Everithing was fine. It could be closer to the center.
I asked for an invoice and didn't get the invoice till now. Please send it to cribeiro@cotesi.com.
Moderna, centrale, pulita
Room was very nice, shower was excellent. Reception staff was very good
No Halal food options, also the lady who served us breakfast was not very nice and didnt want to help out with the halal food.
Definitely not worth the money paid, the food was delayed a lot for breakfast and it was bad, we ended up having an upset stomach.
Breakfast service not acceptable. Too slow and no consideration for customers
Struttura accogliente, centrale pulitissima, personale accogliente, le camere dotate di tutti i confort descritti, colazione ottima
The person running the dining facilities, Robin I believe, did an amazing job as his experience in the food and restaurant space shined throughout. Breakfast was soooo good. The food was always fresh and service was prompt and with a genuine smile. We ate dinner there one evening as well... probably one of the best in the area. Again, service staff were awesome and this helped make our experience that much better.
I am not one to say many negative things, but please be aware of ROOM 25 (or it may have been 26). We arrived around 6pm and checked into both rooms (one for our kids, the other for us). I initially smelled what I thought was refuse, but it lessened as we were running out to dinner. Upon our return, there was no hint of a smell, but a full-out smell of sewage. This room is above three restrooms in the lobby and it seems that they vent out directly into ROOM 25's bathroom. It was so noxious, that we left immediately and after the front desk clerk came up to witness this herself, she moved us to the only free room available. The hotel did upgrade us from that room for the rest of our stay, but I had heard from others that this was not a one-off issue. They need to jet-clean the vents and fix this for future guests. Please note, the staff were MORE than attentive and helpful, and I would definitely return to this hotel. One room issue does not make a place uninhabitable. The Staff, the facilities, and the overall value this all creates far outweighs this one hiccup. Outside of this, it would be a 10 !
Our recent two-night stay at this hotel in Skye was, unfortunately, a huge disappointment. We were travelling with friends who had come all the way from America, so we were looking forward to experiencing the renowned Highland hospitality. Instead, our first impression was far from welcoming. On arrival, the hotel manager was chatting with two members of staff behind reception. We felt as though we had interrupted a private conversation rather than arrived as paying guests. We were simply asked what we wanted before being told, “You’re too early, check-in is at 3pm.” We were then told they would check whether any rooms were ready. It was one of the coldest welcomes we’ve ever received. Once our rooms were available, we were shown to two “Cosy Double Courtyard” rooms. The description was extremely misleading. The so-called courtyard was little more than an uninspiring area resembling a small car park rather than any sort of attractive courtyard. The biggest issue came once we entered our room. The toilet was leaking continuously, leaving water all over the bathroom floor. We reported it immediately and were told they would “monitor it.” I asked whether we could be moved to another room while this was being dealt with, but was told the hotel was fully booked and we had no option but to remain in the room with the fault. To make matters worse, the room had a strong damp smell, making the stay extremely unpleasant. After one night we decided we simply didn’t want to remain for the second night of our planned break. To the hotel’s credit, they refunded the cost of the unused second night and offered a 25% refund on one of the rooms for the first night. While this gesture was appreciated, it did not make up for what was a very disappointing experience. Skye is an incredible destination and deserves accommodation that reflects its beauty and reputation for hospitality. Sadly, this hotel fell well short of our expectations. We will not be returning and, based on our experience, would not recommend staying here.
Amazing staff food and property.
Excelente Muito linda
The location
They have mentioned that they have air conditioning facility but that’s not true, we got the room and they provided me with table fan
A comfortable hotel 5 minutes walk from downtown Portree. Clean mid-sized rooms with air conditioning. The hotel restaurant is expensive with fairly good food. Service was very good.
Beautiful, clean, and modern hotel with lovely garden. Walking distance from shops and restaurants. The rooms were a good size and plenty of modern amenities. It was the best sleep I had in Scotland thanks to no noise and black out curtains. Staff were helpful. We had a problem at breakfast when the cook never showed up and we had a tour to get to. Staff were apologetic, but we waited ages for "to go" boxes. They apologized, but didn't make amends. Also ate dinner at the hotel. Food was good, but definitely on the expensive side.
