Location and absolutely friendly staff at the reception and the restaurant.

The rooms could do with additional universal plug points to charge gadgets.

Las ventanas las deberían mejorar. Nuestra habitación daba al pasillo trasero y se colaban muchos ruidos.

隔音不太好...尤其是遇到節假日深夜(24~25點的那種時間)...街頭還有人放高空煙火在歡慶! 除了大聲還會震動!! 也有別間房間門開太久的警示聲都聽得到...宿泊2晚都沒睡好(會被吵醒)

Spot on for all staffs. So welcoming and polite. Also, good location. Very close to Kimberley street where we usually had our breakfast.

1. Mosquitoes. The room had so many freaking mosquitoes!! Even though we were given the repellent, there were always at least 7-10 of them in the room, particularly bathroom n wardrobe 2. TV did not work, neither did the remote control for ceiling fan. 3. Not enough light. Windows were hard locked (except for the bathroom one). No natural sunlight at all, and not enough ventilation. 4. Pillows were too high n hard. Neck pain! 5. Aircon was freaking cold even with minimum fan level n room temp set as 28 degrees. So zero night with good sleep as our throats got dried out

Pour trouver un point à améliorer … Chambres peu insonorisées, on est en ville et près d’une mosquée . Mais l’hôtel nous prévient par un petit message dans la chambre. Avec des bouchons d’oreilles, le problème est réglé et tous les autres points positifs prennent le dessus .

La situation, l’accueil et le service du personnel, le cadre typique et soigné de l’hôtel font d’Areca un étape de charme.

Une mosquée est à proximité, il faut donc avoir conscience qu il y a l appel à la prière des 6h.

Soggiorno molto piacevole Lo staff è stato davvero pronto e disponibile per ogni esigenza. La camera era confortevole e tutto al suo interno era perfettamente funzionante. La posizione è leggermente decentrata, ma George Town è un po' tutta così, quindi ci si sposta comunque facilmente. Struttura consigliata!

Perfect location on a quiet street near bustling part of georgetown. Staff were friendly and professional. Lift available even if it wasnt the fastest. Rooms were comfortable. Just didnt understand why herotage rooms are huge gigantic.

Door lock didn't work for my first room and i got changed to another room for my second night but there wasn't hot water. Not an issue since weather is hot now. Regardless, hotel offers great value and i would stay here all over again. Soundproofing seemed ok until I realised who is staying upstairs has a great impact. I could hear a lot of thumping sound when in another room. Not sure if someone was playing catch or kids were bouncing off floors.

Sehr schön im Kolonialstil eingerichtetes Hotel. Das Familienzimmer glich eher einer Suite und war gemessen an der Lage mitten in der Altstadt günstig und auch nicht laut. Kleines, stilvolles Extra ist der 3 Uhr Tee (kostenlos mit Gebäck).

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Areca. The property is gorgeous and rooms equally lovely and comfortable. Rooms cleaned daily - thank you. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel in excellent location - walking distance to loads of the sights and places to eat.

Erg goed verblijf in Penang. Je wordt netjes ontvangen in de receptie met een welkomsdrankje. alles wordt netjes uitgelegd en je krijg je bonnen voor de afternoon tea. Dit is erg fijn, je kunt einde van de middag van 3 tot 5 gebruik maken hiervan. klein hapje en een drankje. Hier kom je even op adem en keert de rust terug. Kamer zag er goed netjes en onderhouden uit. Als je opzoek bent naar schattig en knus hotel is dit het hotel wat je moet hebben. Ruime kamer en badkamer. Douche is goed met harde straal

I loved this hotel. A great location in George Town. Close to the action, but still in a quiet area. Very helpful staff. Very comfortable room with a refrigerator, fan and AC. Eco-friendly. A good buffet style breakfast for 30 RM, and a complimentary afternoon tea. The cleaning staff were like ninjas. I left for 10 minutes and by the time I came back they’d completely remade the room!

Classic older style building, which had been nicely restored.enjoyed the open central courtyard/ light well, the complimentary afternoon teat was a great touch, helped break up the day of sightseeing and give us a chance to sit down and relax.

Pity that the air conditioning in the rooms was tied to your room key, so when returning on a hot afternoon or evening it took a while for the rooms to cool back down.

