Exotic
Access to a communal terrace, the staff were excellent and responsive and respectful, breakfast food was very good and the bar is fun.
The rooms are too small and cramped, the overall decore is very dark and not meant for daytime use. The room i was allocated didnt jave space to lay down my suitcase to open it .. let alone two suitcases for a couple. The staff were great and arranged for us to move to a bigger room that had a wooden uncomfortable sofa and table and one small closet. I feel the concept of their hotel style is outdated and needs a redesign. I will not be staying here again.
It's a beautiful hotel in a good location. It has unique design and features. The staff were friendly. They offer a complimentary drink in the bar and the rooms have a well stocked mini bar.
Unfortunately, the soundproofing for the rooms is not very good. This was especially a problem at night in the Terrace room where you could hear the music in the bar to the early hours of the morning. I'm assuming this is only a weekend but something to keep in mind when booking
Very interesting decor and atmosphere
Nothing springs to mind
A tropical oasis in the centre of London! Fantastic cocktail bar and lots of private spaces to relax in.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Excellent location, great decor, lovely staff. We did have to wait 40 minutes or more for breakfast on both days, which is the only thing holding this back from full marks. To be clear the front of house staff were warm, kind and very capable. It seems to be more of a kitchen capacity issue.
Great hotel in central location - all staff encounter were superb . Rooms very comfortable & well maintained. The hotel was spotless
What I did not like on checking out was being told there was a “service charge “ payable for all rooms on top of the agreed price paid in advance . £32 charged as this additional charge. This isn’t mentioned on Booking.com nor was it mentioned when checking in. I find this extremely underhand & sneaky
Amazing rooms and bar, calm but dramatic!!
Nothing- it was perfect for our taste
Stunning hotel to escape too in central London.
I think that the room service menu for dinner and lunch could have a few more options.
I had the most incredible birthday stay at The Mandrake on the 7th of August! From the moment we arrived, the team went completely above and beyond to make my celebration feel extra special and romantic. They surprised us in our room with a deeply thoughtful, custom zodiac birthday card and a bottle of champagne. It was such a beautiful, personal touch that showed they truly care about the details. We also had dinner at their restaurant, YOPO, where the hospitality was absolutely amazing. When my partner was accidentally served a cold steak, the staff handled it flawlessly. While we waited for the kitchen, they immediately brought us a complimentary drink to enjoy. The chef then personally came out to our table to apologize, bringing us a stunning, complimentary scallops in a shell dish alongside a brand-new, hot steak for my partner. Turning a small slip-up into such a stellar experience completely blew us away. To top it all off, we had a beautiful breakfast the next morning which capped off the perfect trip. The service across the entire hotel is genuinely unmatched. I would definitely be coming back, and if you want to celebrate a special occasion where you are treated like royalty, this is the place to go. I cannot recommend it enough!
Staff were very helpful, first class service
Breakfast slightly cold on arrival to room but very tasty
Everything
Nothing
The rudest staff I have encountered in 40 years of my traveling experience. The information and photos on the website are inaccurate. The breakfast service is terrible! The only thing accurate about the hotel is its location!
aardig personeel
erg gehorige kamers, ontbijt waren veel dingen er niet, bar had dingen niet op voorraad
Lovely quirky different hotel in central London. Thank you to staff that made our 1st wedding night so special.
L'atmosfera e lo staff Reception e Ristorante
Il servizio al bar...praticamente il cliente viene abbandonato e trascurato per guardare lo smartphone o perché non hanno voglia di lavorare...
We booked the hotel last minute as we’re in London to see a show. The hotel decor is unique and special. Staff were extremely welcoming ans helpful especially Sebastian at front desk and the young lady who served us for breakfast - I’m sorry I didn’t get her name. Speaking of breakfast, it was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had! The room was lovely and good size and had access to to the balcony overlooking the courtyard, really nice. We just wished we’re staying longer. There on my downfall was the bar service at night, not very attentive for drinks and atmosphere was lacking. However it did look like was filling up as we went to bed. Would definitely like to return in the future.