This hotel is a 5 minute walk outside of town and is well staffed and comfortable. We stayed in a room that was outside the main part of the hotel. We didn’t spend much time there and it was comfortable enough. The restaurant was good- I enjoyed the breakfast we had every morning. Dinner is a little pricey, but every waitress we had was wonderful. There was one instance that was a little upsetting. We had just paid £180 for dinner and asked for two martinis as a night cap to take to our room. The bar tender set them down and we began to get up to leave. He loudly asked ‘Did you already pay?’ And we explained yes, we had told the waitress we wanted these to go. He immediately went over and loudly said ‘did they pay? They’re leaving…’ to be treated this way after spending 1600 USD for three nights and 180 GBP for dinner was a wee bit off putting. He was welcome to ask the waitress but to be so loud and accusatory was unnecessary. This removed a star for me.
Stayed 2 nights. Twin bed room in the new part of the hotel on the 1st level up the stairs. Check in was like leaving on an international flight, passport, credit card, car registration number etc even though the room and breakfast had been prepaid. Parking is available but not well signposted. A fellow helped with the bags and the reception area was busy with bags and visitors. Room was really nice, good amenities in the bathroom (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc. no instructions for how to work the aircon controls. Wifi was not working for me in any areas of the hotel. Had the best dinner meal in the dining room, the food was superb but pricey when you include wine / drinks and so we ate dinner in town on the second night. Breakfast was not good. They have juice available on a buffet…only apple but not sure if others had been available which ahad been consumed already. No cereal available. The server brings out a tiered plate with a small pot of yoghurt, 2 small slices of watermelon and pineapple. 2 croissants, butter portions, jam and a small packet of Nutella. This is shared between 2 people. We ordered avocado on sourdough toast with NO poached eggs. The plates came out with sourdough, avocado spread on the toast and 2 poached eggs. We explained we didn’t want the eggs only the toast. The server explained you can’t change the menu and sourdough with avocado comes with eggs (we weren’t that hungry so we didn’t want to order wasted eggs)….but we got eggs on soggy toast spread either avocado. I couldn’t eat the soggy toast. The breakfast was not good. The next morning I ordered off the menu and only ate what I wanted but it is very wasteful approach if you can’t order a breakfast item and ask to not include something like a sausage or a piece of haggis etc. Very wasteful approach.
This was our third hotel during our Scotland trip and we liked it way better than the ones in Edinburgh and Inverness. The front desk staff was quick and friendly. There is no elevator so we carried our bags up the one flight of stairs. While our room didn't have a view, we liked that we could open the windows which were on the slanted ceiling portion. The bed was comfy and we didn't hear any outside noise. We also were happy the shower was easy to use (last place had separate hot/cold knobs and it took time to get the temperature right without scalding yourself). The parking lot was appreciated, although a somewhat tight squeeze when full. We liked the location in that it was an easy drive to The Old Man of Storr and walk to nearby restaurants. We were happy to see pancakes on the breakfast menu, but be warned...they are small and you don't get much syrup. We were able to get eggs with the pancakes although that is not how it is listed. They offer 4 chargers for EVs, but only 2 work.
This hotel is overpriced for the quality of the rooms. The beds were very worn, with noticeable dips in the middle of the mattresses, which appeared not to have been flipped or properly maintained. The breakfast was pleasant but inconsistent in quality. We also used the relaxation room and dry sauna, but were concerned that the accessible bathroom had scalding hot water, with only a warning sign posted. If the hotel is aware of this safety hazard, it should be fixed rather than simply noted.
The room was nice and large, with amenities such as bottled water, chocolates, side tables, and comfortable bedding. The breakfast was nice (made to order), and the service was good. The environment was very inviting.
There was no elevator, so we had to carry our bags up and down the stairs. However, there was someone there to help upon request. They ran out of towels during our stay.
