Great view of medieval city. Our door to the patio would not close and lock unless you slammed it really really hard, and the safe battery was too low for the safe to work so we couldn’t open the safe after we locked it. The reception guy offered us his master key. We only stayed one night so we said it was fine the safe didn’t work. Weird thing was there was no room phone so we had to go down to reception to report the problem.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The bathroom came with a tub. Bathroom was spacious. The water pressure was amazing. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel has an amazing view of the citadel. We did not have a room with a view but many rooms have full view of the citadel. The only minor issue was the room was a little too tight with not much room for our luggage. We recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel in a great location close to the Citie and the new town. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room had a great view of the Citie.
My husband and I visited Carcassonne for a couple of days and we chose this hotel with half board. The location is excellent, very clean and convenient. The half board consisted of a decent breakfast and buffet dinner. The room was a bit small but otherwise this was an excellent deal. I highly recommend it to those who don’t want to spend to much while maintaining decent standards.
Spent one night at the hotel to meet up with friends. The hotel is easy to find and we were warmly welcomed. Arrived early so left our luggage in a secure room before going out to explore. Parking is an easy 5 minute walk away The room was very clean and well stocked with shower gel, soap, coffee and tea (no milk) etc. Amazing view of the castle from our balcony. Breakfast was plentiful and filling.
The good:The hotel is in a central location near to the chateaux, within walking distance of restaurants and most of the sites in Carcassonne. It was clean and modern with a nice looking, but pricey restaurant on site. The bad: The big negative for me was the shower/tub combination. The tub which is about 18 - 24 inches high is downright dangerous when you combine that with the slippery tile on the tub floor. This is a no/no for seniors and people with mobility issues. In addition, the narrow tub has a glass enclosure on one side which allows water to leak onto the bathroom floor. Lastly, in our room there was one facial tissue in box of tissues in a room that we had just gotten the keys to.
Great place to stay, the views for the rooms with low numbers (we were in 203) have stunning view of the castle
my favorite hotel in Carcassonne , location is superb, no view of La Cite was a wee bit disappointing as it was my birthday 😅…maybe next time 😊
Location is excellent.
I liked: The location, just before the bridge to the Forteresse, and with a nice overall view of the Forteresse from my balcony. A large very nice room. The balcony with nice vegetation. A really full buffet breakfast (North American style but with great croissants, etc) Staff that were nice and helpfull. I walked everywhere, from and to train station, to restaurants, to the Forteresse.
The room was poor it was not as advertised no bedside table as there wasn’t enough room, no table, we obviously paid for a room which was larger but were given something not much more than a cupboard. Also upon returning to the courtyard to enjoy an evening drink we were ignored by the staff for over 40 minutes, and I had to go to reception to ask where I obtain drinks. We eventually received two drinks although not what we wanted ( no cognac available) the young man who served us was quite hostile in attitude, having finished our drinks, we waited a further 45 minutes, waiting to be served a further drink only to give up in the end when we were obviously not going to be served. In fairness to the evening supervisor when I complained she did offer a complimentary drink but as I said it was to late then.
Half of mile from the train station. Not many dining options.
The location of this property was perfect for our short stay to explore La Cite. Outstanding view from our balcony up toward the medieval city. We arrived in Carcassonne by train and it was only a short 15 minute walk away to the hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient. Whilst the breakfast options were good I did find on all 3 mornings that the mushrooms and scrambled eggs were cold. But that is my only gripe. Would recommend.
Modern hotel with incredible views of the citadel. Great breakfast and short walk to the old city. Parking offsite closeby and reasonable.
Property was in a great location, easy walk to Cite, easy walk to restaurants ,& shops. I thought the reception area was understaffed, especially as there is a bar area beside it , & only I staff member doing both jobs. Johan did a great job under pressure.
Beautiful view of the city from our room. Easy walking distance to the city
Hotel was recommended to us by a wine merchant in Saint Emilion. She raved about the views and it did not disappoint!! Rooms were beautiful and the terrace rooms are worth the money!
Great location, friendly staff, nice room.
Definitely stay there again.
We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat.
Really good location, right next to the old bridge. Halfway to the castle and to the city. Although the room was tight, the bed was very comfortable.
Superb location for old and more modern city with everything only a short walk away. Fantastic views of the old city.
