It’s a lovely countryside location

Everything was perfect

The room was beautifully decorated, clean and welcoming. The bathroom was stylish, big and clean. Plenty of clean towels. I couldn’t fault the room if I tried. The peacock pub side - gorgeous pub, fantastic tasty food and because the weather was nice we sat outside and took in the beautiful view. Staff were amazing. We will be visiting again in January.

The entrance is wonderful . The view , the modern look and the dragon sculpture . I had breakfast & evening dinner . All the food was lovely . Breakfast was outstanding . Delicious and so good that you can choose any combination of your choice . Wonderful view from the restaurant and patio . The hotel is located within easy reach of all Derbyshire attractions . Personally I give my golden star plus to the staff . They were all delightful . Friendly , helpful , knowledgeable & nothing is too much trouble .

I had fish pie from Sunday menu . Although tasty It was quite dry . Needed to be served with extra sauce .

What an excellent stay at The Peacock....what a Gem of a place in the Peak District. Fabulous room...with great attention to detail such as lovely bathroom products and room facilities and the shortbread wonderful touch!!! The staff were also truly exceptional both at dinner and breakfast....gutted we couldn't stay longer but we will definitely be back !!!

The Peacock at Barlow is a beautiful pub situated on the south-eastern border of the Peak District. The staff are exceptional, focusing intently on ensuring your stay is supremely comfortable and of the highest quality. We loved everything, from the exquisitely decorated and furnished bedroom and en suite bathroom to the atmosphere and dinner service. The breakfast was equally outstanding, featuring a rich variety of exceptional dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Being picky the poached eggs were a bit over cooked on my friend’s breakfast and there was a bit of noise in the bedroom overnight… a hymn and also a clicky/drippy noise but we were so tired it didn’t stop us sleeping.

The room was emaculately clean and very well decorated with a beautiful view of the countryside. There was everything you needed from body wash to cotton buds.

Slightly disappointed with the breakfast this time, portion size seemed smaller and asked the waitress for some additional toast which never arrived unfortunately, but lady on arrival was excellent when checking us in, overall excellent

A very comfortable, well-appointed room with modern fittings and en-suite. Staff were remarkably friendly, helpful and attentive. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on both evenings. The village and surroundings were very attractive.

We have stayed several times now and always enjoy the visit.

A great value hotel in a lovely location. Room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Good quality furnishings and nice extras: coffee machine, milk, water and freshly baked biscuits. The bathroom was huge- big, deep bath and the biggest shower head I have ever seen! Food was great- evening meal and breakfast both well cooked and staff were super. We loved our stay and will be returning.

Room as described but actually equivalent to a 4-5 star hotel. Lots of nice "thought about" touches. Complimentary fresh baked biscuits and bottles of water. Air con was an unexpected bonus. Staff really nice & welcoming, even offering to carry bags to room. Food was delicious and great breakfast the morning after. Despite being near the terrace & main road, it was very quiet.

Only minor "irritant" was lack of towel hook near shower - moved chair from other end of bathroom but then it made the shower awkward entry!

We had a lovely stay at The Peacock. Our room was fabulous, it had even had a bath with a view! They have thought a lot about the detail such as a fridge in the room with fresh milk instead of little uht sachets, chilled water, a coffee machine in the room, with coffee pods being topped up each day. The staff were all helpful. Breakfast was great, and we enjoyed some evening meals there too. The electric charger in the car park was a bonus.

Amazing cottage, great kitchen, comfortable beds. Staff were all friendly. Breakfast was fab too! Such a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Just a minor issue but stairs creaked a lot. So if someone uses the toilet downstairs in the middle of the night, everyone else can hear it.

Fantastic place to stay with amazing staff and food. Rarely have I stayed in accommodation where everyone was so friendly and helpful, making for a great nights stay.

Lovely cottage. Very comfortable beds. Needed a bit of help with the oven but they were really quick to sort it out.

Kitchen smelled a bit doggy and felt a bit pushed out of the pub quite early on. Would be nice to be able to enjoy a drink in the bar without people cleaning up and packing away around you at 10pm.

The price of a pint is ridiculous. £6.75 for a pint is just stupid and ruins a 5 star review. Why the hell does a pint have to cost this much, its nuts, charging a 5 quid for a pint is to much let alone £6.75, city price's in the country!! Im sick of visiting lovely pubs and constantly being overcharged for a pint. Apart from that is was fantastic. Imagine enjoying a reasonably priced pint in a lovely country pub, just like the good old days.

This is one of our absolute favourite places we've had the pleasure of staying for a very long time! From the moment we entered to the moment we checked out, the accommodation and service was truly exceptional. The hosts and waiting staff were so warm, welcoming and friendly. The accommodation itself was immaculate and the food was delicious. It was incredible value for money and we'd absolutely recommend. We would return in a heartbeat!

