Fermain Valley Hotel

Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.

Unfortunately not all restaurants were open and only one was open on our day of arrival which we had booked. We were a little late though due to roadworks outside. It’s not the hotels fault, but we had planned on using the bus, however until 20th October the road outside the hotel has been dug up so the buses are having to divert. The 2 or 3 bus stops either side of the road are not in use making it a bit of a walk, assuming you know where to go. This meant having to get taxis if going for a drink outside of the hotel. It also caused some confusion on arrival meaning we ended up walking through the gardens and up and down stairs looking for Reception. It would’ve been nice to have had a message before arrival to let us know how to access Reception from the road.

Room 30 next to banging fire door , the duct from the kitchen means you smell the kitchen on your balcony. The room just tired chipped, mould and broken fittings in bathroom.We have stayed 4 times and this was the worst room by far and at £319 a night poor value.

Sadly this was let down by its facilities and response from staff to a genuine difficulty. I returned from a playing sport at 9pm to take a shower but there was absolutely no hot water. We felt for the sake of constructive feedback for the sake of other guests we would mention this on checking out but the response from reception was that no-one else had had this difficulty and suggesting I couldnt work the shower.I pointed out I had previously used the shower with no issue and there was also only cold water from the sink taps that evening . I felt that my difficulty hadnt been taken seriously and worse they implied the problem was with me....not a response you would expect from reception who should be adept at dealing with customer complaints.

The gardens were beautiful, the bedroom amongst the trees and the hotel within walking distance of Fermain Bay was. special. The staff were all lovely.

The refrigerator in the bedroom was noisy. The bathrooms were badly designed. There was no way of having a shower without the whole bathroom floor becoming very wet. There were two showers, small shower screens, that were not adequate and a large gap where the water sprayed out. There was no need to have two showers, one with an adequate shower screen would be preferable. The wash hand basin was an odd shape set back on the work surface which meant it was difficult not soak the work surface. The fake leather of the chair was broken all the way around. The light in the room was dim and there was no option of increasing it. There was no option of having any natural ventilation only air-conditioning.

Very comfortable hotel. We stayed once already this year and rebooked as soon as we got home. The second stay was just as good. The breakfast is excellent and there’s three on-site restaurants to choose from for evening meals. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Our room and bed were very comfortable.

There wasn’t anything we disliked.

I was working so one night needed room service, I could not get a pizza on room service and their pizzas are really good ;) There was a corporate summer do one eve, so I went out that evening, however it might be a good idea to let people know in advance so they can make plans.

Room and views are exceptional!

Road closures caused us to have to hike up and down to the nearest bus diverted stop which the hotel didn't inform us about and we ended up missing the stop and having to waste hours at the main bus stop to grab a differnt bus.

Staff seemed very busy at meal times. Service was very slow Also all restaurants closed earlier than advertised. We had to go elsewhere to eat. Inconvenient

The tree house location was excellent. The tranquility of the surroundings were great. With it being just a stroll to the gorgeous beach.

The hotel and staff were friendly and welcoming the rooms good size, clean with excellent refreshments trays in room. The pool was great for a swim at the end of our days out.

We didn’t realise the hotel was split into different buildings and steep hills for my elderly parents and being split up from main hotel and garden rooms. The food was good but very slow we had to wait an hour each morning from ordering food to received it. Bar closed at 9pm so when coming back after a meal out nowhere to sit and relax together.

Delicious breakfast

We paid the extra to have breakfast delivered to the treehouse we stayed in and was worth the additional charge. Dinner in the Ocean Restaurant was lovely.

Would have liked feather pillows in the room but that’s a personal preference. Also the toilet seat lid didn’t stay up and hit me in the back each time a used the toilet

La vue, exceptionnelle ! L'accès à pied à la Baie de Fermain, qui permet de faire de la randonnée sur les sentiers côtiers directement sans prendre sa voiture. Le personnel adorable, le choix des restaurants liés à l'hôtel (3 différents) et le confort de la chambre !

The view and location were lovely. The staff were very friendly and hard working. The bed was very comfy. In the room we had lots of lovely, tea, coffee and biscuits. We got fresh water in the room every day too. The WiFi was good. The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch!

For some reason we got put in a room with a disabled bathroom, however when we booked the photos showed a really nice regular bathroom with a lovely looking shower etc so this was quite disappointing. Also we let them know before coming we are plant based and they said they would let the chefs know as we had breakfast included, unfortunately there was barely anything we could eat so definitely didn’t get our moneys worth for the breakfast! Our towels didn’t get changed our whole stay. It’s a shame the hotel didn’t have any sun loungers as these would have been perfect for the lower deck!

