Perfectly comfortable stay. Would stay again. The coffee shop in the lobby was excellent.
Nice upscale amenities. Perfect location.
Really nothing. The coffee shop in the morning had like premade breakfast sandwiches that was disappointing. They were not good, but coffee was good.
Nice hotel and room and staff however charging me 75$ to check in at 1 is an inult and never seen before in 40 yeara of travel.
Location
Some rooms are pretty noisy due to being adjacent of neighboring big AC systems. Had to change room, but staff was very helpful and accommodating.
The hotel is located in a wonderful area in terms of restaurants and night life. We were on the 3rd floor and our executive king room was noisy. The most concerning thing I'll mention is the tub/shower situation. The tub was very deep making entering for me difficult (I'm 5'3''). The tub floor was very slick and didn't have a mat of any kind. Very unsafe. We compensated by using the bath in the tub for traction. Climbing out was an adventure even more difficult than getting in. The grab bar in the shower was good for nothing. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and our room was cleaned and tidied up daily. The coffee shop staff were pleasant and friendly. The hotel seemed clean.
😝😝 i am giving them 3 stars ⭐️ only because Emily Hotel charged me $55.36 for 2 , tiny 8oz water bottles,, tiny trial mix and a chocolate bar from our bedroom, I did not know I was getting charged for these items my thought was they were complimentary since this is a high end hotel !! When I called to complain they gave me the running around until i talked to a manager who only gave me a $25 credit … I was looking for a full refund 😝 Yet I have to say front desk personnel were courteous and pleasant and they deserve 4 stars ⭐️ …..Martina
Perfectly located in the West Loop. Close to fabulous restaurants and nightlife. Trendy Hotel and friendly staff!
Great hotel, super clean , great amenities , I loved the stay and will definitely be back !
The property in its entirety was beautiful. However, my window view of the neighboring commercial property of their air conditioning system with the deteriorating deck was very lackluster and killed my entire vibe for my first time in Chicago. I was too exhausted to go back downstairs to ask for a better room with views.
Very expensive, very basic room, $600+ per night. Arrived to hotel at noon and was told my room was ready but since check in is 3pm I would be considered an “early check-in” and would be required to pay an additional $75 to take the room early. In 62 years, traveling to various parts of the world, this had never happened to me. I will never be back. I travel to Chicago at least once per month and thought I would try your hotel. Never again. No other hotel I have stayed in Chicago has had this extra pay policy.
Stayed the weekend at this weather loop boutique hotel. It has everything you need but not a luxury property. Very efficient and modern designed room though small. The room takes advantage of its space and provides all that we needed. Enjoyed both the restaurant and coffee shop. And the location is great if you are looking to be close to the west loop restaurants.
Great stay! The sheets could use an upgrade but other than that, great location, great food, nice ambience! Would stay again.
Tv kept shutting off. Called maintenance but he could not fix it. Kind of a pain to watch tv having it shut off every 5 minutes.
We had a loft suite which was very large but it was not separated between rooms. Oddly there was only one garbage can in the whole room and that was a small can in the bathroom. There was a mini fridge with drinks in it and some extra room for some of our own bottles, however there was no microwave. The valley service was very good. Check in was quick. No checkout required as they just email you the bill. Chicago charges some high taxes. We had lunch and I had the pork belly Benedict which was very good. My wife had the Smashburger which was also very good.
A good stay at this hotel. Nothing fancy and pretty basic surroundings in the room, but everything you needed.
The accommodations were lovely - fresh, spotless and with all the amenities we could ask for!
The first thing that's needed to be done at this hotel is that all ground staff ie reception and bar need to do a hospitality course. We entered and left the hotel without any interaction from them. In this day and age surely a Hello or Thank you could be inputted to the staffs daily routine. Uphouse staff were the opposite, so friendly and nice. We ordered a beer on saturday while waiting for a taxi, the lady that served us wanted to be anywhere but work. Reception staff should not be on the desk unless they greet and welcome their customers on all accounts.
Ordered a double queen room and received a single king. Cot was “comped”. Gee thanks
The bed was comfortable and the hotel is in an amazing location.
The walls are paper thin, I could hear people in the hallway and noise from outside the hotel.
Wonderful stay! Clean, pretty, and great location.
What a jewel! Really loved the vibe. Rooms so comfy and clean, the front desk super helpful and easy. Sure beats the big chains I have to use for business travel.
I enjoyed my stay here. It's peaceful and away from the train noise and nicely located. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Leo. Thank you, Leo, for making my stay memorable. I will definitely come back.
