Rooms very good. Location good.
Staff shortages a real problem. Unstaffed reception. Limited staff in attendance doing their best against the odds. Ambience in bar and restaurant lacking.
Location was ideal for a short walk into Ludlow. Large bedroom & large bed. Breakfast was nice. Dinner menu had great vegetarian options and the food was delicious. Staff were very friendly and efficient.
There was nothing we disliked. The bedroom furniture could be arranged better, eg- the fridge took up space in the wardrobe. (Room 22)
Lovely location and beautiful surroundings. Food was good in the evening and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The blinds were broken in places, in the room we stayed in and the base of the bed was stained and not particularly attractive. Neither of which affected their use, but just made the room feel a little scruffy and run down.
A lovely friendly atmosphere with excellent food that was well presented.
Not enough hangers in the wardrobe!
Comfortable room, great staff, great breakfast, nice bar area, good large carpark
A little walk out of the town, but perfectly doable and around 15 to 20 minutes
Nice venue. Very comfortable but not pretentious. Nice big room. Quiet but handy for Ludlow. Excellent breakfast and nice evening meal
Comfortable beds, excellent breakfast.
A bit out of town. Need a car.
Very welcoming staff. Excellent food and facilities
Short staffed
Excellent overnight stay 👌
Good size room, beautiful views, both dinner and breakfast was well prepared, cooked and presented.
Nice big room with comfy bed
It was a bit far to walk into town
Very friendly staff , beds comfy breakfast excellent shower amazing
Swepps tonics
Lots of easy parking and greeted by a welcoming receptionist. The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable with a big bed, the view over the Shropshire hills was beautiful. We had dinner and breakfast and both were a high standard. We didn't use the spa facilities on our visit, but maybe next time! The hotel was not as busy as we expected, (don't understand why), we would certainly stay again.
Country location, but near town centre. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room.

Location. Good room Excellent parking.
Breakfast was poor. Undercooked sausages and bacon. No fresh fruit. Limited continental choice.b
Spa treatments were very good & spa staff extremely welcoming and helpful
We have stayed previously and always enjoyed the welcoming staff and homely atmosphere, this was missing this time, everyone seemed to be stressed and not knowing how things operated. There was a very limited drinks menu, even the most common of drinks weren’t available & little non alcoholic choices. Previously we have enjoyed cocktails in spa area and although the spa girls did the best to accommodate out requests, it wasn’t possible due to limited drinks menu. It felt as if we were in a closed hotel at dinner as only us there ( Friday evening) so no atmosphere and we felt we had to go to bed as no welcome ( or staff) in bar as we have previously experienced. The waitresses clearly wanted us to finish eating so she could finish their shift ( it was 8.45pm) The food was very tasty, the restaurant just lacked atmosphere and welcome. If there are new owners maybe some opening discounts would attract more guests? I agree the hotel is looking tired and for what we paid I was surprised we no longer had biscuits in the room - its the small touches that makes a difference when you are paying a decent rate for a stay. Hoping new owners put some time and investment in to brit back to the standards we had in previous visits
Comfortable twin bed room Breakfast was excellent with an extensive range 5 minutes by car to the centre of Ludlow Free car parking as everywhere in Ludlow is metered! Staff were pleasant at all times
No issues
Nice big room Nice stroll into ludlow
Only 2 tea bags per day !!
Lacked warmth and was very bland. Lighting fixtures were flaky in the bedroom. Extractor fan in bathroom was very loud and fan in room too loud to use. Breakfast was mediocre .
The staff were pleasant and the room was acceptable.except there was insufficient items to put a toothbrush , No decaf tea or a biscuit as hotels provide and there could have been cups available for tea.
As for breakfast my wife asked for porridge which took 25 minutes to be provided, I asked for a cooked breakfast Of bacon beans and scrambled egg after 25 minutes I had cold beans cold scrambled eggs and thin bacon far from the standard I have experienced in other hotels, When I told a staff member and to be fair she did apologise And asked if I wanted another breakfast but I declined.
Excellent.
Room was clean, tidy, everything you needed. Friendly staff. Quite location. Open spaces. Breakfast amazing. Will definitely return.
