New Road Hotel

The property was super close to Whitechapel station which was very convenient for our stay. We liked that the room was secure on the 1st floor (above street level) and locked windows and blinds. We also were a corner room so it felt secure and we also had a safe in our room to lock passports. The complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and tea was lovely since we didn’t add breakfast to our stay. I liked the private rooftop and small fitness area for stretching. The staff dropped off clean towels for us (without us having to ask) and all of the bedding was very clean as well. There was no room odors and the bathroom was very clean including the floors. We loved having a tv in the room and blinds.

The surrounding area is a bit noisy at late hours so I’d recommending bringing ear plugs. I didn’t ask the hotel for any, but should have brought some from home since they can’t control that. I wish breakfast or at least a welcome snack was included since we just landed from a 12 hour flight. The bathroom door needed some type of cover since there wasn’t much privacy between the door and the room.

The windows are thin really don't keep the noise out. Would like to have had chair with a back in the room. Desk is too low with the safe under it to go legs under. Bed was hard.

Rooms could do with more flat surfaces to put things on, especially in the bathroom. We only stayed one night but might be a bit difficult if you are staying longer. Charging extra at breakfast for a decent cup of coffee was a bit much.

Loved the room with the hot tub which was amazing. Brilliant views and was a great birthday treat. The location was just near the train station so getting to and from was really easy.

Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral, man ist in 10 Minuten zu Fuß an der Bahnhaltestelle und auch Bushaltestellen sind in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Auch wenn man vom Stansted Airport kommt, ist man mit den National Express innerhalb von 1:15 Stunden direkt vor dem Hotel an der Haltestelle. Man liest hier ja leider öfters, dass die Lage nicht die schönste ist, aber ehrlicherweise kann ich das nicht bestätigen. Ich habe mich niemals unwohl gefühlt, gerade weil die Straßen sehr hell und belebt sind. Das Personal war überall sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war klein, aber man hatte alles was man braucht. Außerdem war das Bett super Bequem und ich habe sehr gut geschlafen. Außerdem war alles tiptop sauber. Das Preisleistingsverhältnis stimmt hier einfach. Würde das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.

Leider bietet das Zimmer keinerlei Ablagefläche. Wir waren für 2 Nächte nur mit Rucksack da, das hat gepasst. Aber wenn man mit Aufgabegepäck kommt, stelle ich mir das etwas problematisch vor. Außerdem gibt es in Bettnähe keine Steckdosen und im Badezimmer auch keine. Föhnen und die Haare glätten, muss man im Zimmer. Und wie schon in anderen Bewertungen, setzt man beim duschen das ganze Badezimmer unter Wasser, sodass man wirklich Badelatschen für den nächsten Klogang dabei haben sollte :D

I booked the room with jacuzzi on terrace for my birthday. I asked staff 2 times are they sure it's the correct room they said yes. I got the one where I have to walk in corridor to get to the jacuzzi which I didn't want. It needs to be clearer, which rooms are being booked as it's confusing the descriptions.

Great hotel for where I needed to stay. Stylish rooms. Very friendly check in staff. Spotless room that was a good size for the money. Nice modern TV and bathroom and general decor.

I like a firm bed but found this pretty hard to be honest. Would have preferred a bedside table rather than balancing my phone on the bed framing. The bathroom is a wet room which isn't very big. Hard to fix now it's built but the water from shower goes EVERYWHERE. A squeegee broom left in the bathroom would make things a bit easier to manage

The hotel is very clean and relatively modern. It’s an ideal location on the sea front between Sliema and St Julian’s. The staff were great, very friendly and approachable. Their buffet breakfast was very good too. Honestly no complaints. Will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was lovely. Room nice and clean. We didn't realize until we were leaving there were extra towels on top of the wardrobe vanity area in a blue bag. The breakfast wasn't great. I ordered scrambled eggs on sourdough, the scrambled eggs were rather hard , I think maybe they microwaved them. My daughter on the hand really enjoyed her pancakes. It's a good location if your going to victoria park for a concert. The walk there is around 35 mins. But coming back after a whole day standing it honestly felt like a bit a trek. There were no taxis.

Maybe hang the extra towels in the bag on the coat hanger. Other than that it's great

The room was really comfortable and quite considering its location. The staff were friendly and we were able to check in a bit early which was a bonus.

Location is great! Very close to tube station and lots of bus connections and the hotel overall is clean. Friendly staff - offered us a free one hour late check out without extra charge which we were grateful for.

We did not like the fact that the bed is against the wall - you need to ask your partner to get up in order to move out of the bed which is difficult in the middle of the night. Maybe consider marketing them as single rooms for people visiting alone.

El personal fue en todo momento muy amable y muy disponible, y el hotel tiene una pequeña biblioteca con una mesa grande y enchufes (cuando yo fui no había nadie).

