It was a helpful location
The automated check in and check out is too complicated and takes far too long The pillows are hard and knobbly. Our rooms weren’t serviced so we had a sopping wet bath mat for two days as the shower overflowed however carefully you were
Location
See through bathrooms, no non slip mats in shower
It was conveniently close to the port and a welcomed stay before our long journey . We also enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was not bad either. Bed was comfy and there is a definite feeling if energy and wellbeing. The staff were all very smiley and happy.
Our room was stated as ‘not ready’ on the check yourself in machine. We had to use a person to find out why because we arrived at 10 pm! Apparently the TV was not working, which was disappointing. However, my husband wrangled a free nightcap at the bar in compensation, which they were very happy to accommodate. The room was so small there was nowhere to put our rucksacks! Good job we didn’t bring cases! Also they have glass screens to separate the bathroom from the room and there is a button to frost the glass for privacy. However you can still see into the room from the bathroom as the door doesn’t’frost’ Luckily we have been married for many years but It was a bit off-putting seeing your other half wandering around the room while you are concentrating on the throne! Maybe we would use The Village again if we wanted a pool but not because of the room.
Modern and clean.
It’s no better than a Premier Inn but it has a big gym which is the main appeal. I will use a Premier Inn of The Marriott in future.
Modern, clean, good value, great A/C, friendly, accommodating staff. Starbucks in the lobby! Good WIFI and TV. Better than average hotel breakfast! Close to Portsmouth cruise terminal.
Modern, lovely staff, well appointed rooms.
Unfortunately the hotel is located next to Portsmouth’s unofficial night time race track.
Clean and. Comfortable. Pub/Restaurant on site
Nothing
The staff that was on duty during my check in was polite and very helpful
Nothing not to like
The food was nice. But abit cold by the time it arrived in my room. I think for the price you pay it should be hotter.
It was all very nice and the staff were very helpful
Free parking ,
Friendly staff who go that extra mile Clean Facilitates all kinds
Nothing
Convenient location. Lively feel
Light coming in under the door. Small window in bathroom and no window in bedroom
The room was modern looking
Room was nice but not very big. Wouldn’t want too stay more than 1 night in it.
Very clean and comfortable
Small room
The room was lovely, clean and cosy.. the bed was sooo comfortable also! I will definitely be coming back again!
Great place to visit Victorious using the shuttle. House keeping were brilliant, and good facilities on site, including good price for the health club use.
Shame an excercise class was so loud it felt like it was in our room each morning - and woke us up! Bed is great but fills the room - hence no real storage. Anyway its great for a basic weekend, but pricey for the size of the room and room facilities.
Walls and roof
Having to pay for car parking because I booked thru Booking.com
Very good 👍
I thought I had booked a club room but I was told on arrival I would have to pay £5 extra to use the pool but we were on the 4th floor which clearly said club rooms in the lift but we were to tired to argue
Comfy bed and staff were very good
The privacy screen in the room has the controls on the outside so you have no control once in the shower or loo. Also the sliding door did not frost.
The shower but the glass wall a bit of a gimmick
I didn’t sleep!
Modern with food and drinks area
Although a large car park this was not included in Booking.Com price so had to pay. Large wedding happening which dominated various areas with drunk guests and drunk driver manoeuvring and parking badly
Its proximity to where I was going
Unfortunately the size of the room and facilities were below par for what I paid for that weekend I had an unfortunate experience with the bar staff who were obnoxious and cantankerous and speaking about me to one another because I had asked for changes in drinks and questioned them on aspects I was not satisfied with It was clear I was an irritation to them You will see that I am a frequent traveller and customer of Booking.com and so I do know a thing it two about service in hospitality and standards Sadly they made the satay a disappointment At check out however, the lady dealing with us was exemplary
Everything
A lot of facilities on site. Good location. Small rooms but comfortable bed and good selection of tv channels.
A little dirty in some areas like the lifts. Usb charger by the bed did not work.
Don’t eat there, ordered a pizza. It was suitable for a child. Cold over priced and mainly dough. Changed it to the KNOWN for burgers. The bun not toasted, soggy and inedible Pudding bourbon biscuit chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream. More like squirty cream, cheap chocolate sauce and processed cheesecake Not worth £40
All the facilities, anyhow we both members in bracknell branch but during summer time we are put of country most of the time then we will.retirn our membership during winter time.We love all.the facilities specially the spa and jacuzzi.

I was stayed on Friday night then Sat morning is not good because started breakfast at 8am than I need to go out early. Would be good start at 7am for breakfast!
