Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location is pretty good, very close to the Hoan Kiem Lake. The staff at the reception is super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Housekeeping staff was nice as well.
2 huge problems: 1. The room has no windows at all! Or rather, it has windows, but they're sealed and can't be opened. The room smells really bad and you can't let any air in - moldy/sweaty smell is your welcoming surprise when you first step in. Bathroom in general smells like feet somehow. Moldy spots and smell, but it's hard to find hotels in Hanoi that don't have this problem. 2. The breakfast. The breakfast area is tiny, the breakfast hours are also very short (shortest we had during a long trip to Vietnam with many stops all over the country). The result is that everybody wants to eat breakfast at roughly the same time, but there's no room at the buffet, and then there are no seats available most of the time. The staff member in charge of seating (yes, they actually need a person to manage this mess) then has to ask people to move to smaller tables all the time, or asks them "you finish?" all the time .... Not very pleasant if people have to move or finish breakfast quickly for you to sit. Also even though there's AC, one side of the room gets hot as hell - this is where the single seats are located (facing the closed blinds), we had to sit there once also as a family of 4, all facing the wall 🤣 Oh and the breakfast buffet also really lacks attractive options - we've had fast better on our trip.
Buen desayuno. Personal muy atento y la habitación agradable
Small room, no place in bathroom to put things
It’s located close to Hoan Kiem lake and the old quarter. The breakfast spread was excellent and rooms were a good size. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel rate is very fair.
Some renovations are needed as the rooms are looking a little tired and need some general repairs. Not unusable, just some updating and fixing or niggling items by high traffic use.

Warm, friendly staff who were keen to help all the time. Breakfast was included and very extensive, including fruit, yoghurt, salads and chicken pho.
It is an older building with the usual limitations e.g. only one small elevator. My premier double room was a very good size, plenty of space. King-sized bed was solid and sheets and towels were all good quality. Plumbing was a bit dodgy, but that’s to be expected in an old town property. It’s clear they are doing the best they can with the building. Room was cleaned every day. Complimentary car from the airport was a very nice bonus. The staff organized a car for me back to the airport on my final day, and it was both inexpensive and much higher quality than any of the higher cars I had been using in the city.
Rated 4 We recently had a fantastic stay at Bencedir Hotel in Hanoi, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, Michael and Heather at the reception made us feel right at home. Their friendliness and willingness to assist with any inquiries or requests truly enhanced our experience. They provided us with great local tips and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The food at the hotel was another highlight. Each meal was delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. It was a pleasure to try different dishes every day, and the quality was consistently high. Room cleanliness was impeccable as well; the daily cleaning service ensured our space was always tidy and well-stocked with amenities. It’s clear that the hotel places a strong emphasis on guest comfort. Additionally, the location is perfect for exploring Hanoi. It’s conveniently situated near many attractions, making it easy to immerse ourselves in the local culture. Overall, our experience at Bencedir Hotel was exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi. The combination of helpful staff, tasty food, and great location makes it a top choice!
Great hotel in an excellent location, with easy access to basic services, restaurants, and the night markets. The staff were incredibly friendly and always happy to share helpful local information. Breakfast had plenty of variety, with a few items changing daily. I’d recommend upgrading your room for the extra space if possible. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay here again.
ad a great experience. The hotel is perfectly situated within walking distance of shops, local attractions, and the night markets. The team are warm, attentive, and always willing to help with recommendations and advice. The breakfast selection is generous, with some different options offered each day.
