Choice was good
All was fine
Sea view from breakfast area
Poor quality breakfast items and loud music whether you wanted it or not. Our room faced the road, so noisy and no view
Clean and well appointed
Unfortunately the room we booked wasn’t the one that we were given.
Beautiful hotel with excellent views, the room was very clean with everything we needed including a complimentary Gin and Tonic, could be a problem for disabled people to go to the beach, lots of steps.
I thought that the staff could be better trained, for example at breakfast many people had to wait for a table because the staff had not cleaned up quickly enough, in the bar I had to wait nearly 10 minutes for a drink because there was only one person serving, there was a wedding at the time but more staff were needed.
Gutes Zimmer, toller Ausblick beim Frühstück. Dorfkern ist gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Valet Parking vorhanden.

Great location with excellent facilities and friendly staff. Dinner was excellent on all 3 nights of our stay
Breakfast on Saturday was chaos. we arrived at 9am as booked and had to wait a long time to be seated, tables hadn't been sufficiently cleared. We were given coffee but no cups, two requests for cups went un-headed. When they did arrive there were no saucers. It took an hour to get cooked food and by then you had run out of smoked salmon. Not a good experience It was as if you had never had a large party stay in your hotel. There were insufficient staff to cope with the demand. We learnt our lesson and booked breakfast earlier for Sunday and Monday . Things were much better as a consequence.
I did not appreciate how hilly St Ives was . Easy to walk from station IF you knew route . I thought the Harbour hotel would be overlooking the harbour , which it isnt .
a la carte gets boring
Nice location
Room was in the basement, no view. Carpets either side of the bed had thick tea stains on them. Shower was scorching, I reported it but no change was made. I raised the issue with Booking.com after the stay too, but you refused to answer them. Couldnt use the congealed shower gel, had to open it us, it hadnt been cleaned forever long!! I had a material roofbox with not security lock on my car. I was told it would be in a safe location. I saw it in the station carpark when I got on the train!!
Bed was comfortable
Overpriced for what it is
Room was very clean & had a nice view.
Felt a lot of the staff were very inexperienced….. poor service with information from checking in to dining requests. A wedding was at the hotel & think that took over all the staff & they didn’t see to their general customer needs……. Wasn’t informed it was off site parking also. Would not recommend or stay again.
Lovely room, big bed, valet car parking (£10), very comfortable, slippers and robe provided, nice big TV.
No sea view from room, no walk-in shower only shower in bath with no handrails, not enough mirrors for wife to make face, window only opened two inches, no AC, nightmare breakfast - nearly finished before our coffee arrived, our breakfast table was right next to the buffet table, very close to people walking past, not acceptable for the price we paid.
Good position Great family room with sea view.
Overall very good however definitely cut back on experienced staff. Staff very friendly and accommodating. They obviously did their very best, however training in certain aspects of customer care could have been improved
The location is superb, and the hotel is very comfortable.
Jack Daniel’s rather than Gin would have been nice 😂
Great location
No air con, so pretty hot in the room, there was a plug in fan, but not very efficient.
Good
Only one vegetarian option and the same one every night is really not good enough. Parking arrangements not easy.
comfortable bed. Great view. Great decor and a spotless room

Amazing views
Would have been nice if their pizza restaurant was open
Location and room was fantastic
Breakfast was terrible and was very limited. A good plate of breakfast was not worth the price, considering how much we'd already paid to stay there. The staff on the other were very good and tried their best to look after the guests but it was clear they were short staffed and were not able to keep up with breakfast demands.