My father and I stayed here during our tour of Scotland in separate rooms. Overall, the hotel feels modern and well-kept. We were happy with the rooms and the breakfast, and the plentiful parking was welcome. I also observed a couple EV chargers (we had a ICE rental, I cannot comment on charging speed). My room was right above the smoking area, which meant I was treated to the smell of cigarettes several times during the night we stayed. Checkin was a high-touch experience, which likely appeals to the sort of clientele that are willing to pay the rates they charge for rooms. For us, it felt a bit overbearing. The hotel does not appear to have a lift, and, while staff were on hand to carry suitcases upstairs, guests should be aware there are lots of stairs throughout. Overall, I struggle to reconcile the experience with the price paid. I may stay again if I visit the Isle of Skye, but I will do it with eyes wide open that the value does not match the room rate.
It was modern and contemporary.
The staff were not very welcoming at reception they chatted a lot to each other and barely looked up when we walked in. This was most days at reception while we were there.
Easy booked, great location, very clean, comfy bed and fantastic breakfast. Staff helpful, late booking but still managed a late checkout no problem.
Thought the cost when booked at 7pm for that night could be reduced when hotel not nearly full.
Beautiful setting at the back of the property. Dining was delicious, breakfast & dinner
Cold or undercooked food, terrible service, overcharged compared to their website, never again
Me and my friend got violently sick a few days before our trip and called to cancel. I asked if it was possible to get a refund, to which they said yes, as long as we contact the agent we went through to book them. I did that and the agent came back with that they refused the refund. I called them again regarding this and they didn’t have time to assist me and blew me off. Had we known they would have refused us, we could have given the stay to family or friends, since it was already paid for. Very dissappointing and unprofessional. We were thinking of coming to Portree some other time, but I know for certain that we won’t be using this hotel anymore.
Location, cleanliness,

An absolutely fantastic stay! From the moment we arrived we had an amazing time Stayed 3 nights with my wife to celebrate her birthday, the room we had was lovely and clean with a super comfy bed and stunning views. We had breakfast each day and evening meal in the hotel twice, delicious. So well cooked and beautifully presented. A mention to the staff, every team member was so friendly and helpful, it really made a difference to our stay. Special thanks to Chloe and Rachel who were great in the restaurant, and to Abi who sorted a couple of requests in our room. Without doubt we would stay again and have already recommended this hotel to others . Thanks for making the weekend so special for us both
Room had a lovely view of the garden and the harbor in the distance. Quiet, clean, cozy, and comfortable, with a good restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner and other spa-like amenities. On site parking and a fairly central location on Skye made daytripping easy. 10 minute walk to the center of Portree for shops and restaurants.
Dining room staff worked their arse off.
No attention to detail. Nobody seems to care. Rubbish blowing around. Dirty tables. Seriously understaffed.
Modern clean and all staff friendly
Nothing
We spent four nights at the Marmalade Hotel which was hotel number six on our tour of Scotland. Location - The hotel is only a 5-minute walk away from the centre of Portree, it's on a hill above the town in a quiet suburb. It is set in mature in mature gardens, commanding views over the village of Portree, the loch and the Cuillin Mountains, and breath-taking views of the coastlines. The hotel is a mix of an historic Manor House and contemporary modern architecture. We found both tranquil and bustling at the same time. Staff - Great staff the welcome at reception was excellent and check in in went smoothly. They were always helpful with any request even arranging a laundry pick up for us. Never short of a friendly chat and some advice on where best to to avoid the rush. Restaurant staff in the morning at breakfast were friendly and very quick with our orders. Room - Our room was in the modern section of the hotel. Large spacious with views over the gardens and the Cuillin Hills. There were tea and coffee available in the room, along with water and some delicious biscuits and a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable and slept well. The on suite bathroom was clean and had the essentials for your stay. The room was kept clean and tidy for the whole of our stay. Thank you. Food - We had an excellent breakfast every morning set in the older Manor House with garden views. There was a good selection of fruit, juices, yoghurt and pastries if you wanted a continental style. there was also a good choice of hot breakfasts. Full Scottish was excellent as was the Eggs Benedict, Avo on Toast etc. What ever we chose was delicious. This is definitely a hotel to recommend if you are going to stay on Skye. Being in Portree it is also central for all the attractions in any direction. In addition, its secluded position meant it was away from the main busy tourist areas.
