The bed was comfortable, the shower was brilliant and really powerful. The chef and kitchen/dining staff went to great effort to make sure there was plenty for me to eat with all my allergies. It is the best hotel I have stayed at for a long time. Would happily stay again.

Great staff, lovely food and location

Bed was a little soft for us and the cost of dinner was x2.5 the cost of local establishments. So, wasn’t good value even though excellent food.

Beautifully decorated, very comfortable, friendly staff, delicious food, excellent location. Lovely little touches showed the care that is taken here - such as a jar of gluten free cookies for me because I am a coeliac. So thoughtful and much appreciated.

Everything was high quality. the room was lovely. the staff were excellent. breakfast was really good too.

There was a good choice of breakfast the staff accommodated preference changes good quality food cooked well.Evening meal was of a very good standard. The welcome to the hotel was friendly and thorough. Comfortabe bed. The information on the history of the building and the cookies in the jar were a nice touch.

A bit strange that for this grade of hotel there was no one on site after 9.00pm when a full evening menu was offered we had invited local friends to dine with us on the Saturday evening.(who also thought it was odd). Although beautifully decorated with a lovely en-suite the space in the room was a little tight for manouvering round and unpacking. I would ask for a bigger room if we stayed again.

The location is great for exploring Alnwick and has been beautifully designed. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and luxurious. The cookie in the room was a lovely touch.

Room quite small so tea tray in closet. No fridge so had to go downstairs to get fresh milk.

Wat beviel minder, jonge bediening in het restaurant geen verstand van wijn en dus ook geen advies. Tafels en vloer plakten maar waren wel schoon.

This is a wonderful hotel in every respect: staff (especially fabulous), food, location, cleanliness, facilities. It has a fascinating history, still respected today, wonderful decor and so comfortable. Can highly recommend!

Very different, very traditional. Loved the quiet lounge area. Stayed for dinner. Very good, clearly it was cooked for you, not a reconstituted or microwaved ready meal (common in most places now).

Pleased with everything.

Warm friendly welcome and shown around the property on arrival. All the staff were wonderfully warm and helpful. Excellent choices for breakfast, could not ask for better. Evening dinner was also excellent. Many dishes to choose from the menu. Our room was superb, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed in the way of toiletries, towels and robes. Lovely outside terrace, It was our anniversary and the staff had a chilled bottle of fizz and lovely card in our room on our arrival. Beautiful touch.

The Cookie Jar was everything we could have hoped for: lovely people; welcoming and relaxed vibe; tastefuly designed and quite luxurious; attention to detail with unexpected little things ( eg: fresh milk for inroom tea, and a mini cafetiere with fresh coffee; homemade cookies; fresh air from the sash windows), aswell as really important things: a brilliant shower, comfy bed; quiet room without any noise from the other guests, (despite the very old, historic, building). The food was great too!

No complaints. Our double room was a little bit small, but that's fine for one night, and the positives more than made up for it.

We really appreciated the warmth and friendliness of the staff. They were very helpful whenever we had questions about the area, and their genuine smiles really made a good impression. They were happy to store our luggage until the room was ready. The room was beautiful, and the bed was comfortable. The curtains did a good job of preventing the morning light. We enjoyed the french press/ coffee in the room. Additionally, they provided oat milk ( I am dairy-free) for my coffee in the downstairs communal fridge. I thought that was very thoughtful. The staff was just so great!

The cookies offered weren't that great. They had hardly any chocolate in them and were stale/ dry. It is a nice thought, but the execution was poor. Also, we were under the impression the hotel had AC (at least window units), but our rooms didn't work. It was very hot, but they did provide fans. The hallway/ stairwell had a lot of dead bugs on the ground that never got vacuumed up. The lobby always had incredibly potent-smelling essential oils/candles burning. It was too strong a smell. Nothing too crazy, though; we would definitely stay there again.

We had bedroom overlooking main road wth no net curtains or window screening. Whilst using bathroom or bedroom to undress etc we had to draw the curtains for privacy . There was no staff after 9.30pm on the premises so no opportunity to have an evening drink in the lounge. The hairdryer plug was round the corner from the mirror & no table to use while drying hair. Finally no fridge in the room to keep milk/ drinks cool. The room was of ample size to accommodate one. The hotel has very pretty decor & the breakfast was of good quality ingredients but for the price they charge for a nights stay £300+ I didn’t think it was value for money

The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. Our room was quite spacious and spotlessly clean. The room was serviced each day (on request), and this was done thoroughly. Breakfast was outstanding: an excellent range of items on offer including the best fruit salad we've ever had! The location could not be better for entry to the castle and, a few minutes beyond that, reaching the town centre. There are many local restaurants. We would recommend Leo.

Not the hotel's fault, but the need to move the car during the day to comply with parking restrictions was a bit irksome. However, the hotel staff readily offered advice, and free on street parking was available close by. There was no problem with parking outside the hotel overnight until 10am the next day.

Interesting place that used to belong to the nuns, that has been beautifully and tastefully turned into a hotel. Easy walk to Alnwick Castle. Lovely big rooms, delightful dining room for breakfast, really great staff. Helpful, friendly, wishing to make your stay a memorable and good one.

I wanted to stay longer!

Location is fantastic, 1 minute walk to the castle gates. Almost all staff we've met was lovely and welcoming. Wery nice lounge zone and cozy little garden

We've met 5 members of hotel staff, and 4 of them were absolutely brilliant and nice. Although, one young lady was rude, arrogant and unprofessional. I don't know if she had anything personally towards us or was just frustrated with something in general, but each interaction with her was painful and a little embarassing. Our room was on top floor and although it was around 20 degrees and cold wind outside, inside the room was boiling hot and the windows had stoppers so we could not open them wider than 10cm. As a result we left earlier than expected.

