Breakfast good, staff lovely, pleasurable stay
Bed a bit snug in Jacobean room and high side tables made accessing electric socket but tricky, Also hairdryer wad a bit ropey.
Lovely Hotel on the main street. Plenty of character and period features. All the staff were really nice and professional. Breakfast and food in the restaurant fab. Highly recommended.
We stayed in a heatwave, and there is no air-conditioning. Fans provided in the rooms but it was still like an oven... Parking quite limited - especially for larger cars
Lovely old building, full of characters. Beautiful gardens with lots of places to sit and enjoy.
No air conditioning in very hot weather
A beautiful hotel with a charming garden in an excellent location. The staff were amazing; always available, helpful, and friendly throughout our entire stay.
The bed was small and not very comfortable.
Aree comuni molto belle. Camera spaziosa.
Tolles Frühstück in absolut traumhafte Räumlichkeiten
The breakfast was wonderful! The grounds were very lovely. The staff was incredibly kind and allowed us to check in a bit early (for a fee).
When we arrived, we noticed that we could have booked directly with the hotel for cheaper than we had on booking.com. We've reached out to Booking and are hoping to hear back.
Location was fabulous and the garden to sit, relax and enjoy drink and food was lovely. The room was clean, full of character and charm. The bed was comfortable. The staff went over and above to look after us. Highly recommend.
Lovely decor, a bit quirky. Good location in the centre of town.
There was no lift to reach the bedrooms and the tables in the bar area were very sticky
Great location, stunning on the inside. So many gorgeous spaces inside and out to relax. So many little details are thought of and basic amenities are elevated. We were sad to leave!
Not a thing. We loved it.
Food was good, staff were attentive and friendly, room was really comfortable
Noise from the garden in the evening, could have done with a desk in the room but I forgot to check this in advance
Stunning hotel.
Great building lovely rooms
Lovely old building with tasteful interiors, we stayed in Cuckoo, super comfy bed, Molton Brown toiletries. Great outside area, a well kept garden with plenty of seating. Lucky enough to have a warm evening so ate al fresco, and it was Thursday ‘steak night’, highly recommend, perfectly cooked chateaubriand & tasty peppercorn sauce. Staff are friendly & efficient. Also very dog friendly, even an extra sausage at breakfast for them.
Nothing
Very luxurious. Great location great rooms
Rates are a little high but what you would expect from a hotel of this quality
The property itself was stunning, our room was beautiful. The cleaning staff were very helpful and kind. Our room was spotless. The staff member on reception as we was leaving was very jolly, professional and a delight from the other staff member.
The bed was uncomfortable it dipped in the middle so we had a poor nights sleep. Also I asked for a bottle of wine to be left in our room upon arrival. I submitted the request through booking.com they had nothing to say I had requested this. The staff member that greeted us and showed us to our room was, rushing about. Not helpful, i understand he could have been rushed off his feet and busy, I found him to be not very personable.
Beautiful building and location in Tetbury on the high street. Lovely gardens and outdoor dining area. Spacious room (we were upgraded to a superior room with a garden view) and it was lovely. Great amenities in the room and a very comfy bed. Great food. Lovely staff at reception and dinner. So friendly and helpful with an upgrade and local recommendations.
Didn’t feel great value for money for a DBB package given the hotel has limited amenities and on-site drink / food prices outside the package are high. But we were surprised with an upgrade at check in which was lovely.
Location , comfy bed
Nothing stood out
The Room was lovely and nice to have a good fan. And everything you need. The cakes in the room were a good touch.
Breakfast was nice. But service was poor asked for brown toast and brown sauce but both never turned up . No reason or excuses for it the lady never came back again so went back to our room and left.
Beautiful property with a lovely garden. Lovely restaurant and the food is just amazing. Expensive but excellent quality. Decor in the main hotel is stunning.
Our room was tiny and for the price, I would have expected better facilities - not even a mini fridge. The decor in our room felt tired and in need of an upgrade. The hotel owner needs to take some of his vast profits and spend some money on the rooms, or else they should make the nightly room fee more reasonable.
The hotel is right in the middle of the town centre. Our room overlooked the garden and was quiet. There was a good choice on the lunch and breakfast menus. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
The car park was a too small.
Excellent location, atmosphere, food and service.
The staff, the bed, the shower, the food ...and the location.
It would have been nice if breakfast went past 9.30am (given it's not a business hotel). My friend also had someone else's bill charged to her credit card.
The location in the centre of Tetbury is ideal and to have a car park is a bonus
It is a nice hotel. The common areas are beautiful, location is excellent. It is an older building with no elevator. We were on the first floor as no room was available on the ground floor when I booked. Taking our luggage upstairs was challenging. The floor right outside our room creaked, it woke us up at night if someone was walking past your room. Staff in the restaurant and at breakfast were excellent.
Great staff, beautiful building in the heart of Tetbury and a lovely room. The food was delicious.
The noise from neighbouring rooms above and beside us.
Location. Elegance. Comfort.
Very little.

