Reasonably priced good location

First we are grateful that a mistake we made was resolved by Chapel House. The room was large with 2 chairs (not every double room has them). Comfortable bed and ample storage space for clothes, etc. Quirky breakfast box brought to our room each morning with good hot food. What we saw of the the staff the were very friendly.

Going up stairs (we retired to a bungalow!!). Also, on road parking was a bit problematic but we got it sorted.

Our breakfast was very good we had a sandwich from the breakfast menu that was very very tasty we had the porridge brûlée very yummy and an apple and orange juice. It comes to your room on a tray with the most interesting spoon for the porridge it was a small shovel very quirky

The pool in the hotel we were aloud to use wasn’t great. Quite run down and not the cleanest. But i have absolutely no complaints about the accommodation at chapel house

I didn't like the idea of having to go to a different hotel to use the hot tub. And the swimming pool was not in use for the entire time that we stayed there for. It would have been great for someone to contact me to let me know that the swimming pool was unavailable to use. I still paid the same money weather I used it or not I think its un fair that I still paid the same price I would have liked a bit of a refund back as we wasn't able to use the pool.

The pool is not on site and was not open , no bar on site. Could order cooked breakfast but no cereal option for kids

ITS NO WAY A £150 per night king suite. Rough around the edges,cracked walls (yes its an old building) double bed was 2 single mattresses. Old none smart tv worst dated furniture ever. Stupid sofa infront of tv yet no table to put anything on. Ad states parking yes its advertised as £8 once youve paid then your text on the day its £10 for street parking. Shower was very scabby and broken, see pics. View was literally a tree. Breakfast £12.50 for a sarnie,yogurt and orange juice. Go out walk up road cross over dejabrew fantastic full English. It was clean thats it. Playing pool is £1 a go so thats good but a can on beer out of the fridge £4 thats prob £5 a 4 pack from Tesco down the road. However thats your choice but is a nice touch just too expensive. So its a very very average large room deffo not at that price.

Lack of facilities. No breakfast room. Pool in sister hotel closed. I had to notify the staff of this by WhatsApp. There is no access to the chapel. Unmanned most of the time. Only given code to the 'hotel' via WhatsApp. Key in an envelope once in the building. Very strange. Housekeeping was ok for clean beds and towels, but lots of dust on the pictures needed attention. Man in one of the hotel rooms smashed up the room with lots of swearing and noise. He eventually was removed on the second night. Something that could have been dealt with sooner had the 'hotel' been manned. No take aways allowed but 'breakfast in bed' was in takeaway form! It was delicious but a rather unusual setup.This was served between 8 and 9 a.m., so customers had no control over the timing if you wanted it early or later. Also, the first morning we were there, it was cold. It's more like just renting a room than being in a hotel. I don't think it can be called a hotel anymore as they must have cut costs since it first opened.

Impossible to contact the staff, even by message in booking.com. I booked it and spent several days sending messages asking how to book parking space, I got no response at all. Breakfast was supposed to be delivered to your room from 8 to 9PM. In the first morning it was delivered around 8:50am, which was fine. On the second morning my breakfast was not delivered at all. I had placed my breakfast request and a friend's requested on the previous nigh. They delivered breakfast to her room and all the other rooms at 8:40am, however mine was never delivered.

We never had breakfast. Room was nice and clean. Our grandson thought the fold up bed very uncomfortable? One thing I would like to add is that we booked for three people there was only 2 comfortable chairs, would have liked an extra chair.

There was everything that we needed for our stay

We stayed in the ‘suite’ which was much more than we expected, really big and spotless. Bed was comfortable, clean towels on each day. Breakfast was delicious too. Also liked the little extras such as board games.

There was no lock on the bathroom door but we just pushed the little cabinet in front of the door!

Breakfast was okay but prefer a proper sit down breakfast in a dining room.

No aircon in the rooms and the windows wouldn’t open properly.

Booked a superior king-size room. Only king-size available. Carpets in desperate need to be cleaned and room to be decorated. Lock on door didn't feel secure as it isn't fitted properly. Put a chair against the door all night. Got a fan to put in room, couldn't use it as it was thick with dust. Beach is not 400yds away. Swimming pool is not at hotel, it's at Sister hotel a drive away that we couldn't use as it was getting renovated - apparently. Parking is pot luck outside and payment of £10 for 2 days.

Great location, the room was good size and very comfortable. The check in very simple. I made a mistake when filling the parking permit and the staff helped me immediately. Ill be back for sure!

