The Oakwheel

We fully enjoyed our stay here. We will return. Breakfast is fantastic. We walked down the road down to the coast and we discovered a beautiful small cove. It is well signposted and walking is easy but there's a few steps down onto the pebbly beach - it's worth a view though.

The breakfasts here were exceptional and the staff were always friendly and very helpful. There was plenty of free parking and the room was adequate for a four night stay and the newly added walk in shower was a bonus.

Everything from the minute we walked in. Very welcoming staff. The food menu. The size of the room. And then finally the cooked breakfast...

The only negative was the lack of coffee in the room, only 1 coffee pod. In a room with 2 adults staying in.

Location. Nice and quiet but easy access to Scarborough. The room was nice and clean.

The breakfast was delicious. The room was large and the beds were comfortable. It was just a 10 minute bus ride into Scarborough.

Clean, comfortable room with plenty of storage space for clothes. Plenty of car parking space. Had a well cooked and very tasty evening meal and a very nice cooked breakfast. Popular pub with 3 real ales on tap. Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Although the room was very clean, we stayed in room 5 (twin room) and some parts of the decor and bathroom were tired. It would benefit from a refurb.

The bed was exceptional and we had a great night sleep. Evening meal was also very good as was breakfast. Staff were very friendly and the bar was well run.

The room is lovely and big , the bed is super comfy and the shower is amazing , never want to get out of bed or shower when I stay here, all the staff especially the owners are just lovely and cannot do enough for you ! The food is just delicious too !! I won’t stay anywhere else when in Scarborough.

Great place just outside Scarborough. Went for a concert. The girls serving were wonderful and the girl who did breakfast.

A kettle in the room would be nice and a light by dressing table and mirror as a bit dark. But light in bathroom ok for make-up.

Just off a busy main road so nice and quiet. Food good. Room clean , spacious bathroom.

This is not a fault off the Oakwheel but the bus service into Scarborough was a bit erratic (we waited 1 hour for a bus) on one morning.

We liked everything, room was excellent(we had the superior room) , freshly decorated, bed was super comfy. Food in the evening was fresh and the atmosphere was friendly. As for the Gin Menu, a lovely surprise and will have to come back to try some more!

The location was in a lovely village just outside Scarborough. We got a taxi into Scarborough which cost £12. The breakfast was delicious

Comfortable bed, nice food, very good garden area.

Very expensive for what it is to be honest. I’ve stayed in much better accommodation for a lot less. Trainee staff serving us our evening meal and then staff training taking place on the table next to us whilst we were eating. Was also overcharged on bill but I checked it and staff refunded when I informed them.

Ease of parking. Just a short bus ride into Scarborough. Nothing any bother to the friendly Staff

Lovely little country pub with a beer garden. Food was amazing and room was lovely. Staff were so helpful and friendly!

We had a front room which faces out onto the road, if you are a light sleeper you can hear the traffic.

It was very warm and welcoming, everything you needed for a comfortable night.

The bed was so comfy! The pillows were better than mine at home! It was lovely and spacious. Staff were so lovely and friendly. The room had everything we needed! It was fresh, clean and comfortable. The temperature was great in the room. The breakfast was Absolutley fantastic and the woman who served us was so friendly! Best place we have stayed in a long time! We are Absolutley booking again when we are visiting Scarbrough next! Such a wonderful little pub x

Staff extremely efficient on arrival and throughout our stay. Room was a good size and spotless.

Could maybe have had a fan in the room for the June heatwave. Room overlooked the main through road, so quite a bit of traffic noise if the window was left open.

Breakfast included was great ,lots of choices,nice location outside Scarborough ,easy to reach Scarborough and robin hoods bay / Whitby.

Poor ventilation in room , extremely hot weekend

Our room ( 4 ) was lovely - newly decorated & extremely comfortable. Exceptionable value for money.

Could have done with a small shelf in the bathroom to place toothbrushes , shower gel & shaving items. The room was newly refurbished so perhaps it was still waiting to be put in place. Additionally - with the extreme temps whilst we were there a fan in the room would have made it more comfortable for sleeping. Not a criticism though - extreme temps are rare so fans would normally not be needed.

Need to address the flies in the restaurant for all meals, sees worse at breakfast. Need to install fly zappers asap. Will still return as we feel comfortable here.

Lovely old fashioned pub with great menu and the staff are very friendly. The room was spotless and comfy . There was some minor road noise , and not being able to have breakfast before 830 was disappointing, but overall a good choice.

Breakfast was considerably better than most hotels, even ones costing far more. They use very good food a d drink providers. In particular the coffee was the best I remember in a hotel.

Staff friendly and helpful. Room nicely decorated, comfortable bed, bathroom clean with bath and shower. Meals nice and tasty. Plenty of off road parking

Poached eggs not runny but probably our fault for not asking. Stairs are steep, just worth noting if you struggle with stairs, but there was a downstairs bedroom.

The bar staff were helpful

The manager or owner reprimanded the chef in the bar area we heard the whole conversation so unprofessional. The bed was absolutely awful cheep poor quality needs replacing immediately i had no sleep at all, the I had a 4hour drive back home after no sleep.

Good food, good room, helpful staff and in a good location

Our double room was comfortable but compact. It had all we required for our overnight stay. The full English breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed delicious, substantially portioned starters and mains made with local produce in the evening. The Timothy Taylors ale was excellent. The staff are friendly, attentive, and efficient. There is ample free parking on the Oak Wheel site. The Oak Wheel is a short drive north of Scarborough. Ideally situated to explore the local area.

The room was comfortable, clean and quiet and reasonably priced. Dinner was very good and very substantial which was needed after a long days walking. The staff were friendly and service was good.

Needed a room very last minute, so this ticked that box.

I was using the pub as I was working locally and had early starts. So Saturday nights entertainment in the pub albeit sounded great, it didn't help with my sleep.

The bed was uncomfortable so I didn't have a good sleep, the door was difficult to lock and the floor was squeaky when you walked on it.

Lovely staff: brilliant location on doorstep of North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast; great pub in the evening; room had all the necessities; parking included.

Mattress very soft for our liking, but appreciate others would like it

The room was lovely and clean, toasty warm and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with lots to choose from, the quality of the food was superb. We had an evening meal which was delicious, the food portions are very generous. The staff are very welcoming and friendly.

Easy to find.. good parking.. easy check in, clean tidy room, great selection for breakfast, cooked just how i liked it.. separate entrance to facilitate coming back from days adventures after closing hours and the best part of the stay was great friendly staff, very easy to chat to. I would come again.
