Lovely hotel very welcoming to us and our 3;dogs Great food
Amazing stay. Very chilled hotel. Breakfast service was personal, friendly and food was lovely. Housekeeping staff are amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and our room was cleaned top to bottom every day. The games room is brilliant on rainy days and location is stunning. Felt right at home.
Beautiful location in the Ribble Valley. Hotel nicely seperated from pub/restaurant area but all in the same building. Great food in the restaurant. If the weather is good, there are some nice walks leaving from the restaurant. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely stay. Great if you have dogs. Only thing which let it down a bit was breakfast service which was poor. Not enough staff servicing breakfast and our order was incorrect and ran out of some things. Otherwise a lovely stay and would return.
The room was nice. Clean. Comfortable. The food was overpriced. Although breakfast was good.
Lovely village location, great food and service bed comfy and room clean. Shower need’s updating
Totally enjoyed it from start to finish. Comfy bed, lovely view from room 17. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was spot on, as were the evening meals. Lovely part of the country with plenty of walks.
Lovely room clean and tidy friendly helpful staff . Then best steak and ale pie we have had Only thing was poached eggs on both days where overcookrd at breakfast . We would stay again
Stayed for 2 nights for a wedding we was attending in the area, the hotel was absolutely amazing .. the staff went over and above and the food was amazing
It was okay a nice clean well appointed room no complaints.
The bathroom was clean but tiny and no room to put my washbag. The stairs up to room 20 are soooo steep and 3 floors up.Found it difficult to get up with my suitcase and I am 78 years old and no help was offered. I did not sleep from 1.00am unto 4.00am as someone was either smoking or vaping in their room and set off the fire alarm. I was disappointed as I have stayed several times before.
Very good all round service cleanliness and attention to detail.
The hotel was clean and welcoming. The food was good and room comfortable.
Lovely comfortable room, great decor, good food and friendly staff.
Amazing location views stunning
Worth to re-visit.
Accommodation very clean, the staff very welcoming
As always, lovely hospitality, great room and fantastic food. Great walks nearby and Clitheroe 10 mins down the road. We will be back.
Do not recommend this Shireburn, I booked and wanted to change the date to January instead of Dec. They would NOT change it when they had my money!!! Terrible service . excuse I hadn’t booked direct with them, They kept my money!!!! Shameful and disgraceful. Robbers !
We have stayed at other hotels, and we all agree that our experience was wonderful. The staff were so helpful and the food was excellent. Our room was very comfortable. We look forward to visiting again.
Lovely hotel staff very accommodating felt cozy and warm
Great walks and a wonderful school nearby.
I have stayed here on several occasions due to work. It is always a pleasure. The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and comfy room, and excellent food and ales.
Better than expected considering extremely good value. Food nice, decor and atmosphere pretty good - music a bit cheesy and some of the furniture a bit random and out of keeping with traditionalish inn (eg wicker chairs) but generally very good.
Clean & staff friendly. Food good
Will not stay here again. Difficult stairs to room, shower had mould around the grouting and shower tray, no hot water in shower on days two. Room was not offered to be serviced until 3pm by which time my husband needed to rest so we were simply give towels.
Lovely stay. Comfortable beds and beautifull room. Nice breakfast options too. Nice polite and helpful staff.
The food was really good and plentiful. The beds and bedlinen was clean. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom left a lot to be desired.
Great stay, friendly staff, big room & great food.
Very quirky and homely period property. Lovely bedroom with good facilities. Had a great evening meal with attentive personal service from staff. Warm friendly atmosphere inside the pub. Stunning backdrop with great access to the surrounding countryside. I would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone to stay over here.
What a fantastic wedding party stay❤️ A lovely breakfast the morning after. Full credit to all staff involved especially Daisy for making us comfortable at breakfast
Lovely one-night stay in a welcoming hotel in lovely surroundings. Staff and service superb.
Lovely staff, great hotel
Beautiful location with wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding hills. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and clean. It looked like it had recently been refurbished as it was in excellent condition. The choice of food at dinner was reasonably priced and of a very high standard. The breakfast was filling and delicious. They have a first class games room which is spacious and has numerous activities available including pool, darts and table football. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
First visit and unfortunately not very good. Location and food was great. Housekeeping wasn’t good as bedroom very dusty and even after complaining it wasn’t delt with. The whole place needs some TLC
Excellent. Room bit warm and difficult to open window
Great rooms , wonderful food and ample parking.
I have stayed here many times, a great place with clean, comfy rooms, and great food and ales.
Fantastic stay. Great location, very helpful staff, dog friendly, great food, extremely clean, large room. Nothing bad to say.
Great place
The hotel room was £130 for one night. From previous reviews I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the overnight did not live up to expectations. The room itself is quite nice, we were in the Tolkien suite with a view over the country. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The room is a good size with plenty of room. However, it wasn’t clean. The shower head was covered in dust, dust on top of the bed posts etc. Generally felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned in a while and was just sat for a few weeks. Unfortunately I can’t speak for the entirely of the hotel as we didn’t really engage with it. This was due to some weird and off putting smells around the property. I’m from the country, I’m used to the smell of manure etc. but the dinning area, bar and hall ways just smelt horrible. It was very off putting, so much so we didn’t go down for breakfast as we were put off eating. Staff were friendly, which makes it even more of a shame that the experience wasn’t enjoyable. This hotel is not disability accessible, lots of tight corridors and steps. The rooms are up two sets of stairs, through a small door at the back of the hotel. Rooms locks are quite high up so difficult to reach. For the price we paid this was not worth it. I wouldn’t stay here again.