Great place to stay, all staff very friendly, room very clean and nice and quiet, pub and grill food very nice and cooked just how we wanted it
Top Modernes Hotel mit Gym, Starbucks, Lokal etc.
Bed shower Staff parking gym pool spa . Shame ice bath out of order . Cold shower. Not cold enough.
Not enough healthy eating options for me
Breakfast was very good and a good choice of different foods.
The rooms were tiny and found it weird that the glass door to the bathroom was see through.
Quiet
Room- I was in a disabled room although not disabled. !!! .... Lots of space and good Aircon. bathroom basin too low for a non disabled person and no shelf for toiletries.
Location
The breakfast was excellent. The staff very helpful and friendly. I found the room on the small size, compared to other hotels rooms I have used. My bed was very comfortable.
The twin room to be bigger. On the Thursday night of our stay, the noise level coming from the roads, motor bikes, went on for over an hour. It sounded like they were racing up and down near the hotel.
Excellent hotel great location
No skin mostiriser
Nothing
Awful. It was filthy. Dirty bathroom, floor messy, bin had rubbish in. Did not sleep due to noise all night. No privacy when using the bathroom, your partner sees everything through the glass, plus door doesn’t close. Awful.😢
So clean and facilities like gym
Place to store personal laguage in the room
Great location with lots of parking and great facilities
Nothing to dislike
Clean, easy to find .Free car parking

The hotel was very modern clean and very comfortable
Booked two rooms for four people at the time of booking it stated private parking is possible on site at a cost of £5, but on arrival was told it was £10 per motorcycle we offered to park two motorcycles in one parking space and pay £10 but the receptionist was having none of it and made us pay £20 for the two motorcycles. This Hotel in my mind is not motorcycle friendly and will not be stopping at any Village Hotels again, unless they make changes to the parking charges.
Very unclean, mould on ceiling, dusty visible rust, and other unclean marks around room once I was four nights in found questionable stains on head rest, so instantly pack up and left I have photos, would suggest Scrutinise room before getting comfortable!! Or there budget hotels in area that are cleaner
Stayed here for two nights before a cruise from Southampton for our anniversary. It was a great location for parkrun on the Saturday morning as you literally walk out of the carpark onto the parkrun route. It’s also great for access into the city centre with bus and train stops nearby or a walking trail along the solent, if you want a longer walk. There is a pub and cafe on site and there are plenty of restaurants at Port Solent a short drive away. Check in was smooth and we used the self check in with no issues. Our room was on the 4th floor with a view across nearby fields. Gym access was included and we used equipment, attended a virtual spin class and had a swim. All the staff we spoke to were super friendly and helpful and we even got a welcome card in our room wishing us a happy anniversary!
Customer service staff
Aging decor shower water escapes onto floor lack of natural light food for room service cold and difficult to sort out. Overcharged
Closeness to ferry. Modern and clean.

Village Hotel Portsmouth delivers a slick, modern stay with impressive "everything under one roof" convenience. Conveniently located near the M27, it serves as an excellent base for business or exploring the historic dockyard. The standout feature is the state-of-the-art leisure club, complete with a heated indoor pool, sauna, and sprawling gym. Rooms are contemporary, ultra-clean, and boast ultra-comfortable beds paired with large TVs. Having an on-site Starbucks and a lively Pub & Grill makes dining effortless. While peak fitness hours can get busy, the stylish atmosphere, tech-forward check-in, and great facilities make it a top-tier choice.
Husband and I stayed for the weekend to see the SailGP. Really comfortable room, amazing shower (I mean REALLY amazing), fab food, and town was a very reasonable cab ride away. Just what we needed!
Room was very clean all staff were helpful ,the pool was vrry clean enjoyed the sanua and steam room and the bar was a good place to unwind
It’s a village hotel! Brilliant facilities and a great price point, worth noting very close tomprrsmputh and Gunwharf keys. If you’ve not stayed in a village they are great- pools/gym/sauna & sports bars. I will note this one has great Staff aswell
This should be a great hotel choice for visiting Portsmouth but sadly they have failed to act upon the many , many complaints they have received about the noise coming from the gym from 6.30am. The thumping of weights, excessive music and screaming instructors is constant across the 2nd floor. They need to decide if they are a hotel or a gym!! I would not stay again
Been many times before it’s comfortable and clean
Not much really
Nice area
Location and parking

I really like hotel room …it was very nice and clean
They should open the pool till late, ha ha ha it was a good ways coz i entered hotel 9:30 nd my first question was is pool open and she said sorry it was till 9 o’clock , at-least 11:00 it should open …take it good ways not bad ok ♥️

Lovely room,comfy bed,good shower
Couldn't fault anything
The room was quirky and funky..but not for us, not impressed with the half glass bathroom door. The door that slid across to bathroom was very wonky and lots of dust and dirt in corners. Suited us for an overnight stay. Unfortunately wouldn’t stay again.