Quiet, clean, comfortable
We stayed one night. great location , the staff was very helpful . Some issues in the room have been resolved by the front desk. Travellers from Vancouver, Canada
Spacious rooms with generous balconies. Bathrooms also a good size, but badly designed with space wasted. Good location with balcony views of the citadel.
Staff very helpful, food excellent a lovely hotel
Great location to see the castle
Wonderful stay as always in my favorite Carcassonne hotel 😅
Room was tired and scuffed especially the bathroom and loo. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee undrinkable, bacon so tough it was impossible to swallow. When I asked for GF bread I was directed to baguette! Then they offered frozen pain de mie. Not good enough quality for the price. View from room was great.
Lovely hotel & staff near the centre
Great views of the castle.
The hotel was comfortable, clean and in a good location.
Great stay
We were upgraded to a room with a terrace with a stunning view of the medieval cite. We loved the bathrobes, the cleanliness, and the comfy bed.
Wonderful hotel with amazing views of Cite de Carcassonne. Definitely worth paying for the Cite view room. Excellent breakfast. Super comfortable room with separate WC. Must stay here.
Staff was very friendly, location to parking lot and castle were excellent. Breakfast buffet was excellent!
This hotel has the most remarkable view over the walled city. Choose a room with a city view - it's worth the additional cost. When the city and bridge are lit up at night, it's magical. The room was clean and comfortable, room size is typical for France with the tiniest mini-fridge I've ever seen. Front desk was friendly and hotel has a good vibe. Easy walk to walled city, train station and the rest of town.
Staff is very nice and always helpful. Very good breakfast, quiet and beautiful location. Excellent!!
You come to Carcassonne for one reason...to see the wall city. We walked into our room at the Les Chevaliers, onto our terrace and there it was...laid out on the hilltop before our eyes! What else is there to say. The room was extremely comfortable as was our entire two day stay. We would definitely stay there again.
A very nice hotel with a helpful staff!
Lovely reception very kind receptionist who upgraded us to a room with a city view. This is our second stay and I m sure we ll stay again on our way to spain.
We had a couple issues initially with our room initially that took a fair bit of waiting around to sort. However, we were eventually given a different room and had a view of the city walls that was very nice. Without the view the stay would have been less special.
All was fine, thanks to staff of SOWELL.
They have to relocate us to another room because we saw that the toilet commode was not flushed from waste. It was so disgusting! The room that given to us has no telephone, very few electrical outlets. I’ve to disconnect a pole lamp to use the outlet. Dinner was very good but some of the staff doesn’t speak or understand English. Front desk staff were okay.
Some issue with booking. Not sure if it was Expedia’s fault or hotel but hotel sorted it out and gave a free bottle of wine for inconvenience. Staff helpful and great English.
Easy to get to all attachments
The property is situated within walking distance of the citadel with nice views of the river and the citadel. The staff were polite and friendly. They do not have onsite parking. The only option is an underground car park 5 minutes walk from the hotel Nice place to stay for sightseeing
The hotel is lovely, the grounds are well kept and the room and public areas are clean and welcoming and the receptionist is gorgeous ❤️
This hotel had friendly staff that kindly upgraded our room so my husband and I didn’t have to sleep in twin beds. We ended up with the most spectacular balcony view of the castle and historic bridge, which made for fantastic sunsets. The bed and pillows were by far the most comfortable we’ve had in Europe to date (no sheet rock here). A great stay.
We really enjoyed our stay. This hotel had very friendly and efficient staff, a lovely setting, especially the outdoor area for dining with a lovely view towards the Cite. It also had excellent AC, a big benefit when it’s 35 or so degrees.
Fantastic hotel in a great position. Room had a balcony and brilliant views.of the castle. Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough particularly Momo.
Beautiful view of the castle
Room had a great view of the river and castle. Air con was very good and bathroom and shower also good.
Little disappointed in the view from the room. We upgraded and it wasn't cheap yet the direct view was of a wall of the next hotel. We had to go out onto the balcony and stand at an angle to get the view of the castle. Very nice breakfast at the hotel with plenty to choose from The 4* hotel could not offer drinks but suggested we go to their sister hotel next door and we were stung with a bill of Eu26 for a bottle of beer and an Aperol spritz. Friendly staff at the hotel but with the services offered it's very much more a 3* hotel.
The whole experience was amazing. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are extremely well finished and modern! And the views of the castle are spectacular! Also take the opportunity to have dinner at the restaurant sitting outside- great food and views
Excellent location overlooking a La Cite - great running trail by the river, great dining options all around and the staff was amazing.
