The chairs in the Labrador room are tired and the shaggy throws look dirty and not in keeping with the rest of the room. I wasn’t enamoured by breakfast at all.. not a very friendly front of house lady, made me feel a little unwelcome as was first in for breakfast. Had poached egged and avocado on “toast” not toasted at all, dry avocado and runny whites.. the restaurant applauds itself for its breakfast and this let them down.

We were over charged on our final bill, someone else's coffee's were added to our bill. But the manager arranged a refund when I phoned up about it.

Ein tolles, perfekt eingerichtetes Hotel mit 100% Wohlfühlfaktor. Hohe Qualität bei der Ausstattung, ein sehr gutes Bett, absolute Ruhe und perfekter Service. Dazu ein Restaurant mit super leckerer Küche , Empfehlung hier Coliflower Popcorn und tollem Frühstück.

From the moment we stepped into The Jack Russell, my husband and I were greeted by a friendly and extremely helpful young lady. Throughout our stay, all the staff continued to provide a warm welcome, engaging banter and helpful information. Dinner on Friday was exceptional (thank you, chefs), as were both breakfasts. We had an unforeseen issue on Saturday when our dinner plans fell through, but the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a table that evening, even though they were fully booked. Once again, the food was exceptional. The room was comfortable and equipped with everything we needed, and the fan was an absolute godsend! I suffer from hot flushes, and the adjustable fan made my nights much more comfortable and helped me sleep better. Thank you to everyone at The Jack Russell for making our stay so enjoyable. We would happily return and highly recommend it to others.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My partner and I stayed at The Jack Russell last night ahead of his track day nearby, and decided to make the most of it with a little break from normal life. It was exactly what we needed—calm, peaceful and relaxing, in the most beautiful setting. We honestly couldn’t fault the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was outstanding too—we had the burgers for dinner, and breakfast the following morning was equally delicious. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to use the fire pit at the Doghouse due to it having been misused by some previous guests. However, the manager immediately arranged a lovely alternative setup so we could still sit outside and enjoy our evening, which we really appreciated. Beautiful location, wonderful food and exceptional service. We couldn’t have asked for more and will definitely be returning!

The rooms are traditionally done but far too dark. Bed very firm and pillows super soft. Had a tick in bathroom shower. Dogs barking at 7am woke us up and kids in breakfast were feral 😬 was a shame as not staffs fault…. When we arrived it looked amazing and grounds are exceptional, sad it didn’t live up to expectations.

It was lovely, had a nice cosy bar. The food was delicious.

Inn is beautiful and customer service was excellent. Great place for dogs.

Room was too hot despite fan. We didn’t sleep well during our stay. Very expensive for what you get. English breakfast was good one of the days - the other was not (cold beans, salty scrambled eggs). We went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday but walking trails not great in fact dangerous - incoming traffic at times and scenery nothing impressive comparing with other parts of England.

The Jack Russell was a beautiful place in lovely surroundings. The room was well equipped for my husband who has slight disabilities. I would definitely return in the future

The bed was a little too hard for me.

Exceptional location, super comfy bed and linen, the attention to detail and quality of the interior design, the lengths staff went to to ensure a good stay, and the food (breakfast and dinner); all of the above made for a fantastically enjoyable and restful stay.

A little more thought into the in-room tea & coffee facilities; mugs as well as cups would be nice and a tray for dirty spoons - that sort of thing. Also, the little green light in the ceiling (alarm I guess) was really annoying in the middle of the night,

The Jack Russell is an absolute find. It is situated in an idilic location that is easy to find and not far from the A34 and Highclere Castle which we were visiting. The pub has a charming comfortable feel. The room was very spacious and beautifully designed and decorated and provided all we needed and more. The bathroom was again spacious and had a lovely luxury feel to it. We had an evening meal which was superb as was breakfast the following morning. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend the Jack Russell highly enough.

Lovely quiet location close to the places we wanted to visit.

Rooms were lovely although the top bedrooms/bathrooms in the Dog House are smaller and despite there being 2 fans it was a very hot evening but that was the weather being so hot.

The room was very well equipped, lots of plug sockets & lovely toiletries. Great coffee machine & fresh milk provided to take up to the room at check in. The beds are super comfy. A good quality fan in our room to cool down as it was particularly hot weather. Lots of parking too which is great. And all the staff were so friendly & helpful, and even did a special birthday dessert for my mum as a treat.

The shower was super powerful, which was a good thing, but, the bathroom unfortunately flooded the first time we used it as there's no door on it. We used a towel to block the flow to the floor next time so it wasn't a problem again.

Loved everything about the property and will 190% be staying again!!!

Das Restaurant im Haus ist hervorragend. Kamen um 21 h an und haben noch freie Wahl beim Essen gehabt. Auf das Frühstück haben wir verzichtet, auch wenn es verlockend klang.

Sehr ruhig ( idyllisch) gelegen. Personal war sehr freundlich und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Zimmer waren sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Essen im Restaurant war stets frisch zubereitet und lecker.

Es gibt keine negativen Punkte.

Room didn't have a fridge and there was no milk option offered. I always bring my own oat milk & had to throw it away because I couldn't keep it chilled. It's the middle of another insane heatwave and there was no way of having a cold drink unless we paid the pub prices... which were rather high! Room also looked out over the cesspit hatch, this could have been better disguised.

The Jack Russell is a lovely hotel and pub in a beautiful setting. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. The food was all lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back.

Gorgeous setting, rooms were so lovely and the outside space is beautiful. There is also a car park which is handy for those driving! The pub is very homely and comforting. We had dinner at the pub and whilst it is definitely on the spennier side, the food was incredible! We would honestly come back for the food alone!

