Lovely clean room in a well maintained property. Breakfast offered a good range of freshly cooked dishes

The dining room was very noisy in the evenings which meant I didn't eat in their restaurant.

Room had several faults. Air conditioning didn’t work. Room temperature was in 80s. We had to change room after spending a sleepless night there.

Like an old lady in the centre of downtown Montreal, a revamped location brings glamour in our stay. Very nice traditional & historical restaurant location, Henri brasserie, downstairs offering breakfast and all day services, with outdoor option. Valet parking for our car was top and fast service.

A bit too much of gold & bling-bling in the decoration of the lobby did not fit the traditional building architecture. Elevators were just a few for all 5 floors service, and waiting time not convenient.

The room was big with plenty of space

We booked for 4 persons. When we arrived. Late in the evening The couch was not opened. I called the reception and they said we have to fix the second bed on our own. Furthermore the couch mattress was not comfortable. The hotel gym was poor.

I booked a room looking at the park, I end up with inside court with no explanation I didn’t asked because I checked in late in the night

Location was excellent, walk to Old Montreal, close to metro and shopping. Staff was especially good, every request was answered promptly. The entire hotel was impeccably clean.

The fitness gym was a little small but adequate and clean. There is no pool.

Customer service was exceptional

5 star stunning hotel in a great location

Extremely disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel. Despite booking a month in advance and informing the hotel of our 8-hour flight delay, we arrived exhausted at 1 a.m. to be told that, due to overbooking, there was no room available for us. After two hours of discussions, we were promised an alternative hotel of a similar category and in a similar location, a refund of our already-paid stay, and one night at Birks covered by the hotel; instead, we were sent to a noisy 3-star hotel 30 minutes outside central Montreal, in an area we did not feel comfortable in. When we returned to Birks the next day, we were then told we would have to pay for the room, contrary to what had been agreed the night before. After another very unpleasant discussion, we decided to leave. Although our original payment was eventually refunded, the entire experience and the way we were treated were completely unacceptable and far below what anyone should expect from a 5-star hotel.

Les chambres de bonne taille sont polluées par un trop plein de vieux meubles qui n ajoutent qu une sensation de lourdeur. Les détails ne sont pas ceux attendus dans un 5. Les rideaux occultants qui ne se ferment pas entièrement, les viennoiseries industrielles et de mauvaise qualité, absence de room service le soir et le quartier n est plus bon.

I drove into the city, and was so happy that they had valet parking so I didn't have to find a parking garage and walk with my bags. They took my bags from my car right up to my room for me. I was on a birthday trip with my sister, and was so surprised to see a bottle of champagne and a card waiting in my room for me as a gift from the hotel. They also have night time maid service, where they will get your room and bed ready for you to sleep. The location is also right in the heart of Montreal, so everything is a convenient short walk or metro ride away. I will definitely be staying here again if I ever find myself back in Montreal.

I was not a fan of the glass shower walls. I was on a trip with my sister, so whenever one of us would shower, the other had to sit in the room facing a wall. The shower has frosted glass, but you can still see right into the shower and get a full show of the person. This is not an issue if you are traveling with your spouse, but was a bit awkward with my sister. Other than that, I truly have no other complaints about this hotel.

Room was wonderful, very comfortable bed , terrace at little disappointed couldn’t see and see a view but the tops of buildings but still nice.

Smell in the lobby was over bearing , thankfully wasn’t in the room , door men weren’t very friendly, I put this down to the generation. A little traing to teach them how to greet people would help , they weren’t rude , just usually said nothing

Il secondo letto non era stato preparato al nostro arrivo ed il servizio lavanderia non è stato all’altezza di un 5 stelle. 2 capi erano ancora sporchi e altri non erano stati propriamente stirati. Lo staff ci ha scalato solo il prezzo dei capi non puliti ma avremmo apprezzato un’attenzione maggiore.

The room is well designed, bed, bed sheets and towels are good quality. The Hotel location - centric, can walk around town or go jogging to Mont Royal park.

The staff do not represent Birks name. Upon check in the receptionist was rude. We ask for additional bottled water - the staff just said to buy it from restaurant... The housekeeping looked overworked and not happy. The HR management has to improve.

Excellent hotel in a fantastic location. Beautiful, stylish and very comfortable, with a high standard throughout. The room was spacious and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and professional. Perfect location for exploring Montreal. I really enjoyed my stay and would happily stay at Hôtel Birks again. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff, cleanliness, and a pleasant scent. The towels were very good quality, and the bathrobes were comforting after a long day out and a shower. Water was available free of charge.

Walking into the hotel you smell a scent that is « zen » and relaxing. The whole vibe of the place is relaxing. The staff were amazing. Stephane at the reception made our stay exceptional. Carl and Marguerite in Henri Brasserie Française were fantastic! Merci à tous! We will be back 🥰

Location- park right across street. Easy access to everything. The decorations- very beautiful interior, loved the design, comfortable beds, spacious room. Loved the shower! Beautiful lobby, great restaurant.

Loud music played at happy hour in the bar permeated the entire lobby. Great if you like club music, but felt like it clashed with the ambience of the hotel- jazz would seem more appropriate. Out bathroom sink was clogged and slow to drain. That did not get fixed before we left. Our door jammed one evening and that was a little disconcerting but it was quickly resolved. Neither of those things hampered our overall experience which was delightful. I’d definitely stay there again.

The moment you enter, there is a pleasant scent. The receptionist was very professional and pleasant. The room size was spacious. All the staff we encountered were excellent.