Staff here are very lovely. The location is just perfect with the most amazing view.
Fantastic short stay with stunning views of the castle.
The hotel has an ideal location for exploring the old and new parts of Carcassonne. Staff were always helpful and the breakfast buffet was good (especially eating outside). Panoramic room has an awesome view across the river and was quiet although didn’t come with a balcony (as indicated in the online photos).
The staff was absolutely amazing at every level.
Good hotel and facilities with great view of the old town
They gave us a nice upgrade and were all so kind
Great location close to the old city . Staff were friendly and helpful. Our bed was comfortable. Our room was clean.
The comfiest bed and pillows I’ve slept in for years. Now hunting for the pillows for home
The manager was super nice. We had to stay an extra evening due to car trouble and he took care of us right away.
Superb location, clean and comfortable. Would recommend.
The front desk upgraded us to one of their best rooms, but when we entered the room it had not been cleaned. Very unfortunate, but we were still given a room with a great view of the old city!
Laundromat is close by (for those extended stays like mine). Walk to Castle and nearby restaurants. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts not so good, but that’s all there is,($15 E for cereal) parking is a longer walk, so unload and load at hotel then walk back. Good layover spot.
On the whole it was okay as we were only booked one night. Great views of the castle from the resturant (a tad pricey) over the course of the evening. Food was well presented and tasty but you would think it's hard to get steak and chips wrong. The room was fine apart from an interesting carpet selection, an out of place toilet door handle with no locking mechanism and a hand held shower head that fired off water in all directions. Bedding was clean but the mattress was way to soft for whats considered normal to us... the pillow ended up encompassing my ears which was both good and bad. Didn't hear a thing all night but woke up with a sore neck. Staff service was nice, polite and friendly although Im still awaiting my invoice for the stay, nearly a week later... parking was nerve racking... nothing available onsite (never saw a designated hotel carkpark) so went to a public carpark within close proximity. Well lit and secure (presumabley) as our car still full of gear, was fine overnight. It's locked at 20.00pm and cost €7 overnight which was fine for me. However a really narrow decending entrance to the garage and even narrower 90° turn at the bottom. We have BMW520 so not a small car, and it was touch and go not messing up my wheel rims on the raised curb stones. Just made it, but a wider car has issues as evidenced by black rubber colouring said curb stones. Bit dodgy at night in the park adjacent to the hotel with young adolescents milling about but had no issues. No pool
Check in at 4pm is too late and causes queus at the check in desk. This is the first hotel ever with a check in this late and if you reuire a 2pm check in then its another 40 euro! Room had a famtastic view on the castle and Breakfast was good.
its about getting use to the expectation of each country rating. For 4 Star hotel, im expecting car parking, a small fridge or a kettle in the room but do not have it in there. The location is good with nice view in the restuarants. the food is good. Overall still not too bad. the service is great too.
The hotel was very clean and pretty easy to find. We parked in the public parking lot about a 5-10 minute walk away. The lot was inexpensive, accessible and safe. Our room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was terrific and we enjoyed the balcony with the view of the castle. Many places are within easy walking distance of this hotel. I only wish the outside terrace for food and drinks had been open. As a bonus, the front desk personnel spoke excellent English.
Welcoming, efficient staff. Beautiful rooms with amazing views of La Cité.
Very pleasant stay, near the castle. The room was very hot when i arrived, and even after the front desk turned the temperature down to 18, it was still a little warm. But the bed was comfy, and the shower worked, so all fine
Location is great; just besides the river bank, you can walk downtowns and the river port or you can cross the stone bridge and get to the Citadel. The rooms are way too generic and don't have any ambiance to them. It feels just a little cheap: considering you are just besides a great medieval city fortress.
Lovely staff, clean and attractive hotel well located in Carcassonne. They arranged for us to have breakfast even though we’d missed the cut-off time. Service was conscientious and polite.