Lovely property with original features and beautiful gardens in a great location. The staff can’t do enough for you and make your staff perfect. A special mention to Louise on reception and the lady serving breakfast (I didn’t catch her name) both went out of their way to make your stay everything you wanted and needed it to be. The breakfast was also exceptional.

The room was a little small for the money paid but was perfectly formed will all the necessary amenities.

This was an exceptionally fine boutique hotel. Brilliant interior design and right in the middle of town so most places walkable. Great food and friendly staff. There’s a lovely garden and patio and overnight parking outside.

Beautiful boutique hotel with lots of lovely personal touches. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Best hotel breakfasts I’ve had for a long time. Cosy guest lounge. Great location just by Alnwick Castle. So much to do and see in the area will definitely be back.

Just note that our third floor room had two low beams for any guest above 5’ 8” or so. This isn’t obvious from photo or room description and needed a bit of avoidance! However the room was cozy and extremely comfortable

Location was excellent

The room was very small and unbearably hot. We did complain and asked to be moved but no other available rooms. We were given a fan but it was very noisy and had to turn it off. We got no sleep the whole time due to the temperature of the room. The ceiling very low so explained heat and window only opened a fraction. Such a shame as a lovely hotel. Thus spoiled our stay and it had a terrible view. Think very unlucky with the room given.

The service was outstanding. The staff serving us both lunch and breakfast made the trip more enjoyable, being both friendly and prompt when taking our orders. We both agreed the lunch and breakfast were delicious, and there were lots of choices appealing to everybody. The room was clean, comfortable and the finishing touches (cookies and treats for our dog) were appreciated.

The owners have thought of every luxury possible. Freshly made cookies in the room, great choice of current magazines in every room and public space. Fresh flowers at the tables, gorgeous decoration throughout. A lift from reception. Right in the centre of a beautiful town filled with pubs, restaurants and independent shops, not to mention the amazing castle. All the hotel staff were lovely, so friendly and welcoming. So good that we stayed an extra night. Had the lamb for evening meal which was delicious, also home made pancakes at breakfast, what a treat

This hotel is literarily 2 steps from the main attraction - Alnwick Castle. It's a former nunnery. We stayed at the Chapel room which was a great experience, beautiful, spacious with stain glass windows and birds signing outside.

Decor was nice and well maintained. Also location close to many rest Arain ts, bars and local attractions.

A little tired and probably in need of extra general maintenance reference decor e.g. paint work, carpet in room. Aldo could consider a bar.

Lovely breakfast and very warm and welcoming staff. They made our anniversary feel very special with little touches like chocolates in the room and a card.

Our room was a tad hot, but we had an air conditioner that we forgot was there! Once we had that on, it was perfect.

This is a gorgeous hotel with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only improvement we can think of would be to have black out blinds/curtain for better sleeping.

The property is absolutely stunning and the staff were out of this world one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in over the last 20 years, it’s breathtaking, the history the location the people everything about the hotel location and staff are everything you expect when you visit new place! A special mention to all the staff who work there they couldn’t do enough for you, evening meal was one of the best I’ve had in years and we got a tour and a history lesson of the whole hotel, beautiful place beautiful people and extra special staff! Great location in a quiet, historic area of the town but within walking distance of the town centre and Alnwick Castle. The hotel was a former convent and has been beautifully converted. It’s a small friendly hotel and the staff were lovely - we were well looked after. Great breakfast. The staff gave recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the local area.

Food and drink in the hotel was a little pricey.

I loved the decor throughout the hotel it was beautiful. I loved the quiet atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of towels and toiletries. The hospitality tray was well stocked and we appreciated the homebaked cookies..a lovely touch. The location of the hotel was excellent and we had no problem with parking. The staff were all very friendly.

Chapel room is very impressive - big, quirky, fantastic shower and standalone bathtub. Suitable for a treat. Very professional staff and great breakfast. Best pancakes, syrup and bacon we've ever had!

Gorgeous hotel, lots of history. Our bed was so comfy and the room was lovely and warm. We were greeted by Louise on reception who was very warm, friendly and helpful. Gave us a little tour of the place and showed us up to our room, helped with parking too. Breakfast was lovely, Lynn was very welcoming and helpful taking our order etc

Tasteful and cosy decor throughout - it felt really welcoming. The front of house team were lovely, knowledgeable of the local area, and happy to share recommendations. Great breakfast selection. Fantastic location and the on-street parking wasn’t an issue at all (visited in march).

Only a minor point but consideration for a mini fridge in the room would be a good extra. Needed to get dressed and go down to the gun room for fresh milk for our morning cup of tea 😬 no real hardship though.

Had a fabulous location just opposite the castle. though out of season it was quiet and Parking was no problem just opposite. The decor was of a very high standard and it was very clean. It had a lift to upper floors which made it a really convenient with lots of bags. The decor in room was room itself was very compact (Sweethope Lough ) and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was fantastic and the bathroom was lovely. The dining area to rear was absolutely lovely. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Very stylish decor integrating its previous life as a convent

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The second we walked through the door we were welcomed. The lady on reception was friendly, informative and so very kind. She took us around the building and explained everything. The room was ready early and was immaculate. Wonderful amenities in the room and in the building. We ate lunch, which was absolutely delicious as was the breakfast. The whole building was immaculate and clean. Fantastic location and beautifully decorated. The main positive is the staff. Each and every member of staff, from check in to the cleaning staff, were friendly, smiley and always asked if we needed anything. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more.