The swimming pool was under maintenance work so I couldnt use it, but is not hotel fault.

Staff was friendly and comunication was good with management. Clean premises.

We were unlucky to not be able to use the pool because it was on maintainance on our second day of stay. So we had to go swim elsewhere and pay 30 £ for a whole day. We only found out once we got to the partener hotel. Management of Chapel House apologised for the inconvinience after we informed them of the situation.

Everything, big room comfortable bed, was also an experience that there was no staff not in a bad way but every instruction was all really straightforward. And everything you needed i.e iron , hairdryer games was lovely touch.

We like the room and the bed, very comfortable. We liked the old furniture and the shower and toilet was good.

I absolutely hated the single glazed windows. There was no soundproof, and because the location is by a busy road, one could hear the traffic! It was terrible and noisy!

Lovely light and airy spacious room with comfortable large double bed. We had a great night's sleep! We would have loved breakfast as I didn't book it at the time of the reservation.However, In the room it gives you the Option to order before midnight , but I could not find a pen/pencil anywhere to indicate what we would like to order. (Unfortunately I didnt pack a pen in my bag) Car park in Albion Road ( just around the corner) was ideal for parking overnight and reasonably priced . As where to park was our main concern before arriving. Even though the hotel offer a free 3hr disc which you collect from inside the hotel. Locating the bays youre allowed to park in when youre in strange surroundings was an issue for us.

Pen / pencil not to be found in the room or lobby or lounge area. Which would enable guests filling in breakfast order.

We have stayed here several times it’s always clean and comfortable , staff are so polite and friendly and always happy to help , it’s within walking distance to the sea front and restaurants we love it here

Perfect location all main amenities within walking distance. Hotel clean and tidy, catered for every need, filtered coffee was a nice touch. Breakfast delivery worked well, good choice. Honesty box when you self served, water, parking permit etc, wonderful idea. We had a great stay and would stay again

third person in the room was our daughter ( aged 20), so we assumed three adults would have normal beds. Third person was on a fold up bed, which was fine for one night

Not keen on the arrival process and no one being there to greet you and let you know were to park etc How to get in was sent by text bit confusing We had to pre order our breakfast , which turned out to be a bacon butty delivered to your bedroom between 8-9 , we had an emergency call at 7 am and had to rush off and leave and again no one to inform and no breakfast to take with us so left hungry and again not even a pad to leave a message or let somebody know

Purchased a 48hr parking permit and the permit said a different location the lady in the next room was aldo concerned as the permit said no ither location could be used. She rang and asked advice and knocked on to tell us.Breakfast cobs on the 1st morning were barely warm and one was cold and the wrong filling asked for sausage got bacon wrapping in foil might help. The bed was not very comfortable and the pillows were too hard.

The room was really clean and well looked after. The host was great at communication, giving us all the details we needed to check in (it was self check in). We stayed for one night with our 4 year old, the room was a great size for a family, not too small. The location is excellent for the beach and for town. You could add breakfast on if you had changed your mind and they provided parking permits (for a small fee). We couldn't get parked on the street but there's a 24hr car park that is maybe 200yrds down the road which is very reasonably priced. I would definitely stay again. It's on a main road, so be aware that it isn't silent. We were expecting noise so it wasn't an issue for us.

There were only minor things that I noticed, our room hadn't been filled with hand wash, they had a selection of board games to use but the one we chose had all of its bits missing. There are hairdryers to use but they were in a communal space, which we didn't know until we checked out. Everything else was excellent.

Broken shower rose fixing, Dysfunctional shower system making it impossible to lower the water temperature. I contacted the number provided, I had to leave a message and wait some time before a reply. The reply was that since I was there for just one night, the personel could not be bothered to check in-situ what was going on. Very disappointing.

Great location, communication from hosts was excellent, lovely hotel and breakfast was prefect delivered to our door. If you are going to Scarborough you need to stop here excellent place and we will be back

Cracks in the walls in the room. Shower was too hot and would not go any cooler. No wardrobe in the room. Too expensive for what we received.

The main bed was terrible, sagged in the middle & was t very comfortable.

Room had two large single paned sash windows overlooking the busy main highway out of Scarborough and consequently was VERY noisy. Management did not mention this even after we booked (but did provide earplugs) which we felt was a bit underhand. Fortunately we were so tired we slept through it but light sleepers will not be so lucky.

Texts prior explaining was helpful & didn’t mind the lack of staff on hand.

Room was very basic, tatty in places & small, not like the photo on booking.com Also the room we got had loads of road noise. Disappointing for £150 for room only. On street parking was tight as well.

