Bedsheets and towels fresh and clean
Old property in need of some maintenance Shower in room 207 not good
Central in the town.
The karaoke night in the hotel bar ran until 1am and no one advised us of this when we booked. Further, the reception staff said you won't hear anything with your room at the front of the hotel, but our room was above the bar and horrendously noisy. It spoiled our first night of holiday on an already short break. Ridiculously unfair!
1 night stay, nice, clean room, excellent gentleman in reception, very nice and ready to help.
It was very close to the station as we were going on a train journey
The floor had slopes in it the bed was squashed in a corner room very small
Clean & comfortable
Large room with comfortable bed
We were relocated to a different hotel because of overbooking. Not amused
The only good thing about this place was the location. It's over the road from the bus stop at which I arrived from Inverness, and a three-minute walk from the railway station. Shops are also close by.
One member of staff was friendly and helpful, but the first 'gentleman' I met on arrival gave me the polar opposite of a warm welcome. I'd had an email on booking, clearly stating that I could check in from 3.00 pm. I arrived at 2.30, hoping the room might be ready but happy to wait half an hour. I was coldly informed that I was an hour and a half early. On showing him the email, eventually I was grudgingly allowed to check in 'early' - at 3.20. On reaching the room, there was another man fixing pictures and a mirror to the wall. I eventually had the room to myself. It was barely adequate at best. There was no blind on the bathroom window, and the shower & hot tap remained cold through most of my stay. Other reviews show the futility of complaining, so I just boiled water in the kettle for washing. The coffee in the room was quite the foulest I have ever tasted. Fortunately the tea was a decent brand. Breakfasts were consistently overcooked. The coffee was hardly an improvement on that in the room, and lukewarm some mornings. The 'orange juice' was more like weak squash. Given that this is one of the most expensive hotels I've stayed in, the place is an absolute disgrace and I urge everyone to avoid it.
The staff was nice and friendly and the room was clean.
The shower water took a while to become hot
Chambre vieillissante
it was a roof over our head
Food was awful! Overpriced overcooked frozen food! I asked for a baked potato and beans for my weaning baby, I asked for no butter as he has a dairy allergy, watched the barman write it on the slip. waited over an hour for this to be cooked fresh, it came out with CHEESE on it! the list goes on, it wasnt really suitable for a baby, as it was all upstairs, therfor carrying buggy all the way up! the person who checked us in didn't know what a travel cot was! The same person who checked us in, was working on the bar, and was also the waiter! there was a blood stain on the bedsheet. There was no accessible plug sockets, so we couldnt charge our phones. a sink that leaked everytime it was used!
Tired building but comfortable enough and clean. Ideal for breaki6the journey.
The building was tired, but I expect this is why it was such good value.
Staff were pleasant & helpful
Furniture in room was dated. It took a good 15 minutes running the hot tap before the water become warm enough to take a shower, just an absolute waste of water The light over the bathroom mirror didn't work, so making it difficult to shave. There was no shelf in the shower cubicle to put soap & shampoo on. It would also be useful to have a grab handle in the shower cubicle, to hold onto as the floor was quite slippery.
It was in a good location
The bad was not very comfortable and the base was very noisy when you moved
Location
Booked and paid for a suite to show up and be given a single room, mentioned to staff and was told no suites left. Was given a double room, no apology, no partial refund for extra paid, no attempt to make up for this. So effectively paid for most expensive room and was given basic
Convenient
Very dated
Leaving.
Didn't have breakfast
Good location. Friendly member of staff - barman/receptionist/waiter - he was doing the lot!
Room was cramped and very dated. Main light flashed on and off. Table top not secured to base and fell off when I set my bag on it! Bed uncomfortable and creaky. No bedside light or bedside table.
Good for price. Excellent staff. Food very good value.
No ground floor rooms nor lift. Bedroom doors impossible to close quietly.
Hotel was very clean, staff were great
Food wasn't great
The staff were extremely helpful
It was in a good location for the party we were attending
Iwasis very neglected in the room and the corridors. Our room had a distinct slope in the floor, so that the bathroom door didn't close, curtians in rhe bathroom were hanging off fhe rail and useless. Nowhere to hang towels up to dry. I asked for a quiet room. We were given a room overlooking the exit to the bar area. Loud music carried up to our room until midnight followed by loud patrons outside the bar, and the bathroom was lit up oike a disco.
The town was nice, the hotel staff (2) that we interacted with were pleasant.
Absolutely no sound proofing, the room smelled of wee, assuming it originated from the en suite, which looked relatively new. The upstairs guests were so noisy I thought they were coming through the ceiling, there was a scurrying noise, which we worked out that they too must have had a dilapidated sliding bathroom door too. Now the breakfast:🤣 £12 or £13, it was absolutely rank. You don’t help yourself to the cooked breakfast which is fine as it’s cooked to order??? I’m absolutely not sure what was going on with the fried egg, the outter part of the white was cream coloured🤮, nope, wasn’t touching that, ate the germs coz they weren’t cooked in the same pan as everything else. Watch for the toaster, some eejit had turned it down so other foreign guests kept putting it back in,, so there was a wait. The end.
Large rooms, comfortable beds
Breakfast N/A. Location was good and overall the hotel was very presentable
The bed was very uncomfortable and disappointing considering everything else exceeded expectations based on the price point
Location
Overpriced for the quality of the rooms. A member of staff continuously flirted with me and made me feel uncomfortable
The room was massive even though we had booked the small double room. Friendly staff. Check in straight forward. Breakfast was lovely.
We had a meal in the restaurant. My pasta was absolutely delicious, but my husband didn’t care for his fish and chips, poor quality of fish and his chips were brick hard. He did say to staff who advised they would pass on the comment to the chef.