The Mandrake is an incredibly unique property - it’s like an oasis hidden away behind its generic London street front facade. Every staff member I encountered was incredibly professional, welcoming and helpful. I loved my stay there!
I genuinely enjoy visiting The Mandrake for drinks, which makes today's experience even more disappointing. I spent almost £30 on a single glass of champagne, only to be met with staff behind the bar who showed little to no interest in serving me. Instead, I had to stand there listening to members of the bar team carry out a stock take while completely ignoring my presence. When I arrived, I was the only person in the bar, so there really is no excuse for the level of service I received. To then be charged a service charge on top of an already premium price, without delivering a premium experience, is frankly unacceptable. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident my last three visits have all been similarly quiet, yet the service has consistently fallen short. It's disappointing because there are plenty of venues in Mayfair where you receive a far better welcome, attentive service and genuine hospitality for the same, if not better, value. What a disappointing way to start my birthday celebrations. I won't be rushing back.
Quirky art hotel. Gothic feel. Staff were 1st class at all levels. Lovely room clean and well priced. Met friends elsewhere so only had breakfast which was beautifully made and presented
Location is hard to beat. Whether you're a seasoned Londoner or visiting for a weekend, you're right in the middle of the action at the Mandrake, walkable to just about everywhere - but also in the quiet and calm when you need to be.
The TV didn't work properly
The staff were amazing. Professional, playful, they made you feel like you were on the inside of their clique. They clearly have fun at work and enjoy taking care of people and building a culture. I also liked the weekend party atmosphere. The cheeseboard was amazing and the overall vibe of the hotel was sexy. The decor is plush and well put together, especially in the social areas. The location is amazing.
The TV system was buggy, it was Wimbledon and world cup quarter finals, my wife had to pump in the hotel room and we missed significant sporting moments. In addition, the fridge rattled like crazy at night, enough to keep you up. The air con was not responsive, the thermostat was not calibrated correctly, it seemed to be either on or off. We made these complaints at check out and no discount or attempt at tangible recompense was offered. Whilst the decor is plush, the room was high concept but the quality of the execution was not quite there. This might sound critical, but I've been fortunate enough to enjoy many premium hotels, such as banyan tree in al ula, or the ned more locally. The Mandrake is just outright overpriced for what it offers. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but you're paying for the concept, and in my opinion the hotel doesn't stack up to others in the price range.
Nothing very dirty terrace Tv mirroring never works Room is boring
Dirty terrace Tv mirroring never works Room is boring Not worth 5*. Rating
The design is genuinely unlike anywhere else in London. The hanging garden courtyard and Jurema Terrace are the real showpiece, and it’s rare to get that kind of green, calm outdoor space this central. The staff were warm and attentive throughout, the kind who remember your name and make things easy. Location is ideal too: tucked away enough to feel quiet, but a few minutes from Oxford Street, Soho and the Elizabeth Line. The bar and breakfast were both a cut above
The one thing worth knowing is that the hotel doubles as a nightlife destination at weekends, with a DJ in the bar Thursday to Saturday. Depending on your room, the noise carries until the early hours, so it’s worth requesting a quieter room away from the bar if you’re after an early night. The rooms also run on the smaller side, though that’s fairly standard for central London.
Lieux unique, à la desc déganté rock’n roll j’ai adoré. Le personnel est adorable. Chambre super bien équipé, les produits de bain sont de qualité et très agréable.
Rien, j’ai tout aimé.
Location in Fitzrovia is ideal for central London.
The design of the hotel is so over the top and creepy that is not really comfortable. Very trendy and full of posers.
cool design and style
The outside seating
Very dead and quiet not many people

Fantastic location Quirky Fantastic customer service Great spa and bar!
