Room size, layout, facilities
Bathroom could have been a wider, it’s narrow if 2 people in it at the same time.
House was excellent , used it for 2 nights for a wedding. Family stayed and really loved the stay.
Parking a little tight if you have more than 3 cars
The room was fabulous and a really comfy bed. Short walk to centre of Tetbury
The stay was let down by the evening meal. It was a Monday night though and a different night might have been better
Perfectly positioned and very quaint 💕
Everything
Room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Location was perfect. Food at the pub was fantastic too - would 100% recommend!
Perfect hotel. Beautiful rooms. Delicious food
Very quiet and relaxing chilled out atmosphere. Location excellent staff brilliant and a lovely breakfast we had and didn't know it was dog friendly so definitely be back again with our dog Lovely few days away
Lack of storage in room was the only minor criticism
Accomodation was very comfortable, it’s close to the town centre but quiet and I slept well. Shower is over bath but good pressure. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is made to order and uses good quality ingredients. Tetbury itself is a charming little historic town, close to Westonbirt Arboretum which is definitely worth a visit.
The only downside was the neighbour directly above who walked on wooden floorboards in what sounded like high heals. Luckily, they slept quite early so didn’t keep us awake.
Had everything we needed, staff really friendly, small but comfortable room
Nothing
Friendly staff properly was clean with a good size room and bathroom.
Comfortable bed tidy place
Het bed sliep heerlijk, mooie ligging en het was schoon.
Niks
The location
The noise in the room above was unbearable. There is no soundproofing between the wooden floor and ceiling above the room we stayed in. We booked the deluxe garden room not realising that the outside pub tables were directly outside our room, this meant we had to listen to entire conversations. This only lasted until 23.00 and the pub closed. The room was oppressive and hot. The light switches worked randomly. The member of staff serving breakfast smoked a cigarette outside the door to the dining area and came back in and carried out her duties without handwashing after smoking (this is a food safety issue as hand to mouth can cause cross contamination of staphylococcus bacteria). We saw the inside of the kitchen as the door was open to the street, there were chains in place to deter flying insects entering, however the step and pavement outside looked like an oil slick had run out of the kitchen. This wasn’t the most inviting approach to the hotel. Our fellow guests managed to get a room at very late notice and moved out due to the noise.
Location was perfect for a planned tour to highgrove. Building was very charming with great character.
Room was very airless and dimly lit. needs a ceiling fan or air conditioner. No ventilation made sleeping uncomfortable.
Lovely period property in a quiet yet easily accessible location
Room wasn’t huge but was quiet and comfortable
The room was very comfortable and clean. The food was also good.
Lovely room and beautiful pub
Unfortunately very hot
Tetbury is a town and civil parish inside the Cotswold district Gloucestershire, England. It lies on the site of an ancient hill fort on which an Anglo-Saxon monastery was founded - probably by Ine of Wessex, in 681. The Royal Oak is a charming and friendly free house dating from the late 18th century having been restored back undergoing extensive restoration. There's a classic saloon bar with upcycled furnishings, cosy booths, a beautiful Art Deco piano and a vintage jukebox. Stylish dining as well as private dining for gatherings and celebrations can be enjoyed in the restaurant in the rafters. Having six en suite rooms the Royal Oak is a fun and relaxed getaway from which to browse the chic boutiques of Tetbury or explore the beautiful Cotswolds. Ample patrons’ parking is available immediately to the rear of the pub on Herd Lane. Tetbury’s free long stay car park is also located a minute’s walk away next to the Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre. Room 6 is perfect for a long w/end Double with mezzanine and french windows opening out over the garden and terrace. All Royal Oak Personnel were very polite, friendly, attentive and efficient. The dining experience was splendid both dinner and breakfast.
What was not to like!! Possibly the addition of a small fridge was be a bonus particularly for the extremely hot summer season.
Cleanliness, comfort, location
Nothing
Close to village . Room was nice and large and bed was comfy, Fan provided in the heat. Bar staff were very nice and helpful.
No fridge in room. Room was visibly dusty in parts and floors were not clean. Food not good, either dinner or breakfast, had to send dinner back as fish wasn’t cooked, in fairness staff were apologetic and another dinner was cooked. Breakfast was inedible, couldn’t be bothered complaining again. Bathroom was lovely but Shower didn’t work and then staff were unsure it could be fixed, that day and since we didn’t want to risk another day without a shower we moved on. In fairness they did refund the second night, that we had paid for but only after, calling in again and ringing multiple times,to try and speak to manager. Once we did get manager he did refund straight away.
