We just had a fabulous great value 2 night stay. Such a quirky traditional old fashioned English seaside hotel, just what we wanted we loved it! Our room was spotless, and fully equipped with iron, hairdryer, lots of tea, coffee and biscuits, huge fluffy towels and comfy beds. The reception rooms downstairs were so interesting, and we had a lovely sunny drink out on the pretty patio. And all the staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks so much 😃 also recommend looking for the zabre secret cafe, opposite and slightly down the road. A lovely friendly cafe hidden behind a clothes shop with a beautiful flower filled sunny courtyard garden... and wine!
The staff were amazing, the manager josh couldn't do enough for us ,bar staff and reception were friendly, nothing was to much trouble 😊
When we first got to the reception we was told we would be across the road in their other hotel, as the main one was full, I asked if there was a lift as l had just had carpal tunnel operation on my hand and my sister had recently had a mini stroke, were taken over by the manager Josh when we entered it ,it was disgusting , grotty it looked like student accommodation and the sink was cracked the chair was broken and the bed looked like someone hadn't long got out of it ,so we told josh we wasn't happy with the state of it considering we booked in January because the picture of the twin room looked absolutely stunning that's why we wanted to stay there,so josh said give him 10 minutes ,he would sort it out,he then took us back to the hotel and gave us a choice of 2 rooms,so after a bad start we had a lovely holiday thanks to josh and his team,we even got them a thank you card and chocolates
Location was perfect for Ryde/public transport Staff very helpful
Hotel looking unloved. Bin not emptied, stained bedding, and dead plants in the patio area.
Location is good. Close to shops, and transports
Booked two rooms . Which they gave it in two different buildings.
Nice
Nothing
The place in a good place walkable distance from pier.
The smell of carpets and carpets are dirty deep cleaning might help. Also glasses for water drinking are necessary inside rooms.
Location was ok
Very dated. And put on the top floor with no lift.
Location
Could really do with a makeover and more staff
Room floor carpet is not clean dirty please change the floor carpet
Location
No breakfast on site had to go to pub next door. Decor a bit tired. No double glazing, traffic very noisy over night.
Just the location of the hotel
Room was up 3 flights of stairs and a attic room with no head room at all , and all the walls had stains on them the blind on the window was ripped torn and letting in light as per photos, The bathroom was dirty above the sink , and one of the taps was broken, and the shaving didn’t work , the fan in the bathroom didn’t work, and there was stains on the wall of the bathroom, the light on the bed didn’t work so all in all very disappointing in deed.
A very comfortable hotel and friendly staff. Comfortable beds.
No in house catering Breakfast starts at 09.00. A lot of people are sightseeing on the island and this means a later start losing half a day. Also staying with you for 6 days - that's over £200 alone for breakfast that we spent in the diner down the road. The meals we had were awful - including salad that had been sitting out since the morning - another example of lost revenue with meals we could have had at £100 a night. Housekeeping- leaving lights on all day after cleaning. Dusting and hoovering needs to be looked at around the hotel - not just in the rooms. And the toilet paper was just awful. Talking about toilets - the mismatching toilet seats and the disabled cubicle not locking in the public area. In all - I stayed at the hotel in 2018 after a strong recommendation. I will sadly not be recommending anyone to the hotel in this state. Though the lady with glasses at reception (who was here when I first came here) was absolutely 💯 lovely.
Well situated, I just needed a base for 1 night. Room was OK, probably a little dated especially the bathroom. Staff I spoke too very friendly. For the price I paid I was satisfied.

All of it
Perfect location, staff really friendly, big rooms, comfortable beds. Really great place
Nothing. It maybe needs a titivate in some areas but doesn't deter from all the good
No lift
The staff were friendly as usual. Had help to get my suitcases upstairs. Always feels like meeting friends. The view of the pier and roof tops was amazing. Prices not silly as was Ryde Carnival, many other hotels had really put their prices up
One mattress was rather stained, windows need cleaning
The staff were friendly and bar/receptions area was nice. Good location to get around Ryde. Good 'base' to visit the Island. The bed was unexpectedly comfortable. Had a few toiletries - soap, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner; and tea & coffee. Enough Space to put clothes and provided an iron (although the bottom was black) & ironing board
once away from reception, everything looked grubby - doors, skirting boards, walls etc. Carpet in room was badly stained, as was the mattress (had a blanket instead of mattress protector). Only 2 flat pillows (luckily i had taken my own). No plug socket beside the bed (needed for cpap machine)- but they provided a very long wind up extension lead (had to be unravelled which i tried to lay against the wall [still managed to trip on it!}). Areas around the room were dusty. There were a few car parking spaces across the road behind the annexe; we walked through this and it smelt, there was also someone swearing out of the window - glad we stayed in the main hotel.