Comfortable and great breakfast
What could be a beautiful hotel. Lovely georgian building. Fabulous little spa. Friendly staff Spotlessly clean room, bedding and towels. Basic hot drink facility in the room. Complementary toiletries - shower gel, hand soap. Tasty, well cooked breakfast. Quiet and pretty location. Good parking. Ability to control heating in the room to preferred temperature. Comfy pillows and good quality bedding.
A little tired, cracking paint on windowsills, crack in wall above headboard and stained carpet. "King size" bed was 2 beds together with a very noticeable join in the middle. Considering booked as a "luxury" room, tea/coffee selection was limited and cheap with no extra touches like biscuits. Very weak tea and coffee at breakfast. Only one waitress serving at breakfast..did her best! Garden area needs some upkeep. With the luxury room....considering no door on the bathroom (toilet or shower behind a wall) would need to be very easy going on privacy if staying with company!
Close to amazing town. Beautiful views over countryside.
Definitely needs a revamp, clean up (loads of dead flies), the dining area is very lacking, staff just a bit young and inexperienced.
Really nice surroundings, nice pleasant staff, large room
Nothing
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely hotel in a beautful location. The room was good size, very well decorated with fabuloud country views. The fan was welcome in the heaywave. Very dog friendly. Cant recommend enough for a short break. We walked into Ludlow easily in 20/25 mins.
Nothing
Staff friendly. Excellent food. Countryside location. Instant hot water. Spa facilities on site.
No full length mirror in room
Beautiful, well kept building Staff very friendly Food was gorgeous Would recommend
Nothing
Breakfast exellent.Staff very helpful and friendly
Not keen on open plan bath, shower and toilet facilities.both of us elderly and found it difficult in shower as there were no grab handles on wall.steep step from bedroom to toilet and shower. We should have mentioned this before arrival, however.
Spa massage from Sophie was excellent best Ive had Wonderfull view from room
Stingy at breakfast 1 tomato 1mushroom 1 bacon
Decor and cleanliness.
Great room in lovely building in a stunning location. Good parking. A good price especially at a busy time of year.
The breakfast had limited options if you did not want a cooked meal. Basic cereals and no fresh fruit available. Only one type of fruit juice was available on the first morning and no chilled water. There was an extra fruit juice and chille water on the second morning which was better. The options were much better on previous visits.
A lovely location and walking distance into the town. Easy parking and very friendly staff. My room and clean and bright overlooking the garden, no aircon but a fan was provided. A lovely walk-in shower too.
Fairly limited choice of food for dinner but what I had was good. Breakfast was a little disappointing, slow service and very limited fresh fruit/pastries
Still a lovely hotel with nice rooms and lovely Rural location. Staff were very nice.
Sad that this place (where we got married!) has moved away from it's focus on excellent food and offering a more budget experience. With that said the price did reflect his
Bed was comfy
Hotel was v tired curtains damaged, carpet dirty & musty,
Location , hotel room and staff were excellent
Nothing
Location is out of town, but it's peaceful, with a decent view if you're sat on the patio. Staff were friendly. Room was ok, with a good view of the hills.
Food was disappointing. First night we each had steaks that were bland, little flavour, no sauce. Second night, my fish meal was tiny and lukewarm. The roast beef arrived without gravy, with a spinach and garlic sauce instead! Bizarre! Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast beef - should come with gravy! Website pictures are a bit misleading.
Comfortable room with excellent shower/wet room. Good value for money and excellent staff.
No air conditioning but a fan was provided and much appreciated.
Good choices for breakfast and dinner. Very peaceful and relaxing surroundings. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely recommend the hotel to our friends. Plenty of parking available.
Limited choice of fruit at breakfast.

Warm welcome,, room was ready early. Dinner and breakfast very good, Comfortable room, good parking.
Would have been perfect if a little closer to town . However the countryside around was very pretty and relaxing.
Breakfast was excellent
Lovely house. Room is nice . Food in evening was very good. Staff vwry helpful

Staff friendly and welcome
Spa staff could not accommodate the booking so had to cancel treatments
Great location. Staff members were pleasant. I broke down on my way and the chap who answered the phone (when I let them know I would be late) asked if there was anything they could do. The shower was big enough for 10!
