The White Rock Hotel

Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was great value with 20% off , was lovely sitting out on terrace, overlooking the sea and pier. The staff were great, very friendly.

When arriving, the car park was at the back and when entering had to come down two flights of stairs.

Really need to get a good chef. Food was not well presented and although cooked could have been so much better. The only bad point about the hotel. Having said that the sandwich and snacks where very good.

Superb location by the beach and within ten minutes of the train station and old town, very clean rooms, amazingly friendly staff. Managed to get an upgrade to a bigger room too. Breakfast (discounted at 20% for hotel guests) was also delicious

The room we stayed in was spacious and had everything we needed. The rooms and hotel itself was clean and tidy. The location is perfect walking distance to the new town and old town. The bar and restaurant was an added bonus and the food was lovely. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely English cooked breakfast. All staff are so helpful and friendly and welcoming. Hotel is in a brilliant location. Room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. Having a bar at the hotel is brilliant. Having a sea view is so good.

COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

1. Perfect location, beach right across the road. 2. Every member of staff we met were friendly & helpfully. 3. Room was clean, bath/ shower good, plenty of hot water. 4. Breakfast.. we paid for breakfasts, which was superb value. A great selection, plus 20%off for staying guests. We paid £13.00 for two small(but plenty!)cooked breakfasts including a hot drink... 5.Small car park at the back... we were lucky enough to get a space.

Only a couple of things... the mattress dipped one side so to felt you were going to roll out if bed!.. we had to put towels under the bed to make level.. Athough there was a small wardrobe there was no draw space... the room wasn't huge, but could hv had two bed side cabinets with drawers instead of tables... We came in boiling hot weather.. there was a fan, but the duvet was 10.5.. so a winter duvet!. We removed&slept under the cover but the room was very cluttered with storing this & as nowhere to put clothes. However, overall very good value for money, &we had a great break.

Freundlich gestaltetes Hotel direkt am Pier. Tolle Aussicht auf das Meer vom Zimmer oder auch der Restaurantterasse. Wunderbar gelegen um Strand, Altstadt zu genießen oder um zu Wandern.

Der Verkehr von der anliegenden Straße kann schon laut sein.

The soundproofing in the room wasn’t very good.

Staff were courteous, friendly and efficient, especially Maddie on the front desk. Room was very clean. Breakfast was good and served until 11am, and the cafe/bar was open all day. Just across the road from the beach.

Although the sea view room was great, the traffic outside, whilst not continuous, was noisy throughout the night. We were changed to a rear room for our second night which was much quieter. (The change was made cheerfully and without fuss.)

The hotel was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable during our stay in the hot weather with myself being heavily pregnant. The facilities were all great and location perfect. The price of the food and drinks are great and breakfast is delicious!

The service and breakfast was good.

The shower unit did not work. I reported it the first night but it was not fixed. We could only get red hot water from it which we could not get under.

Extremely helpful and friendly staff who helped us a lot. Excellent location faing the beach, opposite the pier, next door to the theatre, and wlking distance to old town. Nice restaurant/bar/lounge/terrace for breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks. Clean and comfortable room.

Not great soundproofing- could hear traffic, people in bar downstairs, and dog barking in other room in middle of night.

We upgraded to have a bigger bed, seating area and tea/coffee facilities and biscuits which was very nice.

The room we were in was not as quiet as we expected it to be as we can hear people walking above our room, possibly a corridor that is above the room and when people shut their door, they slam it rather than shut it quietly and by slamming the door shut our room shakes. There should be a polite notice asking clients to shut the door quietly behind them. The bathroom should have a less brighter lighting because when we go to the bathroom in the night it's too bright. I see a lot of old people or those who are unable to use the steps that come into the hotel, and was wondering why there is no step free access! I looked it up online and apparently, if you ask a member of staff they can take you to a lift somewhere as an option. Shouldn't there be a NOTICE at the front to let them know this is available?