It’s a pretty, old pub with a quaint pub courtyard The breakfast was in the pub and it was tasty and the gentleman who served at breakfast gave great service It’s a very quick walk into Tetbury where we ate each evening and very close to Highgrove so really easy location
The rooms had a little window on to the pub courtyard so noisy in the hot weather. The room only had a little fan and I appreciate we are in a drought but it was very hot The staff didn’t really engage with us. Not bad service at all just left us and not wanting to connect.
Typical Cotswold Inn in a superb village. Courtyard area provided an excellent venue for the pre wedding party.
Nothing
Loved our Suite, it was nicely furnished bright room, very comfortable, had a lovely shower room and a plug points next next to the mirror for hair drying( sometimes lacking in hotels)
Mysig atmosfär, trevligt och rent. Extra trevligt med uteserveringen i trädgården. Generös frukost.
Room good. Breakfast OK. Location lovely.
The fact that there was no fridge in the room.
Breakfast was great good choice
We had dinner it was a bit disappointing
Friendly staff and good location near to lovely walks with the dog
Room extremely hot even when it cooled outside at night. The pub pavement very dirty as there has been no rain. It wouldn’t be a problem if it had been cooler weather as the room comfortable otherwise
Lovely old building in beautiful town , very quiet at night and very friendly staff . Really impressed that there was iat milk available in the bedroom
Room was very hot and would have been good to open the windows more fully. Great to have vegan choices for breakfast but it was small, perhaps 2 sausages rather than one?
The location was great and the staff friendly and helpful 😊
We stayed in Acorn House which had spacious rooms and well designed spaces. With all the facilities we needed, including a very good coffee machine.
There were a few items in the kitchen missing like surface spray, kitchen roll and scissors and some of the shelves looked like they hadn’t been dusted in a while.
The room was excellent the staff were polite and helpful.
Our stay included breakfast and we decided to eat in their restaurant which was a mistake the double cheese soufflet was more like a dumpling solid with no air or rise drown in a gluppie cheese sauce. When we sent it back we were advised that was how it was meant to be? Absurd! The sharing Camembert platter, the cheese was fine not much to go wrong the cured meat selection was 4 pieces of sweaty Parma ham and 4 slices of cured ham - sad no imagination.
Really enjoyed our stay . The staff were so friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast .
We arrived at 6 on Sunday night so bit disappointed that no food available. However we ate in Tetbury which was very good and a chance to have a wander around the charming town.
Very comfortable beds and well appointed rooms.
Nothing.
Choice of ales on tap in the bat and a really good breakfast in the .morning. Every member of staff we interacted with was personnable and helpful.
Room was billy boiling in the evenings even with a fan in the room, but we can't really blame the establishment for a heatwave
Breakfast was fantastic and breakfast staff also excellent, room cleanliness excellent
Evening staff not so good, plates etc needed clearing, staff were ignoring clearing these up when delivering food. Bed was curving down at edges, not brilliantly comfortable.
Quiet location despite being on a road, lovely decor, comfortable bed, great breakfast
It was a great find ,very clean and run well
The pub in the side shut at 8pm ,but there are other pubs in tje town which is a walk away
Evening Meal, limited choice but excellently presented and enjoyable. Breakfast could have had more Cereal options they were only two Cereal and two drink options which made the Continental Breakfast poor value.
Nice characterful property in good location on outskirts of Tetbury
Our room was ground floor & garden benches placed outside only window in the room, which meant we couldn’t open the only window without a lot of noise and cigarette smoke from some customers smoke coming into the room - and in the current t heat was less than ideal🥵! Such a shame
Great location and lovely old buildings. Nice bar and spacious outdoor area.
Small breakfast included. Limited gluten free choices. Small room, no wardrobe.
Tetbury is a charming town. The Royal Oak is maybe a 10 minute walk to the old center. This is also a pub and the food was good. The staff is very helpful and kind. My room was charming and comfortable. Comfy bed. I was only here one night but i Would definitely stay here again.
The staff are friendly, the food was lovely and the house was great, as it's an older building there is no downstairs toilet which some may find an issue. But we managed just fine. We will definitely stay again.
Perfect budget accommodation for groups and solo travellers, upmarket hostel feel with ensuite rooms and privacy. Safe bike storage. Kitchen was spotless (communal). Bathrooms good, price for stay even better. Ludlow is a great place to visit. Fan in room.
Nil
A beautiful part of the Cotswolds Lovely decor, staff were welcoming and friendly. Did need air con as it was exceptionally hot. Noticed the cottage on the end had air con.
