I really Loved the breakfast and dinner and the service. The staff was very nice and helpful. The place was lovely and we had a great view from our room. Some private onsens could be a bit more cozy, but the shared ones were nice. We love the experience in the ryokan

Obwohl das Hotel direkt an der vielbefahrenen Straße liegt, taucht man in eine ruhige, vergangene Welt ein sobald man eintritt und.sich die Türe hinter einem schliesst. Wir wurden bestens betreut, das Personal ist insgesamt sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die 5 unterschiedlichen Onsen laden ein alle ausprobiert zu werden. Und das klassische abendliche Kaiseki-Menü ist hervorragend!

Tout etait parfait. Mais nous avons pris l option petit dejeuner, qui etait top, mais tellement typique que ce fut dur pour mes adolescents d arriver a manger ce petit dejeuner.

It is a great experience staying in a historic, traditional Japanese inn (ryokan). The bath was interesting, the room was incredible big and overlooking the river, the roll-down futons where fun. The shared bathrooms weren't that much of a problem in the end. The dinner and service experience is absolutely amazing. We also went to the Hakone Yuryo traditional Japanese public bath. It is walking distance from this inn and we preferred the bath there. We booked this Ryokan last minute and it was the most expensive night of our japan trip. We are glad we did it for the experience.

Que dire… peut être la plus belle expérience que nous ayons vécue au Japon. L’endroit est magique. Nous avons vu que certaines personnes trouvait le ryokan vieillissant, nous nous avons trouvé au contraire que cela faisait tout son charme. Le personnel est aux petits soins, il a été adorable tout le long du séjour, et nous nous sommes sentis très à l’aise avec nos jeunes enfants.

Après avoir lu certains avis avant mon séjour, j’étais un peu inquiet en voyant des commentaires mentionnant des problèmes d’odeur ou un manque de confort de la literie. Après avoir passé une nuit sur place, je ne partage absolument pas ces critiques. Je n’ai constaté aucune odeur désagréable, ni dans ma chambre, ni dans la literie, ni dans les espaces communs. Quant au futon, je l’ai trouvé très confortable et j’ai très bien dormi. Il est important de garder à l’esprit qu’il s’agit d’une auberge japonaise traditionnelle, l’expérience est différente d’un hôtel occidental, mais c’est précisément ce qui fait son charme et sa valeur. J’ai beaucoup apprécié l’accueil chaleureux et l’attention du personnel, qui a été aux petits soins tout au long de mon séjour. L’établissement permet de découvrir l’atmosphère d’une auberge japonaise traditionnelle, avec ses magnifiques bâtiments en bois et ses planchers qui craquent, ce qui ajoute beaucoup de charme à l’expérience. J’ai également apprécié la qualité du repas servi sur place, ainsi que le fait que les voyageurs seuls soient les bienvenus, ce qui n’est pas toujours le cas dans les ryokan. Le service de bagagerie est très pratique, et le personnel a pris le temps de m’expliquer les règles de savoir-vivre japonaises, ce qui m’a permis de profiter pleinement de mon séjour. J’ai aussi beaucoup apprécié les bains privatifs, accessibles sur réservation à toute heure. Il était très facile d’obtenir un créneau et je n’ai jamais eu l’impression que l’établissement était surchargé. Enfin, le personnel parle un excellent anglais, ce qui a grandement facilité les échanges et contribué à rendre le séjour encore plus agréable. La vue sur la rivière a été l’un des points forts de mon séjour. S’endormir et se réveiller au son de l’eau qui coule a rendu l’expérience encore plus dépaysante et apaisante.

