Location ideal, we have had dinner, not breakfast.

Access road to the hotel is not double laned, hence was bit akward to provide side distance to passing or oncoming vehicles.

Hospitality was perfect. The staff I met were excellent. Very pleasant and helpful. A note: suggestion should treat every single customer equally, not judge by age or language or something.

May need maintenance in the bathroom, sinks are broken and smelly, looks not nice. shower water flow so bad. Sometimes mosquitoes are in the room.

Für Batticaloa ist das East Lagoon sicher eines der besten Hotels. Die Einrichtung ist zwar etwas altmodisch, aber alles war sehr sauber und das Badezimmer modern. Das Personal war freundlich, wenn auch etwas schüchtern. Das Essen hat uns leider überhaupt nicht gefallen, und die Wärme im Gang – und dadurch auch im Zimmer nach einem Tagestrip – war unangenehm. Mit der Klimaanlage war es im Zimmer aber gut auszuhalten. Sehr positiv waren der Roomservice, der gepflegte Poolbereich und die gute Sicherheit im Hotel. Insgesamt ein gutes Hotel für Batticaloa, jedoch nicht ganz auf dem Standard, den wir sonst gewohnt sind.

The air conditioner doesn't work.

Staff is friebdly and courtiest.

Water flow through showrs is not at all sufficent. When told about this to the management, they said they can't improve because the noise level increases if the pressure in increased. I havent got an invoice as I checked out early. Access to the room is NOT good as I had to carry my suite cases by a staircase.

The location on the lagoon. The room and bathroom were very clean. The eclectic mix of decor. My husband said the food was very good. Kettle and fridge in the room. Good wifi and aircon.

There is no blanket on the bed. No English TV channels. The mattress is too firm for my back (this can be good for others).

It was the most expensive hotel on this trip, for a two star rating it was more expensive than our four star hotel in Colombo. Big room, but no atmosphere, & no bedside lights !

We arrived late at East Lagoon. We had booked for four nights. When we got there, the man told us to pay for three nights first, which I did. Then he said about the fourth night: if I wanted to stay, we could sort it out later. Since we did want to stay, I said okay, we’ll book the extra night. Then he suddenly said it wasn’t possible. So I told him, fine, I’ll pay for the fourth night now, but then I expect to stay. No idea if he understood me or not – apparently not. He just did the checkout and said I had to pay. I paid, and then he basically told me there was no room. As a tourist, I find this kind of treatment really, really, really bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The hotel was full of mosquitoes, only the bath towel was changed – nothing else. The staff were very, very, very unfriendly. The only reason I stayed there was because my family lives ten minutes away. Ten years ago, the place was still friendly – now, not at all.

The hotel is looking tired inside and we found that the superficial house keeping hasn't helped.

Location is lovely beside the lagoon. Food is good and reasonably priced and serving staff helpful and friendly.

The hotel could be much better if it was properly managed and cleaned. We were given a Superior room at checkin despite booking a Deluxe with balcony. The room was very tired and dirty so we complained and were given a Super Deluxe room as the receptionist said they had no balcony rooms left. The room was much better than the first room but still had a non functioning AC control and a room safe that was not secured to the cupboard and unable to be closed. Wallpaper was also hanging off wall in places. The outside garden and pool area were also dirty and looked uncared for. It was a shame as staff in restaurant were friendly and helpful and food good...with a little more care and attention the hotel could be so much better.

One of my colleagues had a rat in the room. We informed the hotel. They said they fixed the issue. But the next day same thing happened. The food is over priced and not great. The indian menu took 40 mins to prepare. Not a great place unfortunately we had no option.

the check in process did not provide the wifi password and details required to stay at the hotel. room was far away from reception bugs in the room and so had to move.

Amazing location and view.

They had put us in the old building next to the swimming pool. This one unfortunately needs maintenance. Luckily the manager could give us some discount. But always book the main building cause I've been there before and that's amazing.

As we were driving our own tuktuk it proved a perfect location for us. Our huge room with 2 comfy beds and 2 balconies was fabulous. We got to see the sunset and sunrise. Loved the pool and the meal in the outside bure were delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location was the best.

Rooms were very dirty, bedsheets had blood stains on them, toilet seat and and the whole toilet was moving in our room. We had three rooms all three rooms were not clean at all.

The location overlooking the lagoon is wonderful despite being somewhat out of town and away from easy-to-hail tuk-tuks. The staff were helpful and the swimming pool was great. There is a restaurant on site that is open 8 am till 9 am. At the prices proposed it was wonderful value for money although a little sad as it was large but not very busy when we went

The restaurant was good, but unfortunately, a lot of the dishes were not available, which was a pity so we were reduced to our choices, particularly of Western Dishes so for some of us with a dislike of spicy food this was a little limiting

I booked the room via booking.com with breakfast. But in the reception they said they didn't provide breakfast for that. My daughter expect swimming pool But they temporarily closed.

Big hotel with pool and conference hall etc...not exactly a Sri Lanka traditional place which is what we look for as a tourist like us. Everything worked including the elevator.

Advertised with fridge, safe in room - had neither , nor did we have any hot water. Rubbish outside room for length of stay . Clearly not set up to cater for international tourists. Staff could care less about what website offered and what was in situ nor the fact we had not hot water - felt like episode of faulty towers .

Staff not really interested on our arrival not shown where dining area bar etc were in relation to our rooms and other general info like eating times not given. Rooms not maintained properly torn curtains peeling wallpaper surprising in a hotel only 5 years old. The bathroom was smelly and not cleaned I had to go out and purchase cleaning products and clean it myself before using it 😳 I did complain and they did clean the room properly thereafter but whole hotel not clean and not maintained there were torn sheets with stains on as well as stains on the towels provided all in all pretty shabby for such a new hotel a real pity as it could be very nice. Breakfast was poor as was the evening meal and service we didn’t eat there again for the whole 4 days we stayed

Good location to the city. Have to say the manager and the staff are quick to respond to issues and resolve them quickly. They are super friendly and approachable. They try to do their best to make your stay comfortable. But the hotel need serious investment to refurbish and re decorate, it has true potential to be a luxury hotel in Batticaloa.

It could be cleaner , the fridge in the room was dirty and we couldn’t use it. The sofa in the suite could be cleaner too. The decor is outdated and need a bit of a refresh.
