Our room didn’t have a toilet so we had to go across the hall to a separate WC. It wasn’t shared but it wasn’t ideal for our circumstances.

Chambre très joliment décorée et équipement très complet. Sue, la propriétaire, est adorable et très attentionnée : elle nous a suggéré des visites adaptées à nos goûts et nos possibilités. Le petit déjeuner est très bon et propose de nombreux choix. La situation du B&B est très pratique avec commerces et restaurants à pied à proximité (mention spéciale au Café Bistro !)

Peu de places pour 2 grandes valises ; mais elles passent très bien sous le lit !

I needed to book on very short notice, so it was a lucky coincidence I ended up at Avondale House. Although I was too early and was prepared to wait outside, Sue came out and invited me in. She is a loveley host! My room was located towards the busy road, but during the night it was really quiet. The for-poster-bed was comfortable, so I had a good night sleep. I really loved the cosy and somewhat quirky room, because the bathtub and sink were located in the room. Only the toilet was seperate and down the hallway. Everything was spotless. The breakfast was good, too!

Posizione molto buona per visitare il parco nazionale. Struttura bella dal di fuori. Piacevole la vasca da bagno. Very good location for visiting the national park. The property is attractive from the outside. The bathtub was a pleasant feature.

Accoglienza sbrigativa. Dalle foto sembrava che ci potesse essere una sala comune, in realtà è la sala colazione e non può essere usata dagli ospiti. Si può scegliere se fare colazione ma, qualora non la si prendesse, in camera non c'è nemmeno un tavolino pieghevole dove appoggiarsi. Arredamento datato e da sistemare. Il maggior problema è stato che siamo stati obbligati a pagare la colazione IN CONTANTI e questo non era specificato sul foglio per ordinare la colazione. Inoltre, il bancomat che ci ha indicato la proprietaria è un servizio che chiede una commissione piuttosto alta. Sinceramente la colazione non era tra le migliori mangiate in Inghilterra, molto poco saporita. The welcome was rather rushed and impersonal. From the photos, it seemed there might be a common lounge area, but in reality it is the breakfast room and cannot be used by guests outside breakfast hours. Guests can choose whether or not to have breakfast, but if they decide not to, there is not even a small folding table in the room where they can sit and eat or work. The furnishings are dated and in need of some refurbishment. The biggest issue was that we were required to pay for breakfast in cash, which was not specified on the breakfast order form. Furthermore, the ATM recommended by the owner was a service that charged quite a high fee. To be honest, the breakfast was not among the best we had in England and was rather bland and lacking in flavor.

For paying for deluxe superior room, but it had a bath and sink actually in the room but the toilet at the end of the corridor. Not what we expected.

La gentilezza e cordialità dei proprietari, il posto è molto tranquillo e la pulizia è impeccabile.

Friendly and helpful. Quick communication. We appreciate the en suite with shower in the large downstairs room. Bed comfortable. Nice breakfast - fresh fruit lovely. They helpfully popped our freezer blocks in the freezer for us overnight and then when I forgot them, kept them safe for later collection! Good refreshments in room - Yorkshire teabags a good touch!

Struggled to get the TV working but they were quick to try to help and with some playing around it did.

Pokój z trzema łóżkami, łazienka z prysznicem. W pokoju zimno, ale na szczęście działał grzejnik przez chwilę. Pościel czysta, pokój tak sobie. Prysznic ok. Można było dokupić śniadanie za 10 funtów, ale nie chcieliśmy, więc nie wiemy jakie śniadania.

Po wejściu do pokoju ostry zapach chloru lub innego lizolu. Musieliśmy długo wietrzyć żeby trochę przewiało. Źle działająca spłuczka.

Es gab keine Dusche und die Badewanne ist in dem kleinen Zimmer mit drin, ohne Vorhang. Die Toilette ist am anderen Ende des Flurs. Im Zimmer gibt es quasi keine Ablageflächen. Steckdosen sind zu wenig.

The room was comfortable. The hosts were accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful. Location is very good. Delicious breakfast.

Place wasn’t clean at all, from first impression the front door etc was filthy, this carried on inside, place needs scrubbed. Hostess wasn’t very pleasant or welcoming. Room itself was ok, toilet roll holder fell off the wall, bit of a strange smell in the room. As was only for one night thankfully we made do. Strange that you can only check in until 930.

Fabulous hosts. Sue and Steve were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Cosy and warm room. Lovely stay.

Locatie is wat verloederd en versleten maar wat erger is, hij was ook niet echt schoon. De douche is in het bad wat hem voor ouderen of mensen die slecht ter been zijn onbruikbaar maakt.

Personne très accueillante et très gentille, la chambre était propre et il y a de la place pour se garer.

Stayed for 1 night which was fine however no wardrobe to hang anything or indeed any storage. Didn't realise there was no ensuite so this was a major issue as I have various medical problems and need access to a bathroom,especially during the night.