Good location
Die Lage ist wirklich super! Die Zimmer sind zweckmäßig, das Bad eher lieblos, aber sauber.
Betten leider etwas durchgelegen. Ein Parkplatz ist vorhanden, aber sehr beengt.
The b2d was very comfy and I slept very well.
Net curtains were ripped. The plug attached to the fan was covered in tape & not safe.
Position and staff kindly let us in early
Booked last minute but so dirty but only went in late at night but left early next Monday so so dirty
Bathroom dirty Bed uncomfortable Old room so disgusting
I liked the location of the hotel and the size of the room.
I didn’t like the fact that everywhere I walked in the room, the floorboards creaked very loudly. I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t told her to get room service and didn’t have the sign to request it until I asked for it. I didn’t like the fact that the remote control was broken as well as the TV. And it was very difficult to get the TV to work. I didn’t like the fact that there were no plug sockets near the bed or the mirror which made things very awkward getting ready in the morning and at night. I didn’t like the fact that I heard my two separate bookings at the hotel and was told to get out of the room as they had enough person checking in that day. I was told I didn’t have a second booking with booking.com. I told him that I had advised I had a booking. They told me this wasn’t the case. They told me to come downstairs. As I was making my way downstairs to reception, they told me that they had found a booking and booking.com made a mistake. This is absolutely disgusting.
Location, clean.
Not always someone on reception, even though paid for breakfast 2 of the 3 days you had to go to the pub next door for breakfast and the service wasn't good.
Great location. Kind staff.
One room was not fresh it was a bit old
Spacious room & comfy bed, brilliant location.
Lack of parking & a little dated
Central location, room was comfortable.
N/A
The room was clean and spacious, walking distance to the beach and food places.
You can feel the springs on some mattress.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day and the hotel overall was very clean.
Comfortable bed , great view , fantastic shower
Poor WiFi
Location of hotel was perfect. Breakfast was in building next door which was closed the morning we chose to have breakfast at hotel, ended up going somewhere else to eat.
Unclear advice when booking about the limited parking availability
The hotel needs to be updated. Windows are very poor with rotting wood and broken windows. Rust round shower. Room itself was large and clean. We stayed in an appointment over the road from hotel.
Just the fact it needed updating
Close to all the activities, enjoyed the breakfast and a good price
Car parking was a problem
The hotel is well located in the city centre and the rooms are quiet.
The room's furnishings are outdated and in dire need of an overhaul. We were in the four-person room, and the children's beds were appalling. It's shameful to ask guests to sleep in such beds with such worn-out mattresses, even if they are children. The room was unbearably hot, and no one on staff ever seemed concerned. Whenever we went to the bathroom, the towel warmer would turn on by itself and couldn't be turned off, even though the room temperature was already low.
Ideal, v spacious. Comfy.
Walk to the seafront
We booked a quadruple room and a twin room. Both rooms were in 2 different buildings which was not mentioned while booking. The twin room had a private bathroom according to the description but the bathroom looked like a disabled wetroom with handrails and call bells instead of a proper bathroom. The quadruple room was with seaview according to description but we couldn't see any sea from the room. Overall experience was average.
Excellent location , very clean room attended every day and tea coffee sugar etc refreshed bed made up ,
No breakfast included as I booked with booking.com but is available by payment
Ideal location with very friendly staff.
Bathroom is dated & shower head and extractor fan needs attention.
La taille de l'hébergement et tous les espaces communs. Super agréable !
Location was very good. Many restaurants and shopping around. Easy access to train station and buses. Stuff very friendly and access to parking free.
Don't have lift.
