The room had a bad smell, moisture smell, I think due to nearby laundry room used by customers. The door of the laundry room remained open and the smell reached the room make it very uncomfortable. We asked the staff but they said it was due to heavy rain, I don’t think so

The location is excellent, offering easy access to top sightseeing spots and plenty of amazing Kanazawa culinary choices nearby. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Ne pas venir ici pour les chambres de 4 personnes. Celle avec les lits superposés n’ont pas de fenêtre et sentent l’humidité. Très peu de place, même pas de quoi ouvrir une valise. Le petit déjeuner nous a été refusé alors qu’il y avait très peu de monde. Hôtel très cher pour ce qu’il propose comme prestation !

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026L'hôtel est calme, la chambre confortable. L'hôtel est bien placé, à deux pas du temple et du château. On peut se rendre au centre ville à pied et il y a un arrêt de bus juste à côté. Le personnel est serviable.
Le petit déjeuner buffet n'est pas très varié. En revanche, ils proposent une assiette salée copieuse mais il faut aimer le salé au petit déjeuner !

The site does not explicitly mention that the room has no windows and that the beds are stacked one above the other, rather than being regular beds. Very strange for a 4-star hotel. But after I complained, the manager upgraded me to an excellent room free of charge.
Needs to make it very clear what it means by bunker room. and make it clear that the room has no windows.

While the room style is great, it does not function best with the awkward cupboard blocking everything and in the middle of nowhere. No power source in the right place; hence it is a very confusing hotel. Staff can have more smile, front desk can be more helpful with the check-in looking at our tired state, instead, they insist that we do the check-in via machine on our own.

Reviewed Jun 22, 2026We enjoyed our stay at Kumu, the room was very comfortable for a family of four. The shared spaces were quite nice and spread throughout the floors of the building. We did have breakfast at the hotel and found it to be a good start to our day. Location was very convenient and walkable to many sites that we wanted to visit.
We enjoyed the warehouse/loft aesthetic of what we think was formerly an office building into the Kumu Kanazawa, it is spare but comfortable, the rooms do not have a view and daylight is minimal but as we are in the room primarily in the morning and evening, it is not a huge deterrent. The shoji screen window shade is a nice way to handle the minimal window in the room.

Reviewed Jun 16, 2026We loved our stay at the KUMU, and actually wish we chose to stay longer! The facilities are modern, sleek, and spotless. The staff were extremely friendly. We had a full itinerary while in town, but I wish I could have stayed all day relaxing in the room and sitting on the tatami mats. I recommend taking advantage of the free drinks in the afternoon and buying a matcha and wagashi while here. The location is very centrally located — it felt like a 5-10 minute walk to everything!
I have nothing negative to stay. The KUMU is awesome!

The big down side was that our room didn't have a view/window, it did have natural light coming in. That made it habitable.

Reviewed May 26, 2026This hotel was a great location for exploring Kanazawa by foot. Easy walk from the train station or a quick taxi ride. Its location is not far from Omicho market and the castle grounds. The hotel lobby was beautifully designed and there was unique art and spaces like a tea room throughout the hotel. There is an afternoon tea service for guests and the Kissa Lounge had matcha and wagashi or coffee available for purchase. Everyone in my party enjoyed the breakfast (mix of set plate and buffet) which highlighted local ingredients. The moderate loft room was well-designed to maximize space, and was comfortable for the entire family. We also utilized the bike rentals and laundry room; both were reasonable priced and an added value to guests. The hotel also seems to put on community events like a rooftop music and wine event during our stay. Overall, it was a wonderfully experience that makes us excited to return to Kanazawa!
The only downside to our room was the lack of a window with a view, but being downtown it probably would've been a view of other roofs. There was a shoji screen window that let some natural light into the room.

The toilet in our room smelled of urine the entire time. The facilities should offer twice as many laundry dryers as washing machines.

Reviewed May 17, 2026- freundliches Personal - direkt angebunden mit dem Bus (ca 10 min zum HBF) -> hierfür am Besten Google Maps benutzen - schönes modernes Interior (Japanese Style) - Zimmer sind sehr ruhig - Kostenlose Getränke in der Lobby - Jazz DJ in der Lobby am Samstagabend (keine Sorge man hört in den Zimmern darüber nichts) - gute Lage (ca. 15-20 Min zu Fuß zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten und Dinner-Lokalitäten bzw. mit dem Bus schneller)

No me dieron la habitación correcta al llegar. No tenía ventanas. Muy poca iluminación. Me engañó Mariel de Viaje. No regresaría. Porque no me gusta quitarme los zapatos. Pero eso es en mi caso personal