Great location if staying in the loop
Decor was cheap, room felt like a dorm room
The hotel is pretty to look at and more boutique than luxury. The overall room vibes are instagram worthy but don’t give you a sense of luxury. The beds are super low and uncomfortable/hard to sleep on. The desk is made out of plywood and was warping/worn out. The functionality of the room was lacking. The sink was in the entry hall so no privacy and the bathroom was a tub-shower with a curtain. The tub shower was awkwardly high-walled, which was not easy to get in and out of and even worse the floors of the shower/tub were slippery. The soaps and shampoos were strange flavors and didn’t elevate the experience. The room was clean but the blinds did not black out the sunlight which came over the top of the drapes. Overall, restaurant and rooftop cinema are cool and the hotel is definitely nice, but if you’re spending that much on a room I would suggest looking elsewhere for a more comfortable and luxurious experience. The staff was very kind and attentive.
The phone in our room did not work. The beds were so hard and uncomfortable!! Housekeeping entered the room at 9am without knocking. The fridge was so tiny and full of “for purchase” items we couldn’t put anything in it. The location was the best thing about this hotel but everything else was the quality of a very low budget motel. Don’t waste your money!!!

Friendly Staff. Nice coffee shop. Comfortable room.
Hope you’re an early riser. The very loud train starts coming through at 6am.
The bed sheets had stains
I liked this hotel until I got to my room. I booked the loft suite, which I think is their best room class, at a price of over $550 (before tax etc). I’ve never been in federal prison but I feel like this room may have been similar to where Martha Stewart lived for a while. Also kind of reminded me of a crappy college dorm. The lack of natural light, brown everything and ceilings that were painted dark made me feel just yucky. Whoever the designer was for these rooms maybe was playing a cruel joke and is having the last laugh? I don’t get it. Please don’t stay here.
Location was good, room was nice although the bathroom was sooooooo dark.
Bathroom too dark, no water out for guests, price was way too much. Prices deliberately increased for that weekend… gouging people.
I was shocked that the only room I was offered smelled bad and had three big stains on the floor. I was offered the opportunity to move rooms the next day. However, when I returned to the desk to follow up, they claimed that they called me to offer a room, and I did not pick up. Yet I showed them my phone log which indicated that I had not received a call or voicemail from them. It felt like they were trying to gaslight me. The management handled this very poorly.
Great location
Cant think of anything
We enjoyed our 2 night weekend stay at The Emily Hotel. In town to see Cardi B, we desired a hotel near the United Center with dining options in building and plenty around, amazing customer service, walking areas, and geared towards adults. The Emily Hotel did just that. We greatly appreciate our hostess accomoding us for Sunday morning brunch. We didn't have a reservation but we able to be served quickly with refreshing conversation while waiting.
Van luo Frankie and. Manager Chris your guys are great. We had great experience and we but good news Thank you guys 🙏
We went to Chicago for a family wedding and the Emily Hotel was one of the places recommended to stay. Looks like a cool hotel so we selected it. Overall, the experience was good, but it is definitely a minimalist design to the hotel. The only chair in the room was one wire chair, so not particularly comfortable for any extended seating. We also had no liquid soap in the soap dispenser and housekeeping neglected to refill it. After our fourth stop at the front desk to request a refill it was finally refilled so definitely a "miss" there. We went to sit outside one morning after an overnight rainfall, and the staff had dried off the outdoor seating for the restaurant area, but hadn't dried off the seating area for the hotel guests. When we sat in the restaurant area, we were told that we had to leave because all the tables were reserved so we ended up drying off the seats ourselves. Another "miss". They do have a outdoor theater on the sixth floor, which looks like a cool venue, although we didn't have the opportunity to experience it. On Friday morning, our first morning at the hotel we were awakeened at 6 o'clock by construction noise in the hotel. I've never heard of construction work starting at 6 AM, and we had no idea that would be construction underway. Fortunately, the rest of our stay was over a weekend. Finally, the neighborhood is extremely noisy at night - loud cars, loud music and crowds of people in the street. I guess if you're in your 20s and you want to stay out all night it would be fine, but it definitely didn't enhance our experience.