Albergo ubicato in buona posizione a circa dieci minuti a piedi dal centro. Camere spaziose.
fantastic room, great staff
access to rail station
The bed was lovely and comfortable
We have stayed there a couple of times and it has really gone downhill. Parking and hot breakfast used to be included in the overnight charge and are now payable. Additionally, the breakfast service was akin to Fawlty Towers. The Maitre D (Dan I think his name was) was lovely and doing his best, but tables were left unclean and several guests including ourselves were left to use the paper menus as plates. The continental breakfast and juices were depleted and not replenished in full in the 30-40 minutes we were waiting. The hot breakfast was not hot and the scrambled eggs had so much salt in they were inedible. I sent them back and they were re-cooked, however I had eaten most of what I could from the plate by the time 10-15 minutes passed and they came back to the table. The housekeeping is also now poor. There was a dollop of someone else's blue toothpaste or shaving foam on the doorframe of my bathroom on check in and it remained there for my entire stay. Additionally, the public toilets in the restaurant area were filthy and looked like they had not been cleaned in quite some time. All very disappointing from a hotel that used to be fantastic!
The bed was comfortable. The staff was attentive.
The electricity in the room did not work on the first night. We informed the reception but they were not able to fix it. We were not able to charge our devices or heat up the milk for my baby. Cobwebs on windows & lamps.
LARGE ROOM ABD GREAT BREAKFASTS
The friendly staff, stunning hilltop views, and relaxing spa made for a wonderful and peaceful stay. The complimentary gin in the room was also a lovely touch and a really nice little extra. 😊
The only small disappointment was that my cooked breakfast was a little undercooked and had gone cold, but hopefully this was just a one-off as the staff were very busy this particular morning.
Lovely views and nice bar
Cleaners didn’t clean our room or refill towels, no air conditioning or fan provided, windows hard to open, breakfast was mediocre.
Location and staff
Only issue was the wait for hot drinks at breakfast either they came after we had eaten or they didn’t come at all but it wasn’t staffs fault there just wasn’t enough staff to work at breakfast. The ones working were so helpful and worked so hard
Sea view from our bedroom
The bathroom was dated and narrow with the mirror in wrong place above the toilet. No hairdryer and ironing facilities was in our room. We complained to reception that our room has bad odour and the spoiled duvet and they cleaned the carpet which helped a bit. They never replaced with another one, fortunately that it was warm weather, but no apologies or goodwill was given. We chose this hotel to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, but it was disappointing for 4 star hotel. Private parking is not on site and we have to inform reception when we need our car half hour prior. This is to let them drive our car from the parking lot near the station car park. This was disappointing as we had to clear all things from our car.
The view from the hotel over looking the beach was fantastic. Our room was comfortable. Buffet breakfast was good, with plenty of options. Morning staff were helpful.
The lack of convenient safe parking. The outside balcony seating was not really usable as the cushions had been left out and got wet and there was seagull poo all over them and the floor. Cushions could be taken in over night and the floor swept to help make this more comfortable for residents to sit and enjoy the view. Evening meal was ruined by a lack of staff, our drinks took over 45 minutes to arrive and then food delivered by chef ( not waiting staff) and was burnt and hardly warm. Staff seemed a little scruffily dressed and some said they were agency and it seemed as if they had very little training. One particular member of staff who was struggling to cope with just 3 tables to serve, turning guests away saying she was fully booked. We decided to eat out the rest of our stay (lots of beautiful places to eat in St Ives). They seemed to be more concerned about weddings that happened 3 days out of our 5 nights stay, rather than hotel guests.
I visited the hotel as I was filming a wedding there so the fact that the wedding was taking place there was ideal. The views are spectacular (if lucky enough to get a sea view) and was ideally situated right next to the train station.