As above half see through glass to bathroom.
Easy to find and convenient for anywhere between Chichester and Southampton. Bedroom was small but comfortable. Food was good, especially breakfast but restaurant was very noisy. Large car park.
very noisy restaurant.
Well sized rooms, big bathrooms and decent air con made this a great stay during the hot weather. The sports bar is great too as is the coffee shop.
Shower was decent
room was great Bar was lively as football was on staff were friendly and i will be staying there again very soon
breakfast starts too late we needed to be onsite for 08.00 and breakfast didn't start until 08.00 which meant we were late to start our work, it could do with starting at 07.00 ( breakfast was very nice through)
Lovely room and facilities
The bathroom favolities were not for older people.
Nothing
Contacted the hotel to check they had working air conditioning that day as I was looking to book a room for that night, in hot weather. This was the only reason for my booking. Air conditioning was not, in fact, working in the hotel. Raised this with FoH staff and explained we had only booked to get baby with heat exhaustion in a cool environment. FoH staff said he would get the day manager to arrange a full refund the next day, as we did not even stay the night. Refund never materialised, no one ever available on the phone line and my emails have been ignored. Appalling customer service. Yes, things go wrong, but lying about a refund, when hotel room was not as advertised is an awful way to treat customers.
The hotel was clean, staff were very helpful and I loved the fact that you could use the gym and pool.
Close to port to catch ferry
No free parking for guests, and not sure why the bathroom gets the window, which made the room quite dark
Charlotte on reception was friendly and helpful but the gentleman was unfriendly abrupt and not pleasant to deal with Our 2 choices of room offered were 1 room for disabled or 2 noisey room above 24 hour gym Charlotte said we wouldn't like either!!! We waited until 1630 before we were allocated a quiet sensible room We during the long wait spoke to the F & B manager( Tommy )ref our dietary needs having sent emails and spoken to Village staff but no one told him of our needs he was very friendly helpful and understood our needs checked with chef and said our breakfasts would be O K ----THEY WERE NOT the plant based sausages were dreadful and incinerated staff told us thus was how they should be served how stupid is that ! waiting staff we so embarrassed as they served other vegetarians the same sausages to other guests Tommy was informed of this Next day we didn't bother requesting these wdjust sorted out our own breakfast Pool staff were friendly helpful and informative Overall though a stay to forget but we were not alone as other guests were having the same experience as us Kind Regards John and Pamela
Budget hotel, booked last minute as other hotel cancelled. No big issue room was fine clean.
The staff were rude in the morning.
The club room were quiet , clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly
I liked everything not a bad word to say
2 nights stay. Good budget hotel with clean rooms and parking.
Room and facilities
Parking for motorcycles not good . There was a caged area but not available
beds was abit uncomfy and the room was really dusty
room was dusty and bed was uncomfortable and breakfast in the morning wasn’t good at all
Excellent clean hotel with lots of facilities. Rooms are large and comfortable. Location very good.
Nothing really except the scrambled egg. A bit over cooked for my liking.
Very modern and clean Most of the staff were friendly and helpful Plenty of parking
Had an early start so couldn’t have breakfast. Receptionist was a bit grumpy at check in, maybe because it was the end of her shift but its a hotel and I can’t help what time we arrive and check in, that’s why I booked a hotel!! I spoke to another receptionist on Thursday night asking for information and she was lovely and all other staff, Night porter/receptionist and morning receptionist, were great.
Helpful and friendly service
Could have had another natural window For better natural light. apart from that okay.
Location was perfect for the purpose of my stay.
Everything was perfect!
Location and car park
Room design is poor, placing the toilet to the window is not smart. Room needs a window and a fridge
Great location for England coast path walk, access to spa facilities for only £5
Limited vegan options at restaurant.
Gym
Impersonal
Friendly and efficient booking in process
The bar shut earlier than expected but this did not affect my stay at all
Great night at the 80’s 90’s and 00’s night. Amazing bar staff and live entertainment. Great night sleep and a nice dip in the pool. Very attentive staff, no notes
Very friendly staff, very clean and nice food. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is excellent!