Incredible staff, so welcoming, helpful, and hospitable. The hotel is well-styled and comfortable, and impeccably clean. A reduced dinner menu was available (local cheeses, breads, etc) which was delicious and great to enjoy by the fire. We awoke to a stunning view of the well-managed garden and the faint sound of bagpipes playing in the town centre. Bliss. Parking was easy, too.
Ottimo posto, personale accogliente, ottimo ristorante
Staff are very attentive and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
The shower pressure was underwhelming. The built in makeup mirror was too low to be used comfortably.
Great rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast, clean and modern but with character
Minor issues only - a bit cold in the bar area - no wood for fire. Sauna pod not functioning
The restaurant was surprisingly good. It was clean and friendly.
Our room, though large, was cold and the bathroom needed serious updating. The shower trickled water. We had to ask the staff to bring in a heater in the evening because we were freezing. Also VERY expensive, especially for what it was which was essentially a 3 star property. I realize there is a dearth of hotels in the area but it was far more expensive that our 5 star Fairmont hotel in St Andrews (and a lot less comfortable). One more thing: the staff, while nice and friendly, all seemed new and as a result, couldn’t help us that much when I asked to speak to a manager. I will say that the person at the desk in the evening did provide us with a heater which was greatly appreciated!
I booked to stay at this hotel and then cancelled my reservation. I was still charged for the reservation. I emailed the hotel about this and did not receive a response for over two weeks. Terrible customer service.
Bekvem beliggenhed
O jantar estava excelente.

Wonderful breakfast, the rooms were clean and comfortable!
Welcoming and comfortable with excellent bedrooms for weary travellers ! Staff were exceptionally helpful and hospitable. Special mention to the gentleman i/c the restaurant, highest standard. We didn't have the opportunity for dinner but breakfast was one of the best cooked and presented we've enjoyed for a long time.
Nothing to dislike. Suggestion - Hotel signage could do with a refresh to catch the eye more.
Location
My room smelled like onions cooking all night
Property is beautiful. Great location wonderful views. Beautifully decorated.
Bed a little hard
Comfortable, clean, modern hotel. Our room was spacious, with a great bed and a great view. Breakfast was ample and well prepared. The staff was lovely; “accommodating” does not begin to describe the level of service they gave to two not-young travelers who had a few special needs. Great location in Portree and easy private parking. We can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
Nice clean rooms. Staff very friendly and efficient. Room size was good. The restaurant was excellent. Food was good and plentiful.
Price was way over-priced for what it was. We were paying five star price for,at most, a four star hotel. Our second day (we had to switch rooms because our first room wasn’t available for two nights) we were at a family room. It was very large but it was chilly and we couldn’t adjust the temperature. So we were given two radiators. That helped quite a bit. But the shower the next morning was truly awful. It sputtered out water. (The bath the night before was excellent though.) Overall the bathrooms in both rooms needed a major overhaul as the toilets don’t work well either. Plumbing definitely needs an upgrade! The staff seemed very inexperienced. Most everyone we encountered were new and couldn’t really help us, even though they tried.
Clean and large sized room. Great shower and bed.
Very expensive! It was nice but not luxury.
Quiet and clean with exceptional service. Seems to be new and pristine overall. Comfy bed, good serve and a decent wine list for such a location.
Comfortable, walkable to town.
Hit or miss with the front desk. Not Always friendly.
Fantastic room with the best bed!
So this was advertised as "luxury hotel". Far from it. I paid over 500 a night for basically a box with a tiny window almost on the ceiling that overlooked the parking lot. Staff dressed in suits/formal attire, but that does not a luxury hotel make. Feel really ripped off, avoid this overpriced hotel. Location was good, so at least that is something.