Je n’ai pas rencontré de problème durant mon séjour. Si je devais mentionner un point d’amélioration, certains bains pourraient bénéficier d’un rafraîchissement ou d’un nettoyage plus fréquent, car j’ai remarqué quelques traces de moisissure dans certaines zones. Cela dit, je comprends tout à fait la difficulté de maintenir des installations thermales constamment exposées à l’humidité et la chaleur dans un état absolument impeccable. C’est d’ailleurs quelque chose que j’ai observé dans de nombreux Onsen, et cela n’a pas diminué mon appréciation générale de l’expérience. Un autre point à noter est que la chambre n’était pas totalement sombre la nuit. La lumière du couloir restait légèrement visible à travers les portes et cloisons traditionnelles en papier. Les personnes très sensibles à la lumière pourraient donc préférer prévoir un masque de sommeil. Cela dit, ce détail ne m’a pas vraiment dérangé. Entre les bains, l’atmosphère reposante du ryokan et les randonnées de la journée, j’ai très bien dormi malgré tout.

El personal! Extremadamente amables. Marcaban la diferencia. La comida de primer nivel, todo muy tradicional. Disfruté mucho el onsen, los baños de agua caliente. La verdad me relaje mucho allí.

The food was incredible, it is a true ryokan experience, one of the best available I believe. Our host Mami-san was truly above and beyond and we felt like every thing we could need was taken care of. The building and history is particularly special, the koi pond, garden and river were so peaceful.

The women's washroom could have been a bit cleaner and there is a smoking area which permeates through the building, but not into our room.

The staff was exceptionally welcoming and attentive. The detail and care given to the meals and presentation was so special. The room was very large and beautiful, as was the building itself. It is a short walk to Hakone Yumoto station. Very clean.

An absolutely unforgettable experience — easily one of the most special places I have ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived, everything felt magical. The room was beyond beautiful: peaceful, warm, incredibly cozy, and full of traditional character that made the entire stay feel authentic and unique. Every small detail felt thoughtful, and the atmosphere was so relaxing that I genuinely did not want to leave. The entire experience was extraordinary from beginning to end. The dinner and breakfast were both absolutely incredible — not only delicious, but beautifully prepared and truly memorable. Wearing the traditional yukata/kimono made the stay feel even more immersive and special, and the onsen experience was pure heaven. It was peaceful, calming, and something I will remember forever. What truly made this place exceptional, though, was the staff. Every single person was so kind, welcoming, attentive, and genuine. They made me feel completely comfortable and cared for throughout my stay, and their hospitality was honestly some of the best I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. This place is not just a hotel — it is an experience and a memory that will stay with me forever. I feel incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to stay here, and it became one of the highlights of my entire trip to Japan. When I return to Japan one day, there is absolutely no question that I will come back here again. Thank you so much for such a perfect and unforgettable stay.

The shared bathroom but that was clearly shown at time of booking so it was not a surprise, just that it's a new experience for me that I am not used to.

Staff is very kind and helpful. It’s convenient to be able to reserve a private onsen. We were able to relax.

I appreciate this place is traditional but it’s really outdated and requires renovation. Everything is old, not that clean and - looking at plugs - probably also a bit dangerous. I don’t understand all the 10/10 reviews. It was way too expensive for what we actually got for the price. Including food.

Nous avons vécu un séjour unique dans ce ryokan installé dans un bâtiment tout à fait exceptionnel. L'accueil est tout simplement exceptionnel dès que l'on ouvre la porte d'entrée. Nous avons profité de diners et petit-déjeuners copieux variés et délicieux dans la chambre, présentés dans le détail par notre serveuse. Les sanitaires sont en dehors de la chambre mais on oublie vite ce détail. Il est facile aussi de réserver les onsens privés. Station de bus et gares ne sont pas loin pour partir visiter la région.

Sens dubte, va ser una de les millors experiències de tot el nostre viatge al Japó. El ryokan és tradicional, amb una atenció fantàstica. Si us hi allotgeu no dubteu ni un moment a agafar el sopar kaiseki i l'esmorzar també. Serà un dels millors moments, de debò! A part, l'experiència de l'onsen, tant compartit com en parella (es poden reservar onsens privats a l'arribada) val molt la pena. Gràcies per tot!

Cal tenir en compte que és un Ryokan tradicional una mica antic. No us espereu instal·lacions molt noves. És part de l'encant!!!