Disappointed that the Rock Garden was only open Friday and Saturday! Also the Ocean view restaurant was closed on a Tuesday without prior notice and the bar was also closed in the evening.

A lovely location, with a great view and easy access to the bay below. A good array of food options. Nice to have the pool on site.

Staff seemed like they could do with some more training, service at meals was generally slow, on reception they didn't always seem completely confident in what they were doing. They also didn't seem to really want to maximise the guest experience - it was a heatwave, so they could have made much more use of the outside area by the pool - loungers, tables, parasols etc!

Wij zaten in het bijgebouw, met kamers aan de straatkant. Erg gehorig door verkeersgeluiden en door gasten van de pub aan de overkant.

L’hôtel est situé admirablement à 2-3 km de Saint-Pierre-Port, au-dessus de la charmante baie de Fermain, où il y a un petit restaurant de plage et où on peut se baigner. Le personnel est aimable. Le restaurant est excellent, les petits déjeuners aussi.

Il faisait beaucoup trop chaud dans la chambre, dont on ne pouvait pas ouvrir les fenêtres. Le ventilateur, même allumé en permanence, ne suffisait pas. Quelques chaises-longues sur la belle terrasse auraient été appréciées.

Great location in the middle of a Forrest

A fantastic location with amazing views down the valley to the sea from all around the hotel. The hotel was spotless, comfy beds and fluffy towels. All the food we tried was excellent - we loved the amazing breakfast menu with so much choice and top quality. We had dinner in the Terrace Restaurant which was also delightful - food and atmosphere great. The staff were also really helpful, friendly and very professional and we would love to visit again.

The only slight negative was our room was on first floor above the bar area so noisy music made being in the room less relaxing than it could have been up to about 10pm - if staying again we would ask for a room away from this area as otherwise the hotel was very peaceful and relaxing.

Die Unterkunft hat eine tolle Lage, und der Servicepersonal war sehr freundlich. Allerdings waren die Servicekräfte oftmals auch sehr unorganisiert.

Wir haben für fünf Nächte inklusive Frühstück rund 1.200 € bezahlt und waren vom Zimmer im Haupthaus mehr als enttäuscht. Das Zimmer ist stark abgewohnt, renovierungsbedürftig und teilweise nicht sauber. Die Farbe blättert von der Decke, die Tapete ist beschädigt und der Blick geht auf einen lauten Hinterhof. Ein solches Zimmer entspricht weder dem Preis noch den Erwartungen an ein Hotel dieser Kategorie. Als wir den Zustand direkt beim Check-in reklamierten, wurde lediglich erklärt, dass wir ein Classic-Zimmer im Haupthaus gebucht hätten und das Hotel ausgebucht sei. Eine Lösung oder auch nur Verständnis gab es nicht. Wenn die Classic-Zimmer im Haupthaus in einem derart schlechten Zustand sind, sollte das bei der Buchung deutlich kommuniziert werden. Dass dieses Hotel zu den Hand Picked Hotels der Kanalinseln gehören soll, können wir angesichts unseres Zimmers leider überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen.

Un peu bruyant

Great location for a lovely coastal walk into St Peter’s port if needed. Everywhere on the island is at a reasonable driving distance from everywhere else, so goes without saying. Lovely site too, bar and restaurants included is a plus, although the very popular mexican was fully booked during our stay.

We stayed on one of the hottest summer days, although we were provided with a fan, an aircon would have been amazing. Given it was quite expensive, I don’t think it is too much to expect that luxury.

Great location in Guernsey. Close enough for a quick drive into town, far enough to be peaceful.

Great location on the east coast near the cliff path & short walk into St Martin’s village. Bus routes easy to locate both into town and off towards the west coast. Very dog friendly hotel & all of the staff were absolutely brilliant.

Breakfast and dinner options were great. Location good and walking distance to the beach and beach cafe was great.

Booking said ‘garden view room’ but ended up above the restaurant entrance, facing a fairly busy road and pub. No air-con so had to have the windows open so not much sleep the first night.

View from verander was really pretty listening to the birds singing. Excellent breakfast, lots of healthy food choices. Enjoyed a tip top evening meal for our wedding anniversary.