La localización es excelente si, como yo, te interesa estar en la zona de Tower Hamlets y no te importa coger el metro (que está muy a mano) cuando necesites ir al centro.

V pokoji je koupelna spolu s WC situovaná do "skleněného boxu", kde člověk nemá dostatečné soukromí. Když se sprchujete, voda teče až k WC míse, nemá šanci vyschnout, takže kolem mísy je neustále mokro. V pokoji nejsou žádné úložné prostory.

I loved this place!! I will definitely come again. The staff were great, polite, and always willing to help whenever we needed anything. The rooms were spacious and clean, and they came to clean our room every day, which was super nice. The location was perfect too! Highly recommend!

I loved the way the whole hotel was decorated. Loved the library on the 2d floor with the tea and coffee station. Loved that you can leave your luggage there all day after check-out if you need to. The room was very comfortable. I spent a few hours working from the lobby after I checked out, and it has plugs everywhere, and comfy chairs.

A nice, simple hotel near Whitechapel Station, about a 15-minute walk from Brick Lane, where you can find lots of bars and restaurants. The room was clean and had daily housekeeping. I stayed with my friend in a twin room, which was quite spacious and comfortable for both of us :) You can find shower gel and shampoo in the shower, a hairdryer, and there’s a tea and coffee station / hot water on each floor.

The wet room: I didn't like the fact it's just glass so there's not a huge amount of privacy when using the bathroom. There's not a proper gradient or drainage in the wet room so when you shower, water pools all over the wet room and won't drain away, plus there's not much ventilation so the floor just stays wet. It would be useful to have a squeegee provided in order to get rid of some of this. It's a very noisy location so definitely bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The fitting on the blinds isn't snugly fitted so light came pouring through the gap in the morning - bring an eye mask if you need a dark room for sleeping.

A fresh, clean hotel with some personality and all working amenities and a comfy bed with multiple pillow options and a capsule wet room style en suite. The restaurant downstairs served a mean Sunday lunch too.

The wet room, open plan style of the shower meant there was splashing of other bathroom amenities.

Das Hotel ist sehr schön in urbanem Stil gestaltet. Restaurant, Bar, gratis Kaffee/Tee, Dachterrasse, Klimaanlage (!), etc … Eigentlich ein einziges Highlight!

Leider hatten unsere Zimmer einige architektonische „Fehler“, welche eine Top-Bewertung vereitelte: 1. Unsere Fenster (zur Straßenseite) waren derart schlecht schallisoliert, dass es kaum einen Unterschied machte, ob sie geöffnet oder geschlossen waren. Bei leichterem Schlaf ist das sehr störend - in Anbetracht der Belebtheit der Straße. 2. Ich mag es sehr, wenn die Dusche sehr geräumig ist. Hier war der komplette Sanitärbereich ein einziger Raum ohne Trennwände. Chique, aber eigentlich unbrauchbar - nach dem Duschen ist der komplette (!) Fußboden klatschnass. Als Einzelbewohner und Morgenduscher kann man das prozessoptimiert hinbiegen: Duschen als letzter Vorgang vor Verlassen des Zimmers … (Dann muss sich der Room-Service drum kümmern) 3. Nur eine kleine Anmerkung: Wir hatten eine Familien-Suite gebucht. De facto waren es aber zwei getrennte Einzelzimmer (mit jeweils eigenen Schlüsselkarten), welche lediglich durch einen zusätzlichen „Flur“ nach außen mit einer Tür zum Hotelgang separiert waren. Als „Suite“ schwebte mir etwas anderes vor …

Perfect location for 02 concert. Vibe is fab in hotel. Loved the chill out spaces and the rooms to iron with coffee. Very different from the norm. Breakfast was lovely. Reception staff go above and beyond to make your stay the,best.

Im a morning person but a smile in the breakfast room from staff would go a long way. Probs nice people but need to be on it for guests. 😃

The quiet, air conditioned room was a world away from the noisy, roasting hot previous hotel room we escaped. It was an oasis of sanctuary😅 the hotel was a real surprise on the middle Whitechapel. And then it had a swanky restaurant and excellent drinks offers at the bar.

There were signposts near the lifts to the sauna and possibly the jacuzzi, I cannot remember, but they were...nowhere to be found😅we didn't care though- we were there for the air-conditioning.

The hotel was ok but the space in the room was limited with no seating area. The bed was very hard and the bathroom was not ideal for friends sharing due to the frosted glass. We were told that pizza was sold 24hrs but it wasn’t and there were limited facilities in the room to make drinks.