Great nice in garden
Occasionally got order wrong
The Close is our favourite hotel when we return to the country and is our first choice. We had an upgraded room so there was plenty of space.
There is nothing we don't like about the Close
Very friendly and attentive staff, great food.
Nothing.
Was welcomed by a very lovely male receptionist who was very helpful including lugging my very heavy case up 2 flights of stairs, bar/restaurant staff was pleasant, breakfast was plentiful and varied
drinks were quite pricey, room was very hot but couldn't be helped in this heatwave we're currently having,
Lovely terrace off the bar
Local school children running around the terrace/garden disturbing the peace
The housekeeping staff put an extra sheet out. So as it was hot, we laid on duvet with just the sheet over us. The fan provided was also very effective.
The car park was a challenge. We noticed many locals also used it for their morning coffee etc. We paid a lot of money, so it was frustrating to have to park elsewhere.
Breakfast and supper. the room was charming.
A couple of the wait staff at supper time were rather abrupt and when we asked for the water to be replenished the girl just shrugged and never did anything about it. Another member of staff was very helpful and dealt with the issue. We were charged for two bottles of a more expensive wine with supper when we in fact only had one. This was dealt with, but in such a way that made us feel very uncomfortable. My husband had to produce the empty bottle from our room to prove the type of wine we had. At no point did the receptionist apologise for the mistake. He was on the point of being rude.
Most of the staff were very friendly and the grounds are lovely. Very comfy bed and luxury bedding. It's in a great location and parking is easy. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and a good hairdryer wgich was nice to see. The eggs at breakfast were perfectly cooked and overall had a great stay.
The guy on reception was a bit terse and he never offered me and my 81 year old mum any help getting our suitcases up 2 flights of stairs either on arrival or departure. The ceilings are low my mum who is 4ft 11 kept banging her head on the beams. The rest of the food on the breakfast was cheap quality (sausages, bacon and bread). It was very hot and the fan wasn't really adequate, aircon might be needed if the heatwave continues.
A very warm welcome, an exceptional hotel in a wonderful location. Great food too!
The setting and the rooms were beautiful, the staff were very welcoming.
There seemed to be too few staff or a lack of efficiency as you could wait for sometime to be served for drinks and food
Unfortunately we felt the room was overpriced for the level of decor. The blind was in bad repair. The paintwork was chipped in places and the carpet was stained.
All good, just lost my husband so a sad visit
Beautiful building, with a wonderful garden. Excellent food and service, in the heart of Tetbury.
Check in is 4pm (officially) so could be a little frustrating. No air conditioning in my room, although given the age of the building and regulations, understandable.
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at The Close - very comfortable with a special atmosphere and pleasant staff.
The service in general was erratic.
The staff were lovely
The street noise from our room
The dinner was excellent quality and beautifully served. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Beautiful property with great terrace, we were lucky enough to dine outside as the weather was perfect. Pretty garden with plenty of space for socialising.
Okay so I found the mattress comfortably but my husband didn’t, everyone is different so it’s not a criticism. Would have preferred china mugs in the room rather than tea cups.
Ambiance, quaint old building with history. Centrally located on the high street. Great tasting and fresh cuisine! Spacious rooms. Secluded beautiful garden for outdoor meals & relaxing. Efficient online checkout is quick & convenient.
Not all staff are immediately friendly upfront - this could make a difference with hospitality. Key-holder is large & heavy to carry around.
A beautiful location, historic building. We loved the terrace and garden, due to the heatwave we enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast there. We had a Classic Double room, comfortable and clean with everything we needed. The staff were efficient and friendly, in particular Olivia who was so helpful and entertaining. We'll definately stay again.
Nulla.
Lovely old building with quirky rooms and lovely tranquil garden
Nothing
Ci torneremo. Li ci abbiamo lasciato il cuore.
Niente
Good Breakfast. Room was large. Bathroom was enormous, with a large bath and two, yes two, shower heads across the back wall for a his and hers experience at the same time. Dinner was fine if you like meat. If not, there were a couple of things for veggies. The bed was large and comfy. The staff were lovely. The garden was pretty and very peaceful. I don't think I have ever had a room cleaned and tidied up so thoroughly.
The room did not have air conditioning, but that is hardly surprising for such an old building. BUT, it had one of the best fans I have ever listened to in the room. Very efficient and very quiet. Service in the garden was a bit haphazard but we got there in the end. The parking was a little difficult with not that many spaces in a small courtyard. There were a few more spaces near the public library, at the back of the hotel, and a few restricted parking spaces right outside the library on the road.
Everything was amazing, stuff, location, garden . Highly recommend 🥰❤️
The Garden was the jewel in the crown very well maintained the room was emasculate as was the whole hotel. the breakfast was very good with a wide variety of choice. the staff were attentive and very welcoming
Beautiful gardens, comfortable seating.
