It was very warm

Our room with an estuary view was clean and comfortable, and although it was a bit smaller than we expected it was well-furnished, including a couple of cozy chairs in the bay window. The public areas on the ground floor are beautiful, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the restaurant. Nice location near everything of interest in Southend. Recommended.

A bit more drawer space would have been nice.

Llegué al hotel de madrugada [ 2 am]desde Londres tras el colapso del sistema de control aéreo y cancelación de nuestro vuelo de regreso con un niño menor de edad. La persona de recepción fue muy amable y realizó el check-in rápidamente lo cual agradezco sobremanera. La persona de recepción del día siguiente que hizo el check-out también estupenda, nos facilitó todo lo que necesitamos y nos lo envió por correo. Solo tengo palabras de agradecimiento.

We couldn't complain at all about our room, it was spacious, had everything you needed and was very clean. We were staying with friends who asked for a "Sea view" room, which they were given, their room however was smaller and their toilet and shower room significantly so, resulting in the fact when they took a shower, it completely wet the entire room. This is a known fault at the hotel. Our tip would be to avoid a room with a "sea view" (it's the Thames estuary, not the Caribbean!). 😁

Room was quite small and we were there two years ago when there was a power cur, so we had no air con and lift service, and were told we could have an upgrade on our next visit, but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked at the weekend we stayed.

We had a 50 minute wait for fillet steak in the restaurant and there was only 3 other tables in there, we weren’t show a bill just given the chance to tap the machine to pay and they charged £11 service charge without even asking! and we had a terrible noise above our bedroom going off all night every 10 minutes kept me awake all night!

Short & strong Very disappointing experience for a supposed 4-star hotel. We booked a Super King room but were given a tiny, congested room. The AC kept switching off every 2–3 minutes, and despite repeatedly asking for help, we waited 4–5+ hours before being moved. The replacement room was even worse — used condoms in the bin, dirty walls, no working TV remote, and a broken room telephone. We were travelling with our premature baby, making this even more stressful. What’s even more disappointing is that management doesn’t seem to take the matter seriously. We specifically requested to speak with the manager, but the manager never contacted us. We paid a lot based on the hotel’s good reviews, but the cleanliness, maintenance and customer service were nowhere near 4-star standard. We have photos and videos as evidence. Extremely disappointing.

The Staff were wonderful, very kind, polite and extremely helpful. Both rooms were very clean and tidy although room 405 for the first night needs much attention given the price albeit peak season. I did mention after the first night that I did not like the room. This is where I rate the Staff and Management highly. I was moved to another room 402 for the second night at no extra charge. The Staff helped me to move my things exceptional customer service. Room 402 had a beautiful balcony with a stunning sea view. The room was beautiful, large, comfortable and the bed was a dream to sleep in. The bathroom was extremely clean including toilet brush! Everything I could have needed was provided in the room and bathroom including tea, coffee selections. I did not eat breakfast or meals at the hotel as the prices were high. I was told by Claire when checking out that the prices do change when it is not peak season. Claire was lovely and yes I would stay again in room 402 definately.

The first room I stayed in for the first night I did not like. As a severely disabled guest I had to ask reception to move one of the bedside tables as I could not open the wardrobe to hang my clothes. Although I had a balcony there was no access to the outside stairs and I felt vunerable. The net curtains in room 405 need replacing and the carpet needs deep cleaning to get rid of stains.

I had the loveliest stay at the seven hotel in south end with my mum and son , the staff were absolutely lovely , Fazul was wonderful and so great with my son who was being very cheeky around the hotel , they were very kind and one of them even gave me a phone charger to keep over night , I’m so sorry I didn’t catch his name !! I couldn’t recommend this little gem of a hotel enough , it was spotlessly clean , rooms were lovely and the food was like Michelin star , thank you so much will be back soon

Afternoon Tea. Booked in February for a surprise 70th for group of 12 with deposits taken. The Afternoon Tea consisted of a plate of sandwiches, followed by the 3 tiered stack of plates that consisted of 3 different styles of mousse, which werd melting on the plate and 4 overcooked scones. Not a baked cake insight. The whole experience was very disappointing. AND to add insult to injury they did not take off the deposits from the final bill!! Footnote: think this was done on purpose as they tried to hike the price of the ATea after i had paid the deposits in February. A short reminder regarding Consumer Rights Act, seemed to put things right. Maybe thats why out ATea was rubbish!

