Grains Bar Hotel

I stay here regularly now after trying various other options in the area. The staff are friendly and authentic, the owner is always cheery and helpful, the rooms are always clean with comfy beds, any issues are addressed immediately and you will want to try their cheese and onion pie!

Very rarely a guest in another room may get a little noisy but this has always been dealt with appropriately by the night manager and is so infrequent it cannot be put down to the venue but the other individuals staying not necessarily having respecr or awareness of other guests.

Staff friendly and efficient - option of light breakfast included in room was good to have, with option to upgrade for cooked items if you wished. New TVs and WiFi working much better than the old ones last time I stayed - Wifi speed was good and being able to stream directly to TV was very helpful. Location is great and views spectacular.

Room was a bit chilly - no heating provided on second night and I was a bit cold going to bed. Shower in my room wasn't great - either narrow jet blast setting or wider mode was more like a dribble - no happy medium so perhaps a new shower head is needed. Could do with more power points/USB sockets in the room for charging. I managed but it would have been trickier with another person in the room. Also some acoustic transfer issues but that's expected in older properties not purpose-built as hotels.

Good location for our visit to Oldham. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Staff were very welcoming and although we arrived just as the kitchen was closing we drew able to place an order for an evening meal which was hearty and wholesome.

Breakfast was good, we just had light breakfast included in price .Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet.

Bathroom light was very bright! We felt bedroom was quite basic but adequate.

Next time will ask for room at back as to much traffic noise with window open. Constant Jazz music even at breakfast a bit much. Had to pay for room in advance but not able to get an invoice until stayed, so had to wait to claim expenses which inconvenient.

Went for breakfast about 9:15, nobody around, helped ourselves to tea and coffee, but the milk was off and curdled our drinks! After about 10 minutes a waitress asked us if we’d like a cooked breakfast but we already had some toast so said no thanks.

No water in rooms, bath towels were far too small. I think the plastic step to get on and off beds cheapens the shepherds huts.

Wonderful, friendly employees, always making sure everything was okay. Called me to check if we wanted to book a table as it was going to be busy. Didn’t need the table but was appreciative of the sentiment to ensure no disappointment.

There were a couple of flies in our room, but also the weather has been very hot so it wasn’t unexpected.

We thought we would get a room with a viewbut out of 2 rooms 1 room had a nice view but it was super noisy till midnight.

The rooms allocated, the noise and the breakfast options were limited. Hot water was like warm, not warm enough, intermittent and the bath room lights kept going off as it was based on motion detection. We booked two rooms, one of our rooms was right next to the wedding venue, and the music from the party was too loud. I was told about this at reception,

It was so hot! Not the hotels fault there was a heat wave, but no aircon or fan and our room overlooked the courtyard and had direct sunlight. It was like being by the gates of hell! A fan or aircon would have made this a 9 rating.

Next to busy main road. Karaoke singers occupying the main restaurant area were not the best we'd ever heard! ;) GPS took us 100 yards down the road, led down a sheer path. Perhaps reconfigure with Google Maps?

Receptionist really helpful polite and friendly. Bar staff fabulous friendly helpful and great service with a smile. We had a wonderful stay, albeit for just one night. Our room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and high-quality bedding, making for a great night's sleep. The views of the surrounding countryside from our room were beautiful and added to the overall experience. We also enjoyed spending time in the bar, where we met some lovely people, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The weather was excellent throughout our stay, and the hotel offered convenient parking facilities, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and we would happily return.

A shower mat is needed on the shower floor for safety. Serving food could be extended to 8.00pm maybe?

The room was gorgeous, very clean. Staff were super helpful in providing us with the key before attending an event, only to let us know that the room was available before official check in. Life savers!

The night door was a struggle to open and provided a bit panic when trying to get into the hotel late at night.

Clean plenty of parking good location. Breakfast very good we had paid extra for cooked breakfast which was very nicely cooked and presented. Only had one milk option out.