Shocked by the rooms. Spiderwebs in corner of bathroom, no light, plywood on ceiling and tables. Bed was super uncomfortable. The tv was mounted on the side of the bed so had to turn to side to watch or sit up and turn. There was a makeup light but the cord had to be stretched across the counter to plug it in. Whoever designed these rooms should not continue. Not what I expected for $350 per night. The only good thing was the location and the drinks at the bar/coffee. Will not be going back there.
loved the simple but very well laid out rooms - lots of shelves and places to hang things. also LOVE that the windows open. that for me is huge. Ditto the coffee shop downstairs. Staff was terrific. As was the location - so many good restaurants nearby. We meant to use the gym but never did but we did peek in and it is a pretty decent size for a hotel gym and love that they have pelotons!
would have loved a better breakfast option on the weekend. full brunch didn't start til 11 and we are early risers so all that was available were some pretty basic things at the cafe. prices were VERY high on the weekend. I loved my simple low-key room but it should NOT have been almost $600/night!
Everything. But top of the line is the location, close to many restaurants and cafes and how Personalized the service was. Their attention to detail was exceptional. And they really were helpful in giving their best effort in attending to our request. The room was clean and neat.
Nothing
The Good - Great location, Clean, quiet, great beds and responsive staff. The Bad - The minimalist look of the room had all the charm of a submarine. Plywood furniture and pegboard doors. One small chair in a room with a King sized bed (had to ask for another). Bed was on chrome rail frame reminded me of a dormitory. No sink in bathroom. If you needed to use the toilet at night you needed to turn on the light in the sleeping area to wash your hands.
The Emily is well located but the rooms are so poorly designed that I couldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. There is nowhere to unpack your luggage, there is no comfortable seating in the room, the lighting in the room is terrible and depending on which room you have the hallways are unbelievably long and dark. The materials in the room are the cheapest, commodity grade materials available and there isn’t a stick of artwork anywhere. The sink area is so tight that one cannot really locate toiletries and the light above the mirror is off center (someone’s idea of an edgy design concept) which means that when you look in the mirror one side of your face is in shadow. The bathtub rim is about 30” above the floor- you practically need a step ladder to get in and out of the shower. It is hard to imagine how anyone could have designed such a disaster. If you must stay there, insist on a room facing the street. When we checked in we were given a room with a view of a neighboring building’s air conditioning equipment. When we complained we were told: it’s an urban hotel, what do you expect? Only when we demanded to speak to the manager were we able to get a better view. Also: if you want an actual breakfast the restaurant doesn’t open until 9:00 AM - before that your only option is a “coffee bar” with no food menu options. It’s really too bad because the hotel is in a great location in the Randolph St/Fulton Market area. But for the price this can only be described as a waste of money.
Location ok. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Service in restaurant slow but food good.
I am very impressed it only by the room itself, but the staff here are a group of kind and amazing people. I was traveling for business and was severely delayed. I want able to show up until nearly 3am. The attendant at the front desk was very understanding and had such a positive attitude despite it being so late. I really appreciated them. The room was clean and very well laid out. Additionally, the complimentary shampoos, conditioners, and body soap are great quality. I will definitely look forward to booking another stay in the future.
Great and comfortable clean environment I will come and stay here again
Beautiful boutique hotel. Demetrius at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. I cannot give this hotel 5 stars, because the lighting in the bathroom is really poor. I turned on all lights and even opened the curtains, but I wasn’t able to see my face clearly to apply makeup. Therefore I will not be staying here again.
Absolutely wonderful experience. The food and atmosphere was incredible.
The rooms and the public spaces were artful and highly functional. The room design was thoughtful and exceedingly comfortable.
This is a very lovely boutique style hotel conveniently located in the Fulton Market area. The staff is all very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are well appointed, comfortable and fairly quiet for a city hotel.
Great location. Rooms are very dark and garbage truck arrives everyday at 4:30 to wake you up. I would not stay again because of that.
Check in was efficient. Room was very clean and comfortable. Restaurant service and food were excellent.
Most energizing fun hotel right in the heart of Fulton market .. great shops and restaurants galore plus charming cobblestone streets .. staff was so helpful too .. perfect stay !
I absolutely adored this place. The vibe was spot on, relaxed, genuine, and thoughtfully curated. The staff were fantastic, friendly in a real, unforced way that made the whole experience feel welcoming rather than scripted. The room was immaculately clean, which immediately stood out. I especially loved the full length desk built along a wall of windows overlooking the city lights. It was such a great touch, whether you are working or just taking it all in. Even the small details impressed me, like the mattress being fully encased and the bed’s simple, elevated design that made it feel both more comfortable and visibly clean. You could actually see underneath it, which added to the sense of care and cleanliness. Location wise, it could not have been better. It is in a great area that feels calm and not overly busy, yet still close to everything. It is right across from major companies and just around the corner from Fulton Market. This place easily exceeds any of the major hotel chains I have stayed at in Chicago. I would go back without hesitation.
