The Riverhouse

My girlfriend and I are in a long distance relationship, we have anxiety and the whole just use a pin and come in was so much easier. We spent most the time in the room just watching TV, didn't get any hassle for being in the room all day either Created some beautiful memories. I really appreciate the stay we had, been more than once already :)

We closed the window at night and couldn't open it after, was a hot day and had no key. Was too anxious to contact staff. Not really a problem with the hotel, more so wishing a key was in the room maybe just incase because it was quite hot and worse outside :)

Perhaps set up breakfast before noted breakfast time when everyone is muddling around the small kitchen.

Breakfast was help yourself which I preferred, I particularly enjoyed having ice on tap which was an added bonus with the weather being so hot.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about the accommodation, something that was just very different from home was the distance to the toilet from our room, but that was something that we got used to.

Maison bien située, très confortable, très propre et bien organisée. Petit déjeuner complet. Cuisine commune et espaces de repas intérieur et extérieur très bien. Every thing was perfect !

Only location, because of teddy swims concert, it was close

Everything was bad. I knew about size of the room of course, it didnt bother me, and the price because of concert was enormous high, and i paid this, and i expected absolutely clean room, with fresh linen and towel, clean floor, clean window- everything should be clean! Dead mosquitoes were everywhere, someone’s hair too. When i asked to change my bed( because it looked like someone already laid there) manager told me that it is fine, lol. For example, for this price i can go to Marriott for one night with spa and breakfast including! I had breakfast but i didnt go there, because if the room disguising obviously the kitchen too. I slept in my clothes. No air conditioning or fan too. My big advice to go to the course: how to run business in hospitality and hotels for all managers and service. I am an owner too, i am in shock how it is possible. Thank God it worth in only because of Teddy Swims concert!

Easy access, good communication by the host. Great location for the events in Principality Stadium. 5 min walk to Stadium. Room was clean, Wi-fi connection was strong. Breakfast was good enough for starting the day. Toilets and showers were shared but were clean and supplied all the time. 7 min walk to Cardiff Central train station. You can walk to Cardiff Castle, there are restaurants, cafes, pubs close by. Sopping Centre in walking distance. Enjoyed Cardiff and our stay.

It was clean and well managed. Easy check in, really good communication before and during our stay, especially helpful for parking. Crisp sheets and towels, hot showers, good bathroom. Great location.

Our best stay in "budget" Wales, by far. The room was larger than expected. The shared bathrooms were well maintained with a good shower. Breakfast was amazing. Every morning there was assorted pastries, banana nut bread, yoghurt with berries, assorted cereals, oatmeal, juices, milk, and coffee. The Jura coffee machine was a bonus! Location wise, Wow! In the heart of Cardiff, a short walking distance to Cardiff castle, the train station and Principality stadium. You are allowed to cook in the kitchen and use the refrigerator to store your food and stove to cook your food. We took advantage of this and saved a lot of money. I really liked that they had a separate cupboard which had common spices, salt and other condiments to use(very thoughtful of the owners) They have a dining area also to sit and enjoy your food, read a book, or chat with other guests. Recommended!

Overall a lovely stay. Positives: Room was fairly spacious. They allowed us to drop our bags before check-in. Location is good, close to train, castle, city center, and busses. Good options for breakfast (to prepare provided ingredients on your own). Lovely espresso machine in the morning. Kitchen, dining room, and patio access throughout day. Easy communication through messaging. Negatives: River facing room was loud at night. No fans, so room was stuffy when closing windows due to noise in order to sleep. Bathroom was half floor off from the bedroom.

Its clean and comfortable. Also Charlie is a fab host!

Would have liked a small tea/coffee tray. As a senior and a dsylexic . I think I needed a different video about the entrance and key hub issue. A bit slower and very specific...at each step...I think the slide door down needed a lot of strength for me. Which meant that I questioned the line of numbers... eg., numbers align at the middle so there is a row above and below. Just say a disabled vidoe....that starts at the entrance perhaps.

check in was very easy, its very clean room and bathrooms clean. Breakfast is self service which was a bit hectic with other people in the kitchen as you have cook your own eggs and wash pan and pots up, we had a room on the back, the noise all night from a gentleman that lives in the house at the back was unbelievable all night coughing in his garden and talking on his phone till 4am it was impossible to sleep. The area to the back of the hotel is not very nice. Due to this situation i will not return

It was clean and quiet and reasonably priced. It was nice that kitchen facilities were available.

We didn't realize we were staying in contactless lodging. The toilets and showers were half a flight downstairs. We paid for breakfast for 2 days, but were unable to have it the first day since we had to leave early for a tour, and breakfast was not available until 7:30. We would have realized this if we read ALL of the fine print. The room was rather crowded because it had a full sized bed and 2 twin sized beds.