Clean
Room 29. Attic conversation, cramped and uncomfortable. Unbearably hot. Portable fan , v v small window, so no ventilation If there was a fire , I would have been trapped , so I felt v v dangerous place to stay Did not stay , went home after 5 hours
Location was perfect for our 1 night get away, room was very comfortable, very good for the price paid. Stayed in room 37 ' over the bridge' no noise from other rooms, slight noise of cars using street below, but windows fully opened!! Would stay in again
Coming home.. as mentioned road below was a little bit of noise but nothing compaired to being on the high street. Only grip was getting shower to right tempurture was a bit of hit or miss.
We did not stay at this hotel as it was not suitable and access was difficult, the staff did not have anything else available but offered us a full refund which they said I would have to apply for through yourself, I have written confirmation of this, can you please let me know if I need to do anything else. Thank you
It was very good
Nothing
The positives are definitely the location and the staff. The location is five minutes from the seafront, and there are plenty of shops up and down the hill either way from the hotel. Perfect places to potter and eat, with really friendly locals to have a chat and offer things to do and see. The staff at the hotel were all lovely, and very welcoming. We were also able to stash our luggage before and after checking in and out. The staff were relaxed but helpful. The meal that we did have one evening was really tasty, and was presented really well. The value for the food was great.
We were in the annex across the street, and to get to our room was quite an "adventure" out the back of beyond! Arriving in our room it was very basic, but had two beds, a wardrobe, drawers, dresser and all facilities were working. There was also a fan in the wardrobe which was needed for a couple of nights. The walls are very thin and someone walking about in the room above sounded like they were about to join you on your own room. The beds could also do with new mattresses as both the beds dipped in the middle, and were quite uncomfortable to sleep in. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the walls, ceiling and floor were pretty poor, and there was a problem for our entire stay with ants getting everywhere. To get anything or to speak to anyone at the hotel meant walking back across the street, which was not ideal. It felt very much like a forgotten part, and definitely not part of a hotel.
Amazing location in center of town.
We stayed here 8 years ago and it was lovely, a little dated but clean with old school grandeur. I thought we'd have a similar experience this time but not so. The room was dirty, the bed was old and hard, the windows did not open. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work (bathroom also dirty) and the shower was either boiling or luke warm. Our room was serviced each day but that litterally meant the staff made the bed...badly. I don't know how you can look at a bed you made with pillows astray and creases in the duvet (not creases you need to iron, like the duvet has bumps cause you made no effort to straighten it) and think "yep, that's grand" lol. It was like faulty towers. One good thing was the size of the room, we did have lots of space to lay out our suitcases which is helpful when you are staying somewhere for a week.
very tasty meals.
We stayed in a self catering apartment. Basic but it had everything we needed. Good location. Helpful friendly staff. Lovely food. Clean and tidy. Shower excellent.
No guaranteed parking spaces. No microwave. Windows could do with a clean. Apartment could do with a lick of paint.
Room was in attic stairs not suitable room requires Decco TOO many cracks windows out of date
The location was useful but it makes it a very noisy location.
The scruffiest poorly maintained hotel I have ever stayed in. It needs closing, gutting and rebuilding. Do not stay in room 10, it’s awful and noisy, room 6 was fractionally better but it’s also the fire escape, there’s even a key (in a glass box) to enter your room in emergency!
La vue magnifique depuis la chambre.
44 marches sans ascenseur et un ménage peu soigné.
Location
Just poor upkeep of the hotel. Noisy - couldn't sleep as there were probably 10-15 people partying in the next room. There's no parking - it's on another small road but it's only for 3-4 cars and for the 4 days that we were there we couldn't park on any day as it was full. This hotel has two buildings on either side of the road. We were given a room in what was called Bromley House which is not the main hotel building. These rooms are above Ladbroke. I made a complaint about the noise one day - on other days there was no one at reception when I crossed the road and went there. If you ask why couldn't I call - well there's no phone in the rooms. I was told I can call in the Google listed phone by my mobile if I need to reach the reception. The room was spacious but furniture was old and worn off - paint's peeled off from the chair, for example. Also there's no hand wash - a small soap bar was kept on the basin which I remember as something from the 80s. Overall less value for money.
Location was ok
Booked apartment with cooking and microwave in kitchen had neither. Very poor after advertising a kitchen.
Good location for the area and we had a sea view room.