They cancelled my booking the same day as I was checking in,1 of the busiest days of the year with the Black Isle’s show next day,I tried to find other accommodation but they were all booked,so had to stay with friends
Location was excellent. Bed not very
Double bed wasn't very big. Needs decorated.
We booked the small double room, and it was but it was just for overnight. they were very helpful in putting our cool bricks into their kitchen freezer.
Good location near to railway station, and clean room,
Hotel is very run down, having had no money spent on it for many decades. Seems to be run with minimal staff, though my welcome was friendly enough. Very expensive for what it was- but at £80 it compared well with prices in Inverness in mid July, which almost make Edinburgh look reasonable.
Muito mau
Perfect location right in a town. Good old stylish hotel. Got fridge in a room which is bonus.
Nice clean linen, excellent shower, nice breakfast
Property a wee bit tired and requires some decoration
Great location
That they didn’t honour that our booking included breakfast and wished for us to pay extra to receive what we had booked and paid for prior to trip. That they were testing fire alarms after check in time and not giving time to respond when they checked every room. Something that easily could be done before check in to not disturb new guests.
Central and friendly.
Rooms were tired
Parking at property Price seemed reasonable
The pictures on the website were lovely, but looked nothing like that on arrival. The restaurant and bar had people screaming and shouting when we went in. We did not have breakfast there, just wanted to leave quick. Cigarette burns on the carpet, no hairdryer. floor was uneven in bathroom. Mirrors not clean. Doors adjacent banging. People sitting in different areas of the hotel eating takeaways. We were offered karaoke when we arrived. It was hard to understand what our host was saying.
The shower was lovely.
The carpets in our room were very old and worn. Bird poop on the inside of the window. There was a weird smell but couldn't open the window to get in fresh air, thats when I spotted the bird poop. I felt the room dirty, I really didn't want to stay in it. It was very cheap and I suppose you get what you pay for but saying that I still would expect it to be cleaned properly. The chef was on holiday so no hot breakfast was available. I would not stay here again.
The staff were an absolute highlight. They are the type of staff you would go back and stay at the hotel because of. Really really fantastic. Although we didn't get much instruction on how to find our room the rest of the time they were really friendly. It was also relatively close Inverness
Finding reception was interesting, we kept finding locked doors. It would benefit from clear signage or instructions for check in. The room did not meet my expectation. The photographs made it look more updated and spacious than it was. The decor was quite dated, the floor was very creaky, and the room was roasting! There also was a lack of plugs with accessibility. We also found it quite loud
Spacious room, well ventilated, very clean, good shower, friendly staff, great location, nice building
The bed was not very comfortable and one side was against the wall making it difficult to access. It wouldn't be a problem if only one person sleeping
Not much
It was shabby, poorly maintained, noisy and hot. The carpet was stained in the bedroom.
The Brazilian chap who did almost everything, was cheerful, friendly and very industrious. We were cycling and he sorted out storage and charging for our bikes although it wasn't something that he was regularly asked about. The young lady in charge at breakfast was very pleasant, cheerful and helpful. The hotel is clearly run on a budget, but that was reflected in the price we paid. It served our purpose very well and represented very good value for money.
All okay.
Central location, big and beautiful hotel, nice and comfortable rooms, pet friendly. Lots of parking available.
Wifi was not stable.
The National is in a good location in Dingwall, with most local amenities nearby. When we got there, there was no one in Reception, which had a sign to say we had to go next door to the bar/cafe where we met the manager. He was friendly and welcoming and explained the situation around food etc. The food, whilst more of a bar snack standard, was actually tasty and enjoyable (the burger was good), and cooked by the manager I believe.
We were on the 2nd Floor and as we walked up the staircases, bizarrely the temperature just got hotter and hotter to the point where we were stood outside our door in stifling heat. When we went in our room, it was just as hot, and we found one of the radiators on as well. We were there for 2 nights, and had the window open wide the entire time, which then meant we had disturbed sleep due to traffic and the local drunken eejits howling at the moon. When I spoke with the Manager about it the next day, even more bizarrely, he claimed not to know anything about it, when all he had to do was go up 2 sets of stairs and he would feel the stupid heat. It was uncomfortable and unbearable.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and the location was very handy for our purposes with plenty of free parking.
Room was a bit tired and the layout was awkward, the bed was quite hard and due to the position my partner felt very boxed in. This meant that we didn’t get a great nights sleep.
Easy access nice size rooms
Late booking in
Value for money. Nice place to layover en route to north of Scotland.
Good value for money
Staff excellent 👍
Location
No breakfast, location good
Nice and friendly and good amenaties
All good
Sauberkeit, Funtion der Dusche, sehr kleines Zimmer,
Did for the night but nothing else
Nothing like the illustrations. Building and facilities very tired. Carpet thread bear in places. Shower poor water flow and loose. Looked quite run down.
I liked that the bathroom was clean and the bedroom was clean and the large desk I also liked that there was eleven power sockets in the room, so plenty of access to power.
Possibly a choice of different eggs, offered with breakfast, but apart from that there was a good selection of cold food as well. I was given room 212 and could not see a lift, to get my suitcase upstairs, I was not told if there was lift by the male member of staff who checked me in either. The television was also dated and not had a recent electrical check, the last test was the 6th of March 2015, eleven years ago, I assumed 2013 was when the TV was first brought by the hotel for that room. It was a Technika 16 inch which stopped manufacturering in 2013 so possibly a update would be useful for customers as guests expectations with advanced technology such as Netflix and Amazon prime and having this on hotel televisions means old televisions are not able to provide this technology. However a good thing is that the hotel have been good in keeping the television for so long and protecting the environment Installing WiFi ceiling antennas known as access points around the hotel floors to help improve consistency of speed, as a example the WiFi does not work in the corridor outside room 212.