If not because of the good customer service by the staff, I will rate my experience here as 2 stars. We had a great time in Hanoi but if this hotel is good, then our trip might be a wonderful one. Seriously this establishment need to be renovated so that it can serve guest better. Even though the price that we paid is affordable, the quality should be up to the standard. Most of the pictures shown is not up to date and it gave us wrong impression about this hotel and it could be confusing for guests. I would not want to post or upload any pictures of this hotel because we respect the staff at Bendecir Hotel & Spa. Cleanliness is an issue here. I wish the team well and all the best in the future. Terima kasih. 🙏🏼
I planned a 10-day tour to Vietnam, and my first hotels in Hanoi and Da Nang were excellent. For the last 2 days in Hanoi, I booked Bendecir Hotel and Spa, and honestly, that was my biggest mistake. I booked two Executive Deluxe rooms for my family and kids, but the hotel provided rooms on the 4th and 7th floors. I requested nearby rooms or rooms on the upper floor, but they informed me they had only one deluxe room per floor. Anyway, we accepted the rooms, but after entering, the experience became horrible. The bed had long hair on it, the AC was not working properly, and when we tried to call reception, we found the phone wire broken and disconnected. The hotel is extremely narrow and feels very suffocating, almost like being inside a narrow tunnel. The next morning during breakfast on the 13th floor, there were no labels in front of the food items, so you could not even understand what you were eating. The kitchen and dining area were very congested. While sitting at the table, AC water was leaking from the ceiling. Most staff members could not understand English, so even asking about food items became difficult. Another major issue was the single lift in the hotel. Since staff members were also constantly using it, guests had to wait 4–5 minutes many times just to use the elevator. Even the lift had a smoking smell despite the hotel claiming to have non-smoking rooms and signs everywhere. The images shown on TripAdvisor are completely different from reality. Online photos look bright, clean, and luxurious, but the actual hotel is dull, poorly maintained, and badly in need of renovation. Overall, it was a very bad experience and felt like a nightmare during the final part of our trip. The biggest relief was checking out and leaving for the airport. After this experience, I will never blindly trust TripAdvisor reviews again. It was a big lesson for me. No way it was 4 star hotel its worst than 1 star.
We has a wonderful 4-night stay in this hotel in Old Quarter Hanoi. The staffs were incredibly warm, friendly, and very accommodating throughout our stay. They always greeted us with a smile and were ready to assist with anything we needed, making us feel truly welcome and comfortable. The room were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the city. The location also very convenient since it is with in walking distance to many tourist spots, night market, and restaurants in the Old Quarter. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommended this hotel to anyone visiting Hanoi. It definitely made our trip more relaxing and convenient!
Although the lobby isn't the prettiest, the rest of the hotel is! The rooms are stunning with comfortable beds, blackout curtains and sturdy walls to block sound along with a slick bathroom. You also get a discounted drink at the rooftop bar when you stay and the hotel is located in the fantastic French Quarter. Practically a steal in their nightly rate!
Friendly staff. Very good location near the center.
The infrastructure seems relatively modern but lacking a bit of maintenance, specially in the bathroom.
Very nice hotel, very friendly staff, the breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had, it was so good. Great location, easily walkable to most places Rooftop bar h
The rooftop bar has great views but unfortunately we were too busy to relax up there. Location is very good and close to the lake.
Unfortunately there wasn’t a walk in spa to get a massage, you have to phone reception for them to arrange for a masseuse to come over. Not super clean and shower flooded due to uncleaned drains so we had to clean them out.
If mouldy shower curtains and dirty lifts are your thing, then maybe this is for you. The location is great, but you hear the noisy streets of Hanoi city until early in the morning. The whole hotel feels quite claustrophobic but we did have a big bed and seems like a bigger room comparing to what I have read from other reviews. Overall the hotel is in serious need of a renovation… or at the very least, a deep clean. HOWEVER, there is one absolute gem: the sky bar. It’s beautiful. You get amazing views over the whole city, and the cocktails are strong and actually really good. Breakfast was okay, nothing memorable. Stay for the location maybe, visit for the sky bar definitely but otherwise I won’t be coming back to this hotel.
This is a great location. Ive stayed here a few times and enjoyed it every time.
I was in the tiny room. This hasn't been an issue in the past when I was out and about all the time But unfortunately had to spend more time in the room and it definitely felt small.
Central location in old quarter. If you are looking for shopping in old quarter then only choose this location. Rooms are very conjusted. No room for movement. Same is case with bathroom. We got it in around 45USD. Value wise it's good property but if you are looking for lavish stay you can avoid this. Not much options for Vegan in breakfast.
The friendly staff & Location
Cocktail bar furniture was uncomfortable, needs more cushions. Bathroom needed sone attention.