The bathroom lighting could be improved. The beds were too soft and bouncy. Every time my husband moved, it felt like I was on a boat.

Great location, fantastic rooms, entertaining staff in the DR and a must-see historic site. You can't do better than this refurbished hotel in Birks original store on Rue Ste Catherine. Close to everything and yet on a calm square.

Staff, restaurant, convenient location

Rooms are pricey and not particularly unique, terrace price hike isn’t really worth it because terrace is uncovered and the furnishings are spare and uncomfortable. The hotel is good but the higher priced rooms aren’t remarkably different from other ones

Frühstück war sehr gut, doch hätte ich ein 'inklusive' Paket geschätzt. Die Portionen waren mehr als reichlich! Die Qualität der Speisen war hervorragend.

Das Restaurant und das Personal ist wirkllich top. Dass mann allerdings von der Personalseite nicht interveniert, wenn unerzogene Teenager ihre Videos bei voller Lautstärke laufen lassen, finde ich störend.

High class hotel, really on a five star level, excellent location, great rooms. Very clean, good room service, very attentive. Nice restaurant.

The check-in person was very arrogant. Obviously, she thought ‚arrogance‘ equals ‚high class‘. It doesn‘t. The rest of the personnel was very professional and fitting the context.

Housekeeping services were not good. They did not clean the room well leaving stuff on floor like used napkins as is. The comforter is too warm for summers.

Le personnel est sympathique (sauf celui du petit déjeuner) mais ne semble pas drivé. Les amenities dans les salles de bain sont d'une pauvreté navrante. Les chambres sont confortables mais rien de formidable. C'est un hôtel qui vit sur son emplacement exceptionnel mais qui est prétentieux sans raison.

A wonderful oasis in one of the best locations. A beautiful hotel with welcoming and professional staff. Always perfect. The rooms are large and well appointed with a lovely view over the square. I’ve been staying here every few months for business since they opened.

Everything was top notch - can’t imagine finding a better or more exquisite hotel, because everything was amazing.

Me parece muy tarde un check in a las 4pm, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que la hora máxima de check out es a las 11 am.

At Henri Brasserie restaurant, the waitress stayed on the top of my head to see the tip and she repeated the amount I tipped in loud voice and then started acting weird and never even replied my daughters while thanking her. This incident could happen in a normal mall restaurant but not in 5 stars hotel. I hope she gets a note as the incident ruined the third visit to the restaurant leaving my daughter crying after the meal.

The property is really central, the service is amazing and the rooms are clean and quiet. The bed is very comfortable. Breakfast is very good unfortunately a bit expensive for Canadian standards. Staff is super kind and available

Rooms were a bit old, the products in the bathroom are not of a 5 star level ( I would upgrade body wash and shampoo to better ones, and include bigger sizes). The facilities are not present, gym is very small and almost useless.

Location was great and if you like glitz/glamour - the lobby and bar area provide that. The young men at the front door were kind.

After the lobby, it's just a regular hotel. Nothing to brag about. You pay for the initial reaction and name. A young woman at the front desk was not welcoming and she didn't alert us when the room was ready (as promised). We had to go back to the hotel and ask. She was passively like "oh, yes - it's ready". When her boss came out (in passing), we noticed a kinder attitude from her. They cleaned our room again 2 hours after we arrived, moving everything we had just intentionally set up. Someone delivered water while we were in the room (vs before we got there) and barely knocked - we weren't sure what was happening...

La chambre réservée n’était pas prête à 16h00. Si on demande des frais supplémentaires pour une chambre avant 16h00, il faudrait accordée un rabais pour une chambre qui ne l’est pas à 16h00. Heureusement, l’attente fut courte. Nous avions la chambre 414. Le matelas était très mou, ce qui rendait le lit inconfortable. Le mini bar dans la chambre était vide, sauf pour le café nespresso. Repas au resto Henri, moyen, mais service correct.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Birks and would highly recommend it. Great central location, very friendly and helpful staff and comfortable and will appointed rooms. The restaurant, Henri is fantastic and a must for breakfast and dinner.

Booked a king room; the beds were queen-sized. When I pointed this out at the front desk, the staff member insisted they were kings rather than checking or acknowledging the difference. Also worth knowing: they place a CAD $700 incidental hold at check-in for room damages. Mine still hadn't been released more than a week after checkout. Verify the bed size before you settle in, and budget for the $700 hold sitting on your card longer than you'd expect. EDIT: almost 11 days and they still have not cancelled the deposit charge,

De kamer 217was op de tweede verdieping en alle AC apparaten stonden dicht bij de kamer en kon je horen ! Tevens slaap ik normaal altijd met een Raam open maar deze ramen konden ook niet open

This hotel was absolutely beautiful with extremely amazing staff no matter who was working. This hotel also was located in a fantastic location, situated right across from a nice little Park area to sit and enjoy a coffee or just some sunshine. There were also many food options available nearby more than walking distance. I would definitely stay here again!

The location and staff were world class, plus the decor was stunning.

I wish the TV had wifi so we could connect to our streaming services.

Le restaurant est très bien et particulièrement le petit déjeuner. La situation de l’hôtel est très centrale ce qui permet de tout faire à pied. Les chambres sont spacieuses avec une belle hauteur sous plafond. Le personnel est très agréable et à l’écoute de ses clients.

Wonderful high ceilings with huge arched windows, nice view over a pretty park, very large room, very soft comfy bed, lots of charm throughout the hotel, and excellent service.

Street / sidewalk pull-up area was very tight and not great, but nothing they really can do about that - and the staff did a good job to make it work.