Very accommodating asked to change baby bed to a baby cot and did it with no complaints was very happy

Stayed here from the 6-8th July for a short break in Southend. Check in was smooth. Lovley decor in the Hotel. On arrival to our room all I can say is Wow! What a beautiful room it was. Air con was superb it was most needed with the hot weather. The bed was very comfortable. Tv in room had streaming services also. The bathroom is absolutely massive! The shower is a walk in one and very big. The bathroom floor is also heated so the floor is never cold and dries in the shower area very quickly indeed. We enjoyed our stay and would stop here again definitely!

We booked a mini trip to escape London and we book the Seven hotel on arriving we we're presently surprised looked lovely and clean and well kept. we could t check in till 3 but wanted to go and spend some time shaving fun and asked if we could leave our car in their car park - of course they said! magic! we had dinner at the restaurant that night and it was amazing we have a bit of everything as family joined us for dinner and we all had something different. All the food was amazing! we checked out our room and it was lovely the view was amazing and i couldn't wait to wake up to it. Room service later on for a toastie was great 👍🏻 and they made a bed up for my little one too.. rooms are beautiful and clean. beds are firm and comfortable. double beds are not king size just to note . breakfast was stunning full english and my daughter had pancakes all was perfect and lovely quality food is used or made. Staff are very helpful and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. once checked out we could leave our car again to go have some fun.. We will be back and i've already told family to visit.

When I arrived to the hotel I booked and paid before I arrive. It was booked for 2 adults and 1 kid he is 5 years old. On arrival I checked in went to my room and relized he gave me a double room instead of a family room I taught first he made a mistake but sadly he did not. He told me even tho I booked it for 2 adults and 1 kid didn't mean I was entitled to an extra bed for my kid . Receptionist told me that usually if family's come they all stay in one double bed and to provide me with the extra bed he's would have to charge me extra. Unbelievable in 2026 . Very expensive and not worth it I booked the premier inn tonight at less then half the prize and 100% better

Reality isn’t what is advertised. Lack of free parking. Accessibility to entrance not good for a pram. Building was in need of a deep clean and repair. Water pressure poor. Bed smaller than anticipated. Too much light coming through the blinds at night and in morning. Couldn’t find the sweet spot for the AC - either too hot or too cold. Bathroom was missing a hand towel rail. Strange room layout decisions: Toilet roll holder was on other side of room away from toilet. TV uncomfortably far from the bed. Smelly drain. Missing fire evacuation sign on back of door.

We love staying here, close to the seafront and a stroll to the cliffs pavilion to watch a show. Excellent restaurant, welcoming staff and lovely intimate bar.

This is an absolutely lovely hotel. Wonderful owner and team/staff, and a wonderful restaurant (Aurum) attached to it with delicious food. The rooms are extremely nice and clean. And the location is also perfect. Definitely you should stay here when coming anywhere in the Southend area!

Great room as always, this time an "Estuary View", on the first floor (we have stayed here several times in various rooms - all good) this room, easy access via lift, modern fit stylish fit out and the double glazing, cutting down any external noise. Plus point .. the air-conditioning is super efficient and very up to the job of cooling the room top a constant 19-20 degrees, which was good as it was up in the mid 30s during our stay. Breakfast is really good, as i the daytime / lunch menu, which is available to eat on the ample clean and well looked after terrace at the front of the hotel, the restaurant has bi-fold doors, which are great in the summer, but allow a warm and cosy place to eat in the less clement weather, but maintaining the view out over the water. lovely little bar which is open late to residents. Access is available to most of hotel via ramps / lifts and electric front doors etc.