The hotel is in a perfect location, only a 5 mins walk to the lake, super central. The room was modern and clean, which made our experience super comfortable. Although Hanoi is a very busy city and we had a room with a window to the street, we didn't hear a thing at night, not even from other rooms, so a good night of sleep is guaranteed. The staff is super very friendly and they help you with whatever you need, that was definitely the jewel of the crown for us.
Maybe more Vietnamese options for breakfast, but I know the hotel needs to adapt to a wide range of guests, so it wasn't a big issue. Food was good and more than enough for breakfast.
We had 2 magnificent nights in Hanoi. The staff, receptionists were amazing, they effortfully took care all of our requests and exceeded our expectations. We booked Rita cruise in Halong Bay and they referred us this hotel in the Old Quarter and that was a great choice.
Good location General safety Staff responsiveness and kindness
The rooms are quite small.
I liked the location of the hotel. It was just 5 mins walk away from central Hanoi.
The room had a seepage smell and it was in a tall small building very closed.
The hotel is located in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, which is very convenient, with most attractions, restaurants, and shops within easy walking distance. Having an elevator was a big plus, especially with heavy bags. The room was on the smaller side but featured a comfortable, large bed. As we had an early departure, the staff kindly prepared breakfast bags to take with us, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch.
The soundproofing of the room could be improved, as we could hear our neighbours quite clearly. In addition, even with the windows closed, outside noise could still be heard, including people shouting in the street. Other than that, there was nothing negative to mention.
The location was amazing with all tourist attractions nearby. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was yummy. If you are looking for a convenient place to stay while touring Hanoi, this is perfect for you. Really friendly staff and room service make this place awesome.
The rooms were a bit small and had no windows.
Staff were very friendly and supportive. The breakfast was also great.
The hot water in the shower was extremely hot, which caused a burn for my kid, so it would be good to lower the temperature.
Good location, clean room, hospitable staff, 24 hour reception
Something was leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom, room was dark
The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff were polite and professional, making the overall experience easy and stress-free.
Staff were polite and professional. The room was clean, comfortable, and met all basic expectations for the price. Nice
The staff were all excellent, particularly Kathy at reception. She was so welcoming, kind and helpful. Always ready to answer any questions you have, she even helped me locate something I had lost outside the hotel! The location was fantastic, very close proximity to all the main attractions in Hanoi. Walking distance to the lake, markets, bars, shops and restaurants!
Some updating/maintenance of the rooms would make a big improvement. For instance the toilet seat was broken in our room, and I think the shower curtain should be replaced with a shower screen. Other than this everything else was fine. Although the room was clean, it could be cleaner. Better dusting and wiping down surfaces properly.
Excelente el trato del personal
Varía mucho la calidad de las habitaciones , estuve 5 días en diferentes fechas y las habitaciones fueron muy distintas , algunas sin ventanas ni aire acondicionado
Very comfortable hotel in an excellent location for both the old quarter and french quarter. Varied and good breakfast buffet. The skybar on the 14th floor is a fantastic place for a drink But most of all the staff and incredibly helpful and friendly. They organized a trip for me and then helped change it when my plans changed. They were just so helpful
Personen vriendelijk en voorkomend.
Geen raam in de kamer.
Good customer service in a convenient location.
God plads på værelse, god lokation.
Slidt, og meget lille elevator, som knagede en del.
Great location.
It's not a clean hotel. The breakfast was ok, but if you're a westerner, you might not like it.
The staff were so helpful, with lots of information on the area. The rooms were lovely.
Good location. Clean and comfortable.
A little run down and could hear other guests but maybe just noisy neighbours.
Conveniently located near tourist attractions and night markets, with easy access to transportation. Delicious food at affordable prices.
I’d love a room with a view, if possible.
Comfortable beds and location in the city. Close to our favourite places.
We were not keen on the amount of time we had to wait for a lift at times.