I’ve got to be honest. I found the staff to be the most disappointing aspect. On a number of occasions I had asked for simple things, an iron in particular as I needed to sort my suit for the wedding. I had pre arranged the evening before to have this delivered to my room - it didn’t arrive. I then requested it again in the morning for immediate delivery to my room - still didn’t arrive. By this point time was getting on and had to once again request this before it eventually arrived. The venue also tried to charge me for breakfast even though it was included in my booking. In terms of the hotel itself the room was extremely tiny. I could barely fit my kit in. Other than these inconveniences it was an ideal stay for me during work.
top of a hill was a bit difficult
Rien à part la localisation
Nullité du service Saleté générale Petit déjeuner effroyable
great location, spacious room, nice pool and spa
breakfast offered was continental, cooked was extra charge. Parking was unclear (car parked by staff). Fridge in room very small and barely cooled
Location
Most of the staff, were completely unhelpful. Upon requesting the car from valet parking, the member of staff got the car from the car park and left it in an illegally parked location, at a busy junction, well before the time it was requested. As a result, the side car has been scratched with a key by a member of the public, who has taken exception to the way it was parked!
Amazing Location, helpful staff.
Although the staff was very polite and hardworking, there was a serious shortage of personnel, which everyone (own personnel) was aware of and acknowledged. This is the worst breakfast I have ever encountered at a hotel in this price range. Unfortunately, other user reviews say the same thing. Furthermore—and this is a matter of company policy rather than something specific to the St. Ives branch—they charge an additional parking fee from the very first day of your stay, despite already having above-average room rates. For a hotel of this caliber, it is a somewhat unnecessary way to generate extra revenue.
Sehnt neues Flair, tolle Lage zum Meer.
Zimmer eher klein, Teppich wäre nicht sehr sauber.
Fabulous views, lovely room, excellent spa
Staff were willing but clearly had had no training. Service slow and common areas needed a good clean
The location was perfect and the view!
I know I am not the only guest to think the breakfast was disappointing. I’ve never had a cold buffet-style breakfast at a hotel where I’ve paid so much to stay the night. It’s usually a hot cooked buffet or a choice of cooked foods. Honestly, that’s the only point that dropped the score a little.
Fabulous location and view. Suite was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast included was good, with nice range of pastries, cereals, fruit etc. Cooked breakfasts available at extra cost. Spa pool and jacuzzi pleasant with balcony view as well. Parking was by valet which needed to check with reception to identify how to access, but once done was good.
Hotel dinner was erratic - same scallop dish starter had different number of scallops in each. One main out of four ordered didn’t arrive until further request made, so arrived much later.
Posizione eccezionale - stanza accogliente e pulita - colazione nella norma
Mancanza aria condizionata
Emplacement
Sale.
We love that its very near to the beach and city centre where you could walk around and buy some food and souvenirs.
The only thing is that i expected the hotel to be airconditioned , it was really hot during the night we had a big fan but i think because the weather was also hot.
Nydelig utsikt fra frokostrommet. Kjempebra vallet parking. Fint med barløsning. Hyggelig personale.
Beautiful hotel in a great location
Outside - The facilities were not looked after. Tables dirty , outside seating area filthy glasses not cleared away and tables not cleaned . Cushions dirty. Bedroom - staines on the carpet and cushions was a bit off putting. Sauna - again gorgeous setting but dirty outside . Staff needed to be more on it. Breakfast - staff were lovely but not able to work effectively when it was busy.
You pay primary for the fantastic views and great location. Hotel looks great and easy on the eye for first impressions and the balcony view and services, gentleman behind the bar, fantastic… as was the first impressions from the blonde lady that greeted me.
Breakfast service was a poor experience. Some issues with the room in terms of cold tap barely working and toilet door not being able to even close, let alone lock. As was there a very dated door lock on the room door, again pointless and had no function. The longer you stay, the more you notice these things, with overall apart from initial receptionist and barman, staff were poor. Windows were difficult to use, road noise and building work from the early hours, frustrating. But ending on an really bad experience of waiting near an hour for my car in order to leave (parking was also unclear to me on arrival - I must have missed the information on how it works and what to do). Whilst waiting in this time, having to repeatedly walk through reception with water coming through the ceiling and buckets an towels across the floor.
The spa was great with pool and saunas and the VIEW! The room was very comfortable, though a bit small. Nice materials and good looking. The terrace was great too. Very close to the railwaystation.