We stayed for one night as a chance to catch up with friends, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The entertainment was outstanding, with a fantastic mix of 80s, 90s, and 2000s music that created a fun and lively atmosphere throughout the evening. The disco was a real highlight and had everyone up dancing and enjoying themselves. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast selection was excellent, with plenty of choice and high-quality food to start the day. The leisure facilities were superb. We made full use of the pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, all of which were well maintained and perfect for unwinding. The combination of great entertainment, comfortable accommodation, delicious breakfast, and excellent spa facilities made for a truly enjoyable break. We would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing getaway.
Had a brilliant stay at the village hotel the room was absolutely beautiful and couldn’t fault a thing! The food was amazing and the staff especially Jimmy are thoughtful and lovely
The room wasn't very large, but it had a desk with a swivel chair. We also found an ironing board and iron. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with smart glass walls. The opaque version is prarically invisible. The shower was really large and very functional. Air conditioning and free parking. On the ground floor, there is a pub and a Starbucks. There also are a gym and a pool, but we didn't use them.
None
Firstly the location of the hotel is perfect, a 5 minute drive from the harbour at Port Solent and only an easy 10 minutes into Gunwarf Quays to satisfy your shopping needs. The staff were exceptional, the room was clean, today and felt like it should cost a lot more then as we were about to leave we filled our stomachs on the unbelievably good unlimited breakfast. It is the only hotel we consider staying at when we visit Portsmouth again.
Too much technology, created a rather impersonal feel. One consequence is the staff seem to be disengaged, not customer focussed.
Everything was fantastic bar the breakfast. It was okay at best. The sausages were very cheap and scrambled eggs were pretty rubbery and watery. Overall it wasn't terrible. I enjoyed my stay the room was impressive and the bed was fantastic !
Easy parking and nice atmosphere
Our room was next to stairs. The cleaner was vacuuming them, banging the vacuum against the metal stairs and singing at the top of his voice at 00:30!!!
I absolutely loved that the staff were very understanding. My brother was seriously ill in hospital and he joked he would love some sausages. The next morning at breakfast I asked if a could take a couple for him. A couple of the staff gave me a container to take him two, which I thought may have made him laugh. Unfortunately, he never got to see them as he was dying when we got to the hospital and died a couple of hours later. Nevertheless, the thoughtfulness of the staff could not have been more appreciated at such a time and I truly want to thank them from the bottom of my heart . It's nice to know there are still compassionate people around xx
How could I dislike anything with such kindness.
Long Weekend Stay Review We booked a last-minute long weekend stay and the hotel accommodated us well. The atmosphere in the Sports & Grill bar was lively and energetic every evening, with friendly staff who were always willing to help. The hotel is very modern, with most services accessed by scanning QR codes on your phone. Check-in is largely self-service via terminals in the foyer, with reception staff available if needed. There's also a busy Starbucks on-site and Sky TV in the rooms. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the surrounding area and part of the car park. We booked a Club Room, which wasn't noticeably larger than standard rooms but did include extra amenities. At 161 sq ft, the room felt quite compact, especially when eating meals in-room, as there was only enough desk space for one person to comfortably dine. The ensuite was excellent. The walk-in shower featured powerful rainfall and handheld shower options, plenty of hot water. As a physically disabled guest travelling with my autistic partner, these facilities were much appreciated. The leisure facilities included a large swimming pool, two swimming lanes, hot tub, steam room, Finnish sauna, cold plunge pool, communal showers, and disabled changing rooms. Lockers operate using a magnetic wristband system, and towels are collected from reception before entering. The hot tub was wonderfully warm, although the swimming pool itself felt more like a leisure centre temperature and was too cold for my liking. A special mention goes to Callum and Jo, who were exceptionally understanding. The Sports & Grill area can be very loud, busy, and party-like, with music and lots of activity. My autistic partner found the environment overwhelming, so both staff members kindly waived the room service charge to allow us to dine comfortably in our room. Unfortunately, the beds were extremely firm, and despite additional pillows and bedding, neither of us slept particularly well. Areas for Improvement The biggest issue throughout our stay was the lack of signage. While the hotel is visually impressive, there are very few directions explaining where things are or how facilities operate. On arrival, it wasn't immediately clear whether guests should check themselves in or speak to staff. The reception area could benefit from clearer guidance and a more proactive welcome for arriving guests. The same problem existed within the spa facilities. There were no clear instructions explaining where towels were collected, how the lockers worked, or the process for accessing the facilities. As a disabled guest, I would have struggled considerably had my partner not been able to walk back and forth seeking information. There was also no information displayed regarding pool, hot tub, or plunge pool temperatures. The only visible notice encouraged guests to shower before entering the pool. The hotel promotes itself as disability-friendly, and there are designated Blue Badge parking spaces close to the entrance. Accessible rooms include grab rails, pull cords, and adapted showers. However, the rooms are relatively small, and wheelchair users may find manoeuvring around the bed challenging due to limited space. The hotel does have lifts, and disabled guests may wish to request a room close to them when booking, as all routes eventually lead down to the Sports & Grill area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the helpful staff, modern facilities, and excellent accessible shower facilities. However, clearer signage, better guest guidance, softer beds and some improvements to accessibility within the rooms would significantly improve the experience.