We couldn’t eat in the restaurant after 20hr30 and after working in the 5 star hotel industry for 15 years this is unacceptable for a hotel
Close to the medieval village.
good location between old and new towns, relaxed and informal.
location is midway between the train station (12 min walk) and the medieval Cite, medium size room, comfortable beds, good size bathroom, high bathtub to enter shower making it at least risky to go in and out, plastic glasses in the room/bathroom in a 4* hotel?, no fridge or minibar, multiple int'l TV channels, very good breakfast buffet, good quality foods, abundant choices of hot and cold foods, good coffee, bakery, yogurts, fruits. very limited staff at the Front Desk, forcing guests to wait in line at different times during the day (had not seen this in any 4* hotel) Overall a good hotel with an excellent breakfast
Lovely large room, great location and helpful staff
It was very convenient that it was close to the medieval city
The breakfast was great and the view of La Cite out the window was amazing.
Comfortable hotel in a good situation. Quite good if totally self-service breakfast buffet but mediocre machine-delivered coffee. The good comfort of the room was let down by provision of cheap plastic disposable ‘glasses’ in the bathroom - each individually wrapped in plastic - very environmentally unfriendly and not nice to use. Paper coffee beakers in the room also not nice to use. Staff very helpful when approached.
The view is spectacular. Needs more staff. There was a long line at check in because there was only one person working at the front desk. There was no one at the bar so we couldn’t have a drink while we waited. There was nobody around to serve us a glass of wine when we were on the terrace admiring the view. We had to walk back to the bar in reception to get it and then there were no snacks available.
Great location and balcony was fabulous. It’s clean rooms are not big but ok. Problem is that there are inadequate staff. Long opens at receiption all the time as only one person working. No one manning the bar. Lovely staff when you could find them.
What a beautiful spot in Carcassonne! A fantastic view, peaceful and an easy walk to the walled city. We highly recommend this spot!
All good Smallish room but clean and efficient Great location easy walk to the old city
This hotel is perfectly position to visit both the town and the medieval city of Carcassonne. A big variety of excellent food is served at breakfast. Patio overlooks the old stone bridge and the cite’.
This is an excellent hotel. It’s stylish, contemporary, well run and with a magnificent view of the medieval castle. Breakfast was surprisingly good - a far wider range than is usual in French hotels with a good range of cooked options too. There’s a large outside patio. Highly recommended.
Person at reception said 4 Star means you handle your own luggage. Asked for WiFi login & pw and told it is your name and your surname. Tried after dinner and no combo worked. No one at reception at that time of day. Next morning a different person at re emotion showed how to login and it included email address. Safe was already locked in the room. No hair dryer in the room. Not enough space to open a suitcase. The terrace was spacious with a great view.
Super location, set next to the river, looking across at the Cite, but within walking distance of restaurants, shops etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was great, with marvelous views. The only limitations were the shower (not great) and the fact that we couldn't get a dinner reservation even though we were guests of the hotel.
Excellent location near Vieux Pont with superb view from balcony terrace. Free parking very nearby on the Quai. Easy access to Cité and Bastides areas on foot. Configuration of room is very crowded and awkward for two people ... but wonderful terrace more than compensates.
Great property with balconies and a great view. My only issue was the hotel bar closes too early!
Modern hotel with some rooms having excellent views of the Carcassonne walled city. Public areas are pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful and good variety and quality. Our room was big enough but not much storage. Also the only day-light came from the balcony door so even in good sunlight the room had dark corners and was gloomy. The door handle came off, toilet paper was very thin and was a disappointment for the 4 star hotel.
Comfy bed and nice patio. Long way from elevator. No fridge, hot water brewer, no, wash cloths, no English programs, movies etc. Very clean and great locstion.
centrally located, close to the main attraction - the castle. the conditions of the hotel is excellent, very clean, posh interior. the restaurant serves good food.
A lovely hotel - very close to the Cite castle with a nice view of it lit up at night. But the room size was extremely small for a 4 star hotel. And there were no openings for the complimentary massage - which was upsetting. Also, the bathroom floor flooded each time we used the shower which should have been fixed beforehand. A real mess.
Great hotel approximately a 10 minute walk from la cite and a couple of minutes from the bastion so in a great location. Rooms are brand new, modern and clean with the added bonus of a balcony and a fabulous view (one of the best views I’ve ever had at a hotel). Good service, great breakfast with a terrace with the same fabulous view. Parking is €7 and just across the road. Hotel felt good value for money in the area. I would return for the view alone!
Great location on the Left Bank near the Seine and all local transportation. Staff is highly accommodating, including arranging transportation to/from train station or airport, relieving stress of taking taxis. Great if you like a more boutique hotel in a 17th century building with period furnishings. For creature comforts, such as extra-large rooms and elevators, it may not your style