Fantastic location - easy to get to on the bus from the airport and also near St Peter's Port with a lovely bay just a few minutes walk down the hill. We stayed in a Treehouse room which was away from the main hotel building and lovely and secluded but near enough for all the hotel facilities. Wonderful, helpful staff and a superb breakfast. We would definitely stay at Fermain Valley again

Service at breakfast was sometimes a little slow but I think that is because they cook everything to order - it was always worth the wait and there was an extensive breakfast menu to choose from.

Top floor of bedroom block is too warm.

We were in a tree house which was beautiful, and the served breakfasts are a little luxury not found in many hotels these days, the majority of the staff were lovely with reception staff very helpful indeed

The lighting was a bit poor in the tree house, and some additional cleaning of the external areas would have enhanced the property. Facilities initially advertised, I.e. spa and shuttle were no longer available

We have just spent a week at Fermain Valley Hotel and enjoyed the stay. The hotel is charming, the grounds are lovely, and the outside veranda is a real highlight — perfect for relaxed breakfasts and dinners overlooking the sea. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and attentive, which made the stay enjoyable.

The only downside was the room. We stayed in Room 38 which was tastefully decorated and large. However Rooms 38 - 42 are located in the eaves, and during our stay — which coincided with an unprecedented heatwave — the temperature inside reached 34.8°C, even with two fans running constantly. The sun shines directly on the roof on the afternoon onwards and the heat does not dissipate in the evening, even when it was much cooler outside, which made sleeping very difficult. We were told that only 4 bedrooms have aircon in the entire hotel. Special mention to Catya on Reception who moved heaven and earth to transfer our room (if only for 3 nights). This room was noticeably cooler by 6 degrees.

Sehr schönes Hotel, schöne Aussicht und nur ein kurzer Spaziergang zur Fermain Bay. Auch die Anbindung zum Bus ist ideal. Das Frühstück war exquisit und echt lecker!

Der erste Stock ist etwas hellhörig. Die Musik aus dem Restaurant ist von 7 Uhr morgens bis ca. 22 Uhr durch den Bass wahrnehmbar. Es empfiehlt sich eher ein Zimmer im 2. OG. Die Steckdosen könnten moderner sein und sollten Lademöglichkeiten für USB-A bzw. USB-C bieten. Die Bedienung des TV mit der Sky-Box war manchmal etwas mühselig, da die Geräte nicht ganz so reagieren wie in der Anleitung beschrieben.

The service at breakfast and evening meal was poor - nearly embarrassing, so many complaints from customers - you would expect your table to be set at a 4 star hotel! It was very much do it yourself!

The menu had no options for dinner. The breakfast staff were quite slow with taking orders and delivery.. Our room had no A/C just a small fan and it was soo hot to even sleep.

Breakfast was lovely, with everything you could want on the menu, all freshly prepared. Although I travelled with colleagues, we were sometimes on different schedules, so I often dined or had a drink in the bar on my own. As a lone female traveller, I always felt comfortable and welcome. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The outside space is breathtaking – beautifully maintained and the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The decor, although lovely in most areas, could do with a refresh, and air conditioning would be a blessing.

Stunning location and great views from our balcony. The restaurant team were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely. Our room was immaculate and serviced each day. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back.

When we checked in the lady said the pool was not working. Fair enough but we heard from other guests that they could use the facilities of their sister hotel nearby and we were not told. Also the receptionist did not tell us anything about the area for example how we could walk down to the bay and also where we could join the cliff path that took us into town. We also heard from another guest on the last night of our stay that they had a shuttle bus that guests could use. When you are new to a location it would have been helpful for the receptionist to give you some helpful info but that was sadly lacking.

Location of our room, it was also very tired, the window sill had all the paint peeling off.

The Fermain valley hotel is situated in an amazing valley it feels very exotic when you sit on your balcony. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the breakfast plentiful. The staff are so friendly and helpful , Maria Shayne Sarisa and our fabulous chambermaid Cecilia all deserve extra praise for their hard work and cheerie smiles , we would certainly recommend this hotel .

It would have been nice to have been informed the pool was out of action we were quite disappointed although they did arrange transport to their sister hotel for us to use their pool .

Nothing negative about our stay.