Loved the pool and hot tub. Modern bathroom. Great food in the bar & grill. Premier League Darts on the big screen in the evening. Very close to Lakeside parkrun.
Only able to have the air conditioning on for a short period of time and a thick duvet during the summer heat
A good hotel - clearly the gym and health club is such a big part of this place that its not so much a hotel, as a gym with a few rooms added on. (Which is I understand the genesis of the brand. Nothing wrong with that.) In fact, if you are into your fitness, then not only is there a very good gym, pool, with classes going on, but also its right next to the open land by the lake which has a running circuit with exercise machines (a trim trail), but also has a Parkrun here - if your a Parkrun tourist then this hotel is a perfect location, and you can do the run, get back, shower, and be in plenty of time to check-out. (If you've not discovered Parkruns yet - do. Go and enjoy) In this event I didn't in fact use the gym, as I was only here for one night and was getting up to do the Parkrun. The whole place is modern and trendy. Only - its trying a bit too hard to be trendy. The funny signage and labels on everything - its clearly been thought up by a corporate branding team. It comes across as your parents using teenager language, or dare I generate an image - a politician trying to be 'cool'. The rooms are nice - but just a little small. They've clearly been designed with a minimum requirement in mind. They have all the things (coffee machine, ironing board, TV) that make them seem 'luxury', but having a bit of space to move around is also a luxury requirement. It also seems odd that there's no outside window that isn't in the bathroom (might not be the case for all rooms of course). Clearly they expect trendy people to be watching the TV, not looking out of the window. Downstairs there's a sports bag dominated by big screens, and a Starbucks. Its all fine. An upgrade to a 'club' room is nothing to write home about. The room is the same but you get a pod coffee machine and a 'club' chocolate bar - only one mind you. There's an argument waiting if you're a couple. Apparently you also get a bottle of water (wow - the generosity!) although in our case it appeared to have evaporated, or perhaps someone forgot. Breakfast - we didn't have here, but it looked like a standard hotel buffet. I'm sure it would be good. I'd be happy to stay here again, and Village Hotels generally as I expect they're all similar - but equally I might also go somewhere else if I wanted somewhere slightly more traditional.
I had ordered the steak tonight, it was cold, I got 3 tiny mushrooms, my chips were like the bottom of the bag chips. I ordered Béarnaise sauce and when it came out it wasn’t Béarnaise, it was packet Hollindaise. The Head chef said that’s how village hotel makes Béarnaise, I returned it and wasn’t offered a refund. I will never eat here again, 4 star maybe 2 star
Had a very cool vibe and the Starbucks downstairs was a real plus
Everything was great! Especially the AC and Dyson fan which was must needed as we were there during the hottest May ever recorded in the history of UK. Perhaps the AC needs servicing as I could smell slight mould
Big up to date gym Funky bar and restaurant Self check in
Nothing
Location near ferry port
Online food and drink ordering
Starbucks in the lobby
We were 15 mins before check in, already paid for early access but they wanted another £15! Club room, melted chocolate, dirty bathroom, smerrs all over glass and generally quite noisy Hotel, not very relaxing
It’s lovely we been a few times I would go back
I ordered a birthday set to decorate the bedroom which was £15 and when I entered it it had four balloons and one banner. I had made this extra special for my husband as he’s been in hospital for the last few weeks and it was his birthday and I wanted to treat him out and I was very upset that this did not happen and it was not done right and the Cleaner had left a load of glasses and rubbish by our room and did not clear till the morning we ordered food in the restaurant. I ordered the cooking ice cream and I couldn’t even eat the cookie cause it was that hard and no one could break it even a manager had trouble.