We did not like the lack of human contact. Breakfast being delivered to our room, although ok there was no where to sit adequately to eat it. I ordered apple juice and got orange. The advert states free parking, whilst there is a permit for 3 hours you then have to pay. Which is fair enough, but it should say this on booking.com. It is not some where we would recommend staying. We certainly won't come back.

The bathtub was clogged, the water went down very slowly, it wasn't fun.

Room was very clean and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable. Liked the pool table too! Considering the price we paid it was excellent value for money.

Location was great. You can just walk to town or down to the bay. Host was very responsive.

Location was good, close the the key facilities with a handy car park near by that had electric charging. The room was spacious, clean and had a very comfy bed, table and easy chairs. The table and chairs were very handy for breakfast which is served in your room/ The shower was good and powerful.

The road noise, but ear plugs were provided and these were good. I would have liked more choice with breakfast and I missed not going to a dinning room, but it was good and tasty.

We used the bath towels on friday evening and saturday morning and when our room was cleaned on Saturday the towels were taken but no clean ones were left. Leaving us only the hand towels to use after our shower on sunday morning.

Nowhere to eat breakfast as the only option was to have it in your room and the options were a sandwich or a sandwich which was very disappointing considering it is advertised as a hotel and restaurant. The towels were not replenished and bedding was not changed after food was spilt, the only place to eat breakfast was on the bed!

Close to the sea and town. The just was very friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice hot shower. Reasonably priced car 24 hour car park just down the road.

Really nice location just off the esplanade. Room had more space than your normal hotel chain and had more character, due to the origins of the place no doubt. Really nice communal area with a pool table.

It would have been helpful to get the arrival instructions a little earlier, just my preference.

Excellent value for what I paid … I’ve paid a lot more for properties that where no where near as good I’ve seen comments regarding self check in , there was nothing wrong with it .. it all went smooth Also comments regarding the breakfast , the breakfast was excellent especially for the cost and what you get etc and the bonus it gets delivered to your room … I would definitely recommend this property without doubt

Perfect location for our festival. Booking in and checking out was super easy with clear instructions prior to arrival. Andy was lovely and very accommodating. The place was spacious and clean Had a pool table and outside area. Breakfast brought to your room each morning. House keeping daily. I suffer with back problems so I can get worried about beds etc when traveling. I slept better than I have done in a year and no pain from the bed at all. We will definitely be staying again if we go to the festival next year :-D

L'emplacement est parfait, proche de la plage et du Scarborough Spa où nous allions pour un événement. Néanmoins, il s'agit plus d'une maison d'hôte que d'un hôtel comme indiqué. On entend beaucoup les bruits dans le couloir et dans la rue, le petit déjeuner servi dans la chambre est bon, mais n'ayant pas de table dans notre chambre, ce n'était pas pratique (et beaucoup de déchets car servi dans des boîtes plastique). Nous avons malgré tout apprécié la disponibilité du personnel et notre séjour dans cette magnifique ville.

I didn’t like having our breakfast in the room rather go down and eat at a table we had stayed the year before and were expecting to eat breakfast in a dining room there was no information to say it had changed before we booked other wise I would have stayed somewhere else

Rooms look nothing like on website. Very old, tired and chipped wardrobes in each room which need throwing out and replacing. Very old TV on a very old table. Sash windows all crumbling and need of repair. Our window was jammed open with a 4 inch gap. We had to use a towel to try block the cold draught at night. There are no options for childrens breakfast. No cereals. Only cooked butties, porridge brulee or yoghurt with granola which are not to most childrens liking. Also breakfast was delivered to room each morning. However, there are no tables to eat so we had to sit on bed to eat which was not practical and was very uncomfortable. We had to visit a cafe every day to get our little girl breakfast which was inconvenient and time consuming.

The beds were very clean and comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the staff were really lovely and helpful.

The pictures of the rooms on their website are very misleading as the rooms look great, but the reality is they are tired and in need of refurbishment. There are cracks in the walls, broken fixtures, and steep stairs, not definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The carpets were in need of a clean, the swimming pool is not on site but located at a sister hotel and you have to pre- arrange to use it. The property is located on a very steep hill - ok going down but not on the uphill return. There is no dining room - breakfast is served in the rooms which is ok for two people but if you are in a party you cannot eat together. The rooms were so hot and the small fans were not effective at all - it was very hot weather and we could just could not sleep. There was no wardrobe in one room, just hooks on the wall, the toilet seat moved all the time and the shower was constantly dripping.
