All bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night. (Full, existing members of Hosteling Scotland and HI using these channels are not entitled to a membership refund).
Individual reservations (Up to 9 people) - can cancel free of charge until 3 days before the arrival date. If canceled within the 3 days before the arrival 100 percent of the total price will be charged.
Groups reservations (more than 9 people) - different policies and additional supplements will apply. More than 8 weeks (57 days or more) 20% of total cost. 8 – 4 weeks (56- 29 days) 55% of total cost. 4 – 0 weeks (28 - 0 day) 100% of total cost.
No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.
Should guests be entitled to a refund or part refund please note that these are processed by Hosteling Scotland National Office, Stirling. It may take 7 to 10 working days from the date of cancelation request for the refund to be processed back onto the original card used.
From the age of 12 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender when booking a bed within shared accommodations. Parties with children under 12 years will only be accommodated in private rooms, where available.
Hosteling Scotland advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when traveling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodations is available. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots.
Check-in from 16:30 until 22:00. Check-out before 10:00. Late check-in is available if arranged in advance. The hostel normally has limited daytime access between 10:00 and 16:30.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.
Please note that the full amount of the reservation is due before arrival. will send a confirmation with detailed payment information. After full payment is taken, the property's details, including the address and where to pick up the keys, will be sent to you by email.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Sally at reception was friendly, welcoming and very generous with her knowledge about the area. She helped us to book a boat trip and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen is large and well equipped and there are plenty of communal spaces to sit and enjoy the company of others or play scrabble ! Our room was cosy and comfortable with good mattresses and cosy duvets.
The fact that we could not stay longer !

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026Staff are helpful and friendly, the location is great, the dorms and toilets are clean, the shared kitchen is perfectly well equipped, all the tools are clean and working. Coffee, tea, jams, cereals, juices are offered. It's a lovely place to have as a base to explore Ullapool and surroundings.
If I really have to mention something that could be better, that would be the size of the shared dorms.

A tiny room with 2 single beds toe to toe, smaller than a prison cell, with 2 hooks on the back of the door. No other storage or other facilities in the room. Way overpriced.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2026A notre arrivée, nous avons été accueillis par une dame très sympathique, patiente, compétente et claire dans ses explications. Nous avons eu 2 chambres en tout. 1 chambre avec 2 lits et 1 chambre avec 3 lits (dont 2 superposés). Ils étaient confortables et la place dans les chambres était tout juste suffisante. La cuisine ainsi que la salle à manger étaient propres, accessibles et pratiques. Il y avait même des jeux pour les enfants. Et les salles de bains/toilettes (hommes/femmes) étaient corrects. La résidence se trouvait à quelques minutes du ferry.
si vraiment je devais dire quelque chose, je proposerai de faire quelques logements en rdc pour les personnes ayant des difficultés à monter et descendre les escaliers.

Il costo pagato, la pulizia discutibile, il fatto che la Mattina abbiamo dovuto disfare i letti e portare le lenzuola nelle ceste e alla colazione ognuno si doveva poi lavare le stoviglie usate x una colazione pagata 6,5 £ cad. Le stoviglie, poi dovevano essere riposte al banco colazione così da poter essere riutilizzate da chi arrivava dopo. Ma l’igiene?!?!?

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026I was impressed with the facilities. The toilets and showers were very clean and the shower especially was excellent with powerful pressure and hot water. Much appreciated after a hard day on the hills! The beds were also clean and comfortable. Also a special shout out to Fi on reception who provided a really friendly welcome.
There’s nothing I can think of that needs improving.

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026Située pile sur le front de mer, à quelques minutes à pied de tout, cette auberge de jeunesse acceuille tout type de voyageurs, tous très respectueux les uns des autres. Elle est ancienne et donc peu équipée de salles de bain ou de toilettes privées (seule notre chambre familiale en était pourvue), les communes sont sur le palier, hommes et femmes séparés. Les lits ont très propres, la salle de bain aussi, la chambre est franchement grande pour une auberge de jeunesse. La salle commune au rez-de-chaussée comprend tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner, mettre au frais, manger, se pauser avec un salon contenant livres, jeux et jouets. Tout est bien expliqué sur les arrivées et départs et le personnel est sympathique et souriant

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026Der Empfang an der Reception war sehr freundlich. Die Gemeinschaftsräume sind gut organisiert und sehr sauber. Die Betten waren für Federkernmatratzen okay, wir haben alle gut geschlafen.
Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig und teilweise sehr klein. Leider haben wir eines der kleinsten Zimmer erwischt - es hatte gerade einmal Platz für 2 Betten und einen ganz schmalen Gang (eine Kofferbreite, d.h. man musst über den Koffer steigen, wenn man zum Bett wollte).

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026Wir hatten 2 2er Zimmer, eines war toll mit Aussicht aufs Wasser, dafür aber Straßenlärm. Das andere war zum „Garten“ hin, aber so miniklein, dass die beiden Betten hintereinanderstanden. Die Selbstversorger-Küche war toll ausgestattet und sehr sauber. Auch die Waschmöglichkeiten ausreichend vorhanden und sehr sauber. Wir wurden sehr freundlich aufgenommen und uns wurde alles genau erklärt - super! Die Zudecken sind toll und dick genug, es gibt sogar Heizungen, auch auf den Fluren war es angenehm warm im Vergleich zu draußen. Die Handtücher waren schön fluffig.
Die Zimmertüren kann man absolut nicht leise schließen - sehr schade, denn so wird man auch in der Nacht immer mal wach, wenn jemand zur Toilette geht. Das Singen/Gröhlen von Straßenmusikern über mind. 2-3 Stunden und immer dieselben 2 Lieder war irgendwann etwas nervig, aber dafür kann die Unterkunft ja nichts. Immerhin um 22 h war dann draußen auch Ruhe.

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026Great place but please book it directly through the hostel, booking.com makes it look like there's no spaces and you need to reserve the whole room for ridiculous amount of money!
The way booking.com has denied to cancel or change my reservation.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Très bon accueil dans cette auberge de jeunesse. La salle commune (coin repas et coin salon) est très confortable et très bien équipée. Les sanitaires communs sont propres. La chambre pour 4 personnes est fonctionnelle.
Nous avons été surpris, tout comme les personnes présentes au même moment que nous, de devoir faire la vaisselle du petit déjeuner que nous avons payé sur place. C'est plutôt inhabituel. Peut-être est-ce utile de le préciser à l'achat.

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026Travelling with 2 big dogs... Staff were great, if you arrive early they have a lounge you can use. We had a room due to having dogs... The view was of the Loch and dock. Loved the kitchen facilities, the staff were marvellous and showers good too.

Reviewed Jun 15, 2026Very clean with a perfect location, and the staff were very friendly. We stayed in a range of accommodation options, all more expensive, during our NC500 cycle trip, and the Ullapool Youth Hostel still came out on top! Check out the local Fish and Chips!

Reviewed Jun 9, 2026Despite arriving early the hosts welcomed us and allowed us to store our bikes in the very secure bike shed just next to the hostel. The kitchen was very well equipped and had plenty of space, pans, crockery etc for everyone. There were enough toilets and showers for everyone so we didn’t have to wait for anything, although I think the hostel wasn’t full when we stayed. The location is also very central for everything and we really enjoyed our stay here. There’s also a small lounge available all day if you arrive early/ leave late.
Nothing, all was really good.