No shelf for toiletries in the bathroom and no where in the shower to put shower gel. Towel rail very high to reach.

I stayed there for two nights. Staff was amazing especially Nichola who helped me in guiding through the local area. Bed is very comfortable, breakfast was really good, location is fantastic and very easy to find.

The rooms need better sound proofing. Next door guest was very unruly and will be heard swearing at 4 in the morning. Toilet flushing, opening closing the doors can be heard very clearly. This really ruined my sleep. No shower gel or shampoo was provided and I had to ask for that. I was given two small bottles of shower gel. It would be nice to have this in description that guests bring their own

It was a beautiful property with outstanding views

There was nothing i didn’t like about the property at all. Unfortunately it was slightly spoiled by another guest shouting after midnight trying to get in.

My go to location when I come back to Saddleworth.

Lovely location. It would be an ideal place for a wedding. Our room was very comfortable.

The continental breakfast was fine. It would be nice to have some yoghurt and a larger selection of fresh fruit. The bed was a little small.

Breakfast - sliced white or Hovis for d-I-y toast ... even a simple breakfast can easily better than this Lack of food that hasn't been fried and vegetarian dishes on the restaurant menu. Doesn't have to be complicated or unlikely to appeal to most customers - a cauliflower or macaroni cheese is easy to knock up.

What a great place, very convenient for M62 and Manchester. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Staff were lovely.

Absolutely stunning. Seriously, so comfortable and just a dream. Everything was so clean and gorgeous. Got everything in the room. Utensils etc. And outside of the room was a whole garden... Nice and huge. Wow. No words. Will definitely return. 10/10.

What a little gem just on the start of the moors. Wonderful staff facilities. Exceptionally clean. Food was fabulous very tasty and large portions. Would definitely stay again. Only 30 minute drive to the ethithad stadium where we saw Take that. Fantastic stay....oh by the way did I mention the stunning views

Booked through booking.com and the way they worded it you had to pay extra for breakfast. This wasn’t the case, breakfast was included but if you wanted a cooked breakfast you had to pay extra.

It was clean, friendly, beautiful & cosy. Staff were very lovely & happy to help if needed. We stayed the night before my wedding we had 9 of us & we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Staff allowed us to drink, eat & play games in the lounge area. Even came & had some snacks with us.

We really enjoy staying here. The staff are very friendly. They make you feel very welcome.

Very scenic drive off the motorway but not far at all. I was shattered and hopeful of a great night's sleep. When I arrived there was a wedding on and I was a little concerned with the noise but the kind lady at reception put my fears to rest by explaining I was at the far end & away from the noise. Which indeed when I got to my room I couldn't hear the party. However the rooms have thin walls and I could hear the people talking in the corridor and in the room next door. Nothing a set of earplugs couldn't fix! The surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning and the receptionist in the morning gave me some good ideas on walks and places to visit whilst I was in the area.

The bed was quite hard for my taste but as I arrived late and just wanted to sleep I didn't ask the receptionist to bother with a topper, although I'm sure if I had asked, she would've tried to find a solution.

We had the included light buffet breakfast, good selection of cereals, juice, tea, coffee, toast, jam & marmalade. All very nice in a pleasant environment

I don't want to write anything negative about the Grains Bar hotel, but truthfully my shower didn't work. the shower head needs replacing as it sprays all over the place and I was unable to shower.

Overall excellent. Staff are a credit to the business. Booked a room for 3, second bed was an uncomfortable fold out couch. Cheap accommodation tho so would stay again. Excellent food too, good value. Pub next door is good.

We booked a room with a view but the only thing we had a view of was the car park and main road. The room was too warm but couldn't open the windows because of the traffic noise. Breakfast was lovely if a little unclear and we were asked to pay before we had even been seated.

Everything was spot on. Staff were very attentive & helpful, nothing was to much. If you're a walker it a paradise I will go again just for the hiking. Our room had everything we needed for a 2 night stay everything was immaculate clean.