Na
This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a negative review, which should say everything. I arrived well-presented, polite, and respectful, expecting a professional standard in return. Instead, I was turned away under the excuse of a “private event” — yet it was very clear from what followed that this was not being applied consistently. The experience left me with a strong and deeply uncomfortable impression that the real reason for refusal was not what I was told. It’s difficult to ignore how this felt, particularly when you conduct yourself properly and are treated in a way that suggests otherwise. If you’re going to operate a selective door policy, at least have the honesty and professionalism to be transparent about it. Overall, a very disappointing and unsettling experience. I won’t be returning, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before visiting.
Ich war allein im Hotel - eine Sondersituation - nehme ich an
An einem Abend war die Bar nicht geöffnet
The lobby stinks. There's something wrong with the smell in the lobby. The staff are great. The first room was supposed to have a terrace that was blocked so I was moved. It's expensive for the size of the room and the amenities. I basically slept there but did not want to hang around the hotel.
The lobby and the size of the rooms
Location and staff Restaurant is brilliant
It’s a bit tired and needs an uplift The spa was disappointing
Had a lovely time at The Mandrake it’s full of mystery and charm. The customer service was excellent, with a special thank you to Sebastien from South America at the front desk. He brought great vibes and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay.
I had wonderful stay at the mandrake. the staff were friendly and welcoming especially Marlon who showed us the room , the room was clean comfortable , and the facilities were excellent. the location was also very convenient. I would definitely stay again .
WOW! The vibe of the hotel is off the charts. Staff are super friendly, they all make you feel comfortable being there, and Rahela from reception went above and beyond to make us feel special as it was my partners birthday... champagne in the room, discount for spa, nothing was too hard no matter how demanding our requests were... The hotel is just so beautiful. We were stunned by the depth of thought put into creating this whole space, and on top of that everything has a spiritual meaning (they also do sound healing sessions, reiki..you name it). We tried Origin Pool and mud caves in spa and experience in the pool was on a soul level. Me and my partner went through so many emotions, it was quite healing. I have seen other people's reviews and they mentioned it is not really family friendly hotel and if you do the research you will understand what you're booking (as things are quite obvious on their website) and that this is a perfect escape for couples - nothing wrong with it, we absolutely loved it. It just like any other adults only resort you would go to but with a twist. We will be back to hotel for sure! Things I would highlight as the best: interior is stunning + their Jurema terrace, perfect for art lovers as they have lots of artwork from famous artists, DAMU spa (Origin pool), food in the restaurant, place is fully instagramable, staff super friendly, clean and tidy everywhere, fast WiFi, they have DJ on weekends...and so much more.
Had a lovely experience at Mandrake—beautiful atmosphere and great attention to detail throughout. A special thanks to Elena from reception, who was warm, professional, and made everything so easy from the start. Would definitely recommend!
La déco, l’accueil, l’emplacement, l’ambiance des soirées, la propreté tout était formidable , nous avons passé un moment exceptionnel. Bref ne pas hésiter!!
Everything! Funky, eclectic. Good service.
Nothing.
Great hotel, lovely terrace room with well stocked bar. Fab shower and comfy bed. Brilliant friendly room service. Uber cool bar.
Leaving to go home
The hotel is beautiful and radiates such a calm vibe. The staff were friendly and made fantastic cocktails at the bar. Our terrace room was lovely and clean with a well stocked minibar. We can't wait to go back.

Absolute scam hotel tried to take 150 per night for mini bar which I wouldnt even use!!!! Place was mega dark and dank and I would have been horified what it looked like under UV. It was also attached to a seedy looking club next door
Everything. It was a scam and booking.com had to get invvolved and refund the booking after they tried to change the contract and scam me a bunch for a deposit! Reception were rude, confrontation and agressive to try bully me into paying their extortionate deposits.
Everything
cool hotel and great decor
restaurant was cold. A/C didnt work properly in the room
Quirky & special, unlike any other.