We stayed for a night after a wedding we attended at the Shireburn and had a lovely time. The beds were really comfy, the room was spacious and decorated nicely and breakfast was good in the morning. We were in a room on the front close to the road and it was a little bit noisy, around 7am there was a big truck that sounded like it was parked right outside our window making a really loud noise for about half an hour. Apart from the noise everything else was really nice and the actual venue for the wedding is gorgeous with stunning scenery and gardens
Everything was delightful. Comfortable and clean bedroom, bathroom.Evening meal delicious, staff helpful and pleasant. Beautiful surroundings to view from the terrace
Oh, what a perfect country pub. The room was fabulous (and smelled delightful).
Great place. Loved our suite
Wonderful hotel with great value. Need extra arm support for stairs leading to dining area from room 3. Great updated rooms
Nice enough room but noisy location. Food was just about ok. Staff lovely. The biggest issue was being a solo traveller when a wedding was going on in the function room. What I had expected to be a cosy night by the fire in the pub with a good book and a nice meal was entirely ruined by the booming music which dominated the entire pub every time anyone opened the doors from the function room. My advice would be to avoid if there is a big function going on as the pub loses it's charm.
Lovely, hotel with a beautiful view. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Really was a lovely stay, the food was also delicious
This Hotel will exceed your expectations!! It is fantastic at every level!!
what a lovely place to stay. proper country pub in a beautiful area, very dog friendly. our dog was very vocal in the bar area at times. we did not feel like aliens. the breakfast was very good. .the real fires were lit and so relaxing. i can understand why the hotel is so popular
Nice hotel, pretty comfortable with good food choices. Sadly my TV remote didn't work and no spare or repair was available. Not the warmest room ever, but it is an old building.
Nice breakfast, friendly staff, country retreat, pleasant rooms, quirky and cosy.
Fabulous pub, lovely rooms, helpful friendly staff, great evening meal, and fantastic breakfast, all in all a great stay at this 300 year old inn.
Traditional English pub. Large comfortable room and modern en suite. Difficult to regulate heat and window wouldn’t open in bedroom. No armchair for comfort. Breakfast chaotic. Not enough staff on to explain the system or cope with service. Staff very hard working but checkout was embarrassing as the check in staff hadn't recognised we paid up front. All sorted amicably but then confusion over bar bill.
A lovely place to stay, with nice food and extremely friendly and helpful staff
Oliver and the team made our stay really special . Lots of character to this place and the food is out of this world ! So lucky to have such a talented chef here . Thanks everyone
A lovely place to stay. An old building that has been sensitively brought up-to-date. Service in the bar and restaurant was somewhat inconsistent but all done with a down to earth charm. Our room was great
In style of coaching house. Nice place. Room decent size and good sized bathroom. Nice and clean. Food good both at dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. Good value
Keep going back there as very impressed
Great place to stay
Lovely stay, great staff and very good dinner. Our room was clean and comfortable and it was good to stay in a hotel with its own ambience and character. Set in beautiful countryside with great walks on the doorstep.
Not sure whats happened, stayed here several times over the past 12mths. Last visit was poor. Think there has been a management change...Food was average and breakfast service was shocking. Wont be back.
Stayed as we was at a wedding a mile down the road, hotel.room was ok..a bit old fashioned and the bed was far too high for my short legs butbwas a nice stay..comfy pillows etc breakfast was ok overall not too bad
No comment
Room was comfortable, but no obvious way to open window. Menu was fine, but chef seems a bit heavy on hot spices. Service was good and helpful.
The hotel is in a good place for walks. The reception isn’t on arrival was miserable unlike the lady checking us out. The bar needs more staff at night. The place was so busy the barman had no time clear glasses etc. the other barman waiter served when he could. But was busy serving tables on arrival day. The room had been repaired with plaster but needs a lick of paint. The room was too hot and windows did not open. The food was good.
A lovely hotel with very welcoming staff. The location was excellent with beautiful walks nearby.
Everything just right. Lovely room and staff very friendly. It was stress-free. Thank you, Shireburn Arms.
We had a very comfortable stay and the food was good. However the service was a bit slow
My booking was cancelled by Expedia by mistake. Therefore I never stayed at the Shireburn!
The property was well-situated for my walk along the Tolkien Trail. My room was comfortable and well-serviced.
Very friendly staff very accommodating
In a beautiful little village. Food was excellent
Lovely place with great views and the start of the Tolkien trail which is one of the best walks I know…….the cheese and onion pie is delicious
Great Food, Room was spacious but had to ask for it to be vacuumed as carpet had been missed. Headboard too needed cleaning, however staff very reliable and efficient and sorted the problem immediately. Food was excellent, so overall a great stay.
