The location. The parking. The shared areas.
The breakfast was only OK. The shower in the bedroom was cold. The bar wasn't always available. No drinking water in the rooms and no shampoo or conditioner. Only instant decaf coffee.
Staff were really helpful and friendly
Seafront location. All rooms bright, airy and clean. Great breakfast. Lovely bedroom. Friendly staff.
Nothing
The balcony and being so close to the beach and sea. Staff excellent. Breakfast very good.
The 'superior' bedroom was tiny and pokey. Hardly wider than the double bed. Not enough room for two bedside tables. No complimentary shampoo or conditioner. I would have expected an eating height table (when seated) in the corner instead of a coffee table that was barely a foot high! These are all basics that even a Premier Inn has in it's rooms! The mattress was hard. This room should have been a single. The balcony was the saving grace.
The room was very nice. you could see and hear the sea from the bedroom window and the dining area. Located on the sea front and very close to the town centre. Excellent restaurants and bars very close. Ideal location with car parking and good public transport links.
The net curtain in the bedroom was too small for the window. Although only a minor point ,it was a little below the standard the rest of the decoration and finish of the hotel set.
Clean and freshly decorated. Lovely modern hotel with good quality ambience.
Unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours both in the late afternoon and again at 1 am when we were trying to sleep.
Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Spotlessly clean. Brilliant location with car park at rear of hotel. Lovely and enjoyable breakfast with good menu choice albeit at an extra cost but well worth the money. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.
There was absolutely nothing that we did not like about this hotel
The free parking and seafront location. Also there was a bar which was convenient.
There was no breakfast and for £134 for a double room for 1 night I think a breakfast should be included.
Room was spotlessly clean and afforded us an uninterrupted sea view and the location was ideal for the purpose of our visit.
Unfortunately the patio door was jammed and also won’t close. Outside windows could do with cleaning. Bathroom was confined and the shower door difficult to open and close. Otherwise the room was fine !!!
Room with a view ie sea facing
We understood parking was available but not bookable which is difficult to understand when the spaces were never empty. When we arrived on the 8th we parked in an empty space we were asked to move our car because the space was already reserved. We spent the whole of our stay trying to park which was very frustrating as even the seafront was always full.
Everything about this property is tier 1! I’d stay here again anytime
Nothing
The lift, helpful staff, sea views.
Room was small, shower was small and the TV minute.
Room very clean, lovely shower. Breakfast was excellent, good selection Perfect location Lovely friendle staff, lovely atmosphere.I was impressed with the care and assistance they showed towards less able residents especially at meal times
Room not tidied on second day so no clean cups/glasses Mattress and pillow bit hard for us but that is down to personal taste
Breakfast was v good plenty of choice and hot food cooked to order, staff v efficient and friendly
Our room overlooked Dukes and Friday night when we stayed is party night v loud unable to open window because of noise
Staff absolutely delightful Cleanliness exceptional Great welcome on arrival Lovely food
It was ALL good
Good location
Breakfast was never going to be value for money at £18 a head ripped off
The staff at hotel are fantastic. The lovely young man on reception got us a parking place even though their car park was full. It really made a huge difference to us. Thank you again. The hotel is in a great location. Beds extremely comfortable. Breakfast fabulous.
Twin room was oddly warm at night.
Convenient location
The price and how basic it was and couldn’t offer parking.
The staff were very helpful and attentive
The room's windows whistling through the night!
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location, the views were incredible! The staff were all really friendly and so helpful! When I booked it I was skeptical about having to rely on the bus to get around but it was no problem at all and ran very promptly, even on a Sunday!
The stay was a bit on the pricey side for what was included, the restaurant prices were so high but all the surrounding restaurants were too! Quite an expensive area to holiday in.
Ideal location near town and beach
Perfect location, lovely town, staff very attentive, clean everywhere. Lots of choice for breakfast and everything was either presented well or was very tasty
Nothing but next time I feel a front facing sea room would be better
Perfect location, clean hotel, staff very attentive, breakfast amazing with a great choice. I emailed ahead to discuss parking and was allocated a space, it made check in stress-free & quick
Breakfast was superb with a wide range of choices, staff were really friendly and helpful, really enjoyed my stay.
Helpful staff Brilliant location Good restaurant, good value and caring service.
Would be good to have a mini fridge please especially in the heat!