Brilliant stay lovely room with everything you could need brilliant walk in shower ,great breakfast with all local produce friendly and helpful staff would go again we arrived on Thursday to find singer in the garden brilliant

Unbelievable night away and experience. Room was absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean and well maintained! Staff are unbelievably attentive, kind and friendly! All staff were so lovely and the manager, Sarah was top notch!! The food for dinner was incredibly delicious and well presented with a smaller menu, offering highend quality ingredients. Breakfast had a buffet style offering toast and jams etc along with juices and granola and cereals as well as warm pastries and then a lovely ‘cooked to order’ menu. Everything was spotless as all the staff were always on top of everything! Even drinking glasses and dinnerware were remarkably clean! Literally cannot wait to come back and spend another night! Thank you to everyone there as you’re all incredible!!!

The location is wonderful and the refurbishment of the inn has been very well done. Our meals were delicious and very competently served. Sara particularly was very welcoming and looked after us very well.

We went with our dog and were expecting our room to reflect this but it was pure luxury and he was welcome everywhere although from preference we did not take him in the restaurant. Staff really friendy and hepful and setting amazing so quiet and away from it all. Will be going back.

This booking was made as stopover en route to Southampton to join a cruise, with the aim being primarily to ensure there was a reduced chance of running into problems \ delays in attempting to complete our overall journey of c 240 miles in one go. The location and general surroundings could not have been better for enjoying a short resting stay and this ambience was reflected throughout the whole establishment and facilities No quibbles at all with the food offerings for both dinner and breakfast which were imaginatively prepared and presented. Every member of staff we dealt with was polite, professional and welcoming.....on departing we booked a further, similar one night stopover for D, B & B later this year when we shall again be travelling to Southampton.

Nothing to dislike, the team have worked hard on ensuring all the basics of good hospitality management have been embraced - not least in developing an enviable culture combining high levels of professionalism with warmth.

Warm welcome, friendly and professional staff. Excellent light lunch in the bar. Well kept beer, great wine selection. Spacious room, big comfy bed, fluffy towels, powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Dinner and breakfast were delicious served in the pretty restaurant. Varied choices and great value.

Fibromyalgia and pelvic neuralgia means I need a soft bed. Had I have mentioned it before the staff would have ordered me in a soft option. As it was the beds are firm. Spotlessly clean however. Sarah said to let them know next time and they will be ready.

The room was spacious and kept a good temperature with a dyson fan.The shower in the bathroom was electric so one push of a button and it worked no having to mess around trying to get temp and pressure right.Fresh milk was provided in a metal flask.Bed was comfy and room very quiet even though Sunday night.Lovely view of duckpond from window.Great walks in the locality.Restaurant food was very good.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Jack Russell. I would highly recommend, especially for dog lovers. Beautiful cosy room with nice touches, the food was lovely and the staff couldn’t do enough. There was an outdoor seating area close to our room with a log fire which was an added bonus.

Nothing negative to say apart from you need a car to get there. It’s a little out of the way but the surroundings are just beautiful.

The property was overpriced. No air conditioning.. the room was uncomfortably hot. We were disappointed the Breakfast. The bacon was tough and had been under a hot plate, and generally there wasn’t enough. The staff were professional but not friendly.

Prachtig, nieuw ingerichte ouderwetse herberg op schitterende, vrije locatie in het bos. Een mooie vijverpartij voor de deur, schitterende grote bomen eromheen en een groot terras maakten van ons diner een buitenfeestje. Maar ook binnen is alles smaakvol en verzorgd ingericht; rustig maar toch kleurrijk. Het diner was het beste maal van onze week UK, helemaal top!

Location is fantastic; a charming example of working but tranquil English countryside we must preserve, perfect if you’re with your dog(s) and looking for some escape. All staff very nice, particularly Sarah who looked after us so well throughout.

We stood by the bar with a big bag upon arrival and no one welcome us. It was a poor welcome experience. The roast chicken was nice but the vegetables were not great.

Had a wonderful stay at The Jack Russell Inn. We stayed in The Labrador room and it was spotless clean and bed comfy. Bathroom was lovely too with a freestanding bath. Surroundings beautiful and peaceful. Had a delicious dinner and sat by the fire pit in the before bed. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Will definitely be returning!

There was a green sensor light that didn't go off above the bed which was a little annoying but only a minor inconvenience.

Incredible location, the pub is in a village on an estate and is just stunning. The pub itself is gorgeous, a mix of high-end club and local boozer (with a brilliant restaurant attached). It is so welcoming and quintessentially British, whilst also being elegant. The food in the pub from breakfast to dinner was delicious. Staff fun, warm, and felt like we had known them for ages! And the ROOM. Oh, the room. Was like being in a 5-star room in a top-end hotel. And a field full of sheep and kites ot wake up to. It was exceptional in every way, and we will be back.

Nothing could be better. It was not cheap, but worth every penny. And IMO superb value for money.

Store rummelige værelser, med stort og lækkert badeværelse med gode produkter. På værelset var der mulighed for at lave både god kaffe (kapsel) og god te, som vi kunne nyde med udsigt til en lille sø. Morgenmaden var ganske udemærket - Klassisk britisk morgenmad med mulighed for lidt wienerbrød, musli og brød. TV - Der var mulighed for mange kanaler, herunder Netflix. Personalet var under hele vores ophold venlige og imødekommende. Der er en lokal pub, hvor man kan nyde lokal øl og gin og møde de lokale inklusiv deres hunde - Super hyggeligt.

Lidt støj fra pubben om aften, men ikke noget som genrede os.