We stayed at this hotel both before and after a tour and had a wonderful experience. Not only is it close to everything but the staff went out of their way to help us including sending a package home for us. Many thanks to all staff who were so friendly attentive and super helpful. Totally recommend
I had a very disappointing experience at Bendencier Hotel. The staff did not provide any reminder or communication regarding the check-in time, and instead of being helpful, their behavior was rude and unprofessional. Hospitality is the heart of any hotel, but sadly, this was completely missing here. Definitely not what I expected, and I would not recommend this place to others
I have been to this hotel for the second time, last year in March and this year in April. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are spacious and clean. The mattresses are clean, comfortable and the air conditioning works well, the water pressure is also fine, which is sometimes a problem in these many-storey hotels, but we did not experience any problems here. I also like that the hotel offers late check-in, but even if you do not want to use it, they allow free luggage storage in their lobby with a couch where we can wait until the flight, I also really appreciate the opportunity to shower before departure, when they provided us with clean towels.
I think the hotel could do with some work on the dining room where breakfast is served. The selection is sufficient and the food is tasty, but the dining room feels outdated, it would deserve a proper deep clean, and the air conditioning drips water from the ceiling directly onto the food on the table, which feels unhygienic.
The shitter would not take a good dump
very friendly stuff
I had a wonderful experience during my stay here. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and nice, especially Yen. Their breakfast was delicious, offering a wide range of both Vietnamese and Western dishes. The room had everything I needed for a comfortable stay, and the location was convenient, close to almost everything.
Loved the location and surprisingly very spacious rooms as compared to the general hanoi room size. The lake is literally 2 steps away, and everything is nearby.
Very cozy hotel! Convenient location and helpful staff. I recommend it.
Nice friendly staff, good location, convenient.
Very nice hotel, nice staff and mickael the manager is the best! Room are clean, the view on the top is amasing. Near everhthing!
The stay was really good and also they have upgraded our room so the view from room is also magnificent and also food is really good.
We returned to stay here as we'd enjoyed our previous stay. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the location was great for the old town. We enjoyed relaxing drinks in the rooftop bar too
Very comfortable hotel, rooms clean and cool, staff very friendly and helpful. Great location for the old town, and we loved the rooftop bar for the views across the city.
Awesome location, easy access everywhere you need for Hanoi. Workers are very friendly and helpful. Michael and Hoa are excellent customer service, they are very welcoming. Breakfast buffet is very fresh and great options. They have great options tours. THE best.
This is our 3rd stay here and yet again it was fantastic. Staff greet you on arrival, helping you with your bags (even from across the road!) and from there they continue to assist you during your stay - always friendly and always with a smile! Location is perfect - just a short walk to great food, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Water Puppet show to name a few. Room is spacious, clean and welcoming. Can get a little noisy when the windows are open but that’s all part of the experience!
Clearly nothing - we’ll no doubt be back for a 4th visit!
We enjoyed our stay! Every staff were really caring and friendly. We got to try different Vietnamese food from here and wee loved the food they prepared! I loved how clean my room was after coming back tired. I was very happy with your services. We loved our stay. Thank you for your hospitality!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location. Rooms clean and comfortable.

Areas to consider
Cleanliness
9/10Mostly praised (daily cleaning, described as impeccable in several reviews) but one guest reported cleanliness issues and urged renovation, so a slightly reduced score reflects that mixed feedback.
Service
10/10Consistently highlighted as a strong point: warm, friendly and helpful staff (names mentioned), organized transport and complimentary airport car, attentive reception.
Location
10/10Repeatedly described as prime and convenient for attractions, shops and night markets; ideal for exploring Hanoi and within walking distance of many points of interest.
Room Quality
10/10Rooms noted as spacious with good beds, quality linens and daily cleaning; some minor issues mentioned (older building, occasional plumbing quirks) but overall room comfort was rated very highly.
Amenities
9.8/10Breakfast is extensive and varied; complimentary airport car and helpful concierge services were appreciated. Building is older with limitations (small elevator), so amenities are strong but not flawless.
Value for Money
9.6/10Generally seen as affordable with good included services (breakfast, airport transfer) though one guest felt photos were misleading and quality below expectations; overall good value.
Food and Beverage
10/10Frequently praised: breakfasts extensive with fruit, yoghurt, salads and pho; on-site meals described as delicious with a wide variety of options.
Overall Experience
10/10Multiple reviewers described their stay as exceptional and would happily return; strong recommendations overall due to staff, location and food.