The property was right at the front overlooking the sea. It had a lovely outdoor area.
The pillows could have been firmer but everything else was very good.
They looked after my elderly parents with kindness & compassion. They said it was one of the best times they've had away for years. Comfy beds, great views and very helpful.
The room was excellent, it has lots of drawers and coat hangers which helps. Tea/coffee/biscuits etc was provided We did not book for breakfast. The bar staff were very friendly. Was happy that we could have a car park reserved during our stay. The hotel was opposite the seafront which was great. We were not far from the River Sid, the small river that flows down through the Sid Valley and the Sidmouth is named because it sits at the mouth of the River where it meets the sea as you will see in the picture.
No comments, loved everything about it.
The room was lovely, loved our sea view (although definitely don't need those heavy curtains in summer). Very clean, comfortable beds, great shower (although if I'm being nit-picky, some kind of shelving in the showers would be useful). Staff were particularly lovely - they even left us a little card and gift on our bed as it was a short honeymoon trip for us. Breakfast was great, plenty of options, but would recommend a second coffee machine. We had dinner on the first night, food was good although not spectacular. Overall, 5 stars from us.
We were the only sea-view room without a balcony, although that's not really anyone's fault. Limited parking. Not a lover of instant coffee and wasn't really interested in the coffee machine in the room. Decent coffee bags are available!
Lovely hotel right on the sea front! Staff polite and helpful. Really useful to be able to reserve free parking. Breakfast was nice as you could help yourself to cereal and order a freshly cooked English breakfast! We really enjoyed our stay.
it was nice and quiet and not to much traffic there was
There was nothing that we didn't like
Nice hotel, good room, excellent location, superb breakfast
Well things can always be better I guess but nothing specific springs to mind, other than no parking for first day.
The staff were super, all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast service was great and very prompt and of course the view whilst eating breakfast was superb. Lovely to have a secure parking place at the hotel and the view from our room, right out to sea, was splendid.
Only one slight, constructive, criticism is that on the second day we had staff knock on the door at 9am to ask to turn the room around. We hadn’t even gone down to breakfast at that point. The room was done much later in the morning the day before, after we’d gone out. Other than that, everything was great, thank you.
Bottle bins and reversing lorries
Excellent staff couldn’t do enough for you. Found a lost property item for us very much appreciated their help
Seagulls outside our room but beautiful view and good to be able to park behind the hotel
The room was clean and sufficient for our needs. Breakfast was excellent and a good choice of food. Location was perfect.
More ventilation would have been better. The window didn't open very far but we realise that was probably the health and safety rules and if there wasn't a heatwave then there wouldn't have been a problem!!
The location was fab and free parking
A fridge and water in the room would be nice as so very hot.
Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. Our sea-view room was great - a little small but lots of storage and light and airey. Seafront was nice and quiet after 10pm - in high season
Good parking - but check that they have room.
Location was excellent. Staff very efficient and friendly. Being able to park on site and not compete for a space made a big difference.
Ventilation in the room was poor so the room was uncomfortable to sleep in. The carpet in the room was badly stained and should have been changed some time ago. The shower cubicle needs a safety mat, otherwise very slippery and potentially dangerous, especially for old guests.
Location, great staff and excellent quality breakfast.
The room was far too hot. The hotel gave us a fan, but it was ineffective- they need air conditioning.
Great room overlooking the sea, private parking and the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
N(A
Perfect location
No air conditioning and impossible to open some windows. It was very hot in the room. The shower cubicle was tiny and difficult to use. Also water pressure very low.
Position
Water in the shower tray did not drain away properly
Location fantastic.
Price of breakfast too high.
Lovely clean rooms , breakfast was excellent and staff friendly and welcoming
Nothing
Location
The shower was rather small
Location, staff were welcoming and friendly - rooms were spacious and comfortable - nice see view
Good location, rooms are large and clean.
İt says there is free parking and they have 3 parking amd charging units for EV cars. They reserve EV parking slots to non EV cars and did not allow me to park or charge my car. They were not helpful at all. There are different breakfast options. We selected vegetarian large portions but not tasty enough. İt was incredibly loud because of the live music next to the hotel. Windows are not isolated enough to stop that noise. No aircondioning in tje room. If you open the windows too noisy if you close the windows too hot
The staff, particularly Ms Yanu, were so welcoming and helpful. The hotel did not skimp on, for example, brand of tea and coffee - all good quality Clipper stuff. Very comfy bed.
