Wir sind sehr herzlich empfangen worden und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Die Dusche war etwas defekt, aber es war ok.

There was an overpowering smell of incense or something in the room. I couldn’t find the source but it was so strong.

The apartment is just down the road from the bar, so there are no issues with noise. There is a ground floor apartment and one up steps, I was travelling with my elderly mother and we had electric bikes, but I mentioned this when booking and they made sure we were on the ground floor. It was a really spacious and comfortable flat, full kitchen although we didn’t use it, big comfy living room and two big double bedrooms. Very pleasantly surprised given the cheap price, we were expecting much less. The staff member who checked us in walked to the flat with us and checked everything was ok, she was very friendly and helpful. In the morning we checked out by dropping the keys at the bar. There is a contact number if you have any issues during the stay but we didn’t use it. It was perfectly clean.

The only complaint is that the bed in the back bedroom had an old and uncomfortable mattress which needs replaced.

Habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt, so eintypisches schottisches gemütliches Kleinod von Hotel. Mit viel Liebe wird die Tradition aufrecht gehalten und ich wusste schon gar nicht mehr wo hingucken, so viele lustige Sammelstücke, Bilder und Nippes.

Leider habe es beim Frühstück kein Avocadotoast, hatte mich so drauf gefreut, aber das ist nun wirklich ein Luxusproblem. Man isst gut und die Auswahl darf sich sehen lassen. Typisch schottisch zum Frühstck zum Abendessen darfs dann auch mal ein Curry sein, das war echt lecker. Den Lärm von der Strasse hat mich nun wirklich nicht gestört, denn es ist mitten im Zentrum, nur 4 Minuten zum Bahnhof entfernt. Im House gab es einen Comedyclub an diesem Abend.

The hotel was/is superb. I loved my stay there. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Location is so close to the town and train station, it couldn't be any better.

The room was comfortable and the location was convenient.

I was disappointed by the way the restaurant handled my bill. The menu clearly advertised a 3-course “Value Menu” for £22.95. I ordered soup, steak pie and apple pie, which should have qualified as the 3-course menu. Instead, all three items were charged separately, resulting in £32.95 for the food alone. Including one beer and one coffee, the total came to £40.45 instead of £30.45. I questioned this immediately, but staff insisted that the bill was correct. I left my contact details and was told the manager would contact me, but nobody did. This gives a very unpleasant impression and, frankly, feels like a tourist scam. I have experienced far more transparent billing practices in places that some travellers might consider less predictable. The amount itself is not the main issue; it is the principle. If a hotel advertises a fixed-price menu, guests should be charged accordingly, and complaints should be taken seriously. Very disappointing.

Location was good and staff great, water and juice were a nice touch, room was clean.

I could feel the springs through the mattress so very uncomfortable, there was also no breakfast available.

My husband's room wasn't ensuite! He had to walk down the hall, through a public kitchen to get to a toilet and shower!! At breakfast time (9am) the chef was still in bed so they didn't get served a greasy, not nice breakfast till 10 am

Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Quirky and charming interior. Heard no noise from bar once in room. Liked the idea of loads of bookshelves, and the offer to borrow, exchange or take books.

Initial impression of exterior and busy road. Parking was smaller than expected though there was overflow and parking on street between 6pm and 9am.

"Private" bathroom provided for the family room of 3 seems to be used by everyone who feels like it as this is located out of the room to the right and has a lock inside to lock it.

The location was brilliant, 5min walk from train station and Helix park is a straightforward 40min walk from the hotel. The food was lovely and the staff are so attentive and the bar has a really friendly crowd.

I didn't realise that the self contained unit was actually also going to have other guests in it, so I was in a room downstairs with another 2 men who had their own rooms. They were quiet and I didn't really see them, but the bathrooms are shared also so you have to come out your room and go through the common areas, which some people might find really uncomfortable in the night for example. I'd have loved to have my own little tea/coffee making facilities in my bedroom.

Very central, rooms were a bit dated but clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was really good and big portions. Bar was very quirky and good fun (live music the night we stayed). Two free carparks you could park in.. one behind hotel and one across the road.

The staff were very helpful, taking our suitcases up the spiral staircase. The fridge was small but worked well & was big enough.The bar & restaurant were pleasant, and the option of on-site dining was great on a cold drizzly night. We had the pizza & it was excellent. The on-site parking was appreciated.

The bathroom needed work but still functioned well. The option of a sheet on the bed as well as the doona would have been good, doona was too hot.

We were not placed in the hotel on arrival- we went to some flats across the road. Beds were really uncomfortably hard and in the when the room next door flushed the loo or sink the noise of the pipes were loud enough to wake us.

Good location near the station, helpful staff and the pub food was amazing.