Prima hotel in London, een van de goedkopere. Diner in restaurant ook lekker. Schone kamers. Wij hadden familiekamer met 2 badkamers en 2 wcs. We hebben wat aanmerkingen, maar omdat het hotel voor London-begrippen wel echt goed is, krijgt het toch een dikke voldoende! Schoon, fijn restaurant, mini gameroom, goede uitvalsbasis. Ontbijtkeuze a la carte was prima.

Ontbijt van de kaart was prima, alleen buffetkeuze ernaast was minimaal. Appels, water, sap, losse boterhammen en wat zoetigheden. Geen hartig beleg. Ook het 2e 2persoonsbed op de familiekamer was erg klein, in een bank, waardoor je voor je benen weinig ruimte had. Het is rumoerig buiten (maar hey, het is London) en de badkamer werd zeiknat door slecht werkend putje. Ook viel de airco regelmatig uit. Toch ben ik van mening dat er niet veel luxere hotels zijn voor deze prijs in London.

Hotel molto bello, posizione comodissima a meno di 5 minuti a piedi dalla metropolitana. Gli ambienti sono molto belli. Personale super gentile e disponibile.

A volte è più l’effetto wow che la praticità. Il bagno é un “cubo” dentro la stanza con i vetri che offrono un effetto vedo-non vedo. Cosa che secondo me non è sempre piacevole, capisco però che ormai é un po’ un “trend” degli hotel ahimè. Mancava inoltre un appoggio per le valige zaini, era disponibile solo la piccola scrivania. Per una o due notti va comunque più che bene secondo me.

Niet zoveel ruimte om spullen neer te zetten in de kamer, met 2 personen is het al snel klein. De koffieautomaat per verdieping is poeder waar heet water bij gedaan kan worden.

Loved the overall design of the hotel, our twin room was v comfortable, also stylish. Reception space was comfortable to relax. Nice to have optional spaces incl. the library and pool room. Everyone working at the hotel was really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great location five mins from Whitechapel tube. Excellent value for money.

We did go to investigate the roof terrace, but were underwhelmed when we found it. It had only one table with four chairs in the corner of the terrace - already being used by guests - but the rest of the terrace was completely empty with no additional seating or decoration. It was a decent enough space (size wise) and could look great if there were multiple seating options, plants (think more like the reception area), maybe lights strung up for the evening? It wouldn’t take a lot of work to make it a welcoming space. Right now, it isn’t that.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast and dining area, open until 10pm, which is very convenient. Bed and pillow was very comfortable, AC in the room also a big plus. Rooms was well isolated from outside noise.

If you're sharing a room with someone you don't know too well by the time you arrive, I can guarantee this will change during your stay. The bathroom is a cubicle in the hotel room, with (transparent) glass walls and a glass door, distance between "door" and "wall" was about 2 cm. A small area is covered with frosted glass, but nevertheless: you will do your no. 1 and your no. 2 in full visibility of your travel mate. He will not be spared of any sight or sound.

Heel netjes allemaal. Zeer behulpzaam personeel eten savonds zeer lekker. De buurt is niet de meest hippe buurt maar inorde.

El desayuno excelente, con opciones de dulce y salado similar a un brunch muy elaborados, no repeti ninguno de los días. El hotel impecable, la estética tipo industrial le da un encanto especial, y está cuidado hasta el mínimo detalle. Nos gustó la opción de poder tomar cafe y chocolate en las maquinas de manera gratuita. ENHORABUENA por el.hotel.

Como mejoras, diría el colocar una mampara en el plato de ducha, estaba integrado con el baño sin mampara y al ducharte se mojaba en exceso el baño. Echamos en falta un lugar donde dejar la ropa, o añadir mas perchas. Por lo demás, muy muy recomendable.

For an overnight stay in London the place is great. Everything was clean and it was quiet. Slept very well. It was hot in London and AC cooled nicely .

Les chambres qui donnaient sur la rue plutôt bruyante la nuit (passage de la police avec sirène - des personnes qui discutent bruyamment juste en bas..). Le petit déjeuner pris le 2eme jour finalement assez cher. Pas d' isolation entre la salle de bain et la chambre.

Small rooms but totally fine for the price

The floor was so slippery in the room like polish had been put on it, very dangerous and the design of the bathroom was poor, the floor matts would get soaking wet once showered as the water would not drain away, the room was not sound proof at all so if you have a room on the main road it is very very noisy, this was not made apparent to us. The tea and coffee station was poor quality