The Emily Hotel is perfectly situated in the West Loop of Chicago, walkable to many shops and restaurants. It’s in a great location. The hotel itself is clean and they offer valet parking. I booked an accessible standard king room (by mistake). The room was clean but very basic. There was a stocked mini fridge and a coffee pot in the room, as well as a safe and close steamer. The carpet felt industrial and was not plush. The king size mattress sat on a metal frame with no boxspring. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom and small. It could have used a shelf underneath for a couple’s toiletries. The bathroom had a shower that was accessible for a wheelchair and a toilet. Even though there was a closet with plenty of space, there were no drawers to use. I thought this may have been because it’s an accessible room but going through photos on their website, I noticed the sink was outside the bathroom for other rooms offered. There’s a coffee shop on the first floor as well as a restaurant and bar. The bar had a fantastic bourbon selection. The staff at the hotel was friendly and engaging. I had a bad fall in the room hurt my knee, badly cutting it in three places. Because it was late at night there were no pharmacies open, but the front desk staff gave my husband antiseptic cream and plenty of bandages. They offered to take me to the hospital as well. I chose Emily because it was a three minute walk from a fundraising event I was attending last weekend in the area. All in all, I would stay here again just for the location if I had another event in the West Loop or visiting our kids who live in the West Loop even though it’s pretty bare bones basic. I wouldn’t consider it a luxury boutique hotel, though. I stay in Chicago quite often in the theater district at a couple of boutique hotels and this one would be the bottom of the list of hotels I’ve frequented.
Great customer service from check in to check out. Very close to everything.
Friendly staff. Upbeat vibe. Good price
Very nice, clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff! Rooms and beds were clean and location was in a great and convenient location. It was quiet and have 0 complaints. Highly recommend this hotel!
Great location
Bed uncomfortable, not a great or even good value
The service was excellent from the check in staff to the bartender to the housekeeping staff, all 5 stars. The rooms are very modern and simple - they don’t look like typical luxury: plywood and metal rack details, but they are very comfortable. We’re in our retirement years so I was curious how the youthful rooms would feel and I was not disappointed. The bed and linens were top quality, the toiletries are a favorite brand: Malin + Goetz. Rather than the horrible in-room coffee of many hotels, they had coffee “tea” bags for steeping with a stylish electric kettle. Our room had the unfortunate view of the rooftop HVAC system, but we didn’t spend much time there because the neighborhood is so vibrant with fun activities and dining options. If I could suggest any improvements, I’d ask for a dresser of some sort for unpacking rumpled clothing (small closet, few hangers) and upgrade to Nespresso Pixie coffee makers.
Nothing
I will need an hour to express my thoughts about this terrible stay
Great location, close to restaurants and shopping. We walked 1.8 miles downtown to art museum. Room boasts a minimalist vibe, but amenities were elite. Front desk was able to offer earlier check-in, which was appreciated.
I lovedddd my room so much, awesome modern vibes with interesting furniture which is important to me. Great location and surprisingly cheap.
Nice room, friendly staff. Restaurant menu was not that great.
The staff at The Emily Hotel is really what made our stay. They were all super friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond even when unprompted/unasked. Special recognition to Leo. Will definitely stay again!
One of the best locations and rooms if not the best I’ve ever stayed in Chicago. Staff is friendly and amazing!
Not worth the price. The location is awesome but everything else is downright bad. The halls are concrete and anyone walking down them will wake you up every time throughout the night. The rooms look right into the Google office so there is no privacy. The decor looks like a low budget industrial hostel. The lattes at the coffee bar leave a lot to be desired—their special in mid-March is still a pumpkin spice latte they’ve featured since late September. I would highly recommend any other spot in Fulton Market.
Multiple options for lighting
All good
Location
Very modern
The hotel was clean, in a central location, and offered great amenities, especially for young adults. The hotel restaurant and bar had a nice crowd but weren't overcrowded. The room was perfectly comfortable with ample space for two people. While sparsely decorated, the Bluetooth speaker was a nice touch, and the robes were comfortable.
The air conditioner was finicky and turned off in the middle of the night. The coffee bar was oddly stocked, but otherwise we loved it.