As I booked through booking.com the price was great, however the hotel is lacking overall and is not worth the £215 a night stated on the website. They seem to be lacking staff as the same woman who checked me in late was at breakfast early. The two staff members I saw were very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, but in need of redecorating as does the whole hotel. Pillows are a bit thin, but as I was on my own I used all four! There's odd furniture in the corridors, some of which is broken. The windows were open when I arrived as it was a very warm day. However the towel rail was on (didn't find out until the morning) so it got a bit hot. The food was fine. Evening room service had to be ordered at the bar. Salmon was a bit overcooked and sides/sauce were a bit tepid.
Great value hotel, comfortable bed and walk in shower. Nice spacious bistro restaurant complete with quality cooking/menu

Lovely room and great staff. Breakfast was excellent.
The restaurant was a little bit tired but the rest of the hotel was great.
Loved having a separate entrance and size of room was good, nice having a small separate sitting room, fab having a fridge, bathroom was spacious, plenty of storage
Not anything to dislike, but would have been nice to have a couple of small tables for somewhere to put your cups/glasses. Table we sat at in the conservatory for breakfast was terribly wobbly, even though we tried to stabilise it by moving it around, everytime we cut our food the drinks were getting spilt! There was only 1 bed with a table lamp. Also had to improvise by balancing a lamp on the sofa so I could read, as that side of the room was darker!
The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean, set in beautiful surroundings. The room was spacious and clean.
Decided to eat in the restaurant in the evening...unfortunately it was not a great experience. They don't have a particularly extensive choice of main courses (7 or 8?) but half of the options were, for some reason, unavailable! Not good enough really. The continental and cooked breakfasts were, however, very good.
It is an impressive building and the rooms were a good size and comfortable
The restaurant food was the worst we have ever experienced - the opposite of the description on the web site, cheap ready made ingredients, boil-in a bag type dishes with no taste or nutritional content. How they have the cheek to describe the dining experience as they have is shocking!!!!!!
nice garden to sit in
care of the building
Great location with lovely views around the property
The property is extremely tired and in desperate need of some attention. The carpet in our room was covered in stains, the blind slats were snapped and broken, you couldn’t open the blinds at all. Staying in room 3, our window was above an outdoor area for the staff. They were constantly banging, shouting and swearing, including early in the morning. The breakfast service was slow, only one member of staff for the entire hotel. The cooked breakfast was inedible. Considering the price, it was very disappointing .
The location.
The hotel was very tired looking and one of the walls in my room had a large crack in the plaster running from the floor to the ceiling which split the wallpaper. I reported this to one of the staff. The hand cream dispenser in the bathroom hadn’t been replenished so I asked for a refill but was told they were not ordering any more so I had an empty dispenser. There was no apology & I was quite shocked at how indifferent the staff were to the shortcomings I raised. We did not choose to have dinner there in the evening because of the disappointment we felt in the quality of the building.
The room was a very good size,,,the fan was welcome and very needed...the shower was a good size as well ,,,the bed was huge and very comfortable The hotel is about 20 in walk into town so it's location is ideal
The breakfast wasn't the best ,it was cooked to order which is always a bonus but was cold and under cooked when it came out The dinner menu only had a few choices but upon ordering a few of the dishes wasn't available which left very little choice
Lovely room with countryside views. Everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable & enormous. The shower was large & efficient. The hotel is a short drive from the town centre with plenty of free parking after 6pm. We found a superb pub for our evening meal & took a walk around the town. We would happily stay here again, but would not bother with breakfast.
Breakfast was a bit average. Staff seemed a bit formal, lacking in friendliness.
Room was excellent
Evening meal menu could have had more choice and then charged extra for service on bill !
Spacious room
Bathroom smelly drains
I have stayed at this hotel on 6 occasions. Hotel building is beautiful, it has stunning views and the rooms are lovely. It is a bit out of town being about 1.5 miles away from Ludlow. Staff are friendly, breakfast was good.
The main reason for staying was to experience the high quality fine dining. Unfortunately, the hotel has changed hands. We had booked a table for 4 of us to celebrate my friend's birthday to discover the menu was more Bistro Pub type food and only 2 out of 5 meat options were available. We then had to find a restaurant in Ludlow as none of the options appealed.
Great location, friendly staff, good service, comfortable and clean room, excellent breakfast. Would definitely return.
No issues at all. Everything was great.
