A lovely boutique hotel. Had an evening meal and breakfast both were lovely. The waiting on staff friendly too. Set in nice grounds.

No WiFi wasnt aware of this before we came asked reception said its been not working for ages. Bit poor to have no WiFi. Also we had underpants and socks of a previous guest in our side table.

Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds and plenty of parking including EV charging. On the whole it is a lovely hotel

The Mattress was really uncomfortable, dipped inwards to the middle. The bed frame was also incredibly squeaky. The staff were great though when I mentioned at checkout

The room size was very good. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

There were issues using the EV charger abd the reception staff was not familiar with how to assist us with this. There was constant water? noise from air conditioning but it did work. The pump dispensers for the soap dispensers were not user friendly as you had to wait between each pump to dispense more soap for showering. Breakfast was limited, I expected more variety in the buffet.

The location was ideal - easiest enough to get to places but further out to enjoy the greenery.

The phone in the room didn’t work, the noise from the event went on until 2am but I had no way of contacting reception and therefore paid a lot of money for a room which resulted in minimal sleep. The room we paid for as advertised on the website is not the room we got. Overall, very disappointed.

Hotel is advertised as having very fast broadband WiFi but there was no access to hotel guest WiFi for all 3 days we were there. The bed in our room was very, very low to the ground so as a very tall 76 year old man this made getting off the bed quite a effort. No fridge in the room. No room safe .

The location was fantastic you were surrounded by Oakland which made you feel that you were in the country side

It's a fine building with a nicevterracw,and very good restaurant. Staff are very friendly.

Unfortunately there was both a wedding and a birthday party on the night of our stay. The music was loud and at 2.40am a resident was outside our door having a very loud argument with a member of staff. It was impossible for us to sleep. We left early at 6am as a result which was a shame

Last minute decision to break up our journey and travel at night in the heatwave. Air con in this heatwave! Quiet. Drove through the middle of a public park.

Didn’t get a chance to enjoy the place as arrived late at night, slept and left early before breakfast was served!

I liked the room size and the bathroom

I didnt like that when i ordered something and it wasnt up to standard and the gnnochi was precooked that i still had to pay for it. They could have offered another dish of the same price. I didnt eat it but i still had to pay 18 pounds for it. This is bad customer service. The staff were fude and arrognant.

Long drive in dark Tgrough park & trying to find reception

We stayed at Winstanley House from 05/04/2026 to 06/04/2026 for a quick break. My wife had just been maid of honour at her sister’s wedding, and I wanted to surprise her with a well-deserved break to help her relax. It was the perfect choice! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Caitlin, who was absolutely lovely. She provided the most wonderful service from start to finish and made us feel so welcome - thank you so much, Caitlin, you were fantastic! Our suite was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a stunning view from the window. The building and grounds are simply beautiful, full of character and charm. There’s also plenty of parking available on-site, which made everything so convenient. We had an amazing time and I’m already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!

We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist and we were even upgraded on our choice of room. Dinner was excellent and the bar had a fabulous selection of wines. The check out experience was excellent and the staff member listened to my feedback and did not charge us for breakfast.

The bed was too firm and I had a very poor nights sleep. This followed by a very disappointing breakfast which left me feeling that I would not stay at this hotel again. I had expected table service with fresh tea/coffee but unfortunately there were two urns with water and coffee both tepid and the coffee was bitter. The choice of continental was limited and it seemed as if there had been no thought behind the offerings. The cooked vegetarian breakfast was let down by undercooked cherry tomatoes on the vine, cheap baked beans which were more juice than bean, no salt and pepper or other condiments available without asking.

We came to stay and attend a wedding here. The booking staff were very attentive. The reception staff were extremely helpful. We had Nice comfortable room in this historic house , The room was well lite with all facilities.

The rooms with large sash windows got cold so the shutters needed to be closed. But the heating was good. Bathroom drainage & towel rail heating were slightly below par.

Just a minor niggle that the poached eggs at breakfast were overcooked. The yolks were solid. We invited 7 of our family who live locally to join us, and several had teh poached eggs, which were all the same. :-)

Room was beautiful and it's a pity we only had a one night stay booked after a funeral so we couldn't make use of all the facilities. Huge bathroom with a bath and seperate shower... We had booked a deluxe double but we were upgraded which was so nice. The bed was very comfortable and a proper king size We opted for a small breakfast but it was lovely. Staff very friendly especially Nico, lovely gentleman.

I had an arm injury and Nabila on reception was very helpful in taking my luggage to my room and re-allocating me into an easier access room.

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were so attentive. Even upgrading our room free of charge.

The room was so hot even with the room fan on and windows open it was extremely warm. Also there was a lot of music playing until midnight and was loud in the room.

We booked a park view double with walking shower & breakfast as we were attending a family wedding reception. It was a massive treat for us to stay overnight & we had been looking forward to it for ages. Totally not disappointed, it was fabulous. The breakfast was faultless & the staff really nice & friendly.

The parkland area around the hotel was a nice walk along with the walled garden. The staff was friendly and answered questions patiently. The breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was lovely.

Arrival was smooth and it was helpful to have two rooms next door to eachother.

We requested one room with a king bed and another room with 2 beds. we got two rooms with queen beds. overall the room was a bit shabby. carpet needs replacement. and for the rate we paid it really should have included breakfast but I guess that's the nature of shifting costs.

The staff were lovely - Nabeena and the two on reception in the morning. Their good humour and helpfulness made all the difference to my stay.

The sink plug didn't work and so I used the shower to clean my teeth! I didn't complain about this however as I didn't want to change rooms.

I didn't find the bed / bedding very comfortable. I expected more for the price.

We had tickets to a local racecdvent so perfect location. Room was lovely. Spotless. Huge comfortable bed. Loved the building and original features such as old shutters. Decor everywhere was beautiful. Evening meal in steakhouse excellent.

Disappointed with the breakfast. Very poor selection of buffet items no croissants or breads. Only orange juice . No choice of yoghurts and very poor fruit offerings. No hams or cheeses and coffee and tea in help yourself thermos dispensers which were cold. No muffins for the eggs Benedict, just 1 very thin slice of toast. After the fabulous evening meal I had high expectations. We were offered fresh hot drinks though when I asked for them.

The building was stunning. Liked how our toilet was away from the sleeping area. TV had streaming apps

Met at the door by Niko - incredible front man for the place. Very welcoming and informative. Superb room. great food and cocktails. The room was large and roomy and benefitted from air conditioning. The food we had in the garden and the restaurant was superb - as were the cocktails. Best Old Fashioned ever!

The sleep! Big reason for staying away from home is a comfy bed and a good nights sleep. We didn't get that. Got disturbed just after midnight by a mob outside the main entrance (below our window) who were screaming, shouting, laughing for an eternity. This went on till at least 1.30am and wrecked the sleep. No consideration by the rabble or control by the property management. Wrecked the visit which you don't expect for the money spent. Angry and disappointed.

Beautiful place. Helpful staff, lovely outside area. It was nice and quiet for sleeping. The bed was comfortable but the pillows less so.

Pillows made my ears hurt. The tap in the bathroom only trickled when moved to cold water. Driving in the area wasn't very nice.

What a lovely place to stay, old country house with plenty of garden / woodland walks immediately outside. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Great value for money.