Although we were in town on a super-busy weekend (Folk Festival), the hotel did not offer any car parking for guests. Not convenient!
Right on the seafront
Nothing
On arrival to checking out we found the staff welcoming and very friendly, the room was clean, tidy it had everything we needed for our stay and the bed was comfy. The location was perfect for our visit at Sidmouth and we would return.
The only small negative was the shower soak away was broken and just sat on top, so it was easily kicked off every time the shower was used. This is just being picky, but it was a nuisance to keep putting right.
Lovely quaint little place by the beach. Rooms were clean with basic amenities. Staff was kind and helpful with our reserved parking, we could keep our parking spot two hours after checking out. No aircon but our room did have a fan which was nice. Had a lovely stay.
Maybe some clearer instructions on how to get into the carpark, we figured it out in the end but it would of been helpful
The view from our room
Nothing.
The Hotel room was good and comfortable beds and quiet.
The welcome could have been more friendly. The young man at Breakfast was not very welcoming and too quiet. The breakfast was slightly overcooked.
The Elizabeth hotel is a grand old building on the esplanade that has been tastefully modernised. It not luxury but it is comfortable. At times it can feel like cost has triumphed over quality like the cheap bed head lights. Also the the door and window to our Juliet balcony needed replacement. One thing our room did have though from The balcony was the best view in Sidmouth. Waking up in the morning throwing open the windows and being able to look up and down the promenade and out over the beach was invigorating. A room with a balcony or Juliet balcony is a must. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful, breakfasts were good. We had dinner one night the food was ok but like most hotels for dinner the place lacked atmosphere. Parking is a problem. There is a small car park at the back but you need to book it with your hotel booking. It’s important to get in as parking elsewhere can be difficult as the official car parks fill up quickly.
Perfect location, spotlessly clean, staff really lovely, our room had a balcony with sea view.
There was no fridge in room to keep water and fresh milk.
Car parking on site. Location. Good staff. Food okay.
Room size poor value, very limited space.
View and position
Nothing really
Location
The noise. Poorly soundproofed walls. Creaking floors above. Woken up at 0530 by seagulls and unable to get back to sleep due to bin trucks delivery vehicles and staff noise at nearby Dukes restaurant. Breakfast, although nice, wasn’t good value for money at £18 per person
Close location to the promenade and Pavillion Theatre.
Cost.
Location fantastic, sea view beautiful, bed comfy, powerful shower
I've had better breakfast, I was told I could only park car onsite for 1 night despite the hotel saying parking is included, I ended up having to move car the next day to a public car park which cost £15
Very good breakfast and excellent location
Dinner menu choice. Not particularly tailored for summer and unimaginative
Great location , very helpful pleasant staff , on site parking
Only something beyond their control - noisy seagulls first thing !!
Perfect location and excellent service.
Nothing
Breakfast plates were very hot. Food was almost cold.
Breakfast was adequate. We had dinner the first night and although it was acceptable the presentation was a rather slapped up and seemed as if it had been sitting around for a while.
I know nothing can be done about it but the shower was rather confined!
friendly staff. very clean room
Stayed here last week for 3 nights. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely large room with sea view and balcony. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. We didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening but we had a nice lunch one day. There were areas in the hotel that needed a touch of TLC/redecoration but this didn’t detract from our overall experience and we would certainly stay here again on future Sidmouth visits.
Loved the location. Friendly helpful staff. Great view. Highly recommend.
No aircon and it was a very hot day. But staff found us a fan which did the job. Slept well. Tight parking but very grateful to have it.
Room only. No meals
Unable to watch certain channels on the TV as there was no signal
Parking was very difficult.
Great location, amazing sea view from room.
Bathroom was dated, shower needs upgrading.
The location was perfect with a side sea view too. All of the staff were amazing from check in to breakfast staff. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and very tasty
It s was about 30 degrees the night we stay so it was except in the room. The cooling fan wasn’t very powerful or effective. Still a great trip though.