Quiet location with fantastic views. Room was light and airy with plenty of space and good storage options. Rooms were well designed, bathroom was amazing. Aircon as standard, under foot heating to bathroom . Perfectly fluffy towels, very clean - everywhere. Comfy beds. Staff were , without exception very attentive, polite and engaging making us feel very welcome and nothing was any trouble. Menus offered a great section and the food was always beautifully presented , well cooked, delicious and hot ! Could not fault our 2 night stay, this place was a great time and we’ll go back. Lots of little touches that really made the difference but too many to list here . Well done to the owners and staff

The Staff on ALL levels are very friendly, professional and cheerfull... Even at 8.00am the cleaner greated us with a welcome smile and asked what we were going to do that day. The food is presented with artistry and refinement normally associated with Michelin Star venues.

The stay wasn't long enough to sample the full range of tempting dishes along with draft Ales.

We stayed at Sycamore Cottage. It was a cute little cottage with everything one needs to have a perfect stay. The place is surrounded by a village vibe. The staff at the restaurant was helpful and enthusiastic. We really enjoyed the made-to-order breakfast. Peacock at Barlow was one of the best places we stayed during our vacation in Scotland.

We loved everything. Gorgeous in every way and the staff exceptional, very friendly and kind. We had to leave very early in the morning to catch a flight and the staff made us a breakfast before we went. Thankyou. You have the best service. We will come again.

Super friendly staff ! Very comfortable stay, shortbread on arrival, slippers, coffee machine and good breakfast. Good sized shower, nice bath and good size bathroom.

We were unable to turn off bedside tables which was annoying as it was difficult to fall asleep - other than that the stay was great

The bed was super comfy and the room was very clean and spacious. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The bedside tables in the herald room were rounded and shiny material meaning our items kept falling onto the floor a lot.

The whole experience from check in to check out was faultless. The team were friendly and professional nothing too much trouble. Can't recommend highly enough.

Lovely and characterful. Quirky even. Staff were very friendly. We were meeting with friends for an evening meal and usually you cannot pre-book. It was busy as there was a quiz night on but the staff allowed us to reserve a table. The food was great. It was very clean.

The shower was really slippery and whilst that means it’s been well cleaned, was rather a cause for concern.

Well appointed room detached from main building but with covered walkway for access. Friendly and efficient staff and nice to see management helping out during busy periods. Meals were good quality.

On the very edge of the Peak District so a bit of a drive to tourist areas however probably cheaper than staying further in.

Absolutely everything this property should be 10 star it’s absolutely faultless we was greeted by a young man called Harrison. He took us to are room called the admiral carried out cases and explained everything so we made a reservation in the restaurant and the food was fabulous. We had a great nights sleep and then went for an amazing breakfast. This place I would highly recommend just a big thank you to all at the peacock at Barlow

The Peacock at Barlow exceeded our expectations in every way. The photographs and online descriptions simply didn't do it justice. What we found on arrival was a remarkable combination of country pub, restaurant, and accommodation, all delivered to an exceptionally high standard. Having stayed in many pub accommodations over the years, I can honestly say this ranks among the very best. It was immediately clear that the owners have put a tremendous amount of thought into every detail of the guest experience. There were countless little touches throughout our stay that made a real difference and created an atmosphere of comfort and quality. The room itself was superb. One of the biggest surprises was the bathroom, which was far larger than we expected. The beautiful claw-foot bathtub was a standout feature, complete with bath salts and everything needed for a truly relaxing soak. My fiancée enjoyed it so much she barely wanted to get out. It was warm, comfortable, and felt genuinely luxurious. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep, and there was an abundance of towels available—far more than you would normally find in accommodation of this type. While you may not need them all, it was refreshing to know that everything had been anticipated without having to request additional items. The room was also equipped with a well-stocked refreshment area, including a fridge, coffee-making facilities, plenty of charging points, and all the practical conveniences you could possibly need during your stay. Of course, one of the biggest advantages is having a fantastic pub and restaurant directly downstairs. It made the whole experience incredibly convenient, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time there. The location was ideal for our trip. It was perfectly positioned for exploring the local area while still feeling peaceful and tucked away from the busier tourist spots.

Plentiful free parking with security cameras, check in was fast and efficient and I was personally shown to the cottage. Stunning. Spotlessly clean, so thoroughly well equipped it's unbelievable. There were even some shortbread biscuits in the shape of a peacock and a feather left for me with a super personalised welcome letter. The cottage has absolutely everything you could need and more. In the bathroom were luxury toiletries and cotton wool balls and earbuds in a beautiful holder that you only ever see in top flight 5 star places these days. Everywhere was immaculate, the bed was super comfy and the cottage was so peaceful. The batroom offered both a bath and a superb shower too. The decor is gorgeous throughout. Then the views!!! A gorgeous little cottage garden with seating outside and an amazing view from the double aspect lounge. The food in the pub was outstanding both in the evening and at breakfast. Both occasions offered a lovely selection for every taste and when it came it was beautifully presented, fresh and so flavoursome.