The location and facilities
The level of service was variable- all always very pleasant but not always present.
Lovely building & garden
Lovely comfortable room
Nothing
The food was delicious, we had a meal in on the evening which was lovely. The breakfast was also good. The staff were friendly & helpful
The only small issue we had was that we had requested a twin room but that information was not transferred from booking.com so the beds had to be sorted after we had arrived. It was sorted out quickly
Beautiful Georgian building in a lovely setting, absolute pleasure to stay here, will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Ludlow. Staff extremely helpful and the food was excellent.
Well maintained, comfortable and professional service
The room was comfortable as far as the bed was concerned but the alternative seating was not very relaxing. The shower was lovely and roomy but the water pressure was quite low making it hard to de-soap!! The fan and water were appreciated in this hot weather.
It is a dog friendly hotel but there is nowhere within the grounds to walk him round. Some guidance on where to take him nearby would be helpful.
Lovely location, friendly staff, amazing breakfast, great spa facilities
Nothing
The staff and location
The breakfast was huge and very good , the hotel was lovely and quiet
We had to wait over an hour for our evening meal
Location great. Cosy hotel, lovely big, clean rooms. Great to have a fridge, which had complimentary water and milk. Tea was of good quality (not PG or Typhoo rubbish). Nice, relaxed atmosphere, quiet and places to sit in the evening. Staff were lovely.
It was a little frustrating that there were so many food items not available, although stated on the menu.. We asked for brown bread for sandwiches, to be told after the order was taken that they had run out of brown bread, the following evening we ordered our evening meal, one item not available, so ordered something different, then have the young man come back again to say another item not available! In morning we asked for croissants, again, none available.
Overall our stay was excellent value and felt we were looked after well by all staff (front our house, restaurant and Spa).
Nothing.
It was amazing, staff so helpful room was luxurious slept really well breakfast was also truly amazing couldn’t fault the hotel at all worth every penny will be going again with family
Very clean Tentative staff Food amazing Rooms had wet room bathrooms Breakfast fantastic Will be going again worth every penny
All of the facilities provided, very clean, smelt nice, staff all very smiley & joyful. Very old school values with a modern twist. Food was lovely, served promptly and lots of choice. Bed comfy, furnishings and fixings we're very good too. A lovely walk to Ludlow Castle for Ludlow Live, perfect location for exploring. Ludlow, is steep in history and we loved it.
Air conditioning, as a women in late 40s, hormones raging, 30+ degrees i struggled in the room with my Asthma as the air was hugely dry. Although a fan was provided, all it did was blow hot air around. I ended up wetting a towel to put on me, to cool my body but to also add moisture to the air. Maybe, look into upgrading rooms with AC as the environment changes its a regular thing now.
Location, comfort and spa
Food was average, stay was expensive albeit it was during two weeks of concerts in the castle.
Lovely old manor hotel in beautiful settings and close to the Town a short walk away
All was excellent
Lovely room with a view. It was clean and tiidy, exceptionally large bathroom with shower and bath. Bottled water in mini fridge. Very comfortable bed. Beautiful surroundings/gardens. Peaceful and tranquil, what you would expect from a spa hotel. Food very nice and plentiful.
No friendly welcome on arrival, felt very transactional. Shampoo and shower gel in shower appeared to have been watered down so used the dispenser over the bath. For most of the breakfast service only one waitress meaning uneaten food left on tables of guests who had finished, however she was very pleasant and food/drink was brought out quickly. Check out was at 11am, which we did, but no one on reception to check we had enjoyed our stay. Felt like hotel was being run on minimal staff albeit there did appear to be more staff in the spa building. Would have liked some soft background .music at breakfast as it was all very sombre.
The staff were very nice
Poor repair no cushions on outside furniture Bedroom very warm no air con Poor choice at breakfast no fresh fruit and sausages were very poor quality. Not value for money !!!
Location and parking
Hotel staff and facilities fall far short for the price charged
Location of the hotel was not far from the town, in peaceful countryside with plenty of free parking. Very nice decor and furniture throughout. Bedroom was spacious and clean with a view over the garden towards hills. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was helpful to have the small fridge in the room, especially as there was a heatwave. Staff were friendly and pleasant throughout. The cooked breakfast was very good with a variety of choices and served to the table. For a reasonable additional charge we enjoyed using the spa facilities, which were very clean and well-maintained. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed after a peaceful overnight stay and hope to return soon.