We booked the ground floor heritage room, which was airy and expansive. Each of these rooms is an old shopfront and they are deep and high-ceilinged with acres of space for relaxing. A small outdoor section in the covered atrium was a cute extra and the whole feeling of the hotel was conducive to relaxtation. It's only a short distance from the heritage area of George Town so it's easy to walk to and from there. Breakfast had enough variety to keep everyone satisfied, and there is a complimentary afternoon tea that we used once. Cold water in the foyer to refresh you when you return from a hard day's touristing was a nice touch. Beds were comfy, and bathroom well maintained and spacious. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I'd come again.

Some noise from the street at night, but only occasionally and not enough to make you lose sleep. Complimentary earplugs are available from the front desk if this, or the morning call-to-prayer, is an issue for you.

Super friendly staff. Lovely - and good sized - clean rooms and comfy beds in a building that had lots of character. The breakfast was really good with lots of variety. No water filter, but a couple of bottles of water were provided every day in the room, and iced water was available in reception at all times.

Precioso hotel en edificio colonial rehabilitado, con excelente ubicación que te permite visitar el casco histórico andando. Habitaciones tipo vintage pero confortables. El aparcamiento es en la vía pública pero es muy barato y suele haber sitio, te facilitan el pago en la recepción.

El café debería mejorar, es de tipo filtrado y está hecho en jarras. Claramente mejorable para el desayuno que ofrece.

Excellent location and a wonderful hotel. The building is historic, but the rooms and facilities are modern and well maintained. The hotel is quiet and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the afternoon tea, the strong shower, and the air conditioning, which was effective without being uncomfortable. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The hotel felt like a home away from home. A great place for both a short visit and a longer stay. I would happily stay here again.

Heritage style

Fantastic hotel that was easily walkable to everything you’d want to see in George Town. The staff were super friendly and really helpful - particularly the restaurant staff. The breakfast was fantastic with a buffet on busy days and a menu choice on less busy days. We loved our stay here and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel; the property was great, the location was close to the heart in Penang. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and eager to help whenever they could. Breakfast was very good and would recommend that all visitors sign up for that. Rooms were clean and just the right size. We were glad we choice this property & would recommend it 100%.

We had a problem with the Air Conditioner on the first night, it didn't cool the room off at all. But the Staff moved us to another room and solved that problem. They were very tentative to our needs & concerns.

Really beautiful restored hotel close to the old historic part of George Town. Easy walk to cafes, sights, shops. Staff were great, and rooms serviced daily.

The building was noisy, and sounds from other guests rooms echoed throughout the building disturbing my sleep.

Good location close to Kimberley Street and walkable down to see all the street art. Staff were friendly. Plenty of nice eateries within walking distance.

Hotel is close to a mosque so you will get woken by prayer call. The rooms are not that soundproof and also let a lot of light in, especially at the top of the wall out towards the corridor as it is not fully sealed.

The Hotel is a beautifully renovated group of colonial buildings and exuded charm & warmth. Full of character. The room was spacious and well appointed. Daily breakfast was substantial and our greeting was always met with a smile. A special mention of Yahfiz. Truly delightful. The daily afternoon tea was an unexpected treat.

A lot of shops and eateries around the hotel, but crossing the road is quite challenging. Anyway, that’s the case for all the roads in Penang.

This is a nice boutique style hotel in Georgetown. Staff is very nice and willing to help you understand the area. Room is clean. They have tea time midday where they provide tea coffee snacks and ice cream.

Elevator is slow but you can take the stairs. Rooms are small but maybe that is expected for rooms in downtown areas. There is some construction noise but they are willing to provide ear plugs

A beautiful hotel conveniently located right in the middle of Georgetown. It had a nice historical feel to it, but was balanced out with some chic and modern touches. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfy. There was an AC, as well as a ceiling fan - perfect for a long day out in the extreme heat! The staff were very kind and hospitable (plus being welcomed everyday by the beautiful scent of the lobby was a bonus)

The room lacked some natural light. Didn't help that the furniture was all dark-coloured too. However, this is just personal preference here - there was nothing wrong with the room.

Very comfortable beds in a lovely loft space room. High ceilings with roof fan and air conditioning creating the perfect temperature in a hot and humid country. Would stay again.

staff were very accomodating; we only stayed the one night and they ensured that we had breakfast (in a box) as we left very early. It was very much appreciated! We also really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Our only slight challenge was that the room was warm; otherwise we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
