The room was stuffy Bathroom sink was blocked and I wonder if they don’t check rooms before the guests check in?? They made a copy of my ID.. saying it’s their procedure, it was the first time being asked for a copy of an ID by BNB.

The view was spectacular from the balcony. The guesthouse was a bit further away from the beach than expected, but still well situated from the main shops. Breakfast was great. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Overall a very pleasant stay.

The room was not serviced over the weekend we were there.

The staff were welcoming. The beach and shops are within walking distance. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. The garden and pool were awesome to relax and explore in. The staff in general were non intrusive, extremely polite and accommodating.

Breakfast was too late and should start at 06:00am as I was travelling for business. No hairdryer. No complimentary bottled water. Milk in my room was not replaced for the following day. No good coffee. No dinner option.

Parking is tricky, everything comes at a price, we couldn’t get an iron and had to take every single thing to the laundry for ironing .

This is my 2nd time at Ushaka Manor Guest House, and I still only have good things to say. From the beautiful room and facilities to the friendly and helpful staff I would recommend this place to anyone. 10/10 I will be coming back again

Excellent location in a quiet place, 15 minutes from the beach and 5-10 minutes to the city center, shops and restaurants. Delicious breakfast, large rooms and all kind of conveniences. Very nice welcoming hosts.

There are a couple of important things to highlight about my stay: When I arrived, I was escorted to my room by a staff member. The room had a bar fridge stocked with refreshments and snacks, but at no point did anyone (not the receptionist nor the staff member) explain that these came at an additional cost. Naturally, I assumed that in a 5-star rated guest house, these would be complimentary. At checkout, I was suddenly told I owed over R1,500 for consuming items from the fridge. To make matters worse, the receptionist called the same staff member (a cleaner, not even front desk staff) to “confirm” if she had explained the charges. The poor woman looked visibly uncomfortable and intimidated, and eventually said she had explained it—though she clearly hadn’t. I felt bad for her, and I paid the fee simply to avoid putting her job at risk. This was highly unprofessional and felt like a deliberate scam. On top of that, when I asked for a late checkout of just two hours to take a work call, the admin lady initially tried to charge me another R1,500. Only after I pushed back did she reduce it to R300—again, very questionable. The breakfast was also extremely disappointing: limited options, poor quality, and certainly not what you’d expect from a supposed 5-star guest house. Overall, this was one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. What’s advertised as a luxury 5-star establishment feels more like a scam. Book at your own risk

Location is good, but…

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. The room was infested with cockroaches—I found multiple cockroaches on the bedroom desk and in the bathroom. The lack of cleanliness was absolutely disgusting. Since I checked in late, I only noticed the cockroaches around 1 a.m., when it was too late to address the issue. The next morning, at check-out, I informed the staff and requested a partial refund of 50% of the room rate given the unacceptable conditions. To my disappointment, the staff dismissed my complaint by questioning why I didn’t report it the night before, suggesting that my delayed complaint meant I was satisfied with the room. This response was unprofessional and completely unreasonable. No guest should have to tolerate such unsanitary conditions, regardless of the time. Paying 1,300 ZAR for a cockroach-infested room is unjustifiable. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never return.

Best pet friendly guest house. Very clean, with friendly staff. Lovely linen and towels.

Very minor oversights like safe never worked (after asking), had to request room carpets, normal coffee not refilled (only decaf), milk forgotten. Also, not suited for weak, infirm Travellers as there are lots of steps, and no baggage assistance (yes, it's a guest house, not a hotel)

Great location and a lovely, well-kept property. The room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was decent, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. I stayed with my daughter and felt comfortable during our stay.

The room was close to the entrance, so it was a bit noisy at times, and parking was slightly tricky.

I Checked up late because I was still caught up with work. The staff waited for me an extra few minutes. The bed was energizing and the breakfast was awesome.
