lighting and old furniture. Foot to room was cracked and did not seal. Does not guarantee be you a clean feeling.

Dirty concrete shower base and peeling paint in bathroom. Brown stains on curtains - not sure what it was, but definitely wasn't going to touch it. When you chose a place based on photos shown on Booking.com and what you get is completely different, there's a big problem.

The property is beautiful and full of beautiful nature! It is well kept.

The beds were too hard/firm and hurt my back. The pillows were too soft so that combination was uncomfortable.

We stayed for only one night. Luxury accommodation in a beautiful Cape Dutch setting. Nice pool to relax and unwind.

Did not have breakfast. Left early. Can't watch TV unless you sit halfway up the steps to the top level. Shower experience was terrible. Hot water lasted for a couple of seconds and then changed to ice cold water, then you have to wait again for a minute or two for water to get warm again and then the cycle repeats itself.

Pretty garden, close to highway for travelling purposes.

Excellent host who accommodated our last-minute request for supper and ensured we had a comfortable stay.

Generally a very nice place I can recommend but to my own assessment the rates are a bit steep for the value one gets. For instance, the gas geysers seem NOT to be effective and efficient in warming up the water and this may lead to the actual wasting of plenty of water - a scarce resource. In winter, a full wall to wall mat floor coverage will be better because of a very cold weather, especially for Bloemfontein.

The breakfast was well prepared and tasty, the staff very friendly and the dining room warm.

My room was very short of space for packing, everything that would normally be in drawers had to be accumulated on the dressing table which had the kettle, tray with cups & glasses etc. No place for doing work on my PC except the bed. The bathroom was also very short of any place to put anything, the bedside tables were to unstable to use for anything.

Air conditioning in room got very hot upstairs, but too cold downstairs. Rooms very cold. Also, hot water was not retained with shower and suddenly went cold. Felt accommodation at over R1000 pp per night was very expensive

The hot water geyser was impossible to regulate. The mixer tap we couldn’t use. The moment you touch the tap the water gets ice cold or very hot. Impossible to shower. We were in unit 7. Not nice bathroom.. needs a real geyser and an overall for sure. Otherwise nice stay.. maybe more floor covering like carpets as dement floors were very cold.. thanks

We recently stayed at this charming bed and breakfast and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few notable features. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to get a good night's sleep, and the room itself was warm and cosy, perfect for relaxing. The self-serve breakfast was a nice touch, offering a variety of options. The grounds were spacious, giving the place a peaceful, open feel, though I couldn’t help but feel it’s more geared towards hosting functions and weddings rather than a quiet retreat. While the open spaces and event areas are well-maintained, it meant that the overall atmosphere felt a bit more focused on large groups rather than individual guests. In short, it’s a good spot for events and large gatherings but may not offer the full experience if you're looking for a peaceful, all-in-one getaway.

A downside, however, was the lack of a bar area, which would have been a great addition for a relaxing drink after a long day. Additionally, there wasn’t much to do within the complex itself, so you’d need to venture out if you’re looking for entertainment or activities.

The tranquil clean feel just outside of town. The breakfast was outstanding and the most accommodating staff and management.

The steep staircase, and unfortunately due to massive rain the property was water logged.