The only issue, if you arrive by car, is remember to book the on-site parking, there a small dedicated car park, but space is limited- but available in advance. Else there is ample on-street parking out front to right plus a small island of spaces within view out front.. (but at council rates).

The hotel is central and some of the rooms (including ours) have an estuary view. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was very dusty - you could see thick layers of dust on the surfaces. It looked old and worn and not like the photos at all. The glass shower panel did not stretch far enough across so the water went everywhere and made it very dangerous. The towel rail in the bathroom was rusty and the carpet was very worn in places, and dirty/dusty in corners. We were woken up late at night to a party going on and I believe that was in the hotel. The next day an awful smell from the bin lorry that they allow to back right up against the front of the hotel - the smell was horrendous and we had to close the windows.

Check-in was quick and straightforward, with no wait at reception. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming.

The bed was significantly smaller than expected for a double. Neither my partner nor I are particularly large—my partner is only 5 feet tall—yet neither of us could lie comfortably flat. We were forced to sleep on our sides and, even then, felt uncomfortably cramped. The air conditioning unit was also an issue. Even when switched off, it would regularly drain or make noticeable noise approximately every 40 minutes, which was disruptive throughout the stay. While the shower itself appeared clean, there were clumps of hair in the corners and stuck to the shower walls, which was disappointing from a cleanliness perspective. On the first floor, the hallways frequently smelled of Marijuana, which was unpleasant. Overall, considering the price charged, the experience was severely underwhelming and did not meet our expectations.

We booked this hotel to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday and it is difficult to overstate how disappointing the experience was. Before our stay, I emailed the hotel on four separate occasions to let them know this was a special birthday celebration. Not one email received a response. We booked a "sea view" room, which had more view of a flat roof than it did of the sea. Calling it a sea view is generous at best. On arrival there was nobody available at reception. In the room, the phone didn't work and the hand wash dispenser was empty. Dinner was equally disappointing. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet despite requesting a sea-view table we were seated so close to another couple that we were nearer to them than we were to each other. Meanwhile, kitchen and restaurant staff seemed far more interested in watching football than looking after guests. Music from the kitchen was louder than the restaurant's own music, and staff were regularly cheering and shouting at the match. After complaining, we were assured that a manager would meet us the following morning. Instead, at 11pm, there was a knock on our door delivering a birthday dessert after we had already gone to bed. The night was then ruined by a child screaming in the room above from around 5am until 9am. More concerningly, the parents were so aggressively vocal towards the child that I felt compelled to report it to reception and suggest they consider contacting the appropriate authorities. When we checked out, there was no manager available despite the promise made the night before. We were told someone would contact us. Nobody did. Three days later, after hearing absolutely nothing, we had to call the hotel ourselves. We were passed around, left waiting while other guests were checked in, and eventually told that what we had already received was all they could offer. The problem is that nothing was ever offered. No apology, no complimentary drink, no discount, no gesture of goodwill, no attempt whatsoever to acknowledge the dreadful experience we had endured. What should have been a memorable celebration became a catalogue of poor service, broken promises, lack of management, poor communication and complete indifference to guest experience. Many thanks for ruining my wife's 40th birthday.

We stayed at the seven for 3 nights while visiting family. We were always greeted at the door and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view was lovely. We enjoyed the small bar area at the entrance for morning coffee and an afternoon cocktail. Even though it was rainy and chilly we did have a occasion to sit outside. The hotel is very close to the high street and south end on sea attractions.

I booked a sea view and at arrival while checking in, I saw them change my room on the print out. The receptionist stylishly cancelled my room number which was on the 3rd floor to the 1st floor. I asked him immediately why he did that and he kept trying to deflect saying they upgraded me and my fiancée. We didn’t ask for no upgrade and asked that our room be returned to the initial room a they refused. The manager saw everything and tried to avoid coming to sort the whole issue. We were forced to take the room which was a car park view. We also didn’t get any compensation at all. It was the worst birthday holiday experience for my fiancée. It seemed like one staff was the one controlling both the reception and bar too.