This hotel was very nice. We had a pretty view of the gardens and Skye mountains in the background. The breakfast was way above average.
I was very impressed when the staff purchased coconut milk especially for me as I am allergic to other forms of milk . I appreciated their efforts and friendly manner
Multiple Issues with this hotel. Rooms have paper thin walls - thought there was a bowling alley upstairs. Could hear family in the next room talking to their baby. Outside shabby - flower pots filled with empty beer cans, water bottles and cigarette ends. Pretty surly staff at check-in. Not overly helpful, nor would have eye contact with guests. At time of booking, was not informed restaurant was closed on a Monday. A little misleading on their website, as the restaurant is a selling point. Final thought: There have to be better places to stay in Portree in/around the same price bracket providing way better value for money and service. The hotel certainly doesn't provide a 4 star room or service. Saving grace: Hotel breakfast staff. The young girl from Newcastle was so pleasant and helpful.
Everything. What’s not to like about it? Honestly love every thing about this place
N/A
The outside of the inn isn’t much to look at but the inside is very well designed modern stylish. The rooms are all updated renovated bathrooms. Great views! Breakfast had a good selection choices to order. I got the avocado toast with eggs on it, yummy! Close to the town to walk for dinner.
Lovely place
Apparently the area restaurants are closed on Mondays or close very early. I booked this hotel because it had a restaurant and bar. I feel it should have been disclosed that it would be closed when I booked.
Bedroom was big, mattress super comfortable. Amazing food for both dinner and breakfast! Staff was super nice and helpful
some of the stairs to go to the room are uneven and a bit scary
There were hairs on the pillow and sheets. There were lots of noise throughout the night, horrible. When we checked in, there was another guest complained that both of their room didn't get cleaned at all-- we should have bailed then
The hotel was beautiful and the service was friendly, accommodating, and professional. The location can't be beat, and anything you coukd want to see on the oslnd is accessible from here. 10/10 will stay again!
Great location, lovely breakfast!
Well situated, restaurant and breakfast staff very kind. The quality of food and restaurant service good.
The room bore little resemblance to the photo. Tiny window, worn paintwork and headboard. Only a trickle of warm water from the shower and bedroom next to some kind of noisy generator (I wore head phones). And very expensive for the room quality.
Struttura di recente ristrutturazione, curata e accogliente. Camera ampia e pulita pulita con letto comodo. Bagno pulito e ottima doccia.
Beautiful garden outside the room window
La habitación perfecta el trato perfecto. La cena y el desayuno perfectos
No había aacc ni ascensor
Erica & Archie provided excellent Service! Unfortunately, the Dining Room music was inappropriate. Attention to detail re Tabletop, Lighting, Decor, Staff Uniforms, admirable, yet "American Pop" playing communicates lack of caring to this Ambient component.
Hotel Marmalade is about a 5 minute uphill walk from the lovely center of Portree and has sufficient free parking space. Unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing. While the room was modern, ours looked only onto adjacent buildings instead of the beautiful valley views some other guests had. From the start, service was poor: when we arrived before check-in time, the receptionist was unfriendly, refused to check if our room was ready and seemed more interested in chatting with colleagues. At this price point, we expected far better. There is also no elevator, which makes carrying luggage upstairs inconvenient. Breakfast was unacceptable. On the first day, staff arrived late and rushed to prepare things. On the second day, no staff showed up at all – we had to go to Tesco to buy croissants. Housekeeping was also unreliable: after returning from our hikes, our room had not been cleaned, and we had to chase staff to fix it. Although we did receive some compensation, the lack of professionalism and basic hospitality really impacted our stay. For the premium price charged, the service fell far below expectation. It is time for the management of this hotel to get their act together.