Wir waren sehr angetan von der Lage des gesamten Hotels. Umringt von einem fantastischen und wunderbar gepflegten Waldstück, nur wenige Gehminuten zum Strand. Wir haben 5 Nächte in einem der Baumhäuser verbracht und es war perfekt für unsere Bedürfnisse. Das Zimmer ist mit einem komfortablen Bett ausgestattet, einen Schreibtisch, einer Kleiderstange, einem kleinen Regal und ein Minikühlschrank. Dies mag ggf. etwas spartanisch für manch einen sein, für uns war es genau das Richtige. Das Frühstück am Morgen war ebenfalls sehr empfehlenswert und das Personal ausnahmslos freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen war auch die Bar im Rock Garden, wo wir wohl einen der leckersten Cocktails (außerhalb der Karte) vom Barkeeper John zubereitet bekommen haben.

Nicht gefallen wäre maßlos übertrieben, aber ggf. wären etwas komfortablere Loungemöbel auf der Terrasse schön gewesen.

Location to the beach and on a bus route which meant the island was fully accessible from directly outside the hotel.

The indoor pool was closed for repair during our visit. Also the teabags were not of a good quality which produced a poor tasting tea.

Très bel hotel, dans un beau jardin proche d'une plage et desservi par le bus.

Pas de chance, la piscine était fermée, et notre chambre sous les toits très chaude la nuit (période de canicule). La restauration n'est pas à la hauteur, personnel gentil mais service long, voire très long parfois.

Room was very hot, no air conditioning

We were in Room 25 which was perfect. On the top floor, it has a small balcony and stunning views of the verdant valley. It's also very handy for the car park at the rear of the hotel, and for the short walk up to Buho, their Mexican restaurant, where we had a good meal - they have an extensive cocktail menu, too. We liked the fact that the bathroom has a bath as well as a shower, and the room decor was very fresh and calming. Breakfast was good, and even though we were quite late down we did not feel hurried - staff even bought us tea & coffee top ups just as they were closing, a rarity!

The reception area is surprisingly dark and somewhat low key, not really a reflection of the rest of the hotel. A friend who was staying at the same time told us she struggled to read the check in form.

Spa and pool facilities closed on site....but more an inconvenience than spoiling our stay

Een heerlijk hotel met prachtige ligging en alles tot in de puntjes geregeld. We hadden een fijne kamer met groot tweepersoonsbed en een balkon. Je kijkt uit over de baai en het lijkt net of je in het regenwoud zit. Heel groen en veel vogels. Heerlijk rustig. St Peter Port is ongeveer 30 min lopen met een steile heuvel. Met de taxi ongeveer 10 min voor 12 euro. Het ontbijt was fantastisch!! Een klein buffet en een kaart waar je kunt kiezen uit heerlijke gerechten. Het voelt toch wat luxer dan een ontbijtbuffet. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk en we hebben veel met ze gelachen. Het voelde wat kleinschaliger en persoonlijker aan dan een echt groot hotel. Het eiland zelf hebben we verkend met een elektrische fiets. Goed te doen! Ze brengen de fietsen naar het hotel en halen ze weer op.

The bed was quite hard and the curtains all ripped on the edges. I feel a bit of a refurbishment could be useful.

Cleanliness , parking , early check in was allowed as the room was ready, breakfast was good

Room was noisy and outdated. Shabby decor, bald patches on wallpaper, damage to the ceiling , No plugs near bed. TV mounted below hip level (??) no WiFi code left in room. Kettle in the wardrobe on a shelf (?) plugged in. Bedroom door let so much light in from the corridor all night. Plus a terrible Noise most of the evening from a machine or similar. Very noisy when windows opened for air. Small Bathroom sink would barely drain and looked like an airplane WC of ancient moulded plastic. So disappointing for such an expensive stay and the food quality in the Rock Garden was terrible. So so overpriced all in all.

Bed comfort was very poor in treehouse room, needs replacing.

The location was gorgeous and the hotel was of a high standard. The room was spacious and the WiFi was fine. The high quality breakfast was great and replenished even minutes before breakfast was supposed to end.

Our room was above the kitchen, which meant loud extractor fans until 10pm or more, and kitchen staff who turned the radio up to be heard above the extractor fans. We actually thought the room was above a night club on the first night! While I appreciate that there is nothing that can be done about fans, certainly something can be done about the loud music. Why can’t staff use ear buds to listen to music?

The location of the hotel is great and the view is amazing. I stayed in a treehouse room, which was really nicely appointed and decorated and the breakfast was lovely. The staff were all outstandingly good - every single person was super friendly and helpful, which has a hugely positive impact - I hope they are really appreciated by Hand Picked Hotels as they're a massive asset!

We were in the garden rooms which are very spacious, but there are a lot of stairs to get up and down
