Grainger Apartments

The location was handy for GNR with a bus stop a 2 min walk away to get to the centre of Newcastle. The room was spacious and clean. The staff where very friendly and helpful.

There was a wardrobe but no rail to hang clothes in. There was also no iron or hairdryer in the room even though it said on booking these where available. I did bring this to the attention of the receptionist who managed to get hold of those for our second night stay. The windows did not block out the outside noise and with temporary traffic lights right outside of ours it did effect sleep i may as well have slept with the windows open it was that loud.

Bed was comfortable enough

Front door glass smashed, lift out of order, given wrong room to begin with (twin instead of double) and spare bed for daughter was broken with sharp edges and unsafe, and had no bedding and not made up. Moved into second room, spare bed was not made up but in one piece then made up by staff, and large pillows ripped. Massive weird possible sick/hot chocolate looking stain that was left to soak into the carpet rather than be cleaned. Bedding frame material all ripped along the edges, carpet ripped under side table and rippled throughout the floor. Bathroom sink plug wasn’t attached like it should be but also missing the O ring to seal for a wash so didn’t hold water. Tv aerial was awful, no signal, maybe a blip of a screen then off again, completely unwatchable. Kitchenette cupboards were heavily damaged and didn’t close properly, tap inside was loose. Window safety lock wires broken/detached on windows in both rooms.

There is nothing to like at the hotel

Everything. Entrance shattered. Elevator not working. (see pictures attached as evidence). I had to use the narrow stairs up 2 flights with heavy luggage and no help. Shower drain had water there already and was smelling and seemed like it wouldn’t drain. Stains on carpets and as if the room wasn't clean after the previous guest left. The room was dusty and smelly. The toilet was dirty and leaking water.

All the facilities for the price are incredible. You get a microwave, a fridge, plates, and other things, which is a big help. The toilet is excellent given the facilities. You can find similar hotel matched with this price but you can't find the same comfort and facilities. I would suggest people book here for short stays.

There is nothing to like at the hotel

Everything. The elevator was faulty I had to carry my luggage two flights up. The room was dusty and smelly. The toilet was dirty and leaking water. The shower head was broken. Stains on the carpet

Decent size room! Was fine for the 1 night.

There was no tv remote in the room but it didn't really bother us. The road was quite noisey tho being next to a main road which had on going roadworks! It was difficult to get in and out. 1 of the windows didn't shut properly either.

There was nothing to like.

On a hot summers day, they do not provide a fan. If there is no air conditions, I would at least expect a fan. The lifts does not work. I had to carry my bags up to the second floor. The staff should have offered help when the lift is not working. Walking up the stairs, the railings fell apart as I held on to it. Very bad place. I would not recommend at all.

It was on a bus route

Not the best place to stay Unfortunately, our stay was far from ideal. It took us around 16 minutes just to find the receptionist to check in. When we finally reached the apartment, the security door was broken and couldn’t be locked, and the lift wasn’t working. The apartment itself was clean enough, but the furniture was very tired and definitely needs replacing. We were also directly above a restaurant and its bins, which made it very noisy, along with noise from other guests. The biggest issue was the shower. There was no cold water at all and the water was scalding hot, so we couldn’t use it safely. We tried calling to report the problem, but unfortunately nobody answered. Overall, there were far too many issues for a comfortable stay and, sadly, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again. You could also spend the same money and find something a lot better.

Hard to say

It was so loud, no lamps only full 20 build ceiling lights could be turned on, no hot water no internet. I complained and they assured me of a refund and I haven't received my refund at all.

The room was big and spacious. Location with a straight bus to town which I needed.

The carpet was very dirty and sticky Showroom needs fixing People smoking on the premises make it very difficult to sleep if ur asthmatic.

Heating would not go off 26 degrees outside and heating full blast at 23.30 at night, contacted reception for help he was flummoxed called someone who just laughed down the phone and said there was nothing he could do and made to leave offered nothing! I asked for a fan as was so hot made me unwell he did get this but only at my insistence. This place was dangerous. The drain in shower smelled and did not look clean wouldn't use. Only one little open bin which made the room smell.

The room was comfy and spacious. The response to changes was apt as well. I am happy to stay again next time.

The room was hotter than Egypt , windows didn't open , a TV with no remote, WiFi...non existent! Holes in the wall, if you value your sleep go elsewhere as the 2am alarm call from the noisy rooms next to us drunk and shouting and screaming until 4 , told them we were arriving about 1pm only to get messages at 1234 asking we are still coming or they will cancel our room ....only wish they had done would have got more sleep in my car

Would not recommend this hotel. I had to change rooms three times during my stay. In the first room, the shower was hanging off the wall and completely out of its fitting. When I reported it, I was told it was “fine” and wouldn’t fall off, which was concerning. The second room was clearly not properly cleaned. There was a white residue on surfaces that wiped away easily, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned properly. There was also a can of spaghetti hoops left on top of the cupboard that had clearly been there for some time, and red stains on the quilt, which was unacceptable. I was then moved to a third room, which was fine, but there were still issues with service. There was only one small towel provided initially, and I had to request additional towels multiple times, ultimately waiting over an hour for them to arrive. I was also asked to pay a £20 cash deposit for the room key, which was not mentioned anywhere during the booking process. Overall, for the price paid, the experience was very disappointing. I would have expected a much higher standard and would not stay here again.

Bed was comfy and the shower was really nice, plenty of room and the kitchen was really handy

Poor maintinance, sockets were coming out of the wall, the window stopper kept coming out, the small shower head had its hose sheithing coming off and the bathroom sink had no drain cover, the lightd were all wired to one switch, while having 2 dud switches, and some of the bulbs were out

I like everything about my state I would recommend it to anybody clean and hardly lovely friendly staff and would do anything too well

I love the layout of the apartments.

No working lift again, sink in bathroom was blocked. Bed and pillows were very hard.

I always went for work , this time I went with family they gave me Family room with city view and it was worth it.

The location is good and there’s parking

The rooms online look nicer than the place actually is. The apartment was dirty with stains all over the carpet. We booked a double room but it was two beds pushed together. When we arrived the window was left open so it was absolutely Baltic in the room. And don’t even get me started on the state of the ironing board!

Bed was comfy but wasn’t a double was 2 single beds pushed together. Fire tv was great an WiFi was good. Wasn’t far from Newcastle city centre. Would stay again. Plenty shops and takeaways within walking distance.

No city views as advertised. Shower was hanging off the wall and water wasn’t hot until our last day so was having warmish showers which felt freezing. Would stay again though.

Another cup, teaspoons, knife, glass. Dirty carpet. The shower was broken. The bed was cold. No extra blankets. Holes in the walls. Girls screaming running to their rooms at 2am. Could hear a child crying in the next room.

Absolutley riddled with dust and mites 1 stay and I’m scarred for life never ever stay here you’ll be disappointed it’s absolutley filthy rotten sick was blocked because it was full of toilet roll Shower rails and glass doesn’t get wiped down Lights don’t work If you stay with a partner I expect a proper bed not 2 singles pushed together like wow I’m so disgusted working at the Hampton by Hilton royal station and more this shouldn’t be aloud to be open or at least have trading standards out to deem to property healthy as I’m riddled with a cold today not a good STAY now refused to refund so now I will contact bank with video evidence and photos to show them this company are scamming guests out of money.