Klein aber fein. Wir hatten ein privates Badezimmer gebucht, welches allerdings nicht am Zimmer dran war, sondern auf der anderen Seite des Flurs. War ok. Zudem hatten wir ein eigenes Waschbecken auf dem Zimmer. Super nettes Personal.

For the room I rented, the bathroom was not en-suite. Nothing wrong with either the room or the bathroom, but, a stair-light was automatically activated every time I crossed the landing to use the bathroom.

Conveniently located and comfortable. Room was dated but a nice size.

No usb a or c connections so ensure you have an adaptor. Shower and toilet were separate from the room but it was still solo use

Beautiful area, loved watching the rabbit in the back garden.

Found it difficult having a bathroom the other end of the large hallway.

Pas d'eau chaude pour se laver et prendre une douche. J'ai été obligé de descendre à la réception pour demander un éclaircissement et une solution au problème. L'hôtesse a alors réagi en enclanchant la minuterie du dispositif de commande du chauffage de l'eau... il était 07h30 am. Elle m'a informé qu'il fallait attendre 30 minutes pour avoir de l'eau chaude. Pas d'excuse ni de bonne parole ne m'ont été adressé. A noter aussi ,un entretien moyen : grande difficultés à fermer les rideaux de la fenêtre (le rail est à remplacer, prévu mais non réalisé lors de mon arrivée...).

It wasn't en-suite as booked. I don't want to walk across the landing to go to the loo in the middle of the night. Place needed a good clean.

Die Besitzerin ist sehr nett gewesen. Die Betten waren bequem und für eine einzelne Person ausreichend (Einzelbetten). Schön war auch, dass es einen Parkplatz gab und man für 10£ pro Person ein Frühstück bestellen konnte.

Leider war das Haus sehr rumpelig und deswegen auch nicht ganz so sauber wie gewünscht. Das Zimmer hat stark nach Chlor gerochen. Bettgestelle und Teppich wiesen zahlreiche undefinierbare Flecken auf. Die Dusche hat leider auch schon bessere Zeiten gewesen.

The decor of the whole place is pretty tired. The rooms are quite small. These things are probably reflected in the price which is reasonable for the area.

The facility was a guest house, not a hotel so I appreciated the extent the owner went to accommodate me.

My mistake but arriving mid-day in sleeting rain, I didn’t appreciate a note saying it was closed until 3.00pm and I could leave my case outside (in the rain) until then.

Un retour dans les années 70 au niveau de la déco et du paiement du petit déjeuner en sus qui ne peut se faire qu’en cash. La largeur des lits de notre chambre triple qui était de 90cm chacun. Je n’avais plus dormi dans ce genre de lit depuis mes 16 ans. Cependant, au mois d’août, le prix est moins exorbitant que partout ailleurs, donc……

La chambre familiale qui plutôt que de proposer 3 lits en 90 pourrait offrir un lit double et un simple. Une eau de douche qui tiédît dès que le robinet du lavabo est ouvert. Pas de possibilité de restauration, sachant que les restaurants alentours sont, soit fermés, soit peu attractifs.

Très bon rapport qualité prix. Hôte accueillante. Tout ce qu’il faut pour passer un bon séjour.

We loved our stay at Avondale House. On a very cold week, the guest house was so comfortable and warm. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We so enjoyed our additional breakfast in the morning -- it was delicious! The location is central and ideal for exploring Kingussie. The guest house was so peaceful and a lovely atmosphere.

We had some challenges with getting the heating to work, room could do with some minor maintenance and the messiness downstairs was quite off-putting.

Ein schönes altes Haus, gut geführt, tolles Frühstück in einem gemütlichem breakfast room. Sue hat uns sogar die selbst gesammelten Pfifferlinge zubereitet. Sue und Steve sind sehr freundlich und haben uns guten Rat für Ausflüge gegeben. Sehr empfehlenswert und gerne wieder!

Heerlijke overnachting in auto met een nacht temperatuur van 5 graden

Onvriendelijke, onbehulpzame host zonder empatisch vermogen. Door een lekke band en het veel langzamer moeten rijden ivm langdurig hevige regen onderweg zouden wij net de deadline van het inchecken niet halen. Netjes een berichtje gestuurd en de reactie was kortweg: 21.00 ben ik dicht, wij annuleren jouw boeking. Gevolg: noodgedwongen slapen in de auto, omdat er in de wijde omtrek niets meer beschikbaar/bereikbaar was en uiteraard zien wij het betaalde geld voor de overnachting ook niet terug.

The parking is easy if you're on a road trip, and it is close to the Dalwhinnie Distillery, which is a fabulous spot to visit. Even though we arrived late we still managed to get an excellent Indian meal at a restaurant just a short stroll into the town.

I had an expectation that the room had an ensuite, however, the "private" bathroom was a stroll down the hall. The automatic lights turned off too quickly which made trying to open the "private" bathroom with a key in the middle of the night difficult.