It’s boujie and aesthetically pleasing
Passively overpriced for the basic small rooms. Nothing special about the rooms at all. Some facilities available in the room didn’t work and the wooden floor was marked, making it look dirty. The bed was average.
I attended the Cocoa Ceremony mid November after being gifted the session. We arrived into a freezing room and were asked to collect our own Tarot card and was then instructed to read our own Tarot from a book. The instructor Kate, noted that the room was freezing and advised us to wrap up. We were placed in a room next to the toilets where we were expected to listen to all the drunk clients from a private function pass back and forth, often in groups shouting during the sound healing. Mid ceremony we were served a mouthful of stone cold Cacoa. As someone who suffers with Reynolds Syndrome, I would not have booked it, had I known in advance that I would be expected to lay in an incredibly cold room for an hour and a half and given a cold drink. The event organizer did not provide a refund via Event Brite when I originally requested it immediately after the event. It took over two months of back and forth emailing to receive one today; ridiculously so, as it is considered to be a five star establishment.
I love this hotel and the bar has such a cool vibe. The location is super central
Amazing hotel
Fantastic staff
Very cool decor and bar, but rooms were plain and basic. Nice bathrooms.
Poor service and plain rooms. Only had breakfast on one day out of three because it was so bad. Some items burnt others still fridge cold.
The room was very small and we had expected a lot more for the money.
It was very overpriced compared to other hotels we stay in in london such as Sanderson, Mayfair and lanesborough
style and staff
it was all good
Чистый и комфортный отель.
Такого нет. Все идеально
Very clean and very nice staff, they gave us a free upgrade. Really made us like vip guests
Have nothing bad to say
Fab location, friendly staff/team members.
Description misleading! I got the room because it has a terrace and I love fresh air/daylight. What was not mentioned was that it was shared with a few other rooms! I had to keep my curtains drawn throughout my stay (keeping daylight out) because anyone passing could see in the room - no privacy! Soundproofing was non existant. Room small and a far cry from the photos. In the evening lighting was very poor and at times felt unsafe.
Love the atmosphere , staff is super cool and helpful👌🏼
With renovation work in our house we had to find a one night stay in London. We chose The Mandrake and it was perfect. Incredibly helpful staff, great atmosphere chilled during the day and lively in the evening. The big surprise was the quality of the food in the restaurant. I have been to the bar a few times, which is always lively, but not eaten in the restaurant. With so many alternatives nearby to chose from the decision to eat in was not an easy one to make. But it was perfect. Given the focus on design aesthetic and music you could imagine the food would take second priority but it was excellent. Eclectic South American menu and fantastic staff. Recommend it
We stayed at the Mandrake for my sister’s wedding. It was spectacularly fabulous and absolutely out of the ordinary. The discreet entrance and moody foyer give way to one chic yet charming space after another. Accommodating staff and waiters facilitated a truly indulgent experience. And the location provided access to a vibey metropolitan scene. Hotel rooms were perfectly appointed.
Beautiful art filled moody hotel. Absolutely loved the place. Beds super comfortable. Service was fantastic walkable to shopping and nightlife. Highly recommended
I simply loved The Mandrake in London. In early October, two friends of mine had an intimate commitment ceremony at this magical hotel. I decided to book my room there to be central to all of the activities. I had seen pictures on the website of the place and was so thrilled to have ended up in a room that perfectly fit my vibe and resembled what I saw online. The room was.cozy, clean and stylish. Amazing art adorned the walls, the bed was so comfortable, the walls a moody black (not all rooms are painted dark so if you want this request a room with this color palette). I saw other rooms too, as I had friends and loved ones who had booked here as well. All had their own special vibe. The hotel rooms are off a central interior courtyard so you can sit outside and see the stars while in the hotel. There is a nice bar on the first floor as well as a restaurant that has a great breakfast. Try the Eggs Florentine. As strange as it sounds, check out the restrooms downstairs. The sinks are so cool. It's also worth mentioning that The Mandrake is near quite a few shops and great restaurants, and is on a block with many art galleries. I loved my time at The Mandrake. I will definitely be back. Thanks to all of the lovely staff that also made my experience a great one. I truly loved my stay here.