Lovely staff , excellent location , beautiful garden oasis to relax
Restaurant food good but did not like the fact that to get a full meal eg potatoes with your lamb rack you had to order extras
Great location with lovely bar, restaurant, loung areas. Comfortable bed and superb walled garden
Parking was very limited
Comfortable period property
The beds were very narrow and the pillows were awful. Like a brick. The tv had no proper signal . You could only watch BBC channels.
Lovely room and great en-suite
Brilliant location ,good food and nice staff and private parking
The room was a little bit dated
What incredible value for money! From the moment we arrived, the welcome from reception was warm and friendly. Our turret room was absolutely immense and full of character, making our stay feel really special. We loved how well they catered for our dog too – genuinely one of the most dog-friendly places we've stayed. The food was fabulous, and breakfast was equally impressive. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of Tetbury High Street, making it perfect for exploring the town and surrounding area. Secure and free parking! A fantastic weekend break for two (plus one very happy dog!). We will definitely be back.
beautifully appointed, lovely outdide space & garden. quality hotdl
finding the carpark🥹
We chose The Close Hotel for my birthday. All in all a lovely experience. Stunning historic building in the middle of Tetbury. The hotel is beautifully and tastefully furnished. All the rooms are named after birds. We had asked for a specific room prior to our arrival and were very happy to get exactly that room. We loved our room - spacious, great colour scheme, clean and equipped with a large and comfy bed and a sitting area. Large and nice bathroom. Both our room and bathroom overlooked the pretty garden with a wonderful big white Magnolia in full bloom. Nice coffee and tea facilities in the room. As a nice extra touch there was a birthday card and a little cake from the hotel. Staff were mostly helpful and attentive. The Blue Zucchini is a lovely little Café / Bistro around the corner with very friendly staff.
The car park behind the hotel is almost always full especially in the evenings which creates a bit of a problem as finding parking outside of it isn't easy in Tetbury. The young lady in charge of breakfast on the morning of the birthday wasn't particularly friendly and incompetent which spoiled the overall good impression. There was no clean table available in the morning and even though we had asked for a specific table the night before - that table wasn't free, it hadn't been cleaned. When the table was finally set up it still missed napkins, jams and toast. Breakfast the next morning was much better.
Dinner was good. Lovely garden at the back Room was spacious and well presented Hotel is central and has parking which was valuable in Tetbury
We were brought a warm bottle of blush wine. When we asked to exchange it the bottle was taken away for chilling. No further drink was brought. When a new chilled bottle appeared 25 minutes later (that we had been told they didn't have..), 2 wine glasses worth were poured away as " we had had them". We actually hadn't had them - they too had been taken away...
Beautiful room, particularly the bathroom. Lovely terrace and lots of character.
Service was decidedly "quirky" with not always being greeted immediately, confusion over desserts, delays for coffee in the morning, not being asked if we wanted toast, table not completely set and so on. Also the breakfast bar was not very extensive, with nice pastries but no fresh bread and little cold food (cheese, etc.).
Location excellent if you are visiting Highgrove.
The room colour was a bit much and TV in an awkward position. No bath
Lovely stay at the Close Hotel Very relaxing beautiful stting

Very comfortable bed, excellent food.
Shortage of storage in the bathroom. Nowhere to put items.
The setting and gardens were lovely. The room was excellent and the breakfast and service were brilliant
Lovely hotel. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Big, comfortable bed. Our bathroom was enormous and had a beautiful view from the bath
Nothing
One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Far exceeds many 5* establishments.
Restaurant was unfortunately below par
The rooms were adorable, staff was excellent, restaurant was wonderful!
Excellent location, stylish and elegant hotel, rooms very comfortable.
Nothing, couldn’t fault anything.
Lovely hotel in the Cotswolds. We were given Swallow room which was really nice very spacious and comfortable . The staff were a delight We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and enjoyed sitting in the gardens .
If there’s one criticism there’s no lift especially if your in the top floor in the main hotel
Well kept

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location
Very friendly welcome, comfortable room and excellent breakfast. All in a historic building in the middle of Tetbury with the special bonus of a tranquil garden at the back.
I can't think of anything to complain about.
Friendly staff .Great location . Beautiful well maintained gardens
Breakfast was excellent and so were the staff. The manageress Juliana was very pleasant and helped me change my room
Staff
Beautiful hotel, the room, food and staff were excellent. The location of the hotel was ideal for a walking in the town and Tetbury was an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas.
No dislikes
The staff were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond. One gentleman helped me get my luggage up the stairs and in the morning one of the men helped wash down the car after it was messed on by birds overnight. The whole experience felt very luxe.
There was nothing not to like about the property. It was outstanding in every way.
Atmospheric but cosy
Nothing really
Position of the hotel and friendly staff
Beam in the room
We have stayed and dined here a number of times. It is a lovely hotel full of character. The rooms aren’t modern but are comfortable. Lovely staff, great bar and restaurant and central town.

It is cosy and in the middle of Tedbury
Staff fabulous. Breakfast, and dinner first day superb. Saturday dinner & Sunday breakfast average. service great. Couple of issues with bedroom that were annoying however management were very reactive to the issues.