Very Impressed with this hotel. The lobby is very classy looking and a great place to wait for others or have a cocktail. My daughter recently used this hotel for her wedding guests. The team coordinated everything - creating the booking block and space for the first look. That all worked out great. We did have a few hiccups with the room, but the staff responded quickly to resolve it. I do wish the beds were a true queen (felt like a double). Sink area is small but I thought it worked well wit the shelves. It is in a great location, walking distance to many restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend!
Had the best time at the Emily hotel! Demetrius went above and beyond to help us with our check-in process. His service was top-notch. The troom had a comfortable bed. It was clean. Enjoyed the shower. Couldn’t ask for a better location. I would definitely stay at the Emily again.
Location was good. Room was disappointing - small bathroom sink with only 1 mirror - hard for a couple to share when getting ready for a wedding. Limited storage space and no decent lounge chair. Dinner on Friday (chicken sandwich) was inedible. Saturday night there was a problem with the A/C in 3 rooms. The Engineer came up right away and got it working. He left and 15 minutes later it broke again. He came back and we noticed that the air filter to the unit was filthy. Front desk offered to move us to another room but it was after midnight and we had 2 rooms (family) next to each other. The excuse for the lack of a/c was due to weather. Both of our rooms and another friend’s room (different floors) had no a/c. There were some other friends that had no problems with their A/C - so the excuse of weather did NOT ring true. Staff was pleasant and apologized but I would not stay here again! The room was very stuffy without any air flowing. Opening a window to get fresh air just allowed the noise from traffic and the train (a block away) to keep us awake the remainder of the night. It was a toasty 73 degrees - not ideal sleeping temp.
I LOVE the Emily!!! Everything is perfect and i want to make a special calling to Dimitriys at reception, he is BRILLIANT and so VERY VERY HELPFUL!!!
Our stay at The Emily Hotel was perfect. We had an 18 hour layover in Chicago and snagged a great last minute rate. The hotel was in the Fulton Market District one block off of Fulton which is loaded with great restaurants and bars. The room was spacious and so comfortable! We love the industrial design, the well stocked mini bar, plush towels and robes and great bathroom products! We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in Chicago and this is now one of our favorites if not our favorite stay! Great coffee shop downstairs as well. Definitely coming back.
Staff was very accommodating with a complication with the booking. Room was clean and spacious. Would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel, great staff! The hotel has a nice gym and very complete, the best equipped one in the neighborhood
Location was great! A variety of restaurants and retail to choose from that were walkable.
N/A
The room had a college dorm industrial feel.
location: excellent; breakfast menu: average; staff: very responsive
breakfast menu: pork belly very dry and unflavorful
The hotel was very loud. Guests were loud walking down the hallway at 2 am and again around 2:30 am. A very drunk guest woke me up before 5 am and was arguing with a staff member. I ended up only getting 3 hours of sleep so have been a zombie all day. We were in town for our daughter's engagement and will find a quieter venue the next time we stay in the city.
The noise level in the middle of the night
This was our first Christmas trip to Chicago and we needed to find a hotel that was close to where our kids live. The Emily fit the bill perfectly! The location in the West Loop/Fulton Market was really fun - lots of restaurants, bars and shopping are very close by. The hotel is lovely and the room - a deluxe king - was very nice. I did find the bed to be a bit too firm for my liking and had a dickens of a time trying to get the room cool enough for a good night's sleep. Despite those two hiccups, I would still recommend this lovely hotel to all travelers coming to the West Loop/Fulton Market area.
Beds a bit on the firm side.
The fitness studio was excellent. I could do my workouts each day.
It was annoying to keep doing the wifi for each day you were there. The wifi should work for all they time you are there without having to keep updating it.
It was an amazing stay the room was spacious but still felt cozy at the same time. The only downside was that there wasn’t a fridge or a microwave in the room, which I didn’t love. Other than that, everything was great. They even provided a complimentary umbrella and a robe, which was a really nice touch. The bathroom, though, was hands down my favorite part I absolutely loved it.
We stayed here for my wife’s birthday and had an amazing experience. Frankie took great care of us he was welcoming, attentive, and really went above and beyond. The hotel vibe is awesome, the room was outstanding, and everything was spotless. The location is super walkable to lots of great spots, and valet was fast and friendly. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town and hopefully stay longer to enjoy even more of what the hotel has to offer.
Perfect location and a very stylish room made our stay so enjoyable! Their outstanding front desk and housekeeping staff helped retrieve my fiancé’s engagement ring that we accidentally left behind when we checked out of The Emily. We are so thankful and will always stay at the Emily Hotel. Thank You so much!