Classic ryokan style stay with river view on the balcony. Beautiful property that makes it feel like you’ve been transported back in time. Multiple private hot springs available for reservation and two public hot springs. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and they make you feel like a VIP. Close to the Tonosawa train station and bus stop making it a good base for exploration of Hakone. It’s one of the best places I’ve stayed at in Japan.

Nothing, I love this place. My fiance didn’t some of the Japanese style dinner/breakfast because it’s mainly seafood based. They don’t have western style dinner but they do have the option for western breakfast.

Upon arrival after a long journey, the owner said ‘passport’ without a proper greeting. The building, although beautiful, is very poorly maintained. It is riddled with mold and dirt everywhere. The shared bathroom is worst than any public restroom I have ever used in Japan. Walls are dirty, paint peeling, ceiling leaking. This place doesn’t merit the rating it has and it is deceptive. I am shocked at the price point with how poorly it is up kept.

Un vrai expérience totalement dépaysante d'un ryokan traditionnel au japon : Onsen privé & public, futon, yukata, diner kaiseki et un petit déjeuner servi dans la chambre avec un personnel aux petits soins et très professionnel. J'avais adoré l'expérience il y a 10 ans, rien n'a changé :) toujours aussi exceptionnel

L'expérience peut être assez déstabilisante si l'on est habitué à un confort plus moderne (salle de bains communes, toilette en dehors des chambres et parfois éloignée de la chambre) mais pour l'expérience et se plonger dans une autre époque du Japon je ne changerai rien.

Lieu historique remarquablement préservé et parfaitement entretenu. Le personnel s’est montré particulièrement attentif à notre confort, et les repas servis en chambre étaient exceptionnels. Une immersion réussie dans le Japon de la période Edo.

la habitación es bonita, las vistas preciosas y el personal amable. Cuenta con onsen diferentes. El desayuno correcto, nos cobraron por pedir café en vez de té, aunque creo que es una forma de llamarle a la tasa que suelen cobrar a los turistas.

Sound of the river in the room was stunning, and the meals were great. Having the onsens on site was so convenient and made for a relaxing start/end to the day.

We loved being so close to the river, but unfortunately this does mean there were quite a few creepy crawlies in our room (from gaps in the screens). Accommodation shows its age but was mostly comfortable.

The view over the river was beautiful. The history of the building added atmosphere.

The staff were so nice and the food was exceptional. Our room was very relaxing and we had a great view of the river.

The futons were very firm so it was difficult to get comfortable and have a full relaxing sleep. The bathroom needed cleaning, especially under the sink. There were a number of things that could be improved with minor maintenance, such as paint touch ups, minor repairs.

Very authentic ryokan with friendly staff and good food. Located 15 mins on foot from Hakone-Yumoto station and about 8mins from Tonosawa station. Hot and authentic onsen.

Although we had been made aware of the shared bathroom situation, we ultimately found it more challenging than expected. There were few toilets available and at 6 feet tall I had to sit sideways on the toilet. Also, the mattresses were quite thin and although fresh sheets were put over them the mattresses themselves seems old and worn. We appreciate the building is old and that is a part of its charm but a few repairs / tidy ups would help merit the price.

Host amazing with my minimal japanese, but if you don’t understand she does try to google translate (sometimes comes out weird but context and gesturing helps a lot)

We had a great time. They served very delicious vegan Kaiseki dinner and breakfast on request. The building and Onsen bath have history and are really impressive. From our room we had a scenic view of the garden and river - the hotel layout was designed to offer a garden view from each room. The staff was very helpful and we can definitely recommend staying here.

Beside the authentic Japanese onset ryokan, the staffs were friendly and attention to details without asking. My family really enjoyed the stay and we sure will come back next time we travel to Hakone

I like everything but it was a bit cold for my daughter. Didn’t bother me as heaters everywhere. The kaiseki dinner is good but perhaps could include some updated versions of things.