A nossa estadia no New Road Hotel foi simplesmente horrível e uma enorme desilusão, começando pela localização: o hotel está situado no pior sítio possível, numa rua super suja, cheia de lixos espalhados e com pessoas muito dúvidosas a rondar, dando uma sensação constante de insegurança. Para piorar, o quarto tem uma disposição inaceitável, com a sanita metida dentro do próprio duche, o que é totalmente desadequado e desconfortável. As máquinas de bebidas espalhadas pelos andares não prestam absolutamente para nada; são apenas de bebidas em pó (tipo ' café em pó, ou chá') em que se deita água quente por cima, e nem sequer têm água fria disponível. Para além disso, nem no quarto oferecem garrafas de água de cortesia. O serviço de refeições incluídas, pelo qual pagámos um valor avultado adicional de 400€, é uma vergonha. O pequeno-almoço é extremamente limitado, repetitivo todos os dias e, para nosso espanto, os bolos e pastelaria servidos são produtos baratos comprados diretamente no supermercado Tesco. O jantar é igualmente mau: impõem-nos um menu fechado, altamente restrito e repetitivo (acabando por comer bife todos os dias), enquanto os clientes externos têm acesso a um menu à la carte completo e variado. As bebidas são todas à parte e apenas oferecem água da torneira. Sentimo-nos completamente enganados do princípio ao fim. Não recomendo este hotel a ninguém. Nas fotos mostro os menus que vão ser iguais todos os dias, nem podem repetir. E mostro a mesa dos bolos que é sempre igual todos os dias, super pequenas, e apenas com bolos da caixa da tesco que mostro noutra foto. Inaceitável.

Liegt sehr zentral, mit Tube oder Bus sehr schnell in der Innenstadt. Multikulturelle Umgebung, sehr sicher. Zimmer sind klein, aber ausreichend. Frühstück lecker mit toller Auswahl, Full English oder Egg Benedikt oder Pancakes, dazu Toasts mit Marmelade (nur Orange) oder Nutella, Kaffe und Tee. Library, Bügelbretter, Billard, Bar und Restaurant. In Summe ein gutes Preis/Leistungs-Ding.

Keine Möglichkeit, Kleider unterzubringen. Duschklo = nach dem Duschen steht alles unter Wasser. Personal sehr freundlich, aber unaufmerksam: Wir mussten bei vier Übernachtungen jeden Morgen erklären, dass unser Frühstück im Preis inklusive ist, mussten darüber auch schon bei der Anreise diskutieren. Außerdem jeden Morgen aufs Neue die Erklärung, dass von uns jemand glutenfrei essen muss.

I didn't like the service; even though the staff seemed pleasant, I felt pressured into buying the breakfast package at a "discounted" rate because they claimed it was a special offer for that day only. They told me I had to book it for several days to get the deal and made me pay £50 upfront, assuring me that I would be refunded if I didn't end up using the credit. The thing is, I saw the sign for that breakfast offer every day—not just the day I arrived—so that was a lie. Furthermore, at the end of my stay, I had two unused vouchers; I assumed there wouldn't be an issue since I had bought them based on the promise that they were refundable. Instead, they told me the vouchers couldn't be refunded and that the credit was only valid for additional hotel expenses. Also, during my stay, I noticed they tried to charge £28 twice—transactions that were declined due to insufficient funds on my card—yet they never notified me about it. All in all, they were very deceptive, eager to squeeze money out of the customer, and completely unhelpful, as they offered no alternative or solution to the situation. I wouldn't go back because, in the end, I felt scammed. Considering it is a four-star hotel, it falls woefully short; the most important things are how the customer is treated and respected, as well as the ability to resolve issues if a mix-up occurs. It is expensive for a solo traveler. It isn't impressive enough to justify the price, and the neighborhood has a rather heavy, unsettling vibe—especially for a woman.

Det eneste jeg ikke likte var at det var ganske harde senger, ellers fornøyd med alt.

Location. Bar area. It was clean. The communal area (library) was useful.

The shower made it wet in the entire cubicle. There was nothing to dry the floor with. It remains wet throughout the night and day. Real design flaw.

Lovely rooms, very dark for sleeping.

Shower flooded whole bathroom making the room a soggy swamp, but more importantly, i called in the morning to advise that i wouldn’t be checking in until late evening and to request a quiet room high up in the hotel, which was agreed. Upon arrival i was allocated a 1st floor room directly above the street entrance and was kept up until after 2:30am by groups of men shouting and playing some kind of game, then by busy, noisy street traffic from 6am.

Love this hotel it’s my go to spot when I need a place in London!

Good communal facilities and restaurant, clean and new.

Absolutely awful location. Directly opposite an abandoned, derelict hospital and in an awful part of town. Dirty and rough area.

Breakfast was disappointing. An English Chophouse should have pork sausages and bacon options. Some items just too sweet!

Had cooked breakfast but it wasn’t that good because it was not cooked enough though the friend egg and turkey bacon were both great

The hotel styling was very well decorated. It’s an industrial look but also comfortable.

There’s nothing I didn’t like about the hotel itself, it’s just unfortunate about its surroundings. For a similar price, you could have a hotel in a much nicer area.