My husband and I stayed @ The Mandrake where our friends (Maia & Troy) stayed/got married and had the BEST time. We had a beautiful room with a shared terrace and the atmosphere/location/service were perfect!
The Mandrake is beyond a hotel—it’s an experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re transported into a world that feels part art gallery, part dreamscape. The design is this mesmerizing blend of gothic glamour, art-deco elegance, and mystical beauty—like ethereal meets vampire chic in the best possible way. The drinks are divine, the food spectacular, and the service impeccable—warm, attentive, and effortlessly cool. I’ve stayed in some incredible places, but truthfully, The Mandrake is the most visually and emotionally stunning hotel I’ve ever seen. It’s a place that awakens your senses and stays with you long after you leave.
The locations excellent , for food , shopping , gyms , transport , events , theatre , art . The hotel entrance is like an entrance to German techno club Bergheim or art installation , even the entrance is an experience . The steam room is excellent , quite hot , the cocktails , food , vibe etc it’s all impecable really . They even had gong healing meditation and reiki . Just wow . I loved it .
One niggly thing . The steam room is included for hotel guests but if one wants to use the salt scrub or mud that’s in the steam room area that’s an extra £120 and well that’s got to change . There’s a floatation tank for another £120 & not a pool so if the only thing the guests can use is the steam room , well then guests really shouldn’t be charged £120 for that .
Beautiful hotel, however disappointed with the bar closing very early for such an establishment. I upgraded to the best suite as the terrace rooms were small for the price. If you are charging £600 + for a small room, then you expect all of the communal areas ie bar to be open later. The barman informed me they would stop serving cocktails at 2130 !!!! The Mandrake suite was very nice but the room needs to be checked before hand to make sure it’s all in good order. Telephone didn’t work, one TV didn’t work, radio didn’t work, bathrobes missing, drench shower broken . For what is quite a hefty price I expect these things to be perfect .
Bar closing early, a lot of details in an expensive room where not checked to make sure they are working.
Great spot, def will be back. Only disappointment/ complaint was that the restaurant and terrace bar were not open any of the days during my stay.
This is a fun hotel to stay at for a nice weekend. Super unique with amazing staff, accommodations that are comfortable and delicious food with a cool bar setup. Shoutout to the staff that helped wrangle in a wild room next door, late in the night.
Overall super satisfied with the vibes of this place and the exceptional service provided by the Simone! I would definitely come back!
BIEN SITUÉ Qualité moyenne sans plus
On m’a demandé des frais de service non prévus C’était un pourboire déguisé , le service était de base sans plus et non exceptionnel.
Everything about it was fantastic !
unique quirky great vibe
My husband booked the Mandrake for a 1 night break. On arriving, we were early and our room was ready so they allowed us to check in which was great. The room was small but very clean and we liked the styling, the shower was great. The problem came when we arrived back in the hotel at 11.30pm to find it was a very loud night club which could clearly be heard from our room until after 1am. We also had to push our way through a crowded bar to get to our room. When we checked out this morning, we said it was rather loud and the receptionist said “yes, room 16 is quite loud on a weekend”. We were never told this on booking or on checking in. We wouldn’t have chosen this hotel had we known. Also on checking out we were told there was a hotel service charge of £28 to pay, surely his should be part of your original room charge. Over all, disappointing.
Tolle Bar, stylisches Hotel
From the moment we entered the hotel we were met with kindness and love. Has to be the most stylish hotel in London. The cocktails and selection at the bar were beautiful. The food was incredibly well thought out and tasted beautiful. Unbelievable decor, incredible customer service and a weekend I will remember for the rest of my life. To Sim and the team, big love from J & T. Thank you for everything