Breakfast was fine, I was missing though some greens like cucumber and tomatoes. The breakfast room was a pit tiny and so it created queue to get there and the staff was quite busy, so one needed to wait for coffee for example.
No hot water for two days. We had to complain for the staff to escalate the issue. Then hot water with no water pressure. Carpets in the room were not vacuumed once in our 6 day stay, for a beach hotel with no where else to wash your feet, it was pretty grim. The breakfast is one of the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. The SAME limited cereal and croissants everyday and a small fruit bowl to serve everyone. Location however is excellent.
Location
Clean. Location. Staff. Comfy bed.
No Air con. Road facing room noisy with the windows open. Requiring eye mask and ear plugs. Breakfast was very average, not bad, but I wouldn’t write home about it it.
Nothing
Everything poor staff attitude short staffed food below standard
The hotel was a short walk from the beach and town.
The pool could only be accessed by my granddaughter at limited short times, as children were not allowed in the pool most of the day. Mt granddaughter is 12 and sensible and a confident swimmer. The reception asked for our car keys to park our car.(which they kept throughout our stay). When we asked for our car, we witnessed the hotel driver smoking inside our car. We are non smokekers and this was not acceptable. We reported this to reception staff who advised they would speak to him. We had no further response. We the saw the same man pressing on a car bonnet to write a parking permit ticket to place in the car. There seemed no respect for others property. Breakfast was not a great selection. You needed to pay extra for hot food. When we settled the bill on departure we noticed we were charged for drinks at the bar...which were not ours. Disappointing!
Nice location. Nice view from hotel.
Room size small , Air conditioning was missing.
Great views.
Room was clean comfortable, but one side of bed was against a wall. Breakfast was not very good. Lots of tables not cleared away after people. Run out of glasses at the juice part. Waitress was very rude, but I think it was due to the fact they were struggling to cope. Had to wait for tea and coffee until after finishing breakfast and no cups to drink from. Same Waitress brought the two pots asked if we needed anything else and was told cups and then came back with one cup. Stayed at the Harbour hotel in Padstow had a great experience. In a different league in the restaurant as to St. Ives. (Service and food).
Location
Not being told that a wedding was being held on a week day night and being kept up until 1am from the music and guests!! Once we had got to sleep we were then woke up at 5ak from the recycling lorries! A very expensive and disappointing experience
The location was very good if you are after the quiet side and a beach
The staff were not trained properly in any area. Constantly getting simple breakfast orders wrong, or small requests were forgotten about. Our room smelled like damp, and the showers kept going ice cold. The girl working in the spa also told everyone it closed early so everyone could shower?
Me and my partner was walking around st ives and decided to go for a coffee. This was Sunday 2nd of August. We went down the steps to the bar though the door. I sat down to wait for our coffee. My partner came out and said that someone would bring it out. 20 minutes later no coffees was brought. My partner went back in to ask where the coffees was. My partner came from the bar and sat down. The bar lady came with the coffees and said immediately to my partner. Don’t you be rude to me I don’t get paid enough money. Even though me and my partner apologised. She kept on coming for us for at least 10 minutes and also got another guest involved. It was total chaos. It’s the first time I have ever experienced this in a hotel.
Everything was really good, as I've experienced previously there - amazing views, comfort, lovely spa facilities
Breakfast. This seemed quite disorganised the overnight I was there/ not quite up to normal standards. It took ages to be seated, to get a cup of tea, and then to get the correct tea I'd ordered rather than one I hadn't. I can only think it was because they'd had a wedding the night before and there weren't enough staff on for the breakfasts. As it was my only night there I'd really wanted to make the most of the spa facilities before checking and would have preferred breakfast to have not taken quiet so long. But probably this was a one-off as I've not had this experience on previous stays. Everything else in the hotel was great.
View of the harbour is amazing. HarSpa was very good and got 20% when we booked online the day before. Ocean suite room was huge. Short walk to town.