The hotel is in need of a big refurbishment, cannot comment on other rooms but our room seemed to be a bit neglected, the breakfast was in the building next door but it did not open until 9am, we walked past reception many times and it was hardly ever manned, we only found out about breakfast (as nobody at reception in the morning to ask and we were not the only people looking) when we went for a meal in the pub next door and asked if they were linked to the hotel as we could see a bridge between the 2 buildings
Nice
Bedroom
Location & facing litiges in bedroom
We had 2 single rooms The mattress in room 34 was bad & you could feel the buttons through the sheets
Booked for 2 nights but plans changed and only stayed for one. Hotel is no frills but cheap, clean and a good location.
It’s a little bit tired but fair for the price.
It's a very good, central location. The beds were comfortable. Good sized rooms as well.
It's very dated and worn. It needs updating. The shower in one room Didn't work.
Great location
It could have been cleaner very dated and sad
Location was great central to shops and bus station.Staff were lovely and very helpful.Breakfast was very good..
Well everything was clean and tidy however it would be nice to see the Yelf refurbished especially the garden area.Wouldn't cost much to revarnish the outside tables or paint them.Conservatatory roof really needs a clean with a pressure washer or mop.The windows need a good clean in the bedrooms and the fire exit stairs outside my room need painting as all rusty and dirty looking.
room was spacious , soft king size bed , location was great close to bus station , breakfast was serviced next door and was excellent, but had own bar and food menu .
Room needed up dating , window outside ledge paint was flaking and moss growing on it , old anti slip mat in bath but was changed for a new one next day , bath plug didn't fit had to properly , toilet needed descaling . we did not ask for a quiet room , so expected some noise as room was at the front of the hotel at bit noisy at night plus pub next door in part of the town.
Great location
Dated decor and dated furnishings
Great location. Own bathroom. Great amenities. Complimentary tea/coffee.
Noisy on the night that might annoy some, but knew frim previous reviews this was the case so was prepared. No issues though as everyone is just having a good time.
Loved the location, have stayed many times, staff always friendly, nothing too much trouble.
Getting a little tired as so old but part of the charm
Idea location and very helpful and friendly staff.
Could just do with a general update of the rooms in particular. We used to live in Ryde 15 years ago and the Hotel hasn't changed at all.
Location was perfect, everything was clean and comfortable and the staff were all friendly and polite. Tea/coffee was replenished every day and having a fan was a particular highlight in the current heatwave! The beds were particularly comfortable
The hotel in general is a tired and could do with some decoration and TLC, but for a place to simply sleep/wash it was exactly all we needed! The shower had a mind of it's own, you had to just turn the hot tap a millimeter and it was scalding hot. Having a hairdryer would've been useful (more so than an iron, but that says more about me than them!)
Broken bed, couldn't move rooms as fully booked. Had to sleep on floor. Haven't heard any correspondence back re a refund.
Broken bed
We liked that there was a Smart TV in the apartment hotel and the location of being in a popular Street of Ryde + close to the Ryde Pier...
Firstly, the kitchen stoves, when turned on, made all stoves burners heat up a lot which did cause a bit of trouble cooking. Secondly, the bed located in the living + kitchen room (made using the couch) was uncomfortable. Plus, the position of the lamp over the bed next to a window in the room with the TV was directly above the pillow, hence my family member had to carefully wake up in the night.
The room was absolutely filthy Cobwebs everywhere Thick dust Hadn’t been hoovered Net curtains disgusting Bed beautiful
The room was awful
Gute Lage, Freundliches Personal
Zimmer extrem niedrig. Zimmerhöhe ca. 1.8m. Kein täglicher Service.
Great location for Ryde..
Dirty sheets on the bed, very dated room.. safety bar in the room was broken.
Good Location
No Carpark as advertised No breakfast available till 9am My room had water marks all over the ceiling. In desperate need of a re fresh paint job The blind did not pull down and has holes in the bit that was pulled down so the room was very light by 5am
Our first night as a family of five was unfortunately quite uncomfortable. The room had only one small fan, and the beds were not ideal. The carpet appeared unclean, and there was an unpleasant odor. While there was a kettle for tea, there was no water provided.
The beds are super uncomfortable, the carpet is filthy, and the shower is so slow.
Cheap, friendly staff. Location was fine if you want to be in central Ryde.
The mattress was lumpy, uncomfortable and uneven. You could clearly feel the springs. It was also very short and narrow. I'm 170 cm and my toes were hanging off the end of the bed. The size of the bed was almost comical because the room itself was very large.