The room was exceptionally hot as it is in a loft with a mezzanine floor with 2 single beds.
Charming, well run pub rooms with friendly, helpful staff

Great location with parking. Lovely breakfast and comfortable bed.
We ate at the pub and the food was excellent, however the drinks were very expensive. A medium white wine and half a cider was £12, however if you walk up the hill to the Snooty Fox the same drinks are less than £10.
Lovely rooms friendly staff
Upgraded to the house and it was beautiful :-)
nothing
The location was fabulous. The food was beautiful and the staff were so pleasant and helpful. Erica served us our meal on the first night and she was sociable and friendly. It was very dog friendly which was great for us.
We did not like anything about the property. The only thing that was missing was either a wardrobe or a table to put our other case on. We had to leave everything in the case on the floor. Also an iron in the room would have been helpful. Otherwise it was beautiful
Comfortable quiet room. Good decaff. choices of drinks in room and at breakfast. Good breakfast. Quiet location
Water was only tepid in bath although hot in basin. Pillows could have been softer.
The quiet & comfortable room. Very clean, lovely en-suite. Very comfortable bed. Everything you could want.
Can’t think of anything
My breakfast was average - husband liked the bacon - area where we had breakfast not very warm or cosy. Bar area uninspiring and disappointing which was why we had our evening meal elsewhere in Tetbury.
Our room was cold and we initially didn’t have any hot water. We reported it to staff who told us maintenance staff would deal with it in about half an hour. Waited about an hour and finally at about 7.45 very pleasant guy came to room to sort it out. We said we had to go out to get something to eat and we were happy to leave it in his hands. On our return the problem had been fixed so thank you very much. Also room had overpowering smell of a cheap air freshener which was unpleasant. Also when we went into the bar a customer was vaping - so we didn’t want to eat in there.
Staff exceptionally helpful - booked us a taxi on the last minute to Highgrove. Also stored our bags after checkout for the day.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was very large and well decorated with good beds. The location was pleasantly rural, convenient for walks, and pretty close to the town.
The room was noisy on the first afternoon and evening as it directly overlooked the outdoor seating for the pub (and we had to leave the French door open as the towel rail was on full and it was very warm). The window didn't open. The shower only ran lukewarm and the temperature constantly fluctuated. The mugs, drinks and bathroom products seemed cheap for the price of the room, which I feel should have also included breakfast. The TV kept going to Netflix even when other options were chosen, and a coffee table would have been useful in the seating area. Overall, it just wasn't the experience we hoped for when opting for a suite at this price.
Close to the centre of Tetbury; convenient car parking; good breakfast; helpful staff
The bedroom was pretty small and the bed was on the soft side
Lovely big room with excellent bathroom
Nothing
Excellent location, staff were so helpful. We arrived early for a wedding and they had the room ready for us which was amazing. Very comfy bed, nice sized bathroom in a beautiful location. Very good value for money. Would highly recommend.
No complaints at all.
Good place to stay with easy parking, room was excellent.
Little vegetarian choice in restaurant, had a better choice in the outside kitchen but it was closed😟
The room was nice and comfortable no complaints the staff were friendly and helpful.
We tried to get an evening meal at 8.15 when we arrived but was told that the kitchen was no longer serving food even though the boards stated food was served up until 8.30pm. We was dissapointed about this after a 3 and half hour drive.
Beautiful place , friendly very clean location .
A limited menu
The staff were absolutely amazing they were very attentive
Food was amazing the portions were very big
The staff
The room was quite hot
Beautiful pub in a lovely location. Great food and staff fantastic
Friendly/helpful staff Peaceful location, with a few minutes walk into the Highstreet My stay was so enjoyable have rebooked for two days over Christmas
Nothing
Good location. Comfortable bed and good shower.
The property was just what we were looking for when we wanted to spend a night in the Cotswolds. Charming. Storybook. Absolutely perfect!
Room was spacious clean and warm very inviting and quiet, very good, give it a nine, although lighting was a bit hap hazard
Pub closes at 8non a Sunday so no food or drinks at evening ni problem as we went elsewhere so can only judge them on breakfast, ingrediants quality so so suave ok but looked grey was it microwaved? so so toast was miserly portion and poor bread quality coffee was terrible the sort of old filter coffer that was made a long time ago. For breakfast I expect decent coffee and bread not small sizes of poor quality, sorry it really let you down a shame given the room was lovely
Posto incantevole, buona colazione, ottima cena.
qualche problema con la riservazione delle camere, ma tutto risolto all'arrivo.