The location was great, easy walking distance from public transport and the central Cardiff area, but also quiet at night. Breakfast was a nice perk and the room was lovely. Easy self check in process. Although the bathrooms are "shared" there are private stalls for toilet/shower so I appreciated that as well. Price was an amazing value. Hosts very responsive over messaging when I had a question. As a solo female traveller security is very important and I felt very safe and comfortable here.

I did pay for breakfast both days but left early and couldn't take advantage of it - not the fault of the B&B but you can book breakfast upon arrival so I would best do that if you have similar plans.

All the usual things. Abi and Charlie have been doing this a while and have made things better over the years. Several years ago my only critique was the cold showers at night, but that's been sorted.

Just the busy area and how noisy people are at night. Unfortunately, some of the guests that week were night owls and just kept running around the corridors and in their rooms until 1am. Also, that guy, Mr Coughy McCougherson. He's been hacking and coughing his guts out for nearly 10 plus years by now. You'd think that guy is on his last legs but I think he'll be hocking and wheezing all the way until 2075, outlasting us all.

Easy check in. Nice and quiet. Landlords very helpful. No complaints had a lovely weekend. Thank you Abi/Charlie. Regards Peter

Riverhouse was great for my stay in Cardiff. The room was pretty big, comfy bed, and the kitchen with the living room were amazing. You're close to the city center and the train station, which is actually pretty cool as well. I'd definitely come back!

Having a laundry service, even if it's paid, would have been great. But not a big deal.

Its different to the riverhouse backpackers hostel pre-covid, but still has the same overall decor. I usually go to cardiff for work so the TV in the room was qn extra unexpected luxury. Also, Abi and Charlie dealt with obnoxious guests within hours. Super impressive

Good location, and grateful that it was available at such short notice. Good clean communal area and kitchen downstairs. The toilet/showers were shared but extremely clean, and there was someone to clean the bathroom as soon as I had come out.

Lack of obvious alternative means of fire escape. Such a property ought to have much better facilities for evacuation, especially when you are near the top.

La posizione è perfetta, a due passi dal centro storico, facilmente raggiungibile e poco trafficata (garantendo la sera quiete e silenzio). La struttura è accogliente e pulitissima, mentre le camere sono spaziose e dotate di tutto ciò che occorre (da apprezzare inoltre il letto comodossimo e la cucina sempre disponibile all'uso). Il personale è stato sempre gentile e super disponibile, davvero un magnifico soggiorno!

The accommodation was very clean. It is also very close to central Cardiff and the stadium. The area in the other direction a bit dodgy though! Room was comfortable and it was excellent to have Netflix and Disney available and in many different languages. Check in and out extremely easy. Breakfast was good. The only downside for me was I was unaware how many stairs there would be and they were narrow. If I knew this previously I would have requested a ground floor room or somewhere else.Also, whilst I did not have any trouble with the parking as I have a blue badge, it is quite difficult - in Cardiff as a whole! There are bays opposite but be careful as there were a lot of wardens in the street…especially Sunday morning when there is a lovely food market at the other end of the street. Overall, a really lovely place to stay especially for shared bathroom accommodation.

The location was brilliant

Ending breakfast at 9.30, we were shattered and needed a lie in bed but had to wake up for breakfast. I don't see why it can't be much later when you have to cook it yourself. And check in time being so late also created a big issue for us because we had to park so far away (27 minute walk) it meant after spending all day in the city we had to walk for an hour to the car and back to retrieve our luggage. As there's no parking you should either have drop off facilities for luggage or a much earlier check in time.

Great location, cheap and clean place to stay for those just wanting a room.

Only downside was the heating in the room which was boiling hot throughout with no way of turning it down and only a small tilt window for air into the room.

Room too small, I definitely not recommended if you travel gorup more than 2... 2 just fine... And if you want the room comes with a bathroom this one won't be you choice... Plus the shower is fixed, very unconvenience for ppl who has long hair and doesn't wanna it get wet while showing

It was amazing staying here. Staff was very nice and location was great very close to the Cardiff town centre. Everything was very clean and tidy.

The coziness of it ! And let’s not forget the location. And I even got a river view from my window! Also they have all the streamers available to watch in different languages

The fact that when you come out of the shower there’s no towels to put on the floor, so since is a shared bathroom it gets kinda messy

This was a lovely little place-well lived and looked after. The kitchen and dining room facilities are outstanding. I parked in the Castle Mews car park and walked about 10 mins around to the accommodation.

Room was a little on the small side for the 3 of us. And no parking for cars.

L’emplacement est le seul point fort de l’établissement qui est situé à proximité du centre ville, du stade et de la gare.

Tout le reste ! La chambre était trop petite pour 3 personnes, il était impossible de circuler. Le manque d’équipement minimum dans une chambre: une sèche cheveux, une bouilloire avec du thé et du café, une seule serviette par personne pour le séjour qui de 3 sont passés à 2 le dernier jour et personne à qui demander. Pour finir, le manque de propreté dans les sanitaires.