There was no bin or hand towel for the bathroom and we weren't sure if someone would leave the bottom door open, as it was quite frequently open when we arrived or left. So we put a wedge against our bedroom door.

It was like having your own flat away from home. The food was amazing and very generous.

The cleanliness was not up to our standard. The bin hadn’t been completely emptied from previous occupiers and we found several hairs around (mainly in the bathroom) that were not ours.

The bed was very comfortable, there is a small fridge (very convenient) and there was complimentary coffee, tea, cookies, soft drinks and water, which we really appreciated. Also it was very quiet at night.

We stayed there for three days and we only got two little sachets of shower gel, so we had to buy soap.

The room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering it was in the centre of town on a saturday night. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We had to wait for an hour for our breakfast as the chef was late which put us behind in our schedule for the day. This wasn't critical - just annoying. The serving staff were very attentive dealing with a situation which was not of their making.

Senga falt sammen da jeg satte meg på den. Kjente fjærene fra madrassen. Rommet lå rett ovenfor et veikryss. Dersom jeg satte opp vinduet var det konstant trafikkbråk. Dersom vinduet var stengt var det 30 grader på rommet. Sola sto på hele dagen.

Friendly and helpful staff

No fault of the property, but it was super hot whilst I was there. Opening the window was the only option but it was beside a busy road so noisy.

Wir haben Doppelzimmer statt der gebuchten Zweibettzimmer bekommen. Die Betten waren sehr, sehr schmal. Es gab nur 1 Handtuch für 2 Personen. Zimmer waren alt und renovierungsbedürftig. Gerüche im Zimmer komisch. Leider nicht empfehlenswert! Die Homepage zeigt ein völlig anderes Bild. Stimmt nicht mit der Realität überein.

The landlord placed us in a four bed unit closed to the hotel. We were happy with this. He advised it was away from the noise.

Steps……OMG the number of steps. We never realised every place had so many steps .

It gave me a safe space relatively as soon as they could and the staff were wonderful, amenities excellent and the place was immaculate.

The shower room (room 3) needs replaced. The mould round the window was awful and the shower wasn't the best. Its on a main road and we had a room onto the front, so was very noisy. Public bar is right under the room we were in. Plus the doors in the lobby were very squeeky, so you heard comjng and going all the time. It did for the 2 nights but I was glad to get back home to my own place. Nice atmosphere but just to noisy for us.

As it was hot, we had to keep the windows open and it was very noisy especially on Friday and Saturday night. There was no fan in the room, one of the wall sockets was loose and the sink had no plug.

The hotel has a very polite and helpful staff, has nice surroundings, very good hospitality and good food at pub below as well, overall a wonderful place to stay if you are travelling to Falkirk or highlands

Five minute walk to the railway station.

The advertised description as a “4-Star Hotel” (as seen on Google Maps, which I used to find a hotel near the railway station, but not seen on Booking.com) is obviously a typographical error; but a serious error that should be corrected, quickly. On arrival, I signed in at the public bar in the pub and was then conducted across the road to a tenement annex where my room could be more reasonably be described as “One of several student flats sharing a communal self-catering kitchen”. My bathroom was in the hall, where I had to leave and lock my room when I went for a shower or to use the toilet. I was probably the only person in the property that night; I didn’t see any other guests and there certainly were not any staff in attendance. I was unable to get any breakfast as “ the chef does not come on duty until 10 a.m.”. For checkout, I just left my keys with the cleaner.

Staff were great. Didn’t realise the room was across the road. Was taken round the back of this building and it looked a mess rubbish everywhere and bars on the ground floor windows I was thinking where we being taken. Food in the hotel was good though

No pressure on hot water tap in en suite. We were in the loft and the smoke alarm had been taken down and there was no fire alarm in this building. Furniture and room very basic but suppose that’s why it was cheap. I wouldn’t stay here again

We appreciated the window was open to cool it down but there ended up being a lot of flies in the room. The bathroom shower door was off track and didn’t close well, there was also some mold on the ceiling in the bathroom which would be worth a look.

Very small room. No hand towel or soap which we had to walk over from the annexe to the pub to ask for. Got up in the morning to discover that the cord for the electric shower was faulty so could not get a shower.

I stayed for one night and the staff were warm and welcoming, plus they made me feel at home and were always making sure I was ok because I was there on my own. When I left, I said I'm not going to say goodbye because I'm coming back, so I'll say see you later. I'm going to take the dogs there as well

The staff here were unbelievable! Super friendly and welcoming, always stopping to say hello and check if I needed anything. I would stay here again just for their chat!

It was a bit loud at night with the pub, and there was some black mould in the shower but it's an old building so wasn't too surprised by that!

My room could have done with a small armchair. When I arrived there were sachets for shower gel. However there was no soap to use at the sink to wash my hands. I asked for some but it took over a day to get it.