Great hotel with lovely staff
Easy process to book online with plenty of contact before the visit. Booking in was straightforward wnen we arrived. Easy instructions to find the room. Room itself was a very good size with very comfortable beds - a great night's sleep. Plenty of coffee/chocolate sachets provided and refilled the next day. Loads odf shampoo in bathroom but had to ask for a shower gel. A satisfactory size TV. There is a breakfast menu which is very varied. I particularly enjoyed the eggs benedict which was cooked to order. Juice, breakfast cereal, pastries etc were help yourself from the bar area. Leavind by 10.30 was great. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking available. A good experience.
The hotel looks nice from the exterior, it's part of the James' Place group so I had decent expectations. Sadly, it didn't hit any heights at all. The main problem is the management. There are simply not enough staff working. Two on the bar (queues for service that lasted an eternity). Tables strewn with used glasses and plates. Nobody picking them up. Breakfast was a total disaster. Nowhere to sit that wasn't saturated with dirty cutlery and crockery, no staff cleaning up. We sat down (at a dirty table) for ten minutes, nobody came to help or advise, so we left. Hungry. Our room was clean and tidy, but also very small and overly heated. The shower was a pathetic dribble. The entire experience was poor.
Quality of food very good and VFM . Staff ( multi tasking) friendly and willing Arrived May Day Bank holiday lunchtime at around13.30 pm but no lunch available to us. Apologies made for "no room at the Inn,"However although referred to Mitton Hall ( Sister hotel) no effort made to contact this hotel to see if lunch available there for us. Staff in my view lack oversight and direction by Management. Eg debris of food/drink/ dirty crockery/glasses etc from Monday Bank Holiday which were on table directly outside of our bedroom window, were still awaiting clearance at 10,45 am on Tuesday morning. Not something we wanted to wake up to and look out on !! However, this aside we would stay at the Shireburn again. But we feel customer focus on residents needs attention. Holiday.
Lovely old pub
Fabulous dog friendly hotel. Good food, good friendly service. Great location for walking.
Lovely hotel, room had everything we needed with a comfy bed and modern bathroom. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, and the breakfast the next morning was also faultless. There was a bit of chaos checking in and out due a wedding but overall the staff did a really good job
A relaxed, dog friendly hotel. Wonderful roaring real fires in the bar/dining area. Set in stunning countryside with lots of walks from the door. Welcoming, cosy with plenty of character.
Excellent country pub hotel with lovely restaurant and great staff
Very comfortable, well appointed room with great views over the open countryside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and atmosphere in the bar was very good.
Excellent as usual.
Quirky 17th Century coach house in a stunning location. Good food, locally sourced and friendly staff.
Rolm was clean and spacious. The food was unbelievable and the staff were really attentive and friendly. Super happy with this place! If I had one complaint its the fox hunting paintings on the wall. Barbaric sport which shouldnt be glorified.
We had an overnight stay, it was lovely. The room was lovely, warm and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A good old fashioned, in the nicest way B&B. My only complaint is there was a cobweb in the room, it was quite ‘cosy’ and couldn’t open the windows.
The room was just what we needed, we was in a double room with en suite, room was clean, staff was flexible and so kind. Breakfast was beautiful! Overall a good hotel to stay at, hopefully be back in the new year
Excellent 2 night stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and good service. Very comfortable room.
Staff very attentive considering how rushed they were on a Friday night with a function. Nice breakfast. Could do with more toiletries in the room as insufficient for a couple having multiple showers.
Lovely hotel, staff friendly and helpful, rooms comfy and clean. Food hot and tasty, couldn’t fault.
Comfortable and plenty of character.
Stayed for 2 nights. Check-in was simple and the room was fine. Service at the bar was slow and staff seemed to lack experience. I ordered numerous bottles of red wine (the delicious French Malbec), none of which were accompanied with a polished wine glass - every time I ended up cleaning off watermarks and grease, myself. I requested an early breakfast due to me having work the following morning, I was offered cereal and coffee - no pastries or hot option - not even toast. Disappointing. Breakfast on day 2 wasn't bad but there wasn't a clean table in sight. The server told us to take a seat and then realised that there wasn't anywhere for us to sit, prompting her to clear a table and get it re-laid for us. The tables remained dirty and not 'cleared' for the duration of our breakfast - an unpleasant environment, at best. It was also disappointing to see the server then go and sit behind reception and not make an effort to clear any of the tables, nor refill our coffee or check back to see how our food was. All in all, it was a disappointing stay. I expected higher standards with the Shireburn being part of James' Places. The hotel itself was lovely and had lots of character, boasting some fantastic surroundings. Lots of potential, let down by operations.
the macerator in the bathroom was noisy and the on next door could be heard in our room, and woke us early Sunday morning good value overall breakfast was plentiful
Lovely hotel in a beautiful area. Staff were great, room was lovely. Unfortunately arrived too late for evening meal but breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again
Room felt slightly on the small side but everything very clean & comfortable. The breakfast was very nice too…Good value for money overall
Very good as usual.
Excellent character, something I really enjoy. Great Location and cracking breakfast.