Portree is the ideal base from which to explore Skye. We chose the Marmalade as looked like good rooms and there was car parking - an issue in the town. Initially we liked the idea of eating in the restaurant but reviews were so mixed we decided again and had a couple of great evening meals in town - big shout out to Cuchullin and Sea Breezes! Our room on top floor was spacious and had views over trees with sea in background. But there were lots of oddities that made us seriously question the star rating and value for money. On arrival it was a bit strange to be shown to our room up two flights of stairs only to have to follow the receptionist back down to collect our cases and then immediately ascend again. Lots of chipped paintwork all the way up the stairs so no recent redecoration. But, worst of all, was that the hotel did not expect to service the room during our 3 night stay. We came back after our first full day hiking and exploring to find bed unmade, bins unemptied and towels damp/unchanged. We asked for this to be done the next day, which it was, but only at the most superficial level with a bit of debris from a previous guest still there on the carpet showing that vacuuming rooms is not a regular thing, despite all the chips on the stair paintwork! Although the hotel apologised and claimed the room servicing issue was an oversight, looking at other reviews, we are not alone with that problem. Breakfast was a bit strange as well. You get brought a tiered cake stand with various things on it but all jumbled - sometimes one yoghurt even though there were two of us. Always two croissant. And sliced fruit. But what are you meant to do with laughing cow and baybelle cheese? Toast was not offered - you had to ask and on one morning they had run out of bread. Juices not fresh either. Then there was a young waitress, who obviously had not been trained, who would walk up to each table whilst everyone was half way through eating and say "Room number?" (no please) and then write that on her hand before disappearing without further comment. So surprised by all this when paying the amount per night that we were. Disappointing.
When you pay almost 500 eur per one night stay you pretend a very high level service. A part from the guy at the reception and the young guy at breakfast (both very kind), the rest was a total disaster. Service very slow and staff not enough careful.
Nice. Well apportioned. Very stylish.
Location is good. Facilities are good. Spacious room. Breakfast is very good, ordered to cook, just need more time.
A bit over priced. Very few choices available in the popular tourist spot. Not many restaurants around, better to plan ahead.
This hotel is way over-priced for what it is. And they seem to have bad staffing problems. On arrival we found nobody at the front desk and had to wait for 10 minutes for someone to show up. The hotel restaurant is closed on the same two nights when most other restaurants in town are closed, leaving their clients high and dry. And on our third night they wouldn’t make room for us either. Thankfully we instead discovered the restaurant at the beautiful Cuillin Hills Hotel. That hotel, its restaurant, the service, and the views were wonderful, and we badly wished we were staying there instead.
I didn’t sleep at the hotel but I went to the restaurant, the scenery wasn’t amazing but don’t let the looks fool you! The food was fast and tasted amazing! We had the 250g fillet and ribeye with French fries, red wine sauce and pepper sauce. It was delicious! The steak was flavourful and juicy. And the fries were perfectly crispy, the staff were amazing and the manager was the best! We also had the soup of the day which was carrot and cumin, it was so good I got it a 2nd time! Would come again.
We loved the quaint feel and pretty decor of this hotel. Our room was clean and welcoming with a beautiful view! The breakfast was delicious and the staff so kind. There was always someone at the desk to help us with travel ideas and answer questions. The hotel is a quick and easy walk into Portree. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel to visitors to the Isle of Skye!
The Hotel is very nice the room was clean and bed comfortable. The restaurant was a bit of a let down. The bar does not do cocktails, which in this level of hotel is unacceptable. The evening meal was a bit of a let down again for this standard of hotel. Breakfast was another disappointment. Very limited fruit juices or should I say fruit juice. There were no breakfast cereals on offer. We had the so called full Scottish breakfast, see photo, I did pass on the mushrooms. There was a venison sausage and haggis but no pork or beef sausages or black pudding on offer and the one and only potato scone was baked rather than fried which makes them rather dry. A full Scottish breakfast should include pork or beef sausages black pudding Haggis tattie scones egg tomatoes mushrooms beans or at least the choice of these along with toast and Jams and arrange of cereals and fruit juices. The owner or manager needs to consider the customers and not their particular likes and dislikes. It is obvious that these hotel have a captive customer base, unfortunately the visitors are not getting the best of Scottish hospitality