We had a sea front room with a lovely view of sea and pier. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean and in good order. The bathroom was large and had a lovely shower. If you had a late night the night porter was extremely reliable. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

It was excellent. With the warm summers a small fridge wouldn't go amiss, but I understand that would add to the cost of the room.

The location is wonderful overlooking the sea and pier, outweighs the noisy road in front but the traffic does get very light by bedtime and the windows shut out the noise. I am a very light sleeper and it didn't bother me. Hardly noticed any noise from other rooms either adjacent or above, surprising for an older building. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. they take you to your room as the hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren. They work together as a team. I have seen reviews complaining about the lift but it took 6 people without luggage. The food was good and fairly priced, as a guest you get a discount at breakfast. The fruit plate was excellent as was the full breakfast. The bar serves good beer including Harveys. Lots of areas inside and out to chill out. Loved the drink station in the room, a kettle and china cups so you can make a good cup of tea. Two bottles of water were provided daily. I was impressed that whatever things I had used were always replenished each day. Although the rest of the UK was sweltering it was much cooler in Hastings and with the patio doors open it was quite comfortable downstairs. My first floor sea facing bedroom did get warm during the day but cooled off in the evening. A fan is provided. They supply lovely beach towels and who can resist a dip with the sea across the road. There were also blankets not sure if for the beach or for chilly evenings on the patio. Bathroom was updated with a walk in shower.

The bed and pillows could have been better. The chairs in the room were so uncomfortable but nice that the room was big enough to take two chairs and a small table. Inefficient flushing toilet was frustrating, what's the use of it using less water when you have to flush it multiple times! Staff did look at it but it's a poor design.

All the staff are wonderful at the White rock hotel. They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We celebrated our wedding reception here. Everything from the food to the service was great. We can’t thank them enough for making our day stress free. We stayed 3 nights. The breakfast was delicious and the evening meal was so good. Thank you again to Madeline.

The room was very comfortable, with a great view, the breakfast was better than some hotels and the staff were very helpful with a laundry problem I had at the last minute and in general.

I don't understand why there can't be a small, cordoned off smoking area on the terrace. I, and other disgusting animals (smokers) I spoke to, will not use the bar if we can't have a smoke.

For a Premier room felt it was on the small side. No air conditioner as old hotel so very stuffy although we were provided with fan to aerate but not cool temp.

Lift nearest our room was very cramped. The food could have been better presented and was a little bland. The underside of the non slip mat for the shower was disappointing in that mould had accumulated. Otherwise all the glass etc was excellent.

The room was well equipped with everything you need. Excellent breakfast. The location right on the seafront was also convenient for walking into the town.

Being on the front the traffic was a bit noisy even though the widows were double glazed.

The breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of food. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help.

Very uncomfortable and extremely small elevator. The bathroom only has a rain shower, so if you don't want to wash your hair every time, it's difficult to shower comfortably. There were long black hairs on both the sink and the bathtub, which was unpleasant and raised concerns about cleanliness. The furniture was old and had a strong unpleasant smell.

The food and hospitality were good; everyone was friendly and paid attention to detail with customer needs. Breakfast was hearty and filling and questions were answered with honesty.

The room was very warm, and I couldn't tell whether the radiator was on or off. Providing a fan in the rooms, especially during summertime, would be great. There were no do-not-disturb signs in the room, which was a matter of concern, especially if I were using the bathroom.

Only minor things... Coffee machine wasn't working on the first night. Fire alarm went off before 7 am on Sunday morning because of a leaking radiator. Still, overall I felt really well looked after during my stay.

Great central location with parking. Very friendly and helpful staff offering excellent customer service. Room was a great size with modern decor and very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were replenished daily and additional requirements were available from reception. Shower was large and the bathroom spacious. The downstairs bar offers a good size seating area.

The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating was because the pillows were really uncomfortable - please replace them!! Otherwise the bedlinen and towels were of a very good quality. In order to save resources, we would also have been happy to use the towels provided for the two night stay rather than them being replaced daily.
