Close to town centre . Staff great and breakfast was good. Can't beat it for the price

Couple of touch ups needed but over very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Breakfasts were cooked well and nice. Free parking. A fair price.

Building/decorating items in dining room. bedroom carpet needs cleaning, a towel rail would be nice, easier access to staff would be better. Public area outside dirty and does not give a good impression.

The room was small and not at all like their photograph which shows a much larger room with a sofa, the curtains were rather small and did not cover the window properly, but I did not touch them, there were also blinds and they were clean and did cover the window. The room was clean as was the bathroom, the veneer on the bathroom door was flaking off, and the shower floor was badly marked with black stains. The towels were clean and white. There was toiletries provided so that was good. We were asked if we wanted a ground floor room when we arrived so maybe that is why the room was not as the photograph. The hotel seemed to be in the process of repainting and maybe redecorating. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, and a lovely 3 egg omelette and plenty of toast. There were breakfast drinks to choose from and you could take as much or as little as you wanted. The dining facilities were good but rather spoilt by the clutter of paints there as you walked in.

Better curtains to cover the window properly, the bathroom door should be re-veneered and the shower floor should be removed and another floor put in altogether. The clutter of pants should be removed from the dining room which rather spoilt the pleasant aspect of the room.

Within walking distance of the town, they is an ASDA express very close which is handy. You are not rushed to vacate your room on your departure day.no don't leave until 11 am which worked for me.

Design for the hotel is not visual from one direction of travel and the hotel location is easily missed. Fronts at the front of the hotel are subjecting traffic noise that May be an issue to done

Room very small. Rough area. Quite noisy. Didn't know how to poach an egg! Mainly a contractors' hotel.

The photos need updating as they have had a complete renovation. It looks absolutely amazing. Still a few things to do as i was told at check-in but it was clean and tidy. There is a petrol station 5 minutes away to get snacks. The staff were realky friendly.

The toilet seat didnt fit. Felt a bit dirty using it with the base touching my legs. The shaving point cover was rusty. Breakfast finished early (7-8.30am). That should be extended. The blinds need replacing and the windows need cleaning.

Room was comfortable & is currently under renovations so will be better in a few weeks, nice breakfast.

Area is a little run down, the property is undergoing renovations, building equipment & boxes left in the restaurant area which doesn't look well, however im sure it will look great in a couple of weeks.

Very clean room, great choice of breakfast options, close to Newport Town centre and only 5 minutes from the M4 junction. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great value for money.

This hotel is lovely and pictures on here don't do it justice as the rooms are lovely and recently decorated we also had a fan in our room which was a nice touch as it was very very warm weather. We also had a little fridge in the room which was also a nice addition excellent stay and breakfast was lovely

Gateway has been recently renovated and beautiful inside, not the same as pictures on website, they are are going to upgrade pictures once complete. The breakfast was lovely, the dinning area is so relaxing and comfortable to sit and enjoy breakfast. The bedroom had the essentials, and more had mini fridge and microwave. With still plenty of space in bedroom.

Where it is situation, near rail line and busy road. Very noisy however did leave window open as weather was very warm during our stay. Good point was fan in bedroom.

Refurbished to good standard, v v close to work & city centre. Nice little room with decent ensuite. I knew the location so wasnt expecting a view. Plenty of parking on site.

Entry was a little long winded, code to call thru to reception to open front door, they then answered or had note on door (back in 10 mins), there was no ley to gain access to building regardless of how many nights you stay but its summer so just sat on wall & waited. In winter it won't be so much fun waiting outside.

We were not aware that part of the hotel was being used to accommodate people on bail. We were woken up in the early hours by the sound of banging and shouting then a car smashing into another car in the car park the narrowly missing our car. The police were called which was when we discovered the hotel was used for people on bail. Not what we expected at all

Lovely clean room was perfect for our one night stay! We arrived an hour early for check in but they let us in straight to our room which was great after a long journey. Thanks very much!!

Parking was a issue. The key code was difficult to operate. The room was extremely small and very very hot. The Tv didn’t work until i fiddled with the electrics and the screen was misty.

I waited 45 minutes to get in to the building. There was a note on the front door saying back in 10 minutes. I was there with another couple who were also waiting.

Location wasn't great very dirty neighbourhood lot's of single males running in and out of buildings ,

Stained bedding , pillow was like a builders block , bathroom dirty , arrived mid day and had to stand around in the rain until someone arrived to open the building , we asked for rooms close to each other as disabled daughter but on different floors even though they said they could accommodate ,

It's a convenient location. I drove so the availability of parking was a big plus, especially as they were happy for me to leave the car there during the day I checked out We had a pleasant spacious room which was very clean.

Checking in was difficult. I arrived at about 1620 to find the front door locked and a notice saying check in was closed and giving the phone number so I rang and someone came after a few minutes to check me in. They then replaced the notice on the door with one that just said "Back in 10 minutes" and I came back later to find a party waiting outside. I gave them the phone number so they could check in. So I suggest you have a mobile phone with you, with their number in case you have this problem.

Location was not good lots of people hanging around the car park smoking. Children running around in grounds during the evening not staying at the hotel. Lady making breakfast was polite but breakfast was very dissapointing.

Tea and coffee facilities in room was not adequate and nobody around to ask to replemish

Good location to walk into Newport plus great base to visit the surrounding area. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Newport.

The room didn't have heating, intercom or a comfortable table.

The service and breakfast delivery was a Disaster. The management didn't know the difference between service delivery in South East Asia and modern day Wales. Staff was an old woman who clearly didn't understand what customers want. Breakfast took over 30 minutes to be ready and the menu was miserable.

Room not bad biscuits were a nice touch with the tea & coffee. We sat for breakfast and had to wait over half an hour to be told 5 mins. 3/4 of an hr later took our order. Then received tea & coffee & toast barely done. Felt embarrassed sat waiting without an offer of a drink.

The room is ok and good selections of little refreshment of teas and coffees including selections of biscuits! The staff here is kinda helpful!

The shower is ok but only issue is that the door wouldn't shut properly resulting some floods coming out!

The place is good value for money. It is easy to find. The place was clean. The breakfast was good.

The property is next to the railway tracks and you can feel the vibrations at night when trains are moving. The toilet seat need to be changed at top floor family room we occupied.

I think the pics on booking.com are old, actually the property has been renovated completely and has a very modern look to it, quite opposite to the pictures here.

The venition blinds need to be replaced as they were knackered. The room to be unfinished with wires cut and left tied up. Had to wait 15 mins to check in even though I had advised them I would be there at specific time.

Small single room had everthing I needed for a one night stay, close to town center and the Corn Exchange venue.

The room was lovely and clean.

The lady on reception who checked me in and the lady who served my breakfast were Extremely nice and polite. The breakfast was beautiful and my room (number 2) was quiet and comfortable. It also had a mini fridge and a microwave which was an added bonus. I was very happy with my stay.