Outside spaces needs some maintenance. We couldnt use the balcony because the decking was shedding paint and the seat covers had been left out so were covered in bird poo.
Cleanliness was an issue. Maintenance staff tried hard but played losing battle to the seagulls which left the cushion seats on the patio ( Velcro no longer working) unpleasant to use. Staff were mixed. Some were extremely good others followed the ‘computer says no’. Dog owners are welcomed but there are insufficient restrictions on where the dogs can defecate. We witnessed some owners who clearly were of the view that their animals were the most important things in the world, allow them to openly defecate on the one open small lawn at the back of the hotel, even though , the dog friendly beach was an easy walk 100 metres away. Some picked up the droppings ( but of course not all of them) whilst others just walked away. This lawn was used. By families who had very small toddles who were crawling to come into direct contact with the dirtied sites. When we brought this to receptions notice, the response was “We’ll have to look into that”. When we arrived for our short break, there was a previously unannounced wedding taking place. This of course severely restricted our usage of the hotel facilities which were closed to paying guests. The same occurred on our last evening when we had asked to have a meal in the hotel. We were told that areas of the hotel were closed to hotel guests as they were hosting an end of school Gala Event for students . Once again, there had been no previous advance notification. We had left using the hotel dining room evening fare for the last evening so we’re very fortunate to find a late ding booking elsewhere at short notice. The alternative would have been pizza or fish and chips on the harbour wall. Not at all what we had in mind. The only saving Grace for this hotel is its SPA unit which is okay.
It was beautiful and great location in terms of the beach.
Should have an aircon at this price point but the air flow through the room was good enough. Pretty long walk from town center.
Location and rooms were beautiful but bathrooms need updating as shower and bath were tired
The location was amazing. Staff were friendly Rooms were really nice
Location, breakfast, room set up,
Wifi was extremely weak and we couldnt even watch any games.
Proximity to railway station.
Cleanliness. Maintenance staff tried hard but played a losing battle to the seagulls. Staff were mixed. Some were extremely good and did a great job, others were followed the ‘computer says no’ line. Dog owners are welcomed but there is no control over where dogs are allowed to defecate . Some individuals allowed their animals to defecate where toddlers crawled on free public space when there was a close by dog walker beach are park area. We arrived to an unannounced wedding. This restricted our use of the hotel on day 1 and on our last evening areas of the hotel were again closed to public use for a local school prom event. Effectively half of our break was left with large areas of the hotel unavailable to us.
Location was great, arrival reception lady with long blonde hair was really good and all breakfast staff were really good too.
The lady on reception when we checked out wasn’t very good at all, totally different experience to the blonde lady that checked us in. She hardly spoke….had no personality at all, reception is a very important part of customer service. Also the breakfast staff uniforms look really old and need replacing.
near the beach
The room was expensive, considering there was no ventilation and it was located next to a noisy road. It was really weird and I am not talking about cooling, but ventilation- specifically, the min airflow that should be exhausted via the bathroom.
Lovely big room with amazing view over the sea, great swimming pool and jacuzzi, friendly staff, lovely bar and restaurant, restaurant food at dinner was excellent, gorgeous sandy beach with very clean water and nice cafes near by.
The window only opens an inch or two, to keep the seagulls out, so the room was a bit stuffy during the heat wave, even with a fan. The shower dripped for ages after using it, very noisy, taps need some WD40.
Gute Lage, freundliches Personal
Schmuddelig, ringhörig,
Spa Bereich
Die Kellner waren unfreundlich und schlecht gekleidet. Massenabfertigung ohne Charme.
Also unbedingt Zimmer mit Meersicht buchen.
Check in was good, we had booked a spa session, and they very helpfully rescheduled it for us as we had been stuck in traffic. Staff were exceptional throughout. Lunch and breakfasts were very pleasant, and bar staff very friendly.
The room was tiny for the money and even though a fan was provided, the room was stifling hot at night. Didn’t get the best night’s sleep but thankfully traffic noise was not an issue even though we were street facing.