Location for hovercraft. Hot shower and good big towels.
Very dated decor but clean.
Location was okay and staff good
For gods sake spend a bit of money on rooms ans exterior windows. Business owners on the island need to wake up. Unless you owners put something back and ferry prices ad they are you will not have a business, because people will stop coming. Tourism is already down on the island
Location good.
There was nothing i didn't like.
Thought the location was very good and central.
It did not bother me but some people might not like the fact there are no lifts to the higher rooms. The bath could do with a bath mat as you could easily slip in bath and also need sight to say water is extremely hot to be aware.
Convenient for the fast cat
Room maintenance was very poor, very tired. two of the sash windows in my room were broken and didn’t close so was kept awake all night by traffic noise and people in bars. Broken pane of glass in one window. Only one of the windows had curtains so was woken by bright sunshine and noise at 6 am. Knew I was booking a cheap hotel, but thought I just needed a bed for the night as attending a function but didn’t even get a good nights sleep.
Location was ideal, close to town, bus stops and restaurants
A bit on the older style, maybe a redecorating at some time soon. Staff helpful but not always easy to find.
Large family room with a TV containing streaming apps (if you sign in your own account)
Unclean, stains on the walls, floors, radiators, awful parking, really run down, desperate need of a refurb, very cheap with a too large price tag.
Location
One window screwed shut other window hard to open and close, and extremely thin blind, for safety we were unable to leave window open as it was close to a fire exit door, which was propped open. Towels not changed, carpet filthy
Nice large room. Friendly staff.
No lift. No safe in room.
The receptionist was not rude, but certainly not friendly, didn't use my name or welcome me to the hotel. I was not offered any information about dinner or breakfast.
Room was in the attic, Not full height door into the attic and pokey corridors leading to it. The hotel decor' itself was not bad, not good either but adequate. However as you ascended the quality of the decor' descended Roof was unbearably hot. Only ventilation was a large sky light which was shut to keep the hot air out and had an inadequate blind to screen out the sun. A small fan was on circulating the hot air. Even when the sun left the roof and the window could be opened there was no air due to a parapet wall immediately outside the window. When I returned my key to leave I was immediately offered an alternative room but by then I had already decided to leave. If they knew the room was going to be impossible to use and had a room available which might have been better, why was I not offered it when I arrived?
Really good the staff were very friendly
The room could do with painting as the walls were a bit dirty but apart from that it was okay upgrading the shower as it was very weak
Location, friendly and helpful staff!
Needs updating
Location and cleanliness
Property does need cosmetic updating
The location was good. There were too many stairs and NO lifts, not good when you have a bad leg. The room was basic. They say you get what you pay for, but what they charge for that, was very expensive. I doubt very much if I'll go there again. I never saw or heard a hoover. My room Never got hoovered once in the 12 days that I stayed there 😒 not good enough.
Everything
Staff were nice, and the location was good.
I was staying in mostly budget hotels while walking the coastal path. All I needed was a clean comfy bed, a shower, and a good night sleep: I had none. Room 59 in the hotel over the road. The bathroom was dirty, the sink was cracked and the shower wouldn't stay up high enough to get under. Also there was a water heater that seemed to serve another room. The twin beds were pushed together and different heights. Both of them were so lumpy with springs sticking up all over the place the only way I could get comfortable was to pile up the duvet and all of the pillows. Couldn't open any windows as the car park was directly outside. The hotel was noisy with banging and squeaking floorboards on the floor above.
Good location
Only one option for vegans and that was part of a starter, no mains options
Good central location
The parking was stressful. I had to squeeze into a spot next to a dumped van and climb out of the passenger door to get a place. Seems that non-hotel ppeople were using the car park; later in the night when they had gone I moved to a proper space. There were two derelict cars in the car park?
Very excellent 😊
None
The hotel is close to No64 breakfast cafe and Ryde beach
Once I finally got to my hotel room, I understood why there was no pictures of the rooms posted on the app, the place is run down and filthy. A bunch of hair in my bed when I first pulled back the sheets, my bedding had black marks on it, the carpet was blue but stained brown, the desk chair had a huge gum stuck to it. Thank goodness I only had one night book or I would of cried and travelled 6 hours back home without a doubt