Nothing to dislike - all very good thank you.
The room was spacious and we'll equipped. The en-suite shiwer roon was great. Quiet location. Staff at breakfast are friendly snd very efficient
There was no-one on reception when we arrived and we were ignored by staff behind the bar. There was no greeting or welcome given and inot much nformation. We asked about late entry and were assured that the door would be open. However, we and other guests found ourselves locked out at 11.45pm. There was no answer when we called reception, and we only got in because we disturbed another guest who got up to let us in.
Good location, quiet. Clean & comfortable .
Location was very important.
The peaceful location, lovely views, Temple Spa products in bathroom. Helpful staff. Rooms comfortable with everything you’d need for a nights stay.
Nothing really! Maybe some parts need a little maintenance and spruce up but nothing that spoilt our stay.
It was a lovely characterful building in the countryside. Views from our room were of fields. Lovely and peaceful!
The only downside was the communal carpets were quite worn.
Lovely and secluded. Only 2 miles away from ludlow. Staff were great food was excellent. In this hot weather it was lovely they had a bar. Room was great nice big king bed lovely walk in shower. All round it was just great
Nothing
Clean and welcoming
No views. Very slow breakfast service
The location was grand. We had a nice view of the main road on looking the fields.
The breakfast was actually disgusting (sorry). Myself and my partner could not finish it, we waited nearly 30 minutes for a simple breakfast, it wasnt even busy but we politely waited and was greatly disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. I paid over the odds for soggy strawberrys left in a broken fridge which couldn't keep cold enough with prosecco that equally wasnt cold on arrival sadly. The bucket should have been filled with ice, but instead it was just water to keep it cool, not cold. Asking staff simple questions about location taxi, surroundings were quite useless. They were very young.
Very comfortable and well located
The location was good and the staff were friendly.
The room didn't look very clean. Found hair that shouldn't be on the bed on it. The shower wasn't very clean and the floor sloped.
Struttura accogliente e pulita. Camere curate e silenziose, colazione buona. Soggiorno piacevole.
Breakfast met our expectations .
Because of the unusually high UK temperatures , the bedroom was very hot - no air conditioning ( not normally required in previous stays ) .
The staff here are all very friendly & helpful & efficient. The ground floor room was perfect for my husband who uses a walking stick. It was well equipped & spacious.
Both the room & public areas could do with a deep clean. Bedding etc was clean, however the room had lots of cobwebs & the blinds etc were very dusty..The bathroom floor & tiles also looked dirty. There were also several dead flies on the window ledge in the dining area. This would not stop us from visiting again, as we did really enjoy our stay, however I feel that it should be addressed.
Easy parking - spa facilities
Looks bit old and tired, room cleaning below expectation and breakfast needs improvement, such as fresh fruit and sourdough bread. Our room was very hot and hard to sleep
We loved the location. The staff were amazingly helpful. The spa was lovely and the massage we booked perfect, staff were very welcoming. The grounds are lovely and it was within a 20min walk to the town. Rooms were large and inviting.
No air conditioning in the rooms and it was extremely hot, we had a small fan in the room that struggled with the conditions. There was a fridge in the room with a note saying 'delicious snacks inside but only contained small milk portions, no water. There were glasses and coffee/tea making facilities. Unfortunately our room was missed on cleaning and we had to raise with the duty manager but sorted pretty quickly. The shampoo and washing facilities seem watered down. Would be interested to see what the new owner has in mind. The food was lovely but the venue choices limited. None of these things put us off returning but when we would we hope to see some love put back into the venue. Some services are very hit and miss
Hotel was in a lovely location, very quiet surroundings The spa was excellent, a jewel for this hotel. Our room was lovely over looking the garden.had a big fan which was needed.also had a fridge which was ideal to keep our water cool, tea coffee were refilled daily. Bed was very big and comfy.we had a walk in shower which was a lovely size Full English breakfast, toast cereal and fruit, few mornings there were croissants We had a booked a cream tea which we enjoyed Taxi into Ludlow cost around £8/£10
Only thing we had to pay extra to use the spa which I thought may have been included in the price, so only used it one day