Location, views and staff were excellent
Emplacement La vue
Staff were so friendly and efficient. Excellent views from the breakfast room.
Nothing!
Super Lage, tolle Terrasse
Eierspeisen mussten extra bezahlt werden
The location was excellent, overlooking the beach. Your front desk staff were terrific! Professional and welcoming - thank you Eric, Keir and all the young ladies in Reception. We loved the property and I’ve taken time to write this review because I’ve learnt the hard way how important it is to check really thoroughly. Bit smoke and mirrors. So many forms of disability, some just temporary.
Although lovely for travellers with no health issues, it didn’t quite deliver as a ‘disability’ friendly hotel. Couldn’t access spa/pool/salon treatments as tiny lift didn’t reach it and spiral staircase not a good thing for me. Perhaps trivial but I’d booked a Sunday roast lunch treat weeks earlier for my husband the day before we were due to leave. Not until we were shown to our table were we told roast lunch wasn’t happening.
Although this was a beautiful stunning picturesque village, the downside is the road system and parking! We went on a Wednesday to avoid weekend traffic and it was a nightmare, very small roads and limited parking, def worth a visit, but park further out and take a bus in.
Clean. Well furnished. Nice staff. Great pool and spa.
Room (114) was very tight spaces.
The rooms were beautifully decorated and the view from the hotel is stunning.
Nothing not to like, will definitely be returning.
Location
Room 401 far too hot, no fan in the room which is not good when ur in the attic rooms. When I mentioned the heat in the room I got a very short sharp response about “nothing they can do about the heat”(maybe provide a fan in 34 degree heat)!!! Two steps up to shower and shower too small for size of bathroom. Lift didn’t go to 4th floor and no offer of help with cases…not good when u have mobility issue. Patio was a little shabby. Bar server didn’t know how to make an espresso martini even tho there is a cocktail menu.
Easy to find, great views from restaurant and terrace. Rooms were well appointed.
Room was at the back of the hotel looking at a brick wall and airless. We asked to move and the replacement room was brighter but was smaller and on the top floor. There was 1 small lift and if the doors were not closed properly by the previous user it was stuck. The hotel is called the Harbour but it is a long way from the harbour or the centre of town up a very steep hill. Parking was awkward, there was a drop off area opposite the hotel then staff would drive your car to the off-site car park and when you needed your car the would return it to the drop-off area. We were told to give 10 minutes notice but when we needed the car it was 25-30 minutes before we were able to start off.

nice welcome
room a bit small
The view from the hotel was stunning and was a short walk ( although down hill! ) to the town . There were parking facilities which is essential in St Ives . The outdoor seating area was really nice with an amazing view . The staff were very helpful . The dining room had a great view as well and we had two nice meals there . The spa and pool are great and you can sit outside and see the sea . We had a lovely room with a good view but no balcony
On arriving reception staff weren’t very friendly which was a pity as all the other staff were lovely . It is a quite a long walk to the beach and going back is all up hill

Great to have a Harbour Hotel in St Ives. Comfortable stay and good value out of season. The town was surprisingly busy - even on a Monday evening! Will return.
Excellent breakfast with excellent staff, particularly the chap in charge who was very helpful
Not easy to open windows in our room
The lication was perfect. On the first day of our stay there was a good availability of the various items. Service was prompt. However on the second morning there was distinct lack of items on display, the coffee and tea were very slow to arrive. Not what you would expect for a hotel of the Harbour quality.
There was a stain on the mattress protector and was only changed when i complained. The complimentary gin was less than a single each and i would rather they didnt bother than offer such a small offer. In the past the decanters were half filled. We dont need that but if you do something do it right or not at all.
Lage des Hotels war sehr schön. Etwas außerhalb, aber fußläufig zur Innenstadt.
Service am Empfang und im Restaurant. Schlecht organisiert. Falsche Abrechnung. Wenig zuvorkommend.