I had a wonderful stay at The Elizabeth Hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, making me feel comfortable from check-in until departure. The hotel was spotless throughout, with a clean, comfortable room that was well maintained every day. The location was excellent, making it easy to explore the local area, restaurants and nearby attractions. Breakfast was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options to suit different tastes. Everything was well presented, and the breakfast staff provided excellent service. Overall, I highly recommend The Elizabeth Hotel to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable hotel with outstanding staff, a fantastic breakfast and an excellent location. I would definitely stay here again.
There was nothing significant to dislike. I really enjoyed my stay.

Our room was very clean. The staff were very good, especially Yuni. The breakfast was very good.
Our room was very stuffy with inadequate ventilation. The shower cubicle was very cramped.
It was clean and nicely decorated, the bar and restaurant area were nice and breakfast staff were really nice. The lady on Reception on Thursday was lovely and had really good customer service skills as did the gentleman who was there on Friday evening. The bed was comfy and the shower was nice, also the soap smelt amazing, we liked how close it was to the beach and town as well
Receptionist on Wednesday was rude about the fact we hadn’t booked parking for 3 nights however when we booked our stay we were told parking was already full for our second and third night so not sure why she had a go at us, the room was very hot and a fan might be a useful addition in the summer, the room was really noisy from the bar next door, people in the street, seagulls and there was a lot of noise from the room above (sounded like furniture being moved) that lasted all night I know these things can’t be helped but it was so noisy it made it hard to sleep and when you’re paying so much you expect it to be a bit quieter. Also we asked if we’d be able to have early breakfast or something to take in the last day as we’d paid for breakfast but needed to leave at 6am and we’re just given a straight no but I think really they could have provided some fruit or a pastry we didn’t want a cooked breakfast just something since we’d paid. Also we bought some water from the bar, asked for still and was given sparkling, we realised before the bottle was open and instead of just swapping it we had to pay for a new bottle. On the whole we had a lovely stay in a nice hotel but these small things stood out and didn’t feel in keeping with the vibe of the hotel
Great location and recent make over made it a great spot to enjoy Sidmouth. Staff were friendly and efficient and we enjoyed our stay.
Aircon will increasingly become a differentiator for uk hotels. Invest now and reap the rewards. No fan even, took the shine off what was an otherwise very good break.
We had a lovely room with doors that opened onto a little terrace overlooking the sea, which was so nice. We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening and breakfast the next day, and all of the food was really lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was a great location for a walk along the seafront.
Clean & comfy room. Nice breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff, love the complementary water.
N/ A
everything went fine, no complaints , staff very good at all times.
Room 24 , creaky floor in the bathroom and worse in the shower. The shower tray was most odd standing on it and moving around, a fix is needed just for the people below.
Location
Small room size and not many extras like shampoo etc and no fridge in room
The place was clean and tidy and the staff friendly
Room a little bit warm
Lovely hotel, very clean, very comfortable beds, Great food, breakfast was amazing and had evening meal one night which was also fantastic
Beautiful hotel with sea views
Going home 😕
Great location
The shower cubicle was way too small, couldn't open a window so had no ventilation, NOISE of seagulls very early was most annoying, as was the droppings over my motorbike.
The view
It was not worth the price. Loud banging Door. The reception resembled a 1950's Bed and Breakfast. And no one there wen we arrived.
Sea front location
Although booked a sea view , and the room did have one but only if you were standing up at the window ….it was slightly misleading.
Wonderful view of the sea from the windows in room 11 and a very comfortable mattress. We would happily recommend.
Room was the same we stayed in last year. Very comfortable. Bonus was the car park and the hotel is very close to the beach and the town.
Excellent location on sea front, Good shower, breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. We stayed during heat wave so could have benefitted from aircon. Overall a very enjoyable stay
Perfectly situated, comfortable and well equipped, with lovely friendly helpful staff.
Nothing
Staff were very accommodating.
Evening meal could have more choice. Fir breakfast I ordered two poached eggs on toast . I was very surprised to see they were On one thin slice of toast. With corn flakes and tea it cost me over £20.
Great location, comfortable and clean
Shower in bathroom very small
The location. Helpfulness of staff Lovely breakfast.
Room was quite small we felt
Staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly, polite and well organised. All uniformed, all knowledgeable.
We booked parking which is a must if you are traveling by car, whilst the parking lot is well planned and managed it is not extensive.
It was in an ideal position overlooking the beach, photos taken from room, and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Very clean. Food was good, we would certainly go back there again
